The best restaurants serving British food in North East

We used to come here a few years ago. We stopped for no particular reason, but my partner had noticed it was under new management/owners since we were there last. We decided to return and it was a really good experience. Food was up there, but staff made the difference, happy to help with a nice friendly attitude.

A very friendly place, staff very helpful and easy to talk to, food lovely I had Weardale Chicken,and it was delicious , lots of choice on the menu will go again and recommend to family and friends

Any connoisseur of the burger needs to try the Duke burger. Absolutely out of this world, as was the haddock. Prompt friendly service as well. Definitely worth a visit 🤗

Wonderful place, great staff , nothing too much. My son held wedding there. Highly recommend and food was great and plentiful. Great day had by all.

We had an excellent dinner for two. The menu choice was impressive. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Service was polite and attentive. Highly recommended!

On the day the service was good, however the booking process and the service in advance of attending was incredibly poor.

My Auntie and myself visited here today (15/05/25) the food was really good and the service was really good. Wendy was very friendly and helpful the staff are all so happy I would certainly recommend this pub to friends and family

The Vane Arms is now doing breakfasts - and what a treat is was. We had the small breakfast which had everything you could want on a full English. The food was excellent quality, all cooked nicely, served hot and well presented. You can even specify how you want your eggs (we opted for fried). Best breakfast we have had in ages. Service was excellent too. This wasn’t our first visit and it won’t be our last.
