The best restaurants serving British food in North West

I am not one for writing reviews, but given my exceptional customer experience at Cafe Blu, I decided to make an exception to the rule. From the offset, everybody at the Cafe was friendly, down-to-earth and very welcoming. I didn’t have any cash on me and had to pay by card/phone, however there was a hiccup with the payment going through. To my astonishment, this was resolved swiftly, and in a manner that I have never experienced before...anywhere. Thanks again for that. I ordered a bacon and egg on toast that was cooked to perfection. The egg was lovely and runny and the bacon was perfectly cooked and not too fatty. I have had similar butties from other establishments that have gone straight in the bin. This one was cooked to perfection. I honestly cant recommend this Cafe enough. Whilst waiting for my sarnie to be cooked, I briefly chatted with a pleasant young lady who I believe is the niece of the proprietors. She took time out to explain what's on offer, menu-wise, and how they are pro-actively looking for new ideas/recipes to accommodate their customer requirements/pallet. Get yourself down to Cafe Blu or order via ‘Just Eat’ – you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent food at Poppy Rose Tea Rooms. Everything is fresh and well presented. The Staff are all very pleasant and they cant do enough for you. When you have been once you will want to go again, and again! 👍😄

Being local, we've been many times to Scott's Bistro, and it's just superb. Consistently good, high quality, freshly cooked food. Great selection of drinks and the service is exceptional. Our go-to place for a meal out. Highly recommended.

Truly excellent experience with the guys running this place. I was sold faulty equipment elsewhere. They explained what was wrong, how to get the results I wanted cheaper, more easily and better. You can tell they have a passion for what they sell and know their products. Take their advice if you want the best out of your vape.

Holidaying in Wetheral, tried the Posting Pot for lunch. Lovely food (club sandwich so tasty and salmon bagel great). Everything tasted fresh and the accompaniments of crisp, coleslaw and salad were very welcome. No room for cake though after quite large portions😁. Staff very friendly and as it was a nice day we were able to sit outside. Would recommend. Hope to return.

Delicious food at very affordable prices! Highly recommend their Sichuan (slow cooked) pork soup noodle, must have spent hours and hours in marinating and cooking, juicy and full of flavours 😋😋

Our 4th visit to Orme but first visit for the Sunday lunch and if you’re looking for the ultimate Sunday lunch, Orme is the place to go. Their roast is nothing short of perfection—succulent, tender meats, crispy-yet-fluffy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables. The Yorkshire puddings are golden and towering, just as they should be! The warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch with family or friends. The service is friendly and attentive, ensuring every detail is just right. For a Sunday lunch that truly delivers on flavor, quality, and comfort, Orme is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Precis: Wow! Excellent! Any other superlative you choose! Full review: What a wonderful gem of a find! From the start the welcome was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Gary, Donna and their team; what a diamond they have found in Jack! The quality of the furnishings is very high, the fittings top class and the home made biscuits in the bedroom were delicious! Even a welcome decanter of sherry to start off your stay! The hallway walls are adorned with award plaques from numerous organisations! The grounds were extensive and very well kept. We had read about the wild red squirrels and hoped we may get to spot one - no fears there; we watched them running around the garden and feeder each day! Now for the food! Absolutely excellent! Each evening started at 7pm with canapés and good conversation with fellow guests, most of whom seem to be repeat visitors, with good reason! Gary is very personable and quite the bon viveur, his knowledge of wine is excellent, after all by his own admission he has been in the game for a good number of years! The four course dinner menu is set, no choices, but the menu is on display each morning and I'm sure that alternatives could be organised if enough notice were given. Each course was exquisite, served piping hot (where appropriate!) and presented beautifully, as was the table in general. Service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was just as good! Hazel Bank has seven rooms and the restaurant is open only to residents. All this means that each guest gets very personal, and personable, service from start to finish! If you think that this review is a little enthusiastic then I doubt you've visited! Don't get me wrong, it isn't for everybody and nowhere is totally perfect, but Hazel Bank gets VERY close!

I loved the cosy interesting vibe here. With a thoughtful, inventive menu, it's obvious the food is made with skill and care. The soups and cakes we had were excellent, and the welcome was very warm.

Started our walk up the Cumbria Way with a beautiful breakfast bun at this lovely little cafe. Fantastic service, music and food.

Absolutely amazing. The food was perfect. The staff very friendly.

We originally planned to come for breakfast but we were running late and got to the cafe after 12 so opted for the fish & chips, it was lovely. Lovely little cafe
