The Fig Tree in Rossendale

This popular café is located in the town centre. It has a small interior and some outside space to the rear. We had two flat white coffees which cost £5.40.

We often eat here when in Rawtenstall. The food is delicious and the overall feel of the cafe is cozy and pleasant. The staff are really friendly and always accommodate my little girl (2 years old). It is a real hidden gem in Rawtenstall and well worth a visit. I tried the biscoff cheesecake today and it was delicious and completely homemade. In fact, all the food is homemade and there are generous size portions! I would highly recommend here if you’re ever in Rawtenstall and fancy a light lunch with a cake!

I reckon I’ve tried all the menu now after coming here frequently over last few years. Chef quality food with the best of ingredients served timely and fresh. Truthfully I reckon this is the best small venue in Rawtenstall. Always my first choice

Super friendly owner & staff, cakes are to die for ! Ended up bringing some home too as they were too delicious not to ! Quirky crockery & quirky decor, gonna try & book on for the Tapas night which happens every two weeks but are booked up until September 😫 we’ll guys you must be something right ! 👏🏻👏🏻 love this place ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tapas night What a fantastic night, the ambience and setting was fabulous, set us up for a lovely night. Looking around and seeing all the twinkling lights , candles and hearing the Spanish music made us excited about what to come ! We all started with a jug of sangria, bursting with fruit, very refreshing. Had 8 dishes and all were obviously home made , authentic and tasty. Would go just for the croquettes and the chorizo in red wine . Will definitely be going again, hopefully very soon A very special little place

Good place for a light lunch, reasonably priced and a varied menu. Our sandwiches ( cheese and pickle and fish finger wrap) were fresh and appetising with generous fillings and nicely presented with salad, coleslaw and crisps. Service was prompt and friendly.

We popped into this beautiful cafe for breakfast and it was well worth it. We had Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale, wow they were delicious! Everyone was really friendly and it was a great atmosphere with fab music being played. We came away with some of their cheesecake and it was one of the best I've tasted. Superb all round! I'm looking forward to trying out their Tapas Evening.

Went to The Fig Tree this afternoon for the first time as I don't live nearby. I had an 'oat milk coffee with crumpets and both were really delicious. However it was the whole 'vibe' of the place that made me want to linger and stay longer right up until closing time. The lovely décor with wooden tables, sort of Mediterranean feel and then the relaxing music just took the whole experience to an 'uber-chilled' level. I'll definitely go back and would highly recommend as it was such a relaxing environment -so good

A friend treated me to a large breakfast for my birthday. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was very good quality especially the sausages and eggs. I would go again.

Visited today with friends for lunch, what a lovely chilled place , great decor and Mediterranean music. We all started with hummus and olives which were lovely. Two of us had a halummi salad and one of us had the eggs royale ( she said it was the best she had ever had) Didn’t realise licensed at first, great surprise so all had a G&T Excellent taste , value and service

Well we had not been in this cafe for a couple of years and we were very disappointed, The staff were lovely and pleasant, but the food was very disappointing, My husband ordered smoked salmon bread eggs hollandaise sauce, two bites and it was gone, it needed at least another slice of bread, mine was a tuna panini, was so disappointed it was a very small portion, you used to get good value for money and large portions, so not a good experience.

Just eaten there today, food was really tasty whilst being gluten free. I highly recommend this cafe

We visited today whilst on East Lancs train trip. Friendly staff, gorgeous, tasty food and very reasonable. We ate salad, bake potato, soup and sandwiches. Hot chocolate and milkshakes good too. All were presented well and also tasted good. Highly recommended.

Have visited this little place quite often and usually find it very cosy and staff pleasant. However today at 3:30pm I came in for a just a coffee, to be told they were closed; the board outside said 4pm. There was just one coupje inside. Reading other reviews I see I am not the only one who has experienced this. Perhaps the board needs to be amended to reflect the actual times of service

I visited here at the weekend to catch up with a friend, having never been before we weren’t sure what to expect! However, we were both thrilled with the service we received and the delicious food we ate. There was plenty of lunchtime choices on the menu aswel as a specials board, i opted for a tuna panini which was perfect. There was an abundance of cakes/desserts to choose from- i can highly recommend the white chocolate millionaires shortbread. To add to our delight the prices were very reasonable-definitely somewhere I’ll be visiting again!!!

Lovely fig tree usually soup and a sandwich lunch for me after shopping lovely staff . So close to all the shops, really handy for me.

Love this cafe its warm welcoming the staff are friendly and the service us spot on..I hadnt been in for over a year and they still remembered me and how I like my poached eggs . which are perfect fantastic food highly reccomend.

My in Law's always visit The Fig Tree and I sometimes meet them for lunch. The food is always delicious. Plenty on the menu, something for everyone. It's very well priced. Service is excellent.

First time to Rawtenstall and lunch started with a warm welcome at 'The Fig Tree'. A really good menu for a street-side cafe and the Item that took my fancy was 'Warm goat's cheese salad'. I was amazed at the attractiveness of the dish and the generous portion of goat's cheese drizzled with balsamic vinegar and a side of coleslaw. See picture.

This place is physically small with as many tables as is possible to cram in. The menu was very varied with numerous unexpected choices. The coffee was good. The soup was excellent. It seems to be quite a meeting lace for friends. My only problem was the lack of parking. We had a nice lunch here. Prices were fair and the food was enjoyable. Service was good.

After a few previous favourable visits, I entered at 3 05pm on a Saturday. The notice at the entrance indicated that the establishment closed at 4pm. Ample time I would have thought to be served. A member of staff was undertaking sweeping up in the presence of other customers (not particularly professional in any event). I sat down at a table and waited. Since no -one came to me, I went to the counter and asked if I should order there. I was told that I could if I wanted. But when I ordered some food, I was quickly told that food stopped at 3pm. I suggested that the notice on the door ought to reflect that fact. The attitude of the member of staff was dismissive . I left without ordering with the impression that customers were a nuisance at that time of day and that the staff's own lives took precedence over customer service.

I frequently visit this cafe with friends and it’s always a pleasure. The food ticks all the boxes and is good value. The staff are very pleasant. All in all I can thoroughly recommend The Fig Tree whether you go for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake.

The soup of the day is sometimes vegan but if it isn't then they're very accommodating, which is refreshing and I appreciate the effort when most places say, "We do chips."

Sadly the exterior of this establishment does nothing to inspire confidence. Looking in from the outside,the eye is drawn to the very standard chairs that might occupy an ordinary "caf". That is a pity since venturing inside is a different experience. It took a recommendation for me to do so in the first place. A light airy and pleasant small restaurant serving snack type food (sandwiches/ pannini's etc). Clean tidy and pleasant service. A welcome addition to Rawtenstall

La señorita que me atendio me aseguraron que ella pan sin gluten y pasteles y otras cosas que podía comer. I had been meaning to pop in here for a while and eventually got around to it. It is a typical small high street coffee shop but the decor is subdued and welcoming. The service was excellent and very friendly. When my coffee arrived it was obvious that some time had been taken over it as it had a lovely swirl effect in the foam. I had a panini which was excellent . I shall certainly be returning to this establishment.

My husband and I came here for a wander and happened to find the fig tree on the high street, the food was delicious I had soup and a sandwich which was really tasty, the coffee and milkshakes were equally as lovely too! The staff were lovely and really friendly. Will definitely be returning!

I popped in for a quick lunch and had a lovely pulled pork pannini with salad and crisps, I enjoyed every bite! The staff were friendly, and the café was busy (on a Tuesday lunchtime) with a nice atmosphere. I'll definitely be back - the cakes and biscuits looked amazing, but I didn't have time to sample them!

The food is very good in pleasant surroundings. The menu is fairly limited but enough choice for light bites etc. Recommend cajun wraps and paninis with a hot chocolate according to my critic children , they visit regularly with their grandma! !!!Resonably priced for this style.

We were just looking for a lightish lunch. When we first looked it was full. We looked elsewhere but nothing inspired in the limited choice in the town. We returned to find there were a couple of free tables. I had a jacket potato with prawns, salad garnish and coleslaw. The filing was generous and tasty. My wife had a bacon, brie and cranberry panina, again generous a filling and she advised it was very tasty. I was tempted by the lemon meringue pie and certainly wasn't disappointed by the pie or the accompanying ice cream. Excellent food, pleasant surroundings, very good service and value.

Our first choice on a Saturday lunchtime at the top of town was way too busy while the second choice was 'closed for a party'. Fig Tree was next and as they say it was 'third time lucky' for us and them.This is a small place but has a great atmosphere. Good menu with specials board. Prices are very reasonable. Food is fantastic. I chose brie and mushroom chiabatta while my wife a goats cheese salad. Both excellent although the crisps on the side were a little nineties - just a thought. Coffee has a real kick and will really wake up. Definitely would recommend.

Such a quaint little tea room with the most friendly staff to make you feel welcome and relaxed. Been here a few times and would easily choose to spend money here rather than at any other chain coffee establishment! The food is delicious and we have tried new things each time we have visited :) I would would highly recommend you visit here!

Had lunch at The Fig tree today, the food was lovely but it was only 1.15 and the first three things we requested they did not have including prawn sandwiches, tuna sandwiches and they had no soup left. But what we had was lovely and the girls were run off their feet. Looks like more staff needed and they need to pop to asda for some tuna.

Upon one of our many visits to Rawtenstall, we discovered this beautiful little cafe, and all of it's little charms.The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The food that we had was simply amazing, and of very good value. The cakes on display looked so naughty too.The cafe has a traditional feel to it, serving Fentiman's drinks, and offering a lovely atmosphere. We would highly recommend The Fig Tree to anyone in the area, looking to have a nice little lunch.

I live in rawtenstall and although I'm not a regular visitor here, I really enjoyed lunch at the fig tree today. Staff friendly and positive, menu a bit limited but the food and drink are very good. Lovely selection of cakes as well.

The food & drinks are alright but it isnt open early enough in the morning if I want an early coffee or breakfast before shopping or getting a manicure i.e. Before 9-00am. Also a bit more expensive than other coffee shops in the area.

Great Little Cafe on Bank Street. We love to sit in the Window and watch the world and his dog go by. We always have a coffee and either cake or toasted teacakes (so cannot comment on food), Followed by a cup of tea.

The fig tree has a lovely atmosphere with its decorations, background music and it feels cosy. The waitresses were quick and friendly with our orders. Their teas are served in quaint tea pots. I ordered an 'Aphrodite' feta wrap, which I can't fault for its presentation. I wasn't too keen on the feta cheese, I will probably ask for another sort next time. I definitely recommend this café, with it's fresh food, friendly service and its relaxing feel.

After having our first visit at The Fig Tree about 5 weeks ago it has now become a Saturday tradition that myself and three others go here for lunch after our morning gym session. With polite service from staff that remember your face and ask you things that show they remember you it is always our choice as the food they serve is always brilliant too. There is a variety of options (and if you're a bit fussy they're more than happy to make amendments to suit you) as well as offering a different home made soup each week with good, quiet music playing in the back ground. I'd definitely recommend this cafe to anyone and intend to keep visiting it myself.

After a visit to Bury needed to find somewhere to stop for lunch on the way home. A Google search for cafés near Rawtenstall brought up this place.This place is small but very pleasant and friendly. Drinks are really good value and the coffee especially is very good quality.Great sandwiches with decent side salad and very nice cakes too.Will definitely be coming back.

The place is just so warm and welcoming, the staff are always lovely without being over bearing. The poached eggs here are always done "just right" the vanilla latte's are delicious, the freshly made daily soups are FAB. I just love it well done Fig Tree!!

Small and intimate cafe. Plenty of spaces when I went in on a Saturday Lunchtime. Staff were very friendly and were very accommodating, giving a genuine feel that you were welcome. Waitress took our order at our table. The drinks, then food arrived in a timely fashion. Had a hot panini, which included salad coleslaw and warn crisps. It was well made, tasted nice and was presented very nicely. Good value for money also. If I have one tiny criticism, it would be the menu selections could be a little more varied. The hot sandwiches etc mostly had cheese in them, I think only one didn't have some kind of cheese. The cold sandwiches however did have a more varied selection. A lovely lunch, a nice experience and I will go again.

Three of us had lunch here last week after a trip on the East Lancs Railway: first-class home-made soup, perfectly made sandwiches and home-made cakes - and a surprisingly low bill. Very friendly & efficient service (and sparkling clean wc, by the way).

Visiting rawtenstall for a few hours and saw this cafe. Had tea and a sandwich and my husband the soup and a scone. The staff were really friendly. The food lovely. Would recommend this tiny cafe if you are visiting rawtenstall. Would go again x

This café is located on the lovely cobbled street and is very pretty, warm and welcoming. The coffee is excellent and for those with a sweet tooth try the raspberry and vanilla cheesecake with fresh poring cream, FABULOUS.The staff are very attentive and friendly, and for those "like me" who like to find a nice clean loo, you wont be disappointed, very clean and nicely decorated.

It's funny how some places are right on your doorstep but go Un-noticed. Popped in here because my daughter (3yrs) needed the toilet and we stayed for coffee and cake. Well I could have stayed all day and just watched the world go by. It was lovely, everything about it, coffee, cakes, juice, staff, just everything was right. Defo going back and might even take the wife!

Have called in here a few times now and always found the food and coffee first class. Only downside is that the tables could be cleaned a bit quicker.

I stopped in here for lunch on a visit to Rawtenstall. I was impressed with this cafe. The food is above average in my opinion with most things homemade. The quiche was gorgeous and I think a place which has home made coleslaw is a sign of an owner that cares about food. I think the food is value for money. I loved the teapots that the tea is served in and the lovely wooden tables.The service was friendly and efficient. I will hopefully return soon.

Have been here quite a bit. food is good but for meals pricey compared to others. The soup is very good. Sadly have found the service is a bit hit and miss and having to wave to get attention at times despite being a small place. This aspect could be better with more friendlier attentiveness both when ordering and paying. My friend had a leaky teapot and it seemed very diffcult just to get it simply replaced which made us all feel uncomfortable.Food good, service needs to be improved as complacancy in this area would stop me coming back.

My friend and myself visit this cafe every 3 - 4 weeks for a chat and catch-up. It is a lovely cafe, very clean and the food is excellent. My friend has to have gluten free products and they are very helpful with this, offering gluten free bread and cakes. It soon gets full especially at lunch times which just goes to show how popular it is.

We find it difficult to eat out as my partner has a dissibility which makes it hard for him to eat, however, we often ate at the Fig Tree on the first year it opened; explaining his disability and asking if they could be kind enough to accomodate us. It is a difficult condition to understand. At first this was fine, but as time went on they seemed more and more dispondant, acting as if we were just being awkward customers? For anyone who has a disability, dissorder or intolerance to certain foods, they feel like they're being an inconvenience anyway, without the staff adding to it.The final time we went, my partner ordered something and i asked, as always, if it was possible to to add extra 'bean juice' to the meal to make it edible. They agreed and we sat to wait for our order. When it came, there was not enough juice added for my partner to be able to eat it, (which happens often, so it was no problem for us to ask again if a little more could be added) When i did, i was looked at in such a way i felt as if i was being a problem customer. I sat down and the waitress came along with a tiny glass ketchup dish and heavily threw it onto the table with a loud 'there you go' as she walked away. When i picked it up, the bean juice was stone cold!! Why would we want to place cold juice on a hot meal?? I politely went back to the counter (feeling very embarrassed that such an episode was made out of us) perfusely apologising, explaining that we would need a little more than what the had given us and could they please warm it up. I was then faced with an abrupt, and loud; 'i already put plenty on for you to begin with' by the manager as she was serving someone else. This was clearly not the case, however, if we had been told at the beginning that this extra care could not be offered today, we would have ordered the soup and been happy with that. This was not offered. No 'im sorry, we've run out of juice, can i offer you anything else?'. Instead she followed with; 'i cant give you any more juice, we dont have any more beans left anyway' and with that she walked off into the kitchen.Shocked and embarrassed at the stares from all the other customers who now knew our business, We left feeling humiliated and upset.This cafe had potential; nice decor and atmosphere. It seemed to start well, but over time it seems the management and staff are all lacking in that personal touch and customer care which is imperative when dealing with the local community. I am very sorry to say that We will not be going to eat in this cafe again, nor would i recommend it to anyone else either living in the valley, or coming to visit.
