The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Went to fry-days this evening for the first time, had traditional chippy food rather than Chinese so chips, fish cakes, etc. and it was absolutely delicious. The chip portions are huge (we got two large chips to share between 3 and ended up only needing the one portion), and the lady running the chippy was very apologetic for food taking time to cook (please don’t ever apologise for the food being cooked fresh). Lovely business and lovely food. Will definitely be back again.

Lovely stopping off point after a long walk. First class food- both the evening meal and the breakfast. Lots of little extra touches that made the stay perfect including a place to leave soggy boots to dry off so they were nice and toastie the next morning. Welcoming host who made this solo female walker feel safe and welcome. Highly recommended.

All the food was excellent and everything complemented each other on each plate. The service was exceptional and the waiters couldn’t do more for you. Me and my partner very much enjoyed our evening and will definitely come back. We went on a voucher booking so only cost us £62.50 for drinks and service but would say it’s definitely worth the full value of which was £200.

We're lucky that this is our local tea room. Food, service, and atmosphere all excellent. The cafe is hidden behind d the village hall but well worth finding. Plenty of free parking. Warning, It is very popular, so it's best to book!

So glad to have had Café Bonbon recommended to me by word of mouth. What an excellently-run café! David is a friendly and accommodating proprietor, nothing seems too much trouble and he takes time to genuinely engage with customers. Placing an order a day in advance went smoothly. David was helpful and efficient in responding to both phone and email enquiries and his communication was excellent, which is always a godsend, especially these days. The sandwiches are fresh, tasty and made with care. Superb choice of fillings and dressings! The cakes are also delicious, fresh and interesting. All in all, good value for money. A wholly positive experience, and one that you only get when someone loves what they do. Looking forward to returning in the future! Thank you David and David.

Had a meal on the day of new menu-disappointed that there was no choice for plain food except fish and chips!-no Scampi-no Chicken-please relook at this for plain eaters! Beef was tough in parts and the new potatoes with the fish were hard and bland! The duck was amazing as was the Eton Mess-so please please look at putting chicken on your menu -also have a mains salmon that’s not smoked!-on the whole lovely food as always-just needs a few tweeks!

Me and my partner went for the first time yesterday and as soon as we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome by David who we now know runs the restaurant with his wife and a team great staff. The food was delicious and freshly made. It was relaxing and spotless and anyone who likes good home cooking at a reasonable price won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for making our meal for our 40th wedding anniversary with our friends so memorable. The standard of food was superb and presentation exceptional, this was down to the dedication of the team in the kitchen and their mentors . The service we received from the young man (clover) was outstanding and he should be rightly proud as the rest of the serving team and mentors should be. £21 yes £21 for a three course restaurant meal and expirience. When we are next up this way on holiday we shall most definately be booking a lunch and will recommend to our family and friends. Finally a big thankyou for the marvellous cake which you presented to us. It was delicious and again a reflection of the superb team you have at the college including the your booking collegue. The children's meal was amazing you got an animal cupcake, tomato soup, strawberry jelly with sprinkles and marshmallows, sandwiches, donut with sprinkles, fries,a very mini pizza. They do gluten free food aswell. Very good service there is very nice food. I would definitely recommend this place for afternoon tea or just a nice day out. @SykesideRossendaleEngland

Honestly this is the best breakfast by far in Chorley !! The staff could not be anymore friendly and accommodating, specifically to my needs . Food is always cooked to perfection and the place is always clean and ready to go . I’ve been going for food since around November 24 and it’s always my first choice to go since then . Would highly recommend and have recommended to mates etc ! Top job team

What a little gem of a cafe! Next to a decent sized car park, we popped into Yam Frae Yam on a disgustingly wet Saturday afternoon. We had missed the breakfast menu (served until 12) but one of us had a bacon and brie panini and lemon meringue blondie. Both were delicious and great quality. We both also had coffees which were expertly made. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, even giving us recommendations on walking trails locally and showing us specific routes on Google maps. Loved the unusual decor and the cafe felt spacious - unlike many others where you feel like you're sat on top of other customers! A lovely place to spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon. We hope to return again and sample the breakfast menu! And a shout out to the young lad working there who served our drinks and food and was proactive in clearing our table.

Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with vibrant flavors that were both innovative and comforting. From the delicate amuse-bouches to the decadent desserts, each course was a perfect balance of texture, flavour and creativity. The wine pairings were equally spectacular, with each pour complementing the courses perfectly. The sommelier’s expertise was evident, guiding us through the selections with detailed descriptions and insight into the origins and notes of each wine. Each sip seemed to enhance the flavors of the dishes, making the experience all the more enjoyable. However, what truly set this experience apart was the service that went above and beyond. After our meal, we found ourselves in a bit of a predicament when our taxi failed to arrive. Without hesitation, a staff member offered to drive us home, ensuring we had a safe and comfortable journey back. This kind gesture left a lasting impression on us. It wasn’t just about the meal; it was about making sure we felt cared for in every way. This restaurant offers not just an evening out, but a genuine escape into a world of luxury, fine dining, and exceptional service. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will undoubtedly return to experience more of the unforgettable magic they create.
