The Glass House in St. Helens

Wheelchair access is through the doors at the back of the building which can only be opened from the inside. Have to hope one of the customers see you and let you in. Then you have to use a lift (if it is working) to get to the bar.

Popped in for a quick pint with an old mate around 2pm no complaints

I had the hallumi wrap with chips, it was really nice, just the right amount for dinner time. The glass house was quite full but we still got served in 10 minutes. The staff were very helpful

Stopped in St Helens for breakfast and The Glass House caught our eye. The breakfast was quick to arrive and cooked to perfection. We couldn't have been happier with the food or the service. Sometimes Wetherspoons gets a bad name but this one is that proves you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Clean, tidy and very tasty grub.

I find that there is always a queue at the bar. Girls at the front of house are very nice. Don't know why there are dirty dishes left on lots of tables encouraging fruit flies?

Has gone downhill over the past year or two and wasn't that great to begin with, food is ok, but not the best also has gone up in price and for what you get, not really worth it, the atmosphere is poor, just news or sports on the TV really low, or no sound at all, mostly filled with middle aged men drinking, only reason I go there now is because the drinks are still relatively cheap but that's about it

Good place to meet friends have a drink no music or tv blaring away

(And Left The Premises) Never To RETURN.......

Love this spoons. Manager is lovely and all the staff are so attentive. Food is gorgeous and very cheap- especially for students such as myself.

Poor service today, over 50 minutes for food, staff behind the bar didn't have any idea what was going on regards how long orders would take, hopefully just a bad day.....

Great place friendly staff and never wait too long for the food.

Unfortunately the bar server was alone when we ordered coffee, so it took nearly 10mins for the cups to come over to our table. We ordered from the bar not on the app. When we ordered food later it was nice and came in a reasonable time.

menu not really great. but try cleaning the fryer because it was foul. portion size pathetic. enough to cook your own. because the fryer was dirty and it was burnt to charcoal I can't say anything positive

On arrival i tried to buy a pint of the Nessie’s Monster Mash when at just less than the pint the barrel was empty and I was asked to choose something else. On attempting to order Haggis and neeps was told it was off so decided on the Caledonian burger meal this also was off. As it was curry night decided on Chicken jalfrezi but again it was off so ended up having a fourth choice. All in all a disappointing experience.

Meal wasn't upto standard had better there served fish overdone mushy peas which I didn't order just a sloppy juice with no peas.

Yeah it was great. Again it's a witherspoon.. So excellent prices no wonder there was plenty of people in there... yeah loved it really good...didn't have food so can't give you 5 stars on that one

It's been a few years since we have been here and it's had a revamp. It's spotless! The food was delicious and we had amazing service from Ella. She was so helpul and really pleasant. We will definitely be coming again!

Went in for my breakfast it was that slow in coming I had to go the bar and ask where is my breakfast next couple of mins it came it looked like they had forgot about mine

The meal was awful , the burgers was burnt and hard and the grand children left them, the fish chips & pea's looked like it had been re heated in a micro wave and left to go cold , normally we have a good meal here , don't know what went wrong this time ?

The place is dirty. The toilets are signed off as clean hours ahead of the cleaning log. Staff are not very friendly or responsive.

Dreadful experience customers forced to queue in a line to get served ordered on the app waited an hour for frankly sub standard food .Had to go and get our own drinks as we had waited over 30mins staff disinterested and borderline rude .Avoid like the plague!

Steak was burnt...They brought out the wrong meals. They also left items off the order.

The Glass House is one of the better Wetherspoon pubs, very big inside, always busy, there isn't too much wrong with either the drinks or food, the only problem for some people would be that the toilets are up two flights of stairs, there is a disabled toilet downstairs but it's not really private is it is in view of everyone. This pub is always a go-to if I am in St Helens.

My wife and I called in for breakfast on a reasonably busy Sunday morning and while my breakfast was nicely hot, my wife's was lukewarm which gave us the impression that hers had been sat out waiting for mine to be ready. There were a few, what I would call, choice customers in the bar and some pretty bad language was being used which in front of other people and children really isn't on!

It is a nice place for a cheap restaurant to spend your afternoon. I mean, who knows the chain of restaurants they know what they get. It is a nice place to start your afternoon and always seems chilled with nice ordinary people that are happy and friendly. The staff are always nice and polite. The place served food, beers , cocktails , and a great wine selection. Outdoor and indoor and close to the shopping area so after shopping like crazy you can stop there and chill with a glass of wine while enjoying your day.

Outside seating too so we sat in the sun.

Good pub, decent layout but was quiet when I arrived there. I had a nice chat with the staff who are just lovely and the disabled toilets were kept clean. Good spot for wings and cider!

Sorry, but we arrived today just after 3.00pm & the only food available was " Pizza" also we asked for a bottle of Chardonnay, only to be told they didn't have any ?? Tha staff without exception all looked as if they were totally fed up. Unfortunately not a great experience for our first visit. We won't be going again, I'm afraid. On a positive note the toilets were exceptionally clean & well maintained ☆☆☆

Came yesterday for a meal. As I am disabled, needed to use the disabled toilets.Yellow signs outside. Toilet disgusting. Pointed this out to shift manager. Her Attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Inside the pub is freezing. Needless to say, did not order food. This was always a favourite of ours. Why is this Weatherspoons so dirty and cold. We frequent your chain over the country. This is 💯 the worse. Definitely needs decent management

Ordered breakfast buns did not receive after half an hour advised member of staff who took order and they had put wrong table number down. They apologised and reordered. Came few minutes later and was cold so took back apologies again but then waited a further 15 minutes and when came back was still cold. Advised staff and requested refund. We were asked to go to bar to speak to manager. The manager came from kitchen did not even acknowledge us or apologise and proceeded to work out how much to refund us but not refunding drinks. We advised her that we had waited an hour to be served and 3 times we were let down the least she could do was give full refund. Reluctantly she did however sincerity in dealing with the issue leaves a lot to be desired. Not at all interested perhaps a refresher in customer service would be beneficial.

All tables were full of glasses, not one staff member wanted to stop restocking the bar long enough to actually serve customers. People were literally walking out because all staff couldn’t even be bothered. The bar is covered in alcohol, there are glasses everywhere and you can’t get served. Very disappointed as this used to be a very good pub.

Brilliant team of staff but they were unfortunately run of their feet.... they could do with management helping by putting a couple more people on .

Called in before a Saints match. Very Very busy. The staff were working very hard and seemed to be working as quickly as they could. The drinks came within a few minutes but the food took a while. I think they need more help with the food on match days.

We sat outside for a drink in the warm weather then saw someone with fish, chips & mushy peas with buttered bread. It looked lovely so we ordered some. We were not disappointed. Definitely going back 👍

Very tasty food, very questionable hygiene... The tables, carpet and chairs are absolutely filthy and sticky, the mug i got was almost brown instead of white with coffee and tea stains... I couldn't go without some food, so stayed anyways... It was a weekday, but the place was packed and wasnt easy to find a table with limited amount of empty-dirty glasses. It wasn't for me, ill choose another wetherspoon, the food is the same everywhere...

I must be really unlucky nowadays...I keep going into truely S**t pubs in the St.Helens area...This pub is horrible...could not get served and the bar maids have the customer service skills of dead parrot! However, there Tattoos are just as good as there swearing...Because they have very few staff serving/can't be bothered, they have a que/line out to served at a point at the bar...wait anywere else, you don't get served! This pub been going down the toilet for years and I'm not going back again!

Went into Liverpool yesterday had a lovely time went into a couple of your wetherspoons the staff were so efficient and the places were clean great service Today however we have called into our local wetherspoons in St Helen’s (The Glass house ) and was shocked what a difference. 1 member of staff serving other members of staff seem to be walking round doing nothing .The tables were dirty loads of glasses and plates every where. I asked for a cloth and spray to clean a table and they let me clean it myself 🤷‍♀️this is not what I would have expected. Very disappointed.

Has this recently changed landlords? This time last year I left fantastic feedback for this pob. I have used it twice a week since. I was in there this morning, when I proceeded to the disabled loo, I have a stoma in place. There were 3 people waiting in the queue to use the said loo. None of them were disabled, in fact 1 was a rough sleeper.... By the time I got into the loo people had turned it into a !!!!hole, it was disgusting!!! Somebody needs to install a disabled lock on this door. I then sat and watched 7 other people use the said loo & it became apparent that nobody used the ladies or gents but everybody uses the disabled loo.

We walked in to see the staff chin wagging at the bar. We took our seats and each ordered a coffee (and I ordered a garlic bread); the cups were brought to us after they finished their conversation. Over half an hour later (and one staff member chatting to another on her break), we enquire about the garlic bread and they chase it up. These people need to be hauled in for a customer service refresher course. Appalling.

Came on sunday. Hot chocolate wasnt working on either machine. Staff said been like that a while. Maybe fix it then? Had sum small amount of powdered hot choc in a cup next to machine. Half the hot drinks were off. Informed staff who sorted it but the coffees were disgustin

My daughter and I came here for breakfast, I was astounded at the cleanliness of this wetherspoons pub, I made a point of paying compliments to the staff, I frequently use wetherspoons & some are grubby! As far as Wetherspoons go this was pleasant enough. My boyfriend and I found a booth as there was plenty of space. The service wasn't THE quickest but I've experienced worse. I had the chicken strips with chips and my partner in crime had the halloumi and sweet chilli wrap. Tasty enough I must say! We both had a fruity cider too. Who can blame us, it was Saturday night?

Went in on The 18th ordered food and the power went, everyone was told to evacuate with refunds being issued in 10 days. Some nearly Three weeks later and several phone calls no refund

Staff are terrible, had to wait five minutes until they stopped chatting before they would serve me. Meal came with items missing, complained said would come over and sort out. Never came over

Disgusting, dirty tables, glasses and old food everywhere. No staff on floor cleaning up and no staff on floor wiping tables. Tables are disgusting. Sticky and smelly and full of the last persons for and drink. Chips all over floor and 20 mins later still...

This Wetherspoons just does what it does and really doesn't care a jot about its clientele. So the beer is cheap, tastes good and everything is relatively clean. That said...they seem to always have about 5 people behind the bar with only one person serving...too...

During the current restrictions we are told that if there are no tables available we are not allowed in. I accept this.What I don't accept is that I'm not allowed in when there ARE tables available because 'my boss said so'. When questioned I got the same answer 'my boss said so'. i walked away. After thinking I decided to complain on Wetherspoons website. I received a call from a 'Manager' who told me that the member of staff was right. It was full! She even emailed me to tell me that CCTV confirmed this. She is lying! the member of staff who refused me entry was a 'kitchen' colleague with no front of house training. He was removed from his duties an hour later!I'm not that bothered about drinking in an 'inferior' wetherspoons when there is a perfectly fine one 5 minutes walk away.My complaint is the staff lying when I can't have access to the CCTV but, at least, FIVE associates can bear witness!Avoid this pub for the reasons stated above. The so called 'Manager. has been reported to head office. I only hope CCTV will prove me right!

Very disappointed to see a Male customer vaping. He was also sat on a stool at the bar so not very inconspicuous either and didn't get challenged. Didn't think this was allowed inside? Come on staff get ur act together!! Thoughts pls.

Walked out tonight after waiting at the bar for 15 minutes to order food and drinks. We have been here on numerous occasions and we are aware that it has its problems, Slow service, staff shortages, dirty tables and of course the fact that the regulars seem to take priority, to name but a few. What I will not tolerate is the rude, obnoxious manager called Emma who thinks it is acceptable to use foul language when speaking to me. I am a paying customer and you Emma need to be taught how to speak to people. It seems you have been dragged up, foul language may be common place in your home but it is not in mine. You should reconsider your career as you are most definitely not suited to a front of house, customer focused role. I have also submitted a written complaint direct to Head Office.

Had to take car for service to St Helens took the opportunity to try wetherspoons pub in town. Lovely place plenty of people we had the mega breakfast absolutely gorgeous. We'll served with the perpetual tea and coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed 2of everything plus 3 hash browns and 2 toast. Stuffed and well worth it. Highly recommended

This must be the worst wetherspoons!After queuing to order food for ages, the server ignored me and served a 'regular', this has happened before too! I challenged the 'regular' who said. 'I've been here since 10am, I don't queue' , sadly he seems to be right! The server was very rude when I challenged her, I believe she is called Georgia! Suffice to say I will not be returning and will be writing to complain. A young man said he was the manager, which I don't believe, his name was Mark, he refused to take details of my complaint and said it would be rude for me to point out the offending server. Interesting if he is the manager. The pub had no steak club flyers on the tables and when I asked about this he said it's because the menu is changing. We then went to our normal wetherspoons, the Running Horses and they had the flyers on the table. The running horses is excellent and I will give them a 5 star review. Wetherspoons need to get a grip at the Glass House asap!

Staff are super friendly, the girl serving said it was her last shift but she was an angel. Food and drinks are just as good as any other spoons- BUT WHY ARE THERE FLIES EVERYWHERE One of them flew into my friends tomato and died in his breakfast

Had lunch at this pub on Tuesday August 20 2019. Overall everything was satisfactory for this type of establishment.

we decided to go to St Helens for a walk around on Sunday morning and we called in for a coffee we know we can always get a nice coffee here( other hot drinks are available) and as they have the offer of free refills after you have bought your 1st one

I visited today, with my partner and my mum. When we sat down the table was dirty and sticky. All of the other tables were cluttered. I was appalled by the attitude of one of the waiters as we were waiting for our food.An older couple sat next to us got given the wrong food. As they confronted the waitress on this she replied “no you got what you asked for” and slammed it down onto the table. The old lady replied “it’s okay I’ll go any buy another meal” !!!!!!When mine and my partners food arrived at 12-05 we were still waiting for my mothers at 12-15 they didn’t arrive at the same time. We ate our food, at this time my mothers still hadn’t arrived and it was 12-30pm. I asked a waiter where the food was as we already ate ours, for her to reply “oh I’ve taken it to the wrong table”. She apologised and this was NOT her fault, as she was clearly rushed off her feet as they are so understaffed! At 12-50 I went to the bar to speak to a manager as the food still didn’t arrive. I explained we’d been waiting since 12-05 for my mothers meal and we’d ate ours in the time since! The food we ate was cold and clearly not fresh. The MANAGER had a foul attitude and clearly shouldn’t have the position she does with the company. She didn’t do anything to make the situation better just said “I’ll get you a refund”Will not be returning as it was a disgrace. I strongly advise higher management to find some new managers as the current ones are incapable and arrogant and clearly do not value their jobs.

Every time we go to this glass house we always get turned away when we order our meals they never have any meat to put on our meals. That's happened 4 times now
