They do gluten free food aswell. Very good service there is very nice food. I would definitely recommend this place for afternoon tea or just a nice day out. @SykesideRossendaleEngland

I have been to Sykeside several times over 2021 with a group of friends usually about 15 of us. The quality of food, service, surroundings and ambiance has been amazing. We are always made so welcome. They have shown attention to detail with any special food requests such as my nut allergy. Our Christmas meal was excellent and we have already booked for January. This is a great independent hotel and restaurant that is family run and well worth supporting and I can’t recommend enough.

We went here for afternoon tea as I had taken dinner at this restaurant many years ago and wanted to try it again. The location is between Haslingden and Rawtenstall and the building and grounds are substantial. Afternoon Tea delivered what was on the label and the dining room was very nice. All food items were fresh and there was enough. The price was relatively high however there was really nothing about the fayre that made it stand out. The staff were friendly however they were way over attentive in that our satisfaction was checked four times within 10 minutes, each time by a differant person. Then, at the end, when I wanted unused items boxing up and to request the bill, no staff could be found and I had to go searchng. On departure there was no staff member to be seen and our departure passed entirely unoticed

Visited The Sykeside Restaurant on Saturday 21st August for afternoon tea which was lovely and great value I have paid a lot more and had less. Returned on Wednesday 25th August for a set lunch celebrating our anniversary What can I say, the Sykeside which had been recommended to us by a friend did not let us down with the food again being excellent and there was plenty of it served in a relaxing atmosphere. Will be back,a hidden gem.

The afternoon tea here is excellent. there is a great choice of sandwiches and savory bites, plus chips and a loevely home made soup. The cakes and pastries are many and you can take home what you cant manage to eat. We addede the Prosecco to celebrate and it was really good. Great value for money. the service was excellent too.

Decided to treat wife with birthday Sunday lunch. The classic ambience, excellent service and incredibly good value for money and quality menu choices, including for vegetarians. We went for two courses of main and dessert with leek and stilton risotto/salmon and Pavlova/ cheesecake, sparling water and coffee. £38 all in. Excellent value and service. Very highly recommended.

Attended today for a family lunch. These are a fairly regular event and have been for some time now but I felt it appropriate to write a review and praise the consistently high standards of food and service at this charming family-run venue. 6 of us met in the comfortable lounge for drinks and were looked after by the very attentive mother and daughter team. We were shown into the conservatory and enjoyed the most unhurried and delicious 3 course meal, always cooked to a high standard with ample portions of vegetables to accompany. Service was very friendly and relaxed, our meals were lovely and we all really enjoyed the time spent together. A booking has been made for a special birthday in April (buffet) and we have already booked for another lunch prior to this. Congratulations to all at The Sykeside....especially our waitress who was great and not forgetting the chefs who turn out some excellent food. Highly recommended.

We had the Sunday dinner, it was very nice with a good choice. I had garlic mushrooms, very nice. Followed by beef Sunday dinner which was very nicely presented accompanied with perfectly cooked vegetables. The beef was a little on the thin side and a little cool for me but was also lovely presented. For dessert I had strawberry pavlova Yum yum! A perfect finish to a lovely meal in a very homely surrounding. The choice of desserts was the best I had a hard time deciding which one to pic as I loved all of them! A very pleasant place with very good staff/waiters The cost for a 3 course was about £18 each Pics of the beef and chicken and veg, sorry no pic of my dessert

My wife and I have been away quite a lot this year and not been 'home' as much as in previous years so we visited our favourite restaurant for lunch on Friday. My wife and the excellent homemade paté and I the crab and crayfish ravioli to start, followed by the oven-braised lamb shank and I ended my wonderful meal with homemade sticky toffee pudding; the most difficult decision was to choose which pudding to not have because the choice was amazing. There are far fewer reviews of this restaurant than one would expect but perhaps that's because regular diners want to keep this gem to themselves; without a shadow of a doubt, in my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Rossendale; not only is the quality of everything top notch but the value for money is exceptional. The Beauty of the 'Ridings Restaurant' at Sykeside Country House hotel is that the quality and consistency of the food, welcome and service never varies nor fails to impress. To sit in the warm ambience of the lounge bar to peruse the menu and have a pre-meal drink is a delight almost from a bygone era. Fortunately for us, our Christmas family get together has been booked for months so we're guaranteed our place at the table. I think one would really struggle to reserve a table close to Christmas but there's still time to book for earlier in December I'm sure but if you cannot go before book in for January as a relaxing treat after the hectic festive season; you won't be sorry. I cannot praise adequately highly.

This is a really wonderful family run hotel which we can recommend without any hesitation whatsoever. From our first contact by email to the lovely goodbye it was a first class experience. It is idealy situated and although close to a main thoroughfare quiet and secluded. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with every one could need provided for - we even had a sauna in the bathroom. The bar area is very comfortable and we both enjoyed a delicious - Friday Night Special - evening meal. Breakfast was equally as good, freshly cooked to order, and plentiful. Very friendly and welcoming and would certainly stay there again in the future - actually we decided we would return to discover the Rossendale Valley and stay at the Sykeside.

We stayed here on our way to a 90th party. They were very friendly and made sure that we were well looked after - with an absolutely scrummy breakfast each day. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we were on the ground floor, handy for the exit to the disabled parking spot! I would recommend this little hotel and hope to stay there again.

Visited for a family occasion, Sunday Lunch, and as ever everything was just right which is excellent because no matter the size of your party, and there are often large parties, Sykeside or, to give the Restaurant its proper name, Ridings, have the experience and expertise to ensure that your visit is 'perfect' which may be a feature of it being a family owned and run venture so there is perhaps a greater affinity with the guests as they are invariably families. The menu, to my great delight (saves me agonising over what to eat) has adequate choice, without one being bombarded with options, for anyone (one of my daughters is a vegetarian and she had a lovely meal) and the quality of food was consistent as ever; consistency of quality is a big plus, a bit like MacDonald's but on a different level in that when you go you will have expectations that will be met. In terms of cost the offering is very good value indeed. There is a pleasant ambience in the bar for pre- or post-meal drinks. All-in-all a visit to Ridings Restaurant is a delightful experience that you will want to repeat be it a family affair as was ours or an intimate dinner for two. Whilst actually relevant to this occasion I cannot end without mention of their Afternoon Tea which is just FANTASTIC and very reasonable;y priced so give that a try too on a day and time to suit you.

We have friends in Hasligden, and were looking for a B&B;, just somewhere to have a bed for the night. 80 quid seemed reasonable for bed and breakfast for two. On arrival, we both regretted that we were there for only one night. It's a lovely old mill owner's house, well preserved. It could be an ideal setting for a muder mystery. I think we were in Room 3. It was spacious, big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath thingy, tea and coffee, huge TV, and a big four poster bed. We could have stayed for a few days, just to be in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was gorgeous. Lancashire is the birthplace of the black pudding, and the slice with my breakfast, along with bacon, sausage, tomato, hash brown and toast, didn't disappoint. I can't wait to go back.

As a family we have dined and stayed at the hotel for the past few years. The staff are all friendly and courteous and nothing seems too much trouble. My parents had their diamond wedding family celebration there and despite having a full restaurant that afternoon were more than willing to squeeze us in.
