Way over priced for the most basic food . The quiche was not edible It was the wettest soggy quiche I ever saw I cut it open and that was enough I had to send it straight back then some rude staff said what was wrong said it was soggy and I just wanted a refund not another meal it had put me off and basically refused to refund I nearly laughed and said no you will be giving me a refund for that and she proceeded to but how rude will never go in that cafe again it was my mothers birthday we had come to garden centre to buy some Plants of it had not been her birthday and would of demanded a full refund for everything but I didn’t because I didn’t want to upset my mother but instead I took my refund of nearly £8 for the worst quiche ever and thought I just won’t take my hundreds of pounds I spent at the garden centre ever again . I got to allot of garden center with my elderrly father and we often have other family members will us.. Ordered turkey sandwiches £6 with chips. When it came it was two slices of processed turkey.. how cheap.. I know garden centres are known for over priced food but Bents charge £7 its fresh sliced turkey.. and many others offer turkey... none has been like this. All.have fresh sliced turkey.. maybe that's why their restaurant is so empty near Christmas while everywhere else is busy and we got about 10 chips.. Sad to offer poor quality food.

My partner and I called in for breakfast. I ordered the gluten free breakfast option from the menu. The food arrived with both meals exactly the same apart from the gluten free toast. I asked which meal was the gf one, the server didn't know so took both back to the kitchen. Shortly afterwards a lady came to our table from the kitchen explaining they couldn't guarantee anything to be gluten free as she didn't have separate friers etc in the kitchen. I said but you advertise a gf option on the menu! She replied that they cannot guarantee gf and always come over to the table to explain that! She couldn't or wouldn't understand that you cannot advertise a gluten free option if there isn't one. Needless to say we requested a refund and left the premises.

We always avoided Wyevale Bold Heath Widnes, as the cafe and general garden centre were not up to scratch. We called in this morning, had a nice breakfast, served to your table, much improved on the previous owners. Had a good look around, it was pleasant to stroll around and not to be stuck in a “ corridor “ like another Garden Centre up the road beginning with R, which is similar to visiting Ikea, once your in you can’t get out without doing the circuit. We purchased some plants, there are some good offers and lots to see in a nicely laid out garden centre.

It was a lovely Saturday lunch time and we decided to stop for a spot of lunch at the gardener's retreat inside the garden centre. As my mum was in a wheelchair we approached the counter only to find out that the menus are actually on the tables. However the staff member behind the counter was very accommodating and provided us with a menu to look at, my mum made her decision and I was a little stumped as I was given 4 different choices for soup. Having placed the order the service was swift and the food was good, the person who delivered the food seemed a little surprised that the main meal was not for me and that I was having the soup! On first appearance I thought they could have filled my soup bowl a little higher, however there was more than enough to satisfy. My only observation was that the person who was going around clearing tables had a face like a wet weekend and looked like they wished they were somewhere else.

We went to the garden centre as we had seen “Under New Management “ signs outside. The car park is a good size situated to the front and right side of the buildings.Nice entrance well lit and the “ Gardeners Retreat restaurant “ was just inside the front door.Nicely laid out with very nice staff. We were not very hungry so we ordered 2 soups. It was £4.95p each for a very small square bowl and small piece of bread. My chicken soup was tasty with very few bits of chicken in it but was the consistency of waterOne good thing we were kept entertained by a baby robin on a nearby table a few yards away in the outside part.

Dont recommend this winter drink. Not a festive drink and not a pleasant experience. It is just a normal cappuccino with salted popcorn sprinkled on top. Definitely not worth the extra money. When the popcorn softens it sinks to the bottom of the cup as a soggy mess. Disappointed, especially as the till receipt states snow peaked mallow. All I can say is YUCK”.

Let me say up front that we have used this cafe before and been reasonably pleased. We find the garden centre to be fine.We arrived at approx. 1.15pm and decided to enjoy a Festive afternoon tea but noticed it was only available from 2.00pm so went to shop first. We returned to queue at 2.00pm.After a considerable time approx 15 mins we ordered from the one young member of staff who seemed responsible for orders, hot drinks etc for a Festive afternoon tea. We where informed that we would have had to book so it was not available. This had not been mentioned on the menu or in the restaurant. We were initially informed that we could order the normal afternoon tea and we agreed. A lady then appeared from the kitchen to inform her colleague and ourselves that she did not have the items available to give us an afternoon tea. This info had not been passed to the staff at the cash till. We felt sorry for the young lady at the counter but disappointed at the poor service of her colleagues. The terms surrounding the menu had not been made clear and we felt as customers that we had experienced a restaurant that was poorly managed and had a disregard for its customers as no apology of any kind was given.

When they arrived with a side salad of 1 cherry tomato and a spoonful of lettuce and a spoonful of coleslaw I couldn’t believe my eyes the portions were unbelievable but as I looked at the lettuce it wasn’t fresh and looked days old as it was so discoloured I wouldn’t eat it. After receiving a voucher for afternoon tea for Christmas decided to go today for afternoon tea. This is not served until 2.30. I gave over the voucher which was for £14.00 and both my husband and I asked for coffee, I asked for a latte and despite the afternoon tea being on offer for only £10.00 was told that was an extra 50p. We sat down only for a few minutes later to be asked what we wanted instead of the scones, I said we need scones for afternoon tea, sorry none left was the reply. We had asked for the afternoon tea at just after three. I said in that case I am not having the afternoon tea I would like my voucher back and will pay for the coffee. After the waitress went and got a superior we did get the voucher back and were told we would have to pay for the coffee. When my husband went up to pay for the coffee,he had to ask for the money we had already paid to be taken off the bill. The coffee is extremely strong and I was unable to drink it but I didn't feel able to create another scene. I would not recommend anyone to go for afternoon tea unless there for 2.30 and please don't have the coffee unless you like it really strong.

The young girl on the drinks was pleasant enough but the waitress who brought us our food needs training on customer service, even a smile would be nice. Spent the afternoon at this garden centre having booked a Groupon deal afternoon tea. After buying the deal, I then read the reviews, and wish I'd read them prior to buying, as they were all correct.I actually rang in the morning to say we would be going on a Groupon deal, although it said on the paperwork that wasn't necessary. On arrival, the very spacious restaurant was completely empty, and the two members of staff were sitting at a table, totally disinterested in who was actually coming in.There were just two ladies sat in the outside area having afternoon tea.As I had rang earlier the afternoon tea was ready, and was brought to the table, minus cutlery and napkins, and I had to go back inside to collect these. It looked quite nice on the stand, but strange combination of sandwich fillings.Hard cheese & cucumber (really does not go together). The ham & tomato okay, but served on white bread, so not acceptable to us. We weren't asked which bread we would prefer.I had to ask for hot water for the tea, and it came in the tiniest pot imaginable.Scones were okay but certainly not fresh baked, (most definitely shop bought a few days earlier), made edible via the small pot of strawberry jam and carton of clotted cream.Selection of tiny cakes on the top tier okay.Overall we enjoyed what we ate, but like an earlier reviewer remarked. It was only worth the offer price, and certainly nowhere near worth the supposed full price of £10/head.The two members of staff were totally disinterested , and spent the whole time we were there sitting at a table in the empty cafe.I go to various garden centres throughout North Wales / Cheshire areas with friends every week, and we have never ever seen any empty cafes. It's usually quite the opposite, with barely any available tables. Most of the reviews are negative, and it does make me wonder if the management of Wyvale ever read them. Most garden centres generate a large amount of income from a busy cafe serving at least some home made food. A delicious homemade soup & roll, tasty fresh sandwiches with varying fillings etc.Not sure where they are going wrong, but they quite obviously are. This is a large garden centre with adequate parking. 2 minutes from major motorway, and half way between two major towns.Come on Wyvale. Send a couple of your managers in as mystery diners, and judge for yourself.First job would be to employ staff who at least look as though they're interested. Then re-hash the menu. That way you might just make it into a money spinner, such a shameNeedless to say we won't be returning unless we hear differently.

I capitalised on an offer for Afternoon Tea for four here and was not disappointed. I was rather hesitant about going to a garden centre for afternoon tea, and our arrival to the canteen like restaurant did nothing to allay my concerns. There were a couple of tables outside which would have suited us better, but with the chill in the air and a toddler to consider we took a table indoors. The service was slow. Not much can be said about it otherwise. I placed my order then waited about half an hour for some sandwiches and cakes (which probably didn't need preparing). I can only assume that since the 3 people after me ordered the same thing they wanted to do them all at once. When the food came it was quite enjoyable. We had 3 finger sandwiches each, a scone each with plenty of jam and cream and a selection of mini desserts. We had unlimited tea/coffee to keep us going and the staff were very friendly (albeit slow in getting things to us).I'd perhaps go again for the same offer, but would be reluctant to pay full price for the service/food I received.

I have had the same 'breakfast experience' at two locations now Bold Heath being the 2nd one this April leaving me rather under whelmed on each occasion - and hungry. Time for owners of this catering arm chain to have a rethink for times have moved on and so have choices of hot breakfast goods in UK. My vegetarian ones were greasy, lacklustre, of low grade ingredients including the bread (an-add on side order) and rather meagre portion sized. Eggs were not free range either. I would rather pay a little more and receive better quality ingredients. Nowadays even supermarket own brands come in a wide array of cheap high protein meat alternatives I know as my freezer is full of them. A Wyevale option consists of removing the higher cost meat options, inserting coin sized deep fried bubble n squeak instead (yuk) then charging just slightly less than the what the carnivores get. Meat eaters in my party were not really frothing or blessed with empathy when asked how their meals were for those of you readers tutting about fussy veggies. The upside here were the two engaging female staff members - on till/ food server (at Bold Heath )who were lovely and chatty and the hot coffee/choc drinks we had were large hot and notably delish'. I advised staff of my concerns and they smiled and nodded so let us pray their supervisors listen. Finally plastic indoor plants in a garden centre cafe? Who propagated that idea?

We have not visited this cafe / restaurant for sometime, due to unreported problems in the past. This morning we decided to call in, on entry to the premises a board advertised a breakfast offer, on entry to the cafe another board advertised the breakfast options. We queued up for sometime, the assistants were busy attending to groups of children, on xmas dressed tables. There was a good display of freshly cooked breakfast food on display on the counter warming unit. We were eventually served and informed that they were only serving the Santa breakfast, we could only have a toasted tea cake or similar. Wouldn't it have been customer friendly to have put a notice up on entry, stating only Santa breakfasts were being served. The cafe was approximately occupied by around a quarter of its capacity. There was mountains of breakfast food on the counter warmer, why can't they spend about sixty second putting it on a plate for other customers ? . There was plenty of empty table in the rest of the cafe. Because we had waited so long to be served, we opted on the spur of the moment to have the toasted tea cakes and tea. Big mistake, it cost over £8, we could have obtained two cooked English breakfasts and two pots of tea, for approx £1 more at Norcotts, Rivendell just down the road. By the way we have no objection to Santa breakfast's and looking after children we have five grandchildren.

Visited the restaurant today (2nd October) with a friend, for afternoon tea. Neither of us had eaten there before and as such, we had no particular expectations. However, we were a tad puzzled by the fact that when we arrived, there was only one other customer there - usually Garden Centre cafes are bursting at the seams, especially when they are running a 'Two for One' offer...To say the staff were unwelcoming is an understatement. There were only a couple in evidence and both had a 'couldn't care less' attitude. My friend placed our order at the counter and presented her discount voucher to be told '"That offer expired last week". She patiently pointed out that the expiry date was in fact, the end of November and the voucher could be used multiple times, whereupon the young man shrugged his shoulders and replied that he didn't know anything about the current offer. He conferred with the other member of staff - a young lady - who also shrugged her shoulders, seemingly mystified, but eventually found a way around the problem and processed the order. No apology, mind. When our food arrived, we were underwhelmed to say the least. There were two small rolls each - one ham, one egg, the latter being far too squishy (for want of a better term!) and completely tasteless. Had I been blindfolded, I wouldn't even have recognised it as egg, it was so bland. The scone was as dry as dust, saved only by the delicious Tiptree jam and clotted cream and the square of lemon sponge looked and tasted very synthetic - certainly not home-made! Fortunately one cannot really go wrong with a pot of tea (!) and I have to report that this was lovely! All in all though, our visit was very disappointing and I can understand why the place was empty... This restaurant really needs to 'up its game' if it is to compete with other local Garden Centre cafes.

Went to the cafe there were 4 couples in front of me, seen the breakfast sign was still up checked my phone, 11.20am, took the lady 15 minuets or so to serve the people ahead of me. came to my turn asked if I could have a breakfast sandwich she asked another woman who said no as it was 11.40 and they stopped serving at 11.30 I said I've been stood in a queue for ages, They didn't offer me an alternative the lady just walked off after shrugging shoulders and shaking her head, very rude.Paid £2.80p for my regular late, the coffee was burn as was the milk, It literally made me wretch obviously it got left on the table. I checked my till receipt issued after the coffee was made it says 11.35 really 5 minuets after service because you put someone slow on the tills...The garden centre was lovely as always, but the cafe seriously get someone faster on the tills and scrub up on your customer service skills!!

We went to bold Heath garden centre for breakfast last Sunday.Compared to other venues, the meal was " cooked to order" and not a buffet.I think the only difference was that the kitchen staff placed the food on the plate rather than buffet style. The food the waitress brought looked like a child's portion and did not look freshly cooked. It was also quite expensive when you paid for drinks, almost £15 for 2 people. Bearing in mind the restaurant wasn't busy, we should of made a judgement and gone elsewhere. The restaurant may be ok for lunch but don't be ripped off for an expensive breakfast based on a child's portion.

Having researched online which local(ish) garden centre would still have a cafe open later in the afternoon on a Sunday, we decided to visit this one. We drove 30 mins across town, and arriving at the cafe at 4.02pm, were told they were closed. We explained we'd travelled especially and their website said they would be open (rechecking, it clearly said the restaurant closed at 4.30pm on a Sunday), and we only wanted a cup of tea and a slice of cake. But no, 'service was closed'. I sought out the garden centre manager and explained the situation. He just looked at me incredulously, then walked off...not even a whiff of an explanation or an apology. I suggest they update their website to reflect their real hours, and perhaps train their senior staff how to deal with complaints politely. We then faced a 30 minute trip back home with a hungry, thirsty, crying 18 month year old, all for the lack of somebody being bothered to put a kettle on, 28 minutes before their advertised closing time. That's Wyevale garden centres off my list for future visits.

Was bought an Amazon voucher for Mothers Day so went with my Mother in Law and daughter. The restaurant were really not prepared for this promotion, however the staff were apologetic about this. The food was brought over to us on a stand but the plates were then put on the table and the stand taken away as they didn't have enough. The food was good, the only issue was the clotted cream it had been frozen so my portion was like hard cheese. We complained and were given 2 more pots which had obviously been heated to defrost them as one was now completely liquid. Although food was good I wouldn't have paid full price for this.Only other grumble I have is paying £1.60 for a fruit shoot my5 is ridiculous but wasn't much choice for kids.

Our Cake Stand Arrived They Said They. Were in short supply and put all the saucers on the table and took all the cake stands away there were four of us seated.to describe it as a afternoon tea was at best stretching it., it was made up of two very small baps with a little filling on a saucer .a small scone with a sealed small pack of cream and a jar containing one teaspoon full of jam on the second saucer, and a square lemon slice from a packet on the last saucer. the quality and quaninty was at best very poor we go for a lot of teas but this was the worst ever we will not be going again

This is a good quality restaurant in pleasant surroundings set in a nice garden centre.Tip: If you register on line you can often get a BOGOF (buy one get one free) full main meal. Also on weekdays there is sometimes the same deal two meals for the price of one or 2 meals for a fiver kind of deal. These are great value and of course the garden centre itself is excellent

Bought the Amazon voucher for an indulgent afternoon tea.A three tiered cake stand was brought to each of us,that was where the indulgence stopped,it advertised a ham and tomato and an egg, cress and mayo roll, what was brought was 1 plain square cut ham sandwich and 1 plain square cut egg mayo sandwich, these looked a little lost on the top tier and not very appetising. The second tier had a small square lemon cake although this was tasty again it did look lost on the plate, the third tier had a scone ,small pot of jam and a pot of clotted cream.Having paid £4.50 each it was ok but it was supposed to be a half price deal,i certainly would not have been happy paying full price.

I went today with my daughter and it was not a pleasant experinece. The staff were rude and not friendly at all. They walked past us for at least five minutes while we stood at the till and we were only custmers waiting. I was buying an afternoon tea with an amazon voucher and may be why I was treated so bad. Even the customer after me exclaimed about how rude the staff were to me. I had a coffee shoved at me across the counter with it all slopping over the side. There was no apology or acknowledgemtn. The drink didnt even come with the sandwiches I had to go and get it because they had forgot. I would not being going back and wouldnt recomend it to anyone. ive been to much nicer garden centres that have better customer service even when it is packed to the rafters. I have emailed Wyevale to given them my feedback.

We shouldn't talk about this place too much because one of its charms is that it is quiet and you can always get a table. The cafe is clean, well laid out and better presented than many other restaurants I've visited. The staff are friendly and helpful, food is cooked to order and very quickly. The range of homemade cakes and puddings is extensive and very seductive. Whether you go for coffee or a full meal, the welcome is always warm. The garden centre itself is excellent and has the benefit of housing a craft shop that is an Aladdin's Cave. Love this place.
