Cracking place and the food is homemade delicious brilliant atmosphere

Great little pub with good food, staff and the locals are all lovely.

I like this style of food and wish there was more of it in Rossendale. good home cooked pub food, fresh with no frills, a really good choice on the menu, keep doing what ye doing I say.

Hidden gem in rossendale we had a last minute date night and decided to try this little pub.amazing food and service ,the staff was so welcoming and we will definitely be returning .food is amazing and the prices more than reasonable considering the epic portion you get .again the staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful ,if you want a really nice meal and atmosphere definitely give this place a visit . A hidden gem amongst the hills

Like independent pubs used to be, cosy, welcoming, great service, huge portions of wholesome pub grub and very reasonably priced. We had 4 drinks and two large main courses: burger and chips, lamb chops and chips for under £40. Great job guys 👏

Proper home cooked food in a warm & welcoming environment. Cosy open fire alongside art work by local artists, leaves a satisfying taste on the palate that rivals the variety of beers on offer.

First visit for many years. A very friendly welcome from the staff and you certainly couldn’t complain about portion size. 😊

4 brilliant meals , local quality steak , home made chips and superb cheese pie . Good drinks range including very nice ale.. ridiculously good value in a friendly clean local pub . The prices are like stepping back a decade . 100% happy

I booked a table for my family of 9 to eat here whilst in the area visiting family. We were made to feel very welcome and the home cooked meals were delicious, full of flavour and hearty. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in for a quick pint after a long day of walking. The atmosphere was nice and cosy, very welcoming, loads of local art work around the pub for sale too, which is a fantastic way of supporting local artists, very good prices on drinks, we didn't eat, but those who where all looked to be enjoying it, Vegan options available too. Will definitely be back here at some point

Popped in for a quick pint last Saturday afternoon whilst on holiday nearby. It was very busy but I got served quickly and had the best pint of mild I've ever had (as no Guinness on tap). In fact it was so good I ordered another ! Top pub.

Amazing food at great value prices

We were staying at the local Rossendale Camping site and decided to have a walk around the area. We found this pub and called in for a drink and to rest our legs. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, greeting and allowing our dog inside. The food was alright and they were happy to adapt a main meal of Calamari into a starter for us. Will definitely call in again on our next visit to Rossendale.

Despite some bad reviews, we came in after a walk to Peel Monument, had a lovely cheese & onion pie, beer (and prices) were great and the atmosphere was lively. Knew we were amongst the locals but no dramas.

Called in on the off chance on a Saturday afternoon . Had a delicious steak pie and my wife had baked potato with chilli and extra cheese. We both really enjoyed, and was very reasonably priced. Would eat there again.

Had several good meals here, worth every penny spent ,always welcoming warm reception plus they allow the dogs in as a bonus 😀

I would not recommend this place at all. I went in with my family. The atmosphere was full of the locals acting like yobs swearing. Even though they looked like they were in their fifties. The bar staff were rude. The service was terrible. I stood at the bar and was ignored until they were ready to serve me. The place smelled dirty and our feet were sticking to the carpet. We should have left then. Our food arrived eventually. It was cold and unappetising. Member of staff told but they weren’t interested.

Great menu choice with something for everyone. I had the veggie enchiladas and they were great. Seems like a lovely family run business as there was a child serving desserts to one table which was really lovely to see. I’ll definitely be back to this little local pub.

I spent a cosy night B&B’ing here after a long day out dog walking. Staff were welcoming and friendly, I never felt alone with plenty of punters in the bar chatting away. The portion sizes are huge, exactly what you want after getting the mileage in, such good value and really tasty food. Really warm room and comfy bed.

Went in with our 3 children had roast dinner. Girl that served us was ever so nice even got a colouring book for my daughter bless her. Locals were very accommodating and told us places to visit during our stay. Food was tasty and unbelievably my wife left a tip haha this is a rarity.

What a dump! We were staying locally at holiday accommodation and this was recommended as part of a country walk. So I innocently took my 5 year old for a meal on our first night as a ‘treat’. On a Sunday night all we got was a huge group of ocals downing shots, a blaring jukebox playing 90s rubbish so loud we couldn’t talk, some crazy drunken dancing in front of our table and a fight outside the front of the pub (another was brewing inside), with the f word banded about many times in front of my daughter, The local drunken 60+ woman who’d graced us with an embarrassing rendition of Meatllaf earlier in front of our table remarked ‘what do you f*^^^in expect in a country pub’. Ha! I’ve been to many country pubs in my time love, don’t flatter yourself, this is a rough locals drinking pub. My daughter came away with me shaken and disappointed - it ruined our first night and I can’t believe I exposed her to that. I haven’t been in a pub this rough since my early 20s when I knew no better - but at least I did that without children in tow!

First time yesterday I have been to this pub. Had an amazing time, warm and friendly staff, gorgeous food. Definitely going back.

Came to stay over night late August time. The staff were lovely and friendly, felt more like a friends home than a B&B (in a good way). The room was a big size for 2 of us and the food was lovely! Would definitely recommend!

This is our lovely local. During these times there's so much to miss with the restrictions and coming to the Hargreaves is one of the things we miss most. We love spending time with the people in there, its like a family particularly Sandra and her staff who could not make you feel more welcome! Cheers has nothing on this place! We can't wait to get back in there but for now the takeaway meals are doing the trick !

Gone down hill very poor food, service painfully slow cold plates, cold food, I think they need to get some better kitchen staff

I booked a table for 6pm still sath Here at 7pm still no starter 3 young lads walking around the place with no masks on locals say they do it all the time, hurray 7.15pm cheese garlic has arrived 4 pieces sloppy on a freezing co ld plate, the place is very noisy language a little course, waiting for main course who knows how long we will wait19.30 mains arrived cold plates burnt egg frozen chips, mushrooms stone cold in a cold dish, I sent my meal back won't be calling back any time soon, what a shame the last 2 times we eat here it was good, can't believe how much a pub can go down hill in a few months, it felt like new poor owners had taken over, stay away until things improve. SAD SAD

Waited nearly 3 hours for food with random excuses about the delay. Eventually discovered there had been an accident in kitchen but very very bad management of the situation left us with little sympathy for the manager (I do hope your staff member is OK now). When it finally arrived (dribs and drabs) the food was either so over cooked it was inedible or undercooked to point of looking raw. See photo of cumberland sausage and egg - sausage was only just warm but fried egg looks like it was on the go for 3 hours. Sorry for our host who we know would not have booked a terrible place on purpose. We know places can have a bad night but the whole night was ruined - a bad situation made worse by bad management of it. No apologies, no table service for drinks....had to make a diet coke last 3 hours as no-one came to take orders and we couldn't get bar service.

Nice country pub, staff friendly. Me and hubby had Hargreaves burger massive and tasty. Mother had chicken and mushrooms and daughter lasagna both cleared there plates said it was nice. Reasonable prices

Ordered a roast dinner, the beef was very tough but the lamb was lovely. Also we asked for the sausage and mash in the giant Yorkshire and it came with no mash and lots of cauliflower cheese all over which I don’t like & didn’t order so ruined my meal. The people next to us were also eating and the kitchen staff put four hole potatoes on their table and said “there’s your potatoes” obviously a personal joke but I didn’t receive my mash which was quite strange as they obviously had potatoes. Staff were rude, wouldn’t recommend.

Smashing little place. Really popular with the locals. Always a good sign. Portions of food - huge!. This what remains of my ',small' fish and chips.

The Hargreaves Arms is a lovely country pub that serves good food. The decor is clean and traditional and in winter they have a lovely open fire. The menu has a good selection to choose from and the food is really good quality and homemade. There is a specials board in the main room offering a selection of starters and mains that change on a regular basis. Well worth a visit if you enjoy good quality food in a welcoming environment.

Enjoyed the meal,had 6oz Rowans burger,except it was'nt a Rowans burger,the butcher only supplies the Cumberland sausage,other than that i was very happy with the food,will certainly go again

We went for Sunday lunch never been for many years. Bar staff friendly and helpful. I had lasagne very tasty and filling. Roast dinner was good and burger a doorstopper lol. Fantastic potions very good value for money. Drink not badly priced. Very much recommended.

Food finished before we got there so a mistake on our part but beer ok so didn't stay that long.

Very pleasant experience staff were friendly we had Sunday roast it was just ok the lamb was lovely everything else was cooked from frozen I would like to go again and try something else maybe the rib eye stake

We've eaten here twice now, yesterday and today. Good local pub, dog friendly, not a huge range of real beers but the three on offer were well kept, I'm particularly fond of the Copper Dragon,. The home made broccoli and Stilton soup was excellent, to quote my wife "Am I allowed to say it's better than yours?" - No, no you aren't! I recommend the Rag Pudding if you haven't already tried it and my wife's Chicken New Yorker was ginormous. All in all, well worth a visit if you're in the area.

We come and eat at the Hargreaves on a regular basis. The pub is a proper traditional pub with both locals and people coming to eat and all are made welcome. The menu is varied and there are usually a few specials. We often have a a ribeye steak that is cooked just how we want it. If you want good traditional food with prompt service then this is the place. Add the traditional open fire and chill! the

Bar staff totally uninterested, broken mirror in the toilets , beer needed topping up but bar staff went missing

Lovely pub, great food and plenty of it at a very reasonable price. Really friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.

I came here with my boyfriend who lives down the road for the first time ever. Bar staff were pleasant, but the cook was even more so...she was lovely and the food I would go as far to say, the best steak and sauce I have ever eaten in my life, cooked to perfection and all tasted amazing. We will be returning regularly for our tea. Love love love it

This isn’t gastro-pub food and nor does it need to be. It’s home cooked honest pub food with good portion sizes at a really good price point. It makes this place a no-brainer for a cheap meal out. It will never win awards for interior decor or a Michelin star for the food but when you want a hearty pie or a big Sunday dinner for under £10 a head this is a great choice.

Epic steak, great beer, just what you want when visiting a local pub, a great recommendation for anyone staying in the vicinity, no doubt we'll be back when we're next in the vicinity 👍🏻

My husband and I visit once a week for evening meal,s when possible due to staggered shift work, we are always greeted with pleasant and happy staff here. The food is great and if you want to add or change an ingredient in your choice of food, the chef,s are totally respective and will ensure you leave satisfied and happy, oh! Absolutely fantastic pub, real ales, food to die for!! The steak and ale pie is a must have!! All staff friendly and welcoming, giving advice on the local area, moved here recently from Manchester and can't recommend the Hargreaves enough!!

Great food, reasonably priced, excellent choice of beers including real ales. Great service, and friendly welcoming staff. Definitely worth a visit, if you're looking for somewhere new to try out.
