What a shame there isn’t a live trip advisor feed outside the door. This is a dive. Ridiculously over priced tourist trap. Insanely expensive for the very low quality fare.

Loved the sausage and mash and a delicious pint of Cumbria. The portion was decent. The service was on point. The ambience was relaxed

Keswick was busy but this pub had space so decided to give it a try. It’s a traditional pub with friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. We looked at the menu and all commented on it having a variety of options. We ordered a lasagne and three baguettes. Unfortunately, not a great deal was homemade (although we do acknowledge the menu didn’t state it would be) which is a shame for a cosy pub like this. The lasagne was tasty but the baguettes, despite being huge, were underwhelming and all came with frozen chips. The tuna mayo was fine but pricey. Fish fingers were 3 cheap frozen fingers which barely filled the baguette. All ate as was hungry but definitely not worth the price - sorry!

Trying to find somewhere to eat in Keswick proved difficult but walked into this one without issue. Looking at the menu it had good coverage to suit all requirements. The bar would not open a tab so paid separately gor drinks and food. The food was obviously not home made. Understand why it was easy to get in

Very disappointed with the quality of our food today. When ordering the barman continued to empty the dishwasher, barely gaining eye contact as he took our order. We ordered 4 meals, all apparently served with fresh vegetables. All meals arrived with luke warm frozen vegetables and meat options, Cumberland sausage and steak and ale pie were all of a very low quality food. A massive disappointment!

Staff were very helpful and friendly but the food wasn’t the best. Say it was prob on a par with wetherspoons if you like that standard. Decent array of beers.

To start the staff were so friendly and very nice people! The food we were told would be a 30 mins wait which we were fine with, starters came 30 mins later. After we had to ask the staff, the mains then came well over an hour after the starters, the burger had no flavour, the bun was hard, the chips were obviously frozen and the garlic bread was not cooked properly. Oh and I found a hair in my coleslaw which also didn’t taste very nice! Could never recommend this place for food, only if you’re having drinks as the staff are lovely.

Great pub, good range of beers and spirits. Often a little quieter than other pubs in the area. Drinks seem to be a little more expensive (compared with next door), but if you want a quieter pub for chatting this may be a good option.

What can I say... the food didn't rock my world if I have to be honest. We knew there will be a typical pub food but I hoped it'll be better. As a vegetarian I ordered halloumi burger, just to be safe, because I thought you can't do it wrong. I tried to take a good photo but no matter what angle I tried it wasn't impressive. I had one slice of tomato, some lettuce and four slices of halloumi. The cheese doesn't look amazing but it tasted OK. The bap wasn't from the top shelf but all together it tasted ok. Addition of caramelised onions or some sauces would be better, maybe mushrooms, something which would make it more exciting. Chips were good too. My husband's steak and ale pie was good.

Friendly atmosphere, lovely traditional food. We saw the specials board too late so I recommend you check that out too. Great service.

Don’t often leave reviews but feel I have to here Genuinely the worst burger I’ve ever had in my life, bun was off and hard, burger poor quality and probably frozen, no salad. Not difficult at all to make a nice burger - I’d be ashamed sending that out to people; and for £17 😩

This dog friendly pubs decor is lovely modern and chic. The food however is low budget at a high price. We ordered their fish finger baguette with tartare sauce at a cost of £11.50 what arrived were 3 budget fish fingers on a dry baguette with two little plastic sachets of tartare sauce a handful of undressed lettuce leaves and half a tomato and a couple of pieces of cucumber and a handful of oven chips. What’s wrong with that I hear you ask. No butter on bread , tartare sauce void of gherkins just very poor value for money . My advice just have a drink and stay away from fish finger baguettes

Nice pint of Guinness. Didn’t eat but the burgers looked really nice.

Staff were friendly service prompt food was good what more can i say. Place was clean and welcoming.

Charged 14.60 for Guinness and double Gin and tonic ...Next round same drinks charged 16.95....when asked why was given some weird reason..."doubled up "....at least Dick Turpin wore a mask ...keep an eye on what you get charged...won't be going there again.

Was a wet day in Keswick and was in early so wasn't busy. Food was lovely as were staff would definitely come back x

Was going to give 1 star, but upped it to two as the service was excellent. However the food was quite frankly...insulting. I ordered a cheeseburger which came with a side of chips and coleslaw and paid just shy of £17. The chips were obviously from a bag of frozen chips and the serving was tiny, the coleslaw was clearly store bought and the cheeseburger itself, the burger patty was cheap and wouldn't be surprised if it came frozen, wilted lettuce and a tiny slice of tomato. For £17 I would expect fresh cut chips, homemade slaw, fresh ground beef patty and plenty of fresh crisp salad on the burger. Oxford should put a photo of this meal in the dictionary next to the meaning of depressing.

Such a disappointment! We visited here 2 years ago and had such a lovely meal… 2 years on we looked forward to stopping in again after our afternoon in Keswick. Today we came in after 5pm for food, only a couple of other people at the bar. We where made to feel like we where a annoyance to the man behind the bar, when ordering! We ordered burgers which arrived in bread buns that I would say equals the quality from a burger van. Another man came and cleared tables nearby and never once stopped to ask if everything was ok. When leaving we walked past the pub next door which was full, which tells you everything you need to know… Such a shame.

We visit Keswick a couple of times a year and there are some great options for food, but this pub really disappointed. We paid £15 for steak and ale pie, mash and veg, for that price you’d normally expect properly prepared fresh food but we were served with instant mash, frozen vegetables and a pie we could have bought from Asda. The decor is nice and the lady serving was lovely but you can get far better food in Keswick for the same price.

Waiter (man on bar) started clearing my boyfriends plate as he had finished first and cutterly baskets when I was still eating my meal so rude. Food was average could be better 4th April visited

Brilliant visit here on Wednesday evening this last week. Great meal and atmosphere.

Dropped in for a bite to eat after a trip out on Derwent Water. Living in Grasmere we regularly visit Keswick and have visited a few times only for drinks but never food. That said, we decided to have a meal and we're lucky to find a table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made my toddler feel welcome and excited for his chicken nuggets and chips. The tables were very sticky and I was grateful I had long sleeves I could pull down. My wife had the tomato and basil soup and sadly it was way too salty, which is saying a lot as she can be a salt fiend. I had a cheese burger with chips and slaw and found myself deeply unimpressed. A plain white bun not even toasted, thin disc burger with token cheese and some shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato. The presentation was alright but the dish just lacked a bit more care. The plus side was my boys meal which was a very good portion size and his eyes were bigger than his stomach that we brought some home for him. I'd definitely go back for pint and bowl of chips again, but not much else.

Out of the many pubs in Keswick I had not been here. After a wet day's walk we were greeted by the friendly guy behind the bar and felt welcomed in, good choice of beer and drinks. Had a decent menu choice of good hearty meals.

Will not go back. Sub standard food compared to other Keswick options. Other places were very busy but this place was not. We now understand why. Food was poor. Not worth a visit. Avoid.

6 of us went for lunch. Dog friendly, which suited us. Menu was typical pub baked potato, burgers, and baguettes. We all ordered food and it was really below average, if you hadn't paid up front you would have asked for money off. The baked potatoes were brick hard, the burgers were wafer thin, quality of a cheap frozen ones. Completely over priced for the quality of food. No coleslaw or anything with burgers, yet e were asked if we wanted it. You could get 4 Mcdonald burgers for the price of 1 burger here, you felt like you had been mugged! Staff were functional but not welcoming and only one beer on tap. Of all the places to eat, Keswick, don't go here, it's really disappointing.

Nice first visit here. Just had two pints of perfectly poured Guinness. The service was equally perfect and we were made to feel very welcome by lovely Chris (Geordie guy with winning smile). He never stopped still for a minute. If we hadn't been there for only one night we would definitely have returned for more.

We found this place for our lunch when we arrived for our weekend stay. And it’s lovely was nice and warm with the log fire on. There was 3 adults and 2 had Cumberland sausage in a baguette with chips and salad was longer than foot long was massive. Other person had lasagne which they said was lovely. The staff are very friendly and great atmosphere. We popped back in for drinks and again greeted nicely. Food and drinks nice and we would go back.

Fantastic service from Luke as usual, the only barman that remembers ours drinks months after being in the bar. Always cine back for the friendly service.

Well never lets u down every time I go there is great bar staff friendly and always helpful and Sundays dinner is real homemade mash and beef r amazing but then again it’s all amazing and a great price keep up the great work love it 100%

Food was just ok, we were disappointed to be honest on this visit, have eaten there previously and were always happy, but this time the food was very average. Cumberland sausage with mash, with Bisto gravy, 3 bean chilli was just ok, just not what we were used to.. still a really nice friendly dog friendly pub which is worth a visit.

Nice cosy bar, good range of drinks and bar food. Lunch menu was expensive so I’d just go for the main menu instead. We all enjoyed our food: burger, chilli con carne, sausage and mash and cheeseburger with a starter of nachos. Only thing missing was guacamole from the nachos.

Run out of every beer,you really don’t feel very welcome it’s almost like a chore that the customer is here in the first place

Positives - Nice bar area, lovely open fire. Friendly staff. Negatives - Food was disappointing, looked to be low quality freezer type food, chips were not home made.

Visited the pub on Friday 8th December an again on Saturday 9th December. Lovely pub, staff very friendly, ordered some food which was lovely. Derwentwater Ale is worth trying. Was going to visit again on the evening of the 9th to listen to some live music, unfortunately the campsite we were on was evacuated due to flooding. Looking forward to our next visit on our next trip to the Lakes.

Only 1 chef on... on a weekend,near Xmas! Waited an hour for a bowl of veg soup and a plate a veg (veggie Sunday lunch). Soup didn't taste great... no gravy offered for veg. Sad really.

Ordered food plus sausages for three dogs. The presentation of the sausages outweighed the rest of the offering. My burger was rare and dripping in blood, which had seeped into the lettuce and bread roll. I asked for it to be changed but was told ‘medium rare burgers were standard’ therefore they refused to replace my meal. My husband’s burger was well cooked btw. We asked for it to be returned to the grill at least and for the roll to be changed - this was done with the caveat’ it might be burned’. Honestly how difficult is it to cook a burger? Really disappointed in the lack of customer care and below standard food.

Great atmosphere, especially the live act on Saturday night.

We were walking around Keswick and needed something to eat. There were nine of us and we hadn’t booked anywhere. Went into the Lake Road Inn and were told the kitchen had just closed but if we wouldn’t mind a short wait they could open it again for us. Our group had a wide selection of the menu and everyone enjoyed their meal. As folk who travel a lot, this type of service is unfortunately very rare in parts of the UK. A lovely show of Lake District hospitality. Would definitely recommend and next time we’re in the area we will go back for sure.

Called in for an evening meal. We almost walked out because there was nobody serving behind the bar. One member of staff came from the back, ignored the customers and then disappeared again. Just on the point of walking out a barman appeared and we got served. The food came quickly and was OK but nothing to get excited about. Whilst we were eating two other couples walked out because there was nobody behind the bar. One couple even joked that they could help themselves and nobody would know. The pub soon emptied which is at odds with all the other pubs that always seem to be packed.

Went here for my grand daughters 15th birthday. She had a sip of my wifes drink and the bar guy came and confiscated the drink quite rudly then before we left started clearing the table and almost suggesting we should leave. Will never go back here again.

Braught my mother a drink and she let my daughter drink it so the manager took the drink away he didnt even ask who the drink belonged to.

Great little dog friendly pub. Lovely bar meals and service was friendly and quick. The dog even got a treat. Music was great too.

Husband's birthday so thought we would treat ourselves to lunch. Baked potato was totally undercooked and unedible. Burger bun was stale, chips tasted of old oil. Table sticky, menus were too. Never again.

Called in for a beer after eating elsewhere as the kitchen was closed. Girl behind the bar seemed less than impressed to be there. Beer good despite this.

We have been to this inn A few times over the years when visiting Keswick . Always had A lovely meal, this time we had fish and chips for four wow the fish was lovely really large potion the beer batter was delicious. We like that it's dog friendly too.

After sampling a couple of the other Pubs in Keswick, our experience at the Lake Road Inn was very disappointing. Despite there being a long queue at the bar only one person (who looked totally disinterested) was serving. The food menu was uninspiring and took a long time to appear. We didn’t return.

Great little pub. We visited for an early lunch so got a seat inside easily. We had the fish finger baguette and the lasagne. Both were delicious and really good portions.

Was very nice! Food was fine, outdoor dining was nice and indoor dinning certainly looked nice. Staff where very friendly and helpful.

Decided to sit outside for a drink after a walk. It was very busy but managed to get a table outside. The real ale is good here. We decided to eat here as well but I wish we hadn’t bothered. The food is not great. We ordered nachos which when they came were a bowl of tortilla chips with some partly melted cheese in the middle and a very small pot of sour cream and salsa on the side. The fish finger baguette had 3 not very good quality fish fingers inside. Chips were ok just standard frozen chips. I would definitely stop in for a drink again but would give the food a miss!

Decent pub with way more seating that may be apparent at first glance. If it looks full, go through to the yard at the back which has another two rooms off the yard. Decent selection of beers.

This is a delightful hikers pub in the middle of Keswick. Cosy, welcoming and reasonably priced. The food choices are broad and the ales have many taps! Grab a table!

Only used their outside seating for a drink. Weather was warm,so pleasant enough to sit outside.

It's OK. Busy busy keswick on a Friday summer evening . This was the only place we could get in, sat out on the back area. Food took around 50 mins. The food was OK, no more no less. Not cheap, 3 stack burger or the 'mountain stack as they call it' and ham egg and chips. The ham egg and chips looked a bit miserable. Wasn't asked how the food was at any point.

The Atacama desert holds more moisture than their fish finger baguette; and the breaded chicken and bacon baguette made my wife go into shock. We had to carry her to the nearest Gregg's on a stretcher. The beer was adequate.

Pleasant, attentative staff and decent drinks

Probably the worst pub I’ve been to in a long time. Forgot our food order and when I chased it after an hour of waiting, they originally told us that ‘they’ve run out of food’, but then said they could ‘knock something up’. Two plates appeared with completely different meals than we ordered. Don’t visit if you want any choice in what you get fed. Barman also stopped pouring the persons drink in front halfway through filling to serve someone else.
