We ordered room service from this restaurant. The most awful coronation chicken arrived. I asked for brown, they gave me white bread. Not a bit of raisin nor greens. It’s my favourite sandwich and I couldn’t even have the other half. It’s tasteless and it stuck to your gums. We also had the meat pizza. Not bad but not much meat. The curry was also tasteless and so was the avocado bruschetta. The best thing there was the seasonal vegetables. Loved it! Breakfast here was also good.

I'm not saying the staff aren't working hard but, It's got to be the worst breakfast I've EVER been served! And the worst coffee in Northern Europe! And they got my Mrs order dead wrong, they get one star, because the cakes they serve are superb!

Thank you so much to Michelle and the team for amazing service and great food when we visited for my Grandad’s funeral. The food was all fresh and hot, the drinks were served fast, and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back!

Filthy dirty. Nearly all empty tables piled high with dirty pots. Had a cake which was nice but had to wait over 20 minutes for a pot of tea. All the staff looked miserable, not one smile between them. The whole place needs a good deep clean. I would not recommend. Someone needs to manage the staff and actually get them working. It's such a shame as the garden centre is great and has so much to offer. I will continue to visit the garden centre but will be finding somewhere clean with sociable staff in future for food and refreshments

If you want a special meal with great food and fantastic service, don't go to The Trout. We were a family of 5, and we were all so disappointed with our experience. We waited almost an hour for our food, and when it arrived it certainly wasn't 4*. After we got our meals we were ignored by the staff. Nobody checked whether the food was nice, the plates weren't cleared after we finished eating, we weren't asked if we wanted more drinks, or desserts or coffee. And when we paid, the restaurant manager charged us for another table's food! This hotel has really gone downhill. Save your money and go elsewhere. We don't recommend it and won't return.

What a horrible experience. M & S should be higher quality than this. We were placed on a cramped table for two in the middle of the cafe almost on top of other tables either side. As we were having cakes and a main meal there was hardly any room. So what was the food like? The All Day Breakfast was poor with a dried up piece of bacon and cold poached eggs. The fish and chips was poor with overcooked fish and dried up peas. The chocolate and Victoria Sandwich cakes were good. But come on M&S the main meals were very poor. Too crowded! Not recommended and surprised M&S are serving this standard of food. Very disappointing and not cheap.

When the Cafe service is slow and you have to queue for a long time, and you have to deal with parking issues on top of that, it is not worth spending time to relax with friends in the cafe. I mentioned this to Parking Eye regarding a fine and provided evidence I was a customer in Booths meeting my friends and still ended up having to pay for the parking fine. It is ridiculous that there isn’t an option to pay to stay beyond 2 hours when it is perfectly reasonable to spend a bit more than 2 hours in a cafe with slow service. They should reconsider ParkingEye instead of looting their customers over silly parking fines and not offering options to stay longer. I will not be visiting this establishment again and will advise my friends to do the same. Disappointing because I do enjoy visiting this place quite often

The food was delightful - compliments to the chef and the service was excellent - Even though all the staff were nice and friendly- the two young lads Owen & Jamie provided an excellent service and both worked very hard. They were friendly and helpful - Nice to see these days - will definitely visit again.
