In dire need of an update. One member of front of house staff that was working her backside off. Football on the t.v. way too loud. Food prices seemed good. But starters were so small it made us laugh. Mains were nice enough tho. Toilets not great. Which makes you wonder what behind the scenes are like. Shame because of its great location.

Where do I start with this amazing welcoming little pub. Cosy friendly atmosphere from the minute you walk in for both locals and visitors alike. Happy smiley & welcoming staff clearly happy at work and happy to greet you. Clean, well lit but still cosy and with a great buzzing atmosphere. I have known this pub for many years and it’s great to have seen it go from its dilapidated state in the hands of previous long term tenants, struggling with short term tenants only interested in making quick money to now over the past year (and hopefully for much longer) being ran by a team who genuinely care about the pub and their customers. Posters around the pub advertising drinks offers, entertainment, bingo, quizzes, sports fixtures. There’s something for everyone here. Had 2 cowboy burgers from a great menu that caters to all. Allergens are clear to see and the online facility for sorting this through the menu is great. From light bites, lunch deals and full ‘pub grub’ options & a pint of Stella and Guinness from the well stocked bar with many different drink options. Glasses were clean & pints well poured tasting great & showing the cellar systems are well maintained. My partner was thrilled to received a “ properly settled” Guinness not the usual rush job most places throw across the bar at you. The burgers arrived after no wait at all and were freshly cooked, juicy and tasty. Fair to say we didn’t leave a crumb. If you’re considering calling into visit wether day tripping or a local. Please do. You will be thrilled with the service, food, drinks and great outdoor seating opportunities (a Keswick rarity) The pub is clearly a labour of love, cared for and the people front of house and behind the scenes are all passionate about making this place a success. All the best to Chris, Emma & the team and long may the twa dogs continue to be a wonderful pub to enjoy for all & next year fingers crossed you do win pub of the year cause I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more!

Arrived as a party of 6 on a busy Friday lunch time; met by a lovely older lady and made very welcoming; they even fussed over our pup. Our drinks were served fast, with help from a charming young girl and we ordered lunch. Even though they were busy the food came out really hot and fresh. The fish and chips (whale & chips) were amazing; a fraction of the cost of what my mum paid in down the day before and far better quality. Mum had the steak which she said was cooked perfectly and we were all very happy. So happy we even had desserts. Thank you everyone it really was a perfect end to our holiday and we can’t wait to visit again

The Twa Dogs inn is a fantastic pub located on the outskirts of Keswick; though primarily a locals pub it is extremely welcoming to all; with all the staff being extremely helpful; kind and chatty. The meal choice is varied; with excellent service and the food quality is fantastic we opted for a steak on our latest visit and it was cooked to perfection; arriving hot and fast. The manager always greets us with a smile and ensures we are well looked after. I recommend this pub to everyone and I can see why it is a Great British Pub of the Year nominee

Very disappointing ! Arrived at 12.30 on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We were told immediately that there was no mac n cheese, which was fine, but then to be told they had no baguettes ( after I’d already paid ) and would I mind having my Philly cheese steak baguette in a nice big bun alarm bells start ringing. How can you have no baguettes on a Saturday at 12.30 ? Anyway I agreed, but it was served in a small brioche bun with tasteless cheese sauce and very tough over done steak. My wife ordered the club sandwich which was very dry and not presented very well. The only positive was the chips. Definitely won’t go back.

Food awful, customer service even worse, calling their customers liars. We had a table booked for 6.30pm. Ordered our drinks at the bar at 6.45pm then ordered our food straight after. At 7.30pm we asked at the bar how long our food will be as we hadn’t received our starters yet, the staff member behind the bar replied you only ordered 10 minutes ago and checked the time which our food order went through on the system and it was saying only 10 minutes ago. There was clearly a delay in their system as we had ordered 45 minutes ago. The staff member then replied saying “cancel your food”. This shows the lack of customer respect and confirms they had not started making our meal yet. Our starters finally arrived after being in the pub for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Our main meal then arrived 2 hours after arriving at the pub. The starters were really nice, however the mains were awful. There was lots of flies around the food also. We then asked the bar staff for a discount off the food as we had waited 2 hours. The bar staff went and got another staff member ?supervisor. The supervisor said we were “rude and abusive” to the staff earlier when asking how long our food will be which is complete lies. We said we have never received an apology for the delay in food to which the supervisor replied “we sent a member of staff to your table to apologise for the delay” which did not happen, again another lie. They did not give us any money off and we paid the full amount. Do not come here unless you want rubbish food, awful customer service and being called rude, abusive and a liar.

Food was fine, nothing amazing and a bit overpriced for what it was. For a property in Keswick it's definitely Keswick prices but not comparable on quality compared to many other restaurants there. The drinks pumps didn't work properly, so our fizzy drinks were flat. There was no baby changing also, so we had to change our baby on the sofa we were sitting on. Polite and kind service regardless.

This "pub with rooms" feels like its on the verge of a new beginning. The room we stayed in was immaculately clean & we and our dogs were given a warm welcome. We didn't get to eat here as were meeting family in town but the pub/restaurant looked nice and the staff were friendly. Its a 10 minute walk to Keswick centre the direct road is busy but if you turn left past the spar you can go through the housing estate which is an bit of a more relaxing walk. The rooms are clean and basic but have all essentials, ensuite, TV, etc. The only issue we had was the bed was a tad on the hard side for us.

Called in for a pint on a Saturday with a pal as we were passing and felt like I’d been time warped back to the 70s/80s. Doesn’t look like a penny has been spent for decades! Such a shame because with an injection of cash could make a nice place.

Pub very clean but quiet. I ordered the home made steak pie with chips: Steak Pie had been microwaved leaving the pastry soggy & rubbery & wasn't cooked properly, frozen veg & over peppered turnip/Swede. My husband had a pork fillet with peppers & he felt like he'd been served a microwave meal too. As for the £5 meals they were no where to be seen. Talk about false advertising to get bums on seats & serve up mediocre food. Will not visit here again

popped in a couple of times for a beer after being out walking - good choice of quality ales and friendly service - didn't eat here but what I saw looked good - well worth popping in to see the Bogart

My husband, myself and our 13 year old son visited The Brasserie two days ago on a Saturday evening. We were able to walk from our cottage accomadation to the Brasserie. On arrival to the venue we were very impressed by the beautiful driveway leading down to the Brasserie. The whole establishment is obviously very well kept with beautiful spring flowers and plants and lovely lighting down the drive. On entering the Brasserie however, we were suprised that the decor didnt appear to match the rest of the hotel. We were approached by a friendly waiter on arrival who took our drinks and food order promptly. He checked we were all ok during the first half of our meal and we felt his interactions with us were appropriate, not too overpowering or disinterested. My husband ordered the mushroom stroganoff. He felt it was quite ordinary and bland. I ordered the brushetta and a side portion of fries. I felt the brushetta was overpriced but the fries were beautiful. My son ordered the pizza which he said was really tasty! During the meal.another member of staff( female) arrived and we have to say it was quite an experience! We had ordered a second round of drinks. I had ordere a lakes gin and a small bottle of fever tree ginger ale to mix it with. I was allowing my son to taste the ginger ale from the bottle. The waitress appeared out of nowhere and snatched the bottle from his hand with a resounding"no!" It shocked us all! We reassured her that this was not an alcoholuc drink. She then commented in quite a rude manner when my husband wiped his nose gently on a napkin and also told us later on during the meal that she was used to working in the " posh restaurant". During our meal she stood over us on several.occasions which we felt was inappropriate and a bit unnerving! We felt she would benefit from some more training from more experienced members of staff. We did realise she was young and and was probably trying to.please (.a little too much). We were very patient with her but felt there may be future guests who may not be quite so tolerant! A little later during the evening my husband and our son went to use the toilet closest to the Brasserie. They came back and both told me there was smashed glass on the floor and a dirty nappy. My husband reported this to a member of staff from the spa team. On leaving the Brasserie we walked through to the hotel reception as we were all so concerned about the state of the toilet and wanted to ensure it had been sorted and the message had got trough. The lady on hotel reception didnt appear to know anything about this but we did see her promptly speaking to another hotel member of staff after our conversation. The only other disappointing part to.our meal was the cheeseboard. It sounded fantastic on the Brasserie menu but when it arrived we were informed that some of the cheeses were not available. The waiter did however add a few extra for us but we felt this could have been mentioned before we went ahead with the order. Sadly it was a disappointing experience as it could be a fabulous setting within the grounds of an obviously gorgeous hotel.

We were staying in Keswick on the first of November 2024 to celebrate two 50th birthday’s. Keswick was extremely busy and four eating establishments we went to couldn’t accommodate our party of seven. However the Lake road inn had vacant tables which was great and now I understand why. It was 2.30pm and the kitchen was closing at 5.00pm so they explained the menu was limited (fair enough). After viewing the limited menu we decided it couldn’t accommodate our party so thought we would have a drink whilst booking another venue on line for an hours time. Ordered a Guinness then a glass of Malbec. No Malbec and then discovered a lot of the ales were unavailable too. We decided this just wasn’t for us and said to the bar it doesn’t matter and left. We were chased across the pub by a member of staff with a card reader to pay for the half Guinness that was settling (the first drink on my order) he said I had to pay as it was wastage? Like nothing ever gets spilt behind the bar??.I reluctantly paid for it and asked for an additional empty half glass in order to share it so we could quickly move on. We moved out side and found the empty half glass was dirty and the Guinness had a black hair in the head. We poured it down the drain. We love Keswick and the people are lovely, friendly and accommodating. So please don’t waste your money at the Lake Road Inn. There are so many better establishments than here!! Avoid!! As a party of seven there for food and drinks we would have spent £200+, so their loss!! We had a lovely meal at the Pack Horse Inn. Lamb burger special was tremendous!!! I highly recommend the Pack horse inn, the pheasant, or the George. I can only hope The lake Road Inn falls into administration and a decent proprietor takes it over. Harsh but fair.

The state of this place continues its sad decline. Standards have dropped significantly since my last visit a couple of months ago. The men's toilets are an absolute disgrace. There's one serviceable cubicle- but the toilet bowl is hanging off the wall and the door lock has been bodged up so many times it barely provides the necessary privacy. The stench from the urinals is so bad - you can tell when the toilet door opens as it wafts into the pub. Not really what you want to be smelling when you're eating and drinking- it's bad enough when you have to go to the toilet . The staff are great but completely up against it as there are so few of them. Dirty glasses pile up on tables untouched. This place is desperate for a makeover. I for one won't be rushing back. I know the beer is cheap but, I'm afraid I'd rather pay "proper pub" prices and have a degree of comfort rather than sit in a what effective looks and smells like a cattle market. Come on 'Spoons. You can do much much better than this.

Fish was cooked fresh, batter was lovely and crispy, couldn't fault it! We ate in, the tables were clean and it was nice to get in out of the elements. The free to play retro arcade machine at the back of the shop was pretty cool!
