AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! Went to this establishment quite recently and the service and food was horrible and I believe this was the cause for sickness in the following days.

I went in yesterday and bought two fish & chips and two satchets of sauce price advertised for fish & chips was £5.95 and the sauce was 35p a satchet when charged I thought the guy said £12.60 paid by card and they've charged me £18.60 the fish was disgusting batter was soggy and the chips were not any better wasnt worth £12 never mind £18

Came here at Easter and week following August Bank Holiday. Was a bit of a wait at Easter but no such issues most recent visit. Both visits the fish has been great. Proper white meaty fish both times. Curry sauce decent too. Would definitely recommend.

Very slow and wasn't a busy period

Always a good sign if there’s a queue right? Wrong! After waiting in line to order, we then patiently waited for our 2 x fish and chips, both with curry sauce. Eventually our fish and chips were portioned up. The fish had literally just come out of the fryer and straight onto the chips. Then the staff decided they’d run out of curry sauce. Our fish and chips stayed portioned up, in a bag on the counter for approximately 10 minutes whilst they made another batch of curry sauce. 45 minutes from entering the chip shop, we walked out with our food (I wanted to complaint and request fresh food, but my husband didn’t want to wait any longer than we already had). The chips were anaemic. The fish disgusting, the batter thick and under cooked and the grease had smothered the chips. It was all cold, and the curry sauce was like water. Definitely won’t be returning!

Tiniest portion I've ever experienced from any chip shop ever. Ordered 3× chip butties and the chips didn't even cover the bun on any of them. They tasted OK, but there simply wasn't enough. There were long queues at the chippy in the centre, but presumably because people know you get a proper portion there. We won't be coming back to this one.

Absolutely lovely food, great service from the staff and they stayed open after closing time to feed everyone in the queue! Brilliant

Other restaurants were packed so I really had no other choice but to order a takeout from The Lakes. Asked for fish&chips; fish was bland, had absolutely no flavor at all, and the chips were soggy. The lady at the counter asked if I wanted salt and vinegar for my f&c, to which I said yes, but I tasted nothing out of it. The beef burger was the worst I have ever had, asked for ketchup but it wasn’t in it as well. Awful experience. Waited for a long time only to get microwaved beef. Do not eat here.

Every single chip was brown and bruised, portion size was enough to feed a small child and a there must be a salt & vinegar shortage in this part of the world as a teeny, tiny, weeny, smidge of salt & the smallest drip of vinegar was sprinkled on top of the 10 chips that were on offer. Absolute pants to be honest. I contemplated not eating the thing at all but then I remembered that I'm greedy & was starving, so down the hatch it went. It was still pants though. 3/10.

The gentleman that served me was friendly and pleasant but sadly the fish and chips were not pleasant. They were cooked fresh and to order but tasted of nothing except the oil they were cooked in. I couldn't finish them and am now in need of another fish and chip shop in Keswick so any recommendations greatly appreciated!

Bought our tea from here. Fish and chips for 3 and a carton of mushy peas, all for less than £28. Not bad going for this day and age! The fish was a good size and the batter wasn't too thick. Freshly made and not greasy at all. Definitely be back when we're in the area again. Thank you.

Good food reasonably priced and you can sit in

Called recently, on two occasions, and was not pleased with the chips on both occasions. Fish (cod) was ok, but the chips , tasted as if they had been cooked a while before I purchased them, very hard, and tasteless. never again, I am afraid.

Fish was cooked fresh but flavorless and bland. Hot chips but again no flavor. Service was terrible, several people ordered and served fish and chips after we ordered. I asked for for HP and Ketchup when ordering. Instead of charging me with the meal they charged me a second time. Very unfriendly staff. Dine in but no public toilet available to wash up. Wouldn’t come back.

Bit overpriced at £8 for fish and chips, would've expected 2 pieces of fish for that price, which is what I pay locally. Nothing wrong with the quality

Been this chippy a few times usually OK but this time chips were awful, under cooked, greasy and poor flavour. As a family we threw most of the chips in the bin...May be an off day or new staff either way won't go back.

Well, this was definitely the worst chip shop Ive ever visited. Three trays of chips a sausage and small carton of curry was approx £13.00 and to be honest, the sausage was eaten as was the curry, the rest was binned. Chips tasted as if they had been left on the warming shelf for hours.Certainly would not recommend this one even if you were starving, wait for a Red Cross Food parcel!

Awful awful awful. Chips were grey and tasted all wrong - like they were going to make us ill. I’ve never had such poor chips and I’ve been around a while! Fish and sausage weren’t much better. We put 90% of it in the bin. I can only think they’re using a strange oil because of shortages or the food hadn’t been stored properly because let’s face it it’s not a difficult dish!

The chips are cooked per customer meaning that you get fresh chips with every order, the fish is also cooked to order. This is the fish and chip shop you have to go to when in keswick. Dine in or out, hot and cold drinks, freshly cooked food and great service.

Lovely service, they were the only fish and ships place open, so had to wait in a queue but it was worth it. We had a huge order for 19 people but they were able to accommodate without any troubles or delays.

We haven’t been able to try the food from here, or any other Fish and Chip Shop in Keswick as they were all closed. This one states that it is open until 9pm on here, but it was closed at 8.20pm (Tuesday night). Not used to Fish and Chip Shops closing at such an early time, as where we come from they are open until at least 10pm if not later. Anyway you missed a sale and I doubt we were the only ones. Went home for a bacon sandwich.

Probably the rudest staff I've ever encountered ever! Anything you want they don't do. Also they wouldn't stop staring at me. Only reason I know this as inwas looking out the window and both female members of staff wouldnt stop staring . felt very uncomfortable in there. Asked for a few items they didn't do it they also put the wrong sauce on wrong salad over charged me. Deffinelty won't be going back if I could write worse things believe me I would. Go to the weatherspoons across the road.

Woman behind counter doesn’t know customer service

Went there on the 25th of September, no que and prices were good. The person serving behind the counter was a bit miserable but not too bad, sadly you cant eat in but I guess thats due to covid. All together its a decent chippy and I would go there again.

Waited ages for fresh chips but they were lovely. Good amount of chips and they were very fresh. I really enjoyed the sausage and it had tons of flavour and was of high quality, especially for £4 as for chips + Sausage. Only complaint is that staff seemed like they didn't want to be there.

The sausage and chips were OK. They give decent sized portions. They charge for paper carry bags, if you have a distance to travel this will not be sufficient as the bag falls apart very easily

We called in recently for a takeaway meal. We wanted 2 regular and 2 mini fish & chips. However there was only one size available with fish at £5.00 and chips at £2.50; the portions being somewhere between the two normal sizes so we thought it was a little expensive but the food quality was very good. Proper Covid restrictions were in place. However, the big problem was a very poor customer service attitude from the woman that served us, not polite in the least, borderline offensive and I really don't think I had done anything to upset her. Anyway, that is my personal opinion.

The worst customer service in the UK. What happened to think people can be sooo rude and obnixious?. Short heavy woman when asked if she would put fish separate to chips, proceeded to tell me I need to pay for her extra time for her packing. When challenged she became more rude, I would have walked out had I not put the chef to the trouble of cooking the fish. Never in my entire life have I been met with such poor service and bad manners. I am sure my criticism will be challenged as the assistant is happy for an argument and will totally deny or refute my claims. Please study previous unhappy reviews about this business, there seems to be a pattern maybe when this older assistant is on duty......

Dishonest and confrontational After returning with the food which was wrong Female member of staff became confrontational waving her arms around and raising her voice stating we ordered sausage and chips. We ordered fish and chips and paid the price of fish and chips upon working out the price. We definitely dont eat red meat so it was not our error, we requested a refund based solely on the behaviour of the member of staff. It was a lengthy process that was completely unnecessary and quite frankly stressful for my family. Businesses need our support right now not negative reviews but this business needs to reflect on their staff behaviour if they expect to continue given the current world situation. We left short changed because they insisted we paid for sausage and chips even when we did the math for them. It was easier to avoid further conflict and purchase food at an alternative shop. Went there on 23/4, ordered two Cumberland Sausages £3.30 each but they are huge TBF. Only one was cooked so I said I’ll just take one as they are so big. The lady said it’ll only take a couple of mins, which to be fair it did. Only problem was the one they “cooked” in two mins was completely raw in the middle. I just binned it because with Covid you had to wait outside and be called and by this time there was a large queue so I couldn’t face returning. Shame because the other sausage was nice, as were chips. Won’t ever go back, plenty of other places to choose from.

Customer service is atrocious, a smile or eye contact from the woman behind the counter would of been nice. Didn’t like the fact she was serving me food without a mask on either. Ordered two meals and the woman put it all in one tray and charged me for an extra tiny tray! Food was soggy and chips tasted off, how can you get them wrong?!
