me gustó mucho, me encontraba caminando por la zona y fue ideal para relajarme. Pedí una taza de té negro, estaba muy sabroso, en especial aromático, lo acompañé con un brownie de chocolate, muy fresco.

I spent a morning wandering around second hand shops in the eclectic Northern Quarter in Manchester and when my legs tired out I went into Sparkles for a sit down. The place is bright clean, friendly and unpretentious and my pot of tea and homemade muffin was just right. The owners clearly have their heart in the business, judging by the effort they put in sprucing up the original antique tiles and flooring. The baking is done on the premises and this is comforting to me. For someone who stays clear of mainstream coffeeshop chains Sparkles was perfect for me. Oh! and prices are reasonable.

Probé un desayuno, un curry africano, un asado de domingo y una ensalada de caja. Todos estaban limpios, bien presentados y, lo que es más importante, muy sabroso. Siempre muy acogedor a cualquier hora que entre. Gran equipo.

Still my favourite place in Manchester. From the hospitality and welcome to the absolutely incredible food! Complex but approachable cooking with sauces to die for. Each dish is immaculate and full of flavour with superb presentation. The guys here are just going from strength to strength, every visit they somehow keep getting better. Inventive drinks offering with local suppliers and natural wines. Front of house is relaxed and attentive but the stars of the show are Julian and Max the chef/owners whose welcome and conversation is the best you will get anywhere in the city. Wether it’s on the chefs table or being served one of their dishes they truly make every meal a special occasion. Absolutely loving what these guys are doing and with the challenges of the venue size they are smashing it out the park. Go and visit Exhibition too in Manchester where they have a kitchen serving incredible flatbread based dishes called Jaan.
