Fantastic place and really lovely staff. Made the disabled chap who I was supporting feel so welcome, wish more places were like this. Massive portions as well. 🙌

I stood waiting this morning for well over 6 minutes and no-one came to serve me I was waiting for to buy some pies but the staff was to busy in the cafe side talking to each other and complealy left the side pie shop unattended this was disgusting I tried to call someone by say excuse me but was ignored as the staff was to busy talking between them self's and there was very few in the cafe side this is bad for business you should always have at least one member of staff on the side counter and should never be left un a tended the staff should know this .staff updates and upgrades needs to be looked at fast I will never go there again get better service at the cafe in the inside market and fast service and better manners

This is a great little local gem! A quirky little local cafe with the charm and food you would expect from that, if your looking for a cheap breakfast and a little local twist then this is the place for that

Went for a brunch, ordered a salad that supposed to be 5 quid according to advertisement, and it was 10, they run out of salad dressing so it was tasteless. But chicken was good and fresh and staff lovely. Still wouldn't recommend.

Worst breakfast I have ever had.

Today I bought a cheese and onion slice and it was vile, I'm sure it was from Sunday it didn't taste fresh at all and the filling was like rubber it fell out of the pasry in a lump! Also when I cut it in half there was a big space at the top. Disgusting and not worth £2.10 went in the bin but should have taken it back really but wouldn't want another one from them anyway. They're lucky they have one star.

Worst breakfast I have ever had in a cafe. Food took 45 mins. Expensive for the ingredient quality. Why do you serve a full English without beans, mushrooms or hash browns. Why's a can of coke £2.50. Its just pure greed. There's obviously no reinvestment because it's so grim inside. Amazed at how this place is still going. Its angin.

How is this place not embarrassed about selling food like this.. I bought a steak bake and got pastry with a tea spoon of some dark paste? Absolutely disgusting.

The worst sausage I have ever had. Everything was well over priced and food quality poor. Do yourselves a favour and if your that hungry there were some tastier looking pigeons feasting on the overflowing bins around the corner.

Freezing cold due to open windowed takeaway through door opening without a door. Ordered soup which didn’t arrive as order not passed to kitchen. When this arrived it was supposed to be accompanied with French bread and butter. Instead it came with a cheap bread roll that fell into pieces. No butter arrived and when this came it was a miniscule knob which was too hard and cold to spread. Burnt baguette, burnt beef. All in all totally unsatisfactory

Me and a few friends popped in on Saturday for a late brunch, drinks wise I ordered a flat white and the jacket potato with beans and cheese I ordered was delicious and felt like I was right at home. We were greeted by a polite young man upon entry, the same young man who made my coffee. Will definitely be returning as the service was excellent 👍🏼

Came here for tea and cake. You get a lot for your money, we ordered a piece of tray bake each and we struggled to finish it. The tea, we got two pots to go between three people. We would have quite happily have had one for the three of us as they were huge! The prices aren't too bad either and the staff were friendly. Ps. I had the caramel traybake but could have easily tried them all because they all looked amazing! They also do an offer 5 cakes for 4 if you buy and take away.

Been here before and it was ok. But this time it was awful. Expensive for the quality of food. Ordered a panini and was given a baguette. There was hardly any filling inside of it. Had the homemade chilli, which was bland with no flavour. Only thing that was good was the milkshakes. Won't go again.

I absolutely love the Cornish pasty at this place, I live in Manchester, but whenever it is possible, my husband and I go to Macclesfield just to have a few.:) We have tried to find a place in Manchester that could beat this one, but no such lucky so far. In my opinion all sweets and pasties that I have tried are excellent. We haven't seat in to eat there though, we prefer to take it home. Enjoy!

Made the mistake of going there, I had an english breakfast and the bacon was undercooked and the majority of the bacon was just fat. They never gave me the cutlery and it took them 30 minutes just to receive the cutlery after me asking numerous times. The sausage was raw in the middle meaning it obviously wasn’t cooked properly and was undercooked. The staff were very rude especially one of the younger ones who wore glasses on the day I dined in. The staff were also swearing in the kitchen and I didn’t find it very professional of them to do so. Lastly, the tables and chairs were very filthy as well as the floor. 100% wouldn’t recommend.

For what you get very expensive. Nearly £6 for a breakfast roll that came on a hot dog bun and had to be eaten with a knife and fork. Also quite slow service. Staff were lovely and coffee was nice however

I was looking for a quick bite and hot drink. I hadn't visited the cafe before. I was given a seat and was told to address the counter when I was ready to order. There appeared to be a lot of disruption and lack of organisation. The service was nothing to write home about. I received a stewed pot of tea after 10 minutes this was after they gave me a latte, which I didn't order. Whilst waiting for my food to arrive, it was very apparent It wasn't going to come soon. I noticed that at least 3 of the staff had colds, and each time I looked up,they were wiping their noses on there sleeve then entering the kitchen to Ollerton the food. Needless to say I didn't enjoy my lunch. They were asked to wash their hands, I repeat asked!!!!!

My experience was horrible. Waited 30 minutes just for a oatcake to turn out with it being burnt and cold. Staff are horrible and rude. Took ages to get served.

Like the food but customer service appalling. Literally waited in a queue to be served only to be ignored as 2 other people jumped the line. Plenty of other places with much better staff.

We popped in for some lunch and a drink at 13.50 today after reviewing your opening hours online and seeing that you were still open until 16.00. Upon arriving we was told that the coffee shop was due close as it was closing time and we was not able to order any food but could potentially order a drink. We found this a little strange as there was customers in the cafe and people wanting drinks and lunch. Staff members were wiping down, covering up food items at the front of the bakery so customers could not order and two members were leaving with their coats on. We were confused as your opening times stated until 16.00. We was then advised we could have a coffee but no food. Unfortunately the coffees we ordered were not properly made, half a cup and very weak yet charged for a full cup? I feel this is due to a training issue around staff not knowing how to use the coffee machine properly. Also, the staff that were left appeared really unhappy that we had arrived for a drink as I feel they wanted an early finish..Correct me if im wrong and if the shop actually closes at 2PM I think the opening times on the door and online needs to be changed or customers will become confused. The area and tables were also really really dirty alongside the cups and cutlery. The cafe looked shabby and generally dirty with unpleasant staff. Really dissapointed as Coffee Beans used to be a nice cafe it appears sadly its gone downhill and been a bit neglected... we will sadly not be returning.

Went in ordered a prawn baguette and an egg mayo with crispy bacon baguette,we waited 25 mins.The prawn came but they bought a chicken and tomato baguette,I told them I had ordered an egg, took it back.Brought it straight back my egg had pieces of chicken mixed in. Sent it back they never came back.Prawn one hadabout 10 prawns Paid £21. We left after waiting 5 mins.Disgusting

Service was terrible, whilst I was waiting for my coffee (ages coming) they did 3 refunds for none delivery of food and drinks, staff need training I felt sorry for the young girl who was clearly overstretched , not a patch on the Leek Branch sorry

I honestly can’t believe you messed up a panini with a cold tuna sandwich. Honestly a 12 year old would know that a panini is served hot. Not some horrible cold sandwich.

The food & service were atrocious. Coffee like dishwater, toasted tea cakes that weren’t toasted & butter which was margarine. My brother & his wife had “beef stew” which was served with a stale hot dog bun & no cutlery. They said it was the worst meal they have ever had, lukewarm, bits of shredded looking meat, raw potatoes, no seasoning. The attitude of the staff was unprofessional & unfriendly & toilet was grotty. Very bad experience. Do not go.

If you want smarmy staff, under cooked food and a not very hot brew, this is the place for you. Ordered a breakfast with beans, didn't get the beans. Asked about them and the attitude from the woman was awful. Cant see this place being open long unless it changes for the better soon. Tables not wiped, windows dirty, sit where your put. Will NEVER visit again.

We were initially greeted politely but the service went downhill from there. We saw the staff chatting with each other, both in the cafe and in the kitchen, but nobody thought to check on us or explain the 30 minute wait for a simple food order at a quiet time of day. The young man who I asked to check on our order was polite enough but there was no apology. Other customers had issues but nobody seemed bothered. My mum enjoyed her pie, peas and gravy but my tomato soup tasted like a tin of tomatoes that had been blended. For the first time in years, we left no tip. The cafe looks lovely and has a good location but I fear for its future if the staff don’t care.

My daughter and I made the mistake of popping in here for a bite to eat the other day. The place was filthy. You could see behind the take away area which was really dirty with food all over the floor. The kitchen was even worse (you can see in as you manoeuvre round the black bin bags to get to the equally dirty toilet). Daughter ordered a bacon roll- bacon clearly microwaved on a tiny sub roll with an inch of margarine. I ordered cheese on toast which again was microwaved and soggy. The best bit was my tomato 'soup' which they obviously forgot about...when it finally did arrive it was literally a bowl of tinned tomatoes! Never again!

Nice people but SO SLOW. I visited with my partner a few weeks ago - we placed an order, waited twenty minutes and then realised they'd forgotten us entirely. They were very apologetic and keen to make it right, but we didn't want to start again with the order and wait longer. Went back today and again, no urgency to take the order though the place was not busy. They're friendly folk, but just not very attentive and often prioritise their takeaway window.

Popped in today as daughter was on lunch break so needed something quickly, big mistake. Only 2 other tables were occupied out of about 12 but the one we were led over to was filthy so we sat at the next one, luckily I had some wet wipes in my bag as this one was pretty grubby also. Ordered a tuna sandwich and chicken baguette which came out pretty quickly, bread was nice and fresh but both fillings were 25% tuna/chicken and 75% mayonnaise, considering they cost £18 for the 2 sandwiches and 1 coffee it was a bit of a rip off. As we we getting ready to leave a single customer came in and sat herself at a four seater table against the wall rather than a smaller table in the middle of a now totally empty cafe, she was then told she couldn't sit there and she should sit at a single table, unsurprisingly she told them she would take her custom elsewhere! Avoid this place like the plague though I would be very surprised if its still open by the end of the year

What a joke of a place. Not the cleanest. Nearly £30 for 2 toasties, a sandwich, two teas and a coffee. Understand the cost of living crisis and prices going up. However, Tea arrived within 10 mins. Food 30 min later. By then the tea was cold. I seen two people demand their money back as they had no time left! Also another poor woman when she asked for a refund was told.. ‘it’s nearly ready, can you take the food with you?’ She replied, ‘I have to go back to work and don’t have time to eat it!’ The cheese on the toastie was spread on like minimal margarine! The staff although apologetic, in my option were less than interested. For the record I never really do reviews. I had to do this one!!! Good location. Places could be turned around. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day! Won’t be going back… I felt I was in Royston Vassey! League of gentlemen… so weird…

I hate to say it, but it's really quite terrible to dine in here. The takeaway baked products you can buy from the outside are fine. But not much else.

Walked in and every table was full of dirty plates etc. had to move some off our table to get it clear. She was a busy young woman but when she took food to a table she didn’t pick up any used crockery on her way back. There was other staff in the back room but nobody came through to help out. Until…a couple came in looked around and walked out again no empty table to be had as all full of dirty crockery. Need staff training as not only cafe but shop to serve in as well not good organisation somehow. Wont return

The girl at the counter was chewing gum, which in a retail food environment is disgusting. Amongst other items we ordered a cheese and onion toastie and got a cheese and tomato toastie … not acceptable It is very expensive for the quality of service and food

Arrived at 9:30 on a Friday and cafe was just opening - Ordered full English breakfast for myself and my wife plus a tea and a coffee. Sat down and waited 20 minutes for food. Asked where my tea and coffee where to which I was advised I didn’t order it even though I asked my wife what she was having in full earshot of the waitress. Food turned up grease on a plate is the best description. Sausages and bacon that were clearly reheated from a previous day, Eggs rock hard and a slither of tomato. Absolutely awful. Toast had no butter. Sent the food back and left. Will not be returning - worst experience I have ever had.

Despite what some other reviews say, I have no issues at all with the service I received. The food however was not good. I had a traditional breakfast and couldn’t finish it because it was so oily. The eggs (fried) were overdone and crispy, the yolk was partially soft but clearly needed to be cooked at a lower temperature. The sausages were cheap and the bacon dry. There was a quarter of a rather small cooked tomato, which was quite frankly the best part of the meal but surely it could have been stretched to at least half a tomato. They could do with some soft furnishings in there too because you could hear everything and I found it hard to focus on the book I was trying to read.

Over priced, cheap food not worth the money. I would rather go to weatherspoons and actually have a decent meal.

I came in today on my lunch break from work I had a young lad serving me, who was absolutely lovely with such a positive attitude and i thought the additional little smiley on the box was a nice touch!

Came in for a big breakfast this morning and asked for poached eggs, no beans and only 1 piece of toast which they did. It was prompt and the drink was lively. The staff were very welcoming and friendly

On Wednesday 2nd. March myself and my family went into Coffee Beans for lunch. When I entered the cafe I was greeted by a female member of staff who was very cheerful. The service for five of us was quick and the food was to a good standard. Whilst we were there I met all members of staff on shift and they all had the same cheery countenance. If anything had been wrong I would have said but in my mind how can you criticise perfection. Fully recommended by the Thornley family.

I come to this cafe every day for my lunch. Amazing, friendly and helpful staff. The food is delicious and decently priced for the quality you are getting. The staff work quickly, efficiently and are always on top form. They work harder than most staff in coffee shops and are always on their feet serving, cleaning, preparing drinks or working in the kitchen. They should be paid more for the effort they put in. I recommend this place to everyone.

Ordered 3 breakfasts and waited 45 minutes for them to be served. You would think having waited that long that everything would be freshly cooked, but no the bacon was so hard it was inedible and looked like it had been cooked hours ago and left on a warming plate, no tomato on the breakfast when it clearly stated it should be on, the sausages were very poor quality, latte was lukewarm. We won’t be returning.

Staff clearly forgot our order despite having no other orders to prepare. Chef just stood around chatting with his mate. Young waitress was useless. Absolute shambles of a place clearly staffed by people who have no clue what they're doing.

Ordered soup, toasties and sausage roll for two of us. Had to ask for sausage roll as it had clearly been forgotten about. I ended up leaving it as the meat was like uncooked meat paste and I didn't want to risk it. Toilet up the stairs was unclean, very basic facilities. Upon returning back to cafe, you pass the kitchen which looked filthy with food and a tomato ketchup bottle in the floor. I shan't be visiting here again, but then it's run by children so what would you expect. (Being fair, the children were very polite)

Went in for a coffee as a support worker supporting a service user, made an order to initially take away (from the bit that’s opposite TKMAX) however due to the cold weather sat inside. One of the staff members called ‘James’ abruptly came over to the table and said there’s a charge for sitting inside (I was not made aware of this prior). This made my service user highly anxious especially his tone of voice. He said “I’ll let you of this time” which appeared passive aggressive. The rest of the staff/service I couldn’t fault however staff attitude especially towards vulnerable adults needs addressing ASAP,

This is a fantastic experience to make you better appreciate good service when you get it. My take away description of this place is ‘absolutely Shambolic’. I Hadn’t been to macc in years, and remembered this cafe being really nice and well placed in the town centre. It now appears to be run into the ground and the staff knowingly couldn’t care less. -I wish I had read recent reviews now! 😅 They got our order wrong twice with no apology. When my daughter’s food turned up we found a strip of sellotape amongst her beans. We let the staff know out of courtesy and this didn’t get any acknowledgment from a senior member of staff (did it not phase them at all?), or an apology. I’ll continue to support local brands but not this one! 😂

Food took 45 minutes, we only ordered 2 jacket potatoes. When they finally arrived, both of the potatoes were cold and when we cut into them, they were actually frozen…

To anybody that's thinking of going, use the takeaway as the cafe part are incompetent of taking a order properly and if you have allergies don't go at all. The manager is at fault for not training staff and not having enough staff on. Don't expect your food be brought ready, at same time. The girls there are more management material. Bring back the old team. 😪

Arrived at about 2.30, all 12 tables were dirty and still had plates if food on , gentleman asked for table to be cleaned, he cleaned it himself, I also cleaned our table, but the cloth was not very clean, so I used a spray provided and then a tissue from my bag. There were 4 staff on, although one was working in the shop part. Another man ordered a meal, and his meal was missing some peas, he queried this and was given the peas separately, he too asked for his table to be cleaned. Eventually the girls started to take some dishes away

I put one star because I can't leave lower. This place is an accident waiting to happen. Twice my 3 yr old grandson had the waitress learning over his head with hot drinks. She put very hot drink in front of my 8 month old grandson. Needless to say he put his hand in it!!!!! They have no clue about allergies. When I asked about dairy all I got was " it may be dairy free" to which I responded it wasn't good enough, I needed to know for definite. Overpriced extremely slow service and tea like dishwater. No teaspoons as they were all in the dishwasher. No milk provided for tea and no sugar available.

We asked what the soup was and there answer was I don't know!! The place was unclean, dirty plates and rude staff. Uncooked bread and prawns frozen. This place would not see us again, waited 40 minutes for a BLT and tomato and lentil soup which is definitely not home made and there’s an absence of lentils and super dry bread.

Reasonable quality but basic produce; nowhere near the best. Service in the 'tired, chilly café was poor; I thought the staff were young, overstretched and seemed disorganised, but allowance should be made for post-Covid 'rust'. My toastie never came, even after half an hour; then it was time to go. The staff were concerned but it still meant I didn't eat lunch. Definitely ready for a refit!. Hard to recommend, but they don't have much competition at the prices you pay.

Couldn't believe the prices in this basic cafe in Macclesfield. My friend and I paid £8.20 for one egg on one toast and a small pot of tea. When we complained that couldn't be right, the lady cooking the food then brought us out another slice of toast and another fried egg. Still not worth £5.75! Honestly Couldn't believe it. We asked for the eggs to be cooked medium, so still have a yoke but we're cooked hard. I asked for brown bread, my friend for white, they brought out brown for me and white for her.

Called in here for a drink and biscuit. I had the Rocky road and strawberry milkshake and neither were very nice. The staff were slow and acted like they didn’t want to be there. I wouldn’t return.

VILE ! Worst breakfast EVER - pls avoid would not serve to my dog and she’d eat anything !!! Ordered two breakfasts and a sausage baguette. The sausages were the lowest quality ever and it looks like they had been cooked a week ago and then reheated for us that morning along with the bacon I suspect, plus my plate was full of water !!!!! The sausage baguette my daughter had was one of those pre-baked rolls you buy at a supermarket but I think they may have forgotten to put it in the oven ! it was not cheap either £6.75 for the baguette and £7.50 for the breakfast. Please do not waste your time or money even thinking of going in here. Given one star as they did refund half the value after I complained oh and the toast was okay.

The food here was so good, although really let down by the service. When we arrived we were perfectly happy with the social distancing measures in place. We sat down and looked at the menu, then ordered two lattes a sprite and a breakfast and a hot baguette. The lady brought over the drinks with no tea spoons (had to go to the counter to get them) and no glass or cup for the sprite (back to the counter again) we then had to call her over to ask for some sugar packets and left the tray on our tiny table for two. When the food came she took the tray away, we were offered no sauces so had to go back to the counter and was told to wait (while my food was getting cold at the table) nobody checked back to see if our food was OK. I think this place is brilliant the food and coffee was excellent but it is greatly let down by the service! There were multiple servers so didn't seem like they were short staffed. More training needed for the front of house staff.

Just bought a jam donut from the bakery section along with a brownie to bring back to the office. Took one bite out of the donut and it is hard and stale. £1.10 it cost for the donut and it is out of date. Will never eat here again and will certainly be reporting to environmental health as if this is out of date and stale then clearly they have no checks in place for their other food products which include meat.

Popular with the elderly, it also has a lot of vegan options advertised for the young and hip. Had a pastry with mash and gravy the first time, vegetarian breakfast the second. On both occasions the food was brought to me quickly and was hot. It tasted really good and with reasonable prices I will likely be coming back. The place has your usual cafe look and feel, the staff always seems happy and friendly to each other and engaging with the customers, which is nice to see. Lovely service. They have a kids' menu too, so I will be trying it out soon with my little ones, also massive bonus for me is the big pot of sugar at each table, as somebody who uses a lot in their tea, it saves me the embarrassment of asking for lots of sachets with every cupand getting weird looks, that alone has bought me over. I would recommend this cafe.

Came across here by accident. Met my vegetarian bro in Macclesfield one Tuesday afternoon. Looked at a couple of other cafes, but they were taking last orders at 2 or 3.30. WTF was that about? Found this place, good service & meal, not too busy...

Popped in....not too busy so I ordered straight away. Bit worried as I noticed my table was not clean and needed a good wet down and crumbs swept up. I persevered......I ordered a Panini and have to say, was very nice. The decoration round the edge (little salad and crisps) was ok too. I had a can of drink, poured into a glass and realised then that the glass could have done with a clean as it was a bit grubby. I then had a piece of carrot cake....moist and tasty.This place is a little run down and you have to look at it as somewhere to go to if you don’t want the glitz of cozy coffee shop or high street chain. It’s a bit like a builders cafe, that needs some attention. I liked the food, nothing to moan about there....it was tasty and filled me up a treat. The place itself is somewhere I don’t mind going, as I’m no snob and will eat most places.....I think the people who don’t like this place are probably looking for a more high end establishment and when they come in here.....don’t get high end and feel a bit disappointed. Average.

I called in here for a bite to eat as I was in Macclesfield for the day, not knowing where I was going to eat I had not reviewed anywhere prior. The service was very friendly and quick, I had the goats cheese and caramelised onion panini, coffee and walnut cake with a coffee, all tasty and good portions, price wise is what you would expect and no dearer than other places ive had similar fare, I would certainly call in here again when im next in Macclesfield,

Nice little coffee shop, not quite sure why it's got such low reviews. Coffee was a little weak for my liking.. But pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Food is over priced, cheese taste like butter, table and chairs are dirty. Staff forgetting half of your order. Avoid

Came here on a day trip to the Treacle Market. Me and my mom had the soup and sandwich deal . The celery soup was beautiful and lovely chicken sandwiches on fresh bread . The staff were really busy but super quick service . The staff were pleasant and polite . The loo is a bit of a hike but that’s not the end of the world .would definitely come back

Lovely friendly staff, strong coffee and lovely homemade cake! Maybe next time I'll treat myself to some food too!

Standards are so low... rude staff, dirty tables and over priced food... avoid. Shame as the location is perfect but the cafe in whole is vile and needs a whole new re vamp and management.
