The worst 3 course meal I’ve ever had! The beef croquettes just tasted of bbq sauce… to random! The pizza was basically a frozen pizza with a few extra toppings on. How hard is it to make some dough balls really? It was just awful for a ‘hotel’ quality main, I didn’t even eat half of it, the waitress just looked at me and didn’t say a word. I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert….. microwaved stale cake with freezing cold sauce poured over it and a scoop of ice cream with lumps of ice in it. Yummy! No wonder I saw uber eats being delivered!!!!

I rarely leave bad reviews but this was genuinely one of the worst meals I can remember having. Beef croquettes - awful texture and tasted of cheap BBQ sauce with a ‘siracha mayo’ which tasted suspiciously similar to Helmans burger sauce Pea, leak and asparagus risotto - I don’t even think you can call this a risotto. It was basically rice in pea water with cubed asparagus and leak. I have honestly made better meals in my home economics classes in school. To add insult to injury it was almost EIGHTEEN pounds. Truly shocking. Sticky toffee pudding - by this point we didn’t even want to eat anymore but we had bought a package so it was all included. I didn’t think you could go that wrong with a sticky toffee pudding but they found a way. It was burnt, cold and bitter. Awful. My partner got a burger (£19.00!?!?!?!!) and a cheesecake which were equally terrible. Had it not been for the package we had already booked and paid for, we would have left after the first course. The waitress was okay but it was all very amateur and slapdash. I would expect this sort of thing from a hungry horse pub but when they’re charging almost £20 per main you expect a bit more. Avoid at all costs.

Booked lunch with friends on the terrace today and unfortunately left disappointed and still hungry. Pre booked Al la Carte menu. This was not available with smaller sandwich menu as only other option. Brought sandwiches with cold chips on arrival that was returned to the kitchen. My chicken poke salad was nice but very small. I left still hungry (£20 later) having made a sandwich back at home immediately afterwards. My Chicken was also lukewarm; I’m breast feeding so would have otherwise sent back my meal but had to inhale my food before baby needed me again. And didn’t have faith in the speed of staff to correct this. Good choice of kids menu that was let down by the frustrations of a 9 year old; who was kept waiting and had her meal served last when the party had almost finished eating (some 15-20 mins later). Note to chef : kids meals should always come first! I actually thought there was an error on the food order when received the bill it was so expensive. The standard lemonade (with loads of ice) was £5.80! And to top it off we were charged a service charge despite not receiving table service; as we literally had to go to the bar to order and pay ourselves. No one checked if everything was ok after all meals served to air complaints. Can see why the place was largely empty. Shame as the sitting area was lovely. We won’t be returning back, especially at those prices!

Poor service and food. I would not return. We arrived for a booking and was seen to and sat down promptly, which was expected as we were one of only 2/3 tables in the restaurant. We were asked if we would like to order drinks, so we asked for a drinks menu to be told that they did not have a drinks menu. We proceeded by ordering two soft drinks. A short while later, I went up to the bar to check what draught lager was on offer, to then see a wine menu and a cocktail list menu. Why these could not have been brought over to us? I don’t know. I ordered a pint of lager and a glass of wine. We then ordered our food and waited. 3 tables were seated after we arrived and we had noticed all of their food had arrived and there was still no sign of our food. After around a 50 minute wait, I asked a waiter to chase up our food - 10 minutes later they returned with the meals. I presume the meal orders did not make it to the kitchen staff, as I am unsure how it could have taken that long with the restaurant being so quiet. Both meals were cold and nobody came over at all to ask how the food was. Very poor experience even given how quiet the restaurant was. Would not make an effort to return and wouldn’t recommend.

Go into Chester proper, don't bother visiting this place for food unless you want a mediocre meal. £68.78 per person, cocktails included. You'd expect more from Hilton.

I had a Moroccan pizza and my wife had margarita. Both very nice pizza dough, cooked well and good flavours. Not out of this world but I would happily eat here again Serving staff are really welcoming and the place has a good atmosphere. Probably a bit pricey for what it is, but can't complain too much given I enjoyed it!

3 course meal was included in our spa break deal. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The pornstar martini cocktail was delicious! Also had breakfast here, there was so much choice! 10/10!

Food is edible , pub grub, but the F&B manager really needs to sort this out. Well over priced for this standard is just not acceptable

OK very corporate, but afternoon tea was nice.

Whilst it is a reasonable attractive setting, especially in the summer when the garden is open, the service and value for money is appalling. In my experience, bar service is awful and the prices are eye-watering. The food is bad to average but way over priced.

Breakfast was poor. Sausages were hard and cheap, hash browns and eggs were cold. Somehow the apple juice was warm. No black pudding. We didn’t have time to address this on the day as we were off to a wedding. Don’t mind paying £18 for a breakfast but not when it can be beaten by weatherspoons.

Good service and nice atmosphere, but the food (margarita pizza and beef burger) was very bland and certainly not worth the price.

Service is generally terrible. Each time I’ve eaten in the restaurant over the past year it’s been the same. So aware it’s not a one off. I’d appreciate if it was busy, but it wasn’t and rarely is. The politeness of the actual serving staff, they’re lovely, but it seems they’ve no direction from anyone senior to co-ordinate how to provide effective and adequate service to customers. We sat down for 40mins before we got any hot drinks. Then another 50 mins before our pre-booked afternoon tea was brought over to us. Once finished, the plates were not taken away - for a considerable amount of time - and we have to find someone to pay the actual bill. I suspect this is a training issue and a lack of managerial co-ordination. All staff seemed oblivious to the fact that’s just not acceptable when delivering a paid for service, it’s quite embarrassing for an established organisation. Maybe have the servers & managers there for afternoon tea so they can experience waiting 40 mins for a drink and then another 50 mins for afternoon tea? It genuinely might give them some insight into customer perspective then. It could be so easy!

Unfortunately the food does not match the aesthetic of this restaurant. It was inedible. The food is overpriced and does not meet the expectations you'd expect from a Hilton hotel. Unfortunately the food standards don't match the marketing of the hotel as a luxury stay which is a real shame. Would not recommend.

Excellent service, brilliant food. We dined here during a stay, and after not receiving the best service in the main hotel, we were a bit intrigued to see what dinner would be like! Dinner was fab - the speed of service and the food itself was perfect, alongside the staff. The breakfast was also great, served buffet style. However, at one point we did overhear a few of the staff moaning about some of the customers - they may want to think about having these conversations somewhere they can’t be overheard, instead of just at the side of the restaurant! Overall, two great meals.

We stayed here for a last stop on our Christmas weekend away. Service was poor from the start, when they went to check our table was ready and then didn’t come back for a while. Once we were sat down, no one came to take a drinks order for 15 minutes. Then once the drinks order was placed, the food order was taken . Food arrived 15 minutes later and 30 minutes later still no drinks. When the drinks did arrived they didn’t know which drinks were what . When mains arrived, I’ve seen better frozen food from Iceland than what we were presented with, ordered the pork loin which was served as a double portion, WHY!! vegetables undercooked from being Aldente, terrible gravy n potatoes were awful . Not once were we asked how the food was and never asked for any sauces. All the servers didn’t know how to smile and were so nonchalant and ignorant when serving. Not what we expect from a Hilton Doubletree. Poor show

My wife and I called in on our way to the Liverpool to Belfast ferry. We had stayed there in July and had a meal which was fine so why not call again? I honestly wish we hadn't. We both ordered the chicken and colcannon. No word of a lie but our meals arrived within 5 minutes which surprised us because we were relaxing with our drinks. Coming from Northern Ireland we have eaten a few colcannon over the years. We both found only 1 very small piece of a leaf of cabbage in our mash which was so hot it was not possible to eat without risk of burning our skin. Clearly microwaved. As for the chicken, mine was particularly tough and dry, probably had been cooked and kept in a heated container. My wife's was much similar. When we indicated that we wanted to pay, the waiter asked us if we had enjoyed the meals and I said that the chicken was tough and dry. I didn't mention the "colcannon" because after I commented on the chicken he just grunted and shrugged his shoulders. No apology, no chef coming out to apologise or explain why the meal arrived so quickly. I understand that there's an amount of prep involved with most meals but that was ridiculous. As my title says, our meals were disappointing.

A large table of 13, service was prompt, food was hot and waiters took great care of each and every one of us. Thank you

Choices and quality of food for vegetarians is not great, nor worth the price. The staff weren’t very helpful in figuring out what was vegetarian in an unmarked lunch buffet; I asked 4 different staff until someone answered me. It’s a lovely space with a nice outdoor restaurant.

Great service, food did not live up to the price. As well there is a lot of charges which are not mentioned anywhere. However, lovely place.

We had dinner for three and it was excellent. A good selection of local and international food with a good wine selection. We decided for a main course and then desert. So we ordered the chicken, steak and salmon - again all excellent courses well prepared and presented and then we had the Eton mess ( average) and cheesecake ( good) with a bottle of wine. This was good value at GBP 98.00. Services was efficient and friendly.
