The Mess Cafe in Manchester

Stumbled across this cafe whilst in the area for work and since gone back several times. The food is incredibly tasty and beautifully presented. Wait times are also satisfactory for a busy coffee shop. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive to your needs. The atmosphere is great if you want to work as well, with great coffee available in house. Plug sockets are limited, which means if you are wanting to work be mindful. Would recommend a visit if you are in area for a fantastic experience.

Fantastic little cafe and hub. I visit regularly; the food and coffee are spot on, as is the service. Libby makes a top class iced Americano and the chefs always cook up a storm. The pies are incredible! Although if you're on a diet, this place is dangerous 😂

Love this place! Total regular and the staff are always so welcoming and friendly and remember your usual order! Thank you for giving such a nice space to come and work, socialise or recaffeinate… and the coffee is great! ☺️

Worked a project next door and visited the cafe for a hot drink and relax after I’d finished filming. The volunteers behind the counter were friendly and welcoming, engaging and the Hot Chocolate I had was 10/10. Highly recommended!

One of the favourite places in the local area. Staff is super welcoming, friendly, always in a good mood, food is served beautifully, menu is great too. Prices are very reasonable. We come there sometimes only for a coffee which is greatly made, otherwise we come for our regular dishes (full breakfast and smashed avocado sourdough) and every single time we leave happy. Big thumbs up to the staff and purpose of this cafe. Fully support.

Lovely cafe with nice food and service but I have no idea why their loyalty card is only for coffee and not tea when tea is cheaper to give away and not everyone drinks coffee. A small thing but weirdly annoying 😂

Lovely little place hidden in an industrial estate at Sharston/Gatley. A great idea and concept locally. Food is decent, prices are ok, portions are a bit small however.

The concept of this place is good. A coffee was £3. A black lady behind the counter was friendly. A big bluebottle fly kept settling on my coffee cup but that could happen anywhere of course. I will try it again sometime. To be brutally honest, a coffee machine here would be a great idea.

What a shock this place is on an industrial estate in wythenshawe ! The staff, cleanliness and food is first class! Go take a look! big industrial unit, very modern funish8ngs and also a community shop with great deals! We were shocked and going back this week, and our favourite place to eat and the food prices and drinks are unbeatable for the price! it's worth a trip 💫 ps also fantastic to find a place that isn't worried about this being a christian founded operation built on Christian values, helping people get back on course, brilliant in times where we find the faith of our country attacked daily even by the leader of the Christian church in the uk.

Wow, what a cafe! Their hot chocolates are amazing and the staff are SO friendly I could not recommend it enough. It’s a great place to work and also to go with friends, get yourself down! (I’m gluten free and they have gluten free bread so can accommodate)

I'm very happy because this place is very cozy and familiar, everyone here is very friendly, the manager Merlin is very elegant and makes us happy. we were infected with so much joy, I confess that I renewed my strength in this place, Lybby was very nice and they served us very well, all the food was very clean, excellent quality and delicious dishes, impeccable breakfast, lunch, all the workers are clean and presentable and the best of everything is at a fair price for an excellent service, thank you very much the mess café I will always be there with this family The Message Trust.🌹🌸🌼🌻🌺

Every town should have a message “Mess Cafe” I highly recommend the salads, but I have to say , my personal favourite is the beetroot and goats cheese salad!!! Absolutely phenomenal… every bite releases a burst of flavour to the taste buds. Commandments to the chef. The coffee is the best I’ve ever tasted, far superior t the high end coffee shops! Staff are warm, welcoming and professional. Thank you for making my stay a wonderful experience.

Honestly a very good experience. I woke up today wanting a Fresh avocado on toast! Looked for places close to me and found this cafe on Google. While driving there I got confused for being in an Industrial state and nearly turn ed around... But no! What a surprise. I loved the place/the service/the food so yummy. What a diamond in the rough. It may be sited in an industrial estate but it is definitely no greasy spoon. Each meal is averaging at about £10 - £12 and then drinks on top. The selection is awesome and has a more upper end cafe experience. The staff are amazing, so friendly and attentive. Great customer service and good food too.

Fantastic place and a proper gem. Needed to work remotely whilst my mum went in for an operation at a hospital nearby and this place was the perfect spot. Really open and spacious, with plenty of windows for lots of natural light, really cool vibe and setting, chilled music and atmosphere, nice furniture, enough sockets to work remotely, really enjoyable food and drinks at good prices as well as it being part of a charitable community. What more can I say? Would deffo come here again and rate it well

The Candy crush choc wasn't half as good as I expected but I can see they were trying to be innovative but the crushed candy was hard on the teeth and too stark a contrast with the hot choc drink which caused a clash. Marshmallows work way better.

The best cafe in Manchester. I had Eggs Benedict with Salmon. It was exceptional, also the staff were so attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend this place, it’s an amazing place to dine.

The cafe has always been my go to place for great food, good customer service and amazing atmosphere! I’ve recommended The Mess to many of my friends and they’ve told me that i should shown them this place sooner 😂 Will definitely return for a coffee soon when on the way to work! (Shout out to the barista who made this amazing latte art)

One bad experience after the other. First time I went to this place I had to wait 35-40 mins before even getting to speak to someone to put in my order just to be told they didn’t have what I wanted (despite being on the menu Gave them another shot and went with my colleagues. We mostly all ordered at the same time. I ordered a bare chicken burger, just that!! Tell me why all my colleagues received their order after 15-20 mins or so and I received mine after a whole hour!!! Despite having ordered prior to some of my colleagues. I physically had to go to the counter and chase my order. And even after that it took a further 10 mins to come. In other words, they forgot my order. Such a bad experience. I wanted to eat with my colleagues and instead ended up being the last one eating while everyone had finished. As this was during lunch breach and I didn’t want to delay my colleagues; I had a few bites and had to take the food back to the office. You turned a good experience out to just being annoyed; didn’t even end up enjoying the food. The fact that after a whole hour someone came around and had to ask me what I ordered; then said it would come; 10 mins nothing, I chased on the till, nothing! Then the same woman who took my order passed by and her expression was “oh your food I forgot again”. Like!! Cmon!!! Y’all need to do your job properly. I am never going there ever again cause you’ll Make someone enter happy and leave annoyed and upset. £10 for a bad experience How can you literally forget a customers order?! You need better management and customer service and no the burger was not worth the wait. The fact that a customer had to be the one to remind you of their own order says a lot about the management and the workers. You need to do better Definetly do not do there if you want a quick bite! If you have hours to spend waiting for food and you’re not hungry then sure! But definetly not for lunch time

Super Noisy & Waaaay Overpriced!

What a find The Mess cafe is, was shopping nearby so did a quick google for cafes nearby and The mess was round the corner. Popped in for breakfast and what a brekkie, absolutely perfect. All the ingredients were high quality and cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere in there so ended up staying for another coffee. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Came here for the coffee. Not many places left that do a nice latte for £3.

A gem of a place the barista truly loves what he does, try and experience for yourself and the americano is next level, such depth of flavour, a return visit is a must

Popped in with Martin Meerkat for a breakfast. Sat twixt Northenden and Gatley on the industrial estate which gives it regular custom. Large airey hall. Ordered two small breakfasts at £8 each...£4 extra to double up to a big one. Americano £2.90. Have only been once before but well worth visiting. The building is a community hub with lots of activities. Good quality food.

A perfect an a delightful coffee, a good smile from the barista. But the kitchen is a proper disaster twenty five minutes for a bacon sandwich (25) it wasn't busy at all.

Good quality coffee with some very nice, if slightly greasy, sweet potato fries. A little pricey, but due to it being a community hub you know it's going to a good cause.

My first visit & the staff were helpful, bringing my food outside for me (I use a rollator). The smashed avocado on toast with poached egg & a warm hint of chilli was gorgeous & the capuchino coffee, both appeared speedily. The inside is knight, clean & airy with space for prams etc to move around. Lovely experience
