Sorry didn't mean to send you 1 star there was a reason I took a magnifying glass to the restaurant, the experience was unforgettable for myself and Gary lovely way to spend my birthday, food was amazing we struggled to pick a favourite dish, we cannot recommend it enough apart from the delicious food the atmosphere was great we had fun lots of laughs with Steven and his dad we will remember it for a long time to come, thank you both so much

We’ve now been a few times and each time without fail we’ve had a fantastic night. Because of our past experiences we asked Stephen if he would open for us on a Thursday night so I could celebrate my 50th. What a great night! We had our own private restaurant, Stephen and his Dad couldn’t have been more helpful and as usual the food was excellent and even more geared to our own tastes to make it more special then usual. We’ve eaten in a few Michelin stared restaurants around the country but to be honest we always have a better experience in Metamorphica. Cant wait for our Christmas meal in there.

Small, intimate and personal. Incredible food, served with personality, passion and authenticity. 10 Fabulous courses. So much work, skill and flavour hidden by simple descriptions on the menu. Everything was described to our table by our great chef Steven and we were looked after by his Dad who works with him. We had the accompanying wine flight which was customised to meet my preferences, and was delicious, excellently matched and generous. Fabulous experience- not just a meal - we all 100% recommend.

Its taken me a long time to visit , even though I'm local, and it was well worth waiting for. Steven is an amazing chef and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I'll be dreaming about the tartare and guava sorbet for weeks to come!

2nd time here and our only regret is that we have left it so long to come back. Every course was excellent as was the wine pairing. Chef Steven cooked in front of us and explained every dish. His Dad was an excellent assistant and provided the background musical accompaniment. In our view, easily worthy of Michelin recommendation. The food was befitting of the season, light, fresh and packed full of flavour. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Not just fantastic food, but an excellent full evening dining experience. Amazed at chef Steven's imagination in creating delicious but unusual dishes. Every single dish of the 11 course taster menu was a winner. Front of house (Tim, Steven's dad) was very efficient, and an entertaining conversationalist. Great selection of artisan beers. Best taster menu we have had so far, beating a few Michelin starred establishments we have dined in. Will definitely be back.

We had a delightful evening with Steven & his dad. We were the only couple in the restaurant and were made to feel completely at home. Both Steven & his dad were charming, friendly & engaging. The food was of a very high standard, beautifully prepared, cooked & presented. Every course was delicious and the menu flowed perfectly. We opted for the standard drinks journey which was superb, interesting, varied & unusual. We were both very impressed with a young talented chef working hard to realise his vision. Absolutely first class in every way. Steven is an exceptionally talented chef, with a dynamic menu full of entertaining combinations, intentional surprises, and high impact mains. The room is intimate, relaxed, yet open and contemporary. The room is airy, even next to the kitchen area, and the background tunes were right up my street. Both Steven and Tim are happy to talk during service - we had the chef's table and took full advantage of it. It was really interesting to hear about the food, but equally engaging to chat about Steven's journey, the trials and tribulations of running a modern restaurant in modern times, art, music, place... We'd recommend taking a seat at the bar. We thought the pricing was completely reasonable. Considering the recent political and economic climate and the heavy impact on costings (gas, electric, every conceivable ingredient) we think Steven has done well to offer such quality while keeping to the lower end of the pricing bracket for this level of dining experience. (We've both worked in catering and have a half decent frame of reference. It isn't easy.) Of course, you can spend as much as you like on the wine flights (wife says the 'Prestige Journey' was fantastic) but there's a fine offer of cordials, teas and (Bob Marley's estate) coffee. We're going again, that's certain. We couldn't do it every week (we'd like to) but every other month or so would be a definite treat for us. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing experience. Would really recommend. The food is to die for and the atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated.

Brilliant food and great service, a must visit even if you are not local to the area! Each visit has been a unique experience with different dishes and wines to taste. Steven is a fantastic chef and a genuine down to earth guy, I would recommend sitting at the chef's table to really enjoy the experience of seeing the food being prepared. This is easily one of the best dining experiences we have had!

Steven and Tim provide the best environment, with both customers and food at the heart of everything they do. Steven will happily provide information on ingredients and the menu and Tim stories of the local area. A real must visit, for incredible food, excellent drinks and a great atmosphere

Simon is a truly talented chef … his attention to flavour building is outstanding with ech course perfectly balanced. I love the limited numbers as this creates a very personal dinning experience. I was driving so didn’t get to enjoy the wine option … won”t make that mistake for my next visit. It was privilege to eat here. Highly recommend a visit.

Best tasting menu in Lancashire and a reasonable price point. A great hidden and secret restaurant. Very small venue which provides an intimate atmosphere. Great service and Great food. Highly recommend chef’s table, as it provides a good opportunity to learn about the dishes and their creation and is only £10-20 more. Have been several times and already booked for this year.

Wow !! The most amazing dining experience we’ve ever experienced. Steven is a supremely talented young chef, the service food and overall dining experience were second to none. 5 hours flew by, we arrived at 6pm a little early for our dinner but that didn’t matter. We had a drink by the fire and were then just entertained for the whole evening with culinary delights and paired wines. Wholeheartedly recommended!!

Felt like Royalty from the start..Every course was special in its own way and just when you think you've eaten the tastiest course you get a better one..Four hours went like the wind..Stephen and his Dad provided great conversation and great insight in to Gourmet food..if you have a special occasion coming up just book..don't hesitate

This was a delightful evening. Sat at the chef's table to watch the cooking and chat with Steven, 4.5 hours and it was terrific. The food, taste, presentation perfect. Although 4.5 hours, it went really fast. Steven even went to the trouble to source a bottle of alcohol free red wine for us. Is a special occasion place but will definitely return.

Blown away by this place. My wife and I have been twice and the food, wine and all-round dining experience was exceptional.

What a fantastic find by our friends Dee and Gray, nothing too much trouble, made to feel very welcome and charming interaction. The food and drink are Absolutely amazing, along with the attention to detail which is second to none. It was so good we booked again, before finishing the meal. @michelinguide you have to book into this restaurant as this chef makes the grade by miles. See you in October.

Less than 30 minutes from the M6, this unassuming restaurant is the business. Booking is essential, the 10 course tasting menu was absolutely perfect, so too the choice of beers. Highlights include the Pork & Smoked Leaves main and Brioche, Cucumber and Apple dessert. Chapeau Steven - a most enjoyable evening.

What an amazing dining experience at Metamorphica Amazing food, beautiful presentation, perfect ambience, and a great all round experience. Dining here has been one of my best so far. A truly wonderful experience. Steven is a fantastic chef and host. His creations were divine, each as beautiful and tasty as the next, winding through 9 courses of utterly gorgeous and mouthwatering dishes (all apparently forever changing). The drinks journey was a nice change from a usual wine pairing, with a variety of different to compliment the dishes. Tipping this from great to excellent was Steven himself; sitting at the chef's table, being able to interact with him as he artfully constructed each dish really raised this above the traditional experience. We were able to ask so much about the dishes, the methods, Steven's story - all were patiently, humbly and charmingly relayed to us. A fantastic evening. I can't recommend enough. If you can afford to treat yourself, just go. You won't regret it. We will be back!

An absolutely wonderful restaurant! A hidden gem on an unassuming high street. Delicious food, fresh and interesting flavours, a friendly and warm atmosphere and a lovely chef in Steven who was passionate about his food and happy to chat about his menu. I'd wholeheartedly recommend.

We went for my birthday not knowing what to really expect. We booked for the chef's table. This is a very intimate dining experience with, at the moment, only six covers per night. What you get it, besides amazing food, is a first hand experience of the preparation and cooking of it. If you are thinking it might be for you then just book it. I don't think you will be disappointed. We certainly will be talking about it for years to come.

What an absolutely fantastic evening spent at Metamorphica. A Dining Experience full of flavours and unique combinations that were truly fabulous. Sat at "The Chefs Table", we watched as Steven created his dishes as he explained ingredients and the effort that goes into creating them. We will definitely be returning to Metamorphica to experience more Magical Moments. Highly Reccomended!

We visited this restaurant last night and the whole experience was fantastic from the minute we walked through the door until we left, 4.5 hours later. The food was cooked and presentation was perfection. We sat at the chefs table and I was mesmerised watching Steve cook. He explained all the ingredients and how and why he was cooking it, in a certain way. There was plenty of choice on the drinks menu. I would recommend visiting this little hidden gem.

I honestly think I’ve died and gone to heaven. The food here is utterly sublime. I feel honoured to be in Steven’s presence at the chef’s table, he really is a genius.

We celebrated a ‘special’ birthday with Metamorphica. What a great experience; dishes expertly prepared by Steven who explained about each dish and explained the wines selected by him to complement. Tim was attentive and served us courteously. An altogether wonderful evening- we will definitely visit again.

First class dining experience. If I could give 6 stars I would! An absolute must try restaurant.

Second time visiting restaurant metamorphica. We would go more often but our 6 month old keeps us busy. My husband and I love this place. From the ambience- has an industrial vibe with the decor and love all the books and artwork along with the handmade by the chef furniture. The food is amazing it is a set 10 course tasting menu and I had the wine flight. The food is just amazing and I would encourage anyone to go. The price for the menu is amazing. The service from head chef Stephen is second to none he is a very genuine guy and passionate about his food and ethos for his business. He is genuinely interested in his customers and we were very touched at the end of the meal when he gave us a card congratulating us on the birth of our son and a happy new year card. We recently went to wood and hipping hall for tasting menus and restaurant metamorphica surpassed these by far. We will keep coming back here we love it. Thank you to Stephen and Tim.

Fantastic meal. Every course was beautifully delivered ànd just enough without being overfacing. Only problem was that it was cold. It will be loads better when they get the fire sorted. It hasn't put us off wanting to visit again.

Greeted at the door by the chef and shown to your table is such a nice touch to start this culinary experience. This unique 11 taster menu was a joyous evening. We sat and watched this ambitious young chef at work while we ate the mouth watering dishes until the end, and it was a pleasant end for sure.

An independent restaurant by Chef Steven Halligan This experience is unique, your taste buds will enjoy the exciting different flavours offered over 11 courses, not only this, you can converse with Chef Steven throughout the evening, he cooks in front of you and guides you through every course. The whole experience felt like you had been invited into a friend’s house for dinner. I would highly recommend you joint Steven, on one of his journeys, through one of his great menus. Absolutely stunning! The whole experience was truly exceptional. Each dish was conscientiously crafted by a real master of his art, innovative and executed to perfection. The drinks parings were thoughtful, different and complemented the food beautifully.
