Ebony Champagne Bar in County Durham

Wonderful place, great staff , nothing too much. My son held wedding there. Highly recommend and food was great and plentiful. Great day had by all.

Had the best time here, the bottomless brunch is so worth the money and offers a range of unreal cocktails and delicious food! The Cham 69 is a must try! All staff were so lovely and Jhan in particular made our experience a 10/10, will 100% be back and would recommend to all.

I came for bottomless brunch and jhane was amazing she was so attentive and lovely she made the experience so amazing and I would say it’s personally the best bottomless brunch in the north east, the food was lovely it was tapas, it is really good for couples and in a group really good options for food too and the cocktails were gorgeous the variety was just great , but the staff made it even better definitely going to be coming back

Sad face, came for a birthday cocktail, signs outside say 2 different things, one 6pm close and one 8pm close, either way 17.40 is before, but all closed up!

We visited the champagne bar last Saturday for an early birthday day out . We booked for the bottomless brunch . We were unsure about the price as it was a little bit more expensive than other places but my gosh was it worth it. It’s probably been the nicest bottomless brunch I have tried and all 6 of us girls agreed. The drinks were amazing , cocktails were all made from scratch . The food was also delicious! I am a vegetarian and there was so much option. Special thankyou to Jhan for making us feel very looked after . She made sure we always had 2 drinks at the table and was lovely . She also assured us that our time did not start until we all had a drink and once we were done we could finish our drinks in the pod which was lovely so meant we didn’t have to rush . Thankyou so much , we had such a great time ♥️ We will definitely be returning and it was well worth the money 🫶🏻

We came for ‘ living the best brunch ‘ and what an amazing experience. We were asked if we wanted drinks constantly and we were so well looked after. The cocktails were such high quality and the food was first class.

We booked for a 21st for 6 people and when we arrived there was no table. I had even got a confimation of the booking the day before. They said there was no table. They said they cannot see the seats that are allocated on the booking system so it was not their fault! They tried to get us to leave. I explained it was a 21st and a table came up as we stood there. They refused it and instead they offered a freezing cold pod outide with no heating. It looked like it seated about 5. Then they offered the long bar with a wall in our face so we could only talk to the person next to us and face the decorated wall. They said if they are busy. You can get the bar with the decorated wall in your face and your group sat in a long line side by side. Or the unheated small outdoor pod This was decemeber. They believe they are entitled to do this. Be very careful.

Trató de reservar para Nochebuena, pero tenía un correo electrónico para aconsejar no hay disponibilidad. El email decía que estamos caminando - ins. Cuando llegamos "no estamos cerrados" fue el mensaje del hombre en la puerta. Él era muy disimulado, lo que se sumó a mi esposa molesta, especialmente cuando pasamos un par de veces a lo largo del día y hemos visto un montón de asientos vacíos. Mi esposa y yo hemos disfrutado de este establecimiento para muchas bebidas de Nochebuena en los últimos años. MUY DECEPCIONADO con la comunicación que recibimos.

A surprisingly decent place to come for a hot drink on an evening. Both the bouncers and bartenders were are very polite and friendly. The hot drinks are expensive but that is probably to be expected from a champagne bar - pity the tea wasn’t a better quality one though. Nice experience all in all, and it was nice to see other customers having a great experience too.

We had our works 2024 Christmas party in the conservatory - It was stunning inside, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was unbelievable. But the real star of the show are the staff - Molly, our event organiser, went above and beyond to help us pull the night off, she was present throughout the night, kept me in the loop and was extremely attentive. The bar staff Adam, Chris and Aleisha all went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, even with our ridiculous requests! I cannot recommend the Champagne enough, and I hope that my comments are shared with management as these staff are making the Champagne Bar proud.

Un montón de comida deliciosa. ¡Muerto por la muerte, pavo húmedo y asados de sobra! No podría fallar. Reservamos una mesa de 6 para el brunch sin fondo y WOW fue increíble. La comida estaba deliciosa, tenías la opción de dos tapas cada uno y o bien patatas fritas o patatas fritas. Los cócteles no fueron diluidos, fueron hechos por encargo. Con mucho, la mejor relación calidad-precio y brunch sin fondo en el que he estado. Reservamos directamente para otro. Si pudiera darle 11 sobre 10 lo haría.

My mam and I went yesterday (6th September) to celebrate my birthday with afternoon tea. Firstly, the afternoon tea was absolutely perfect, the best we’ve ever had the pleasure of eating! Everything was delicious and very filling! Secondly, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and caring, they really made me feel so special on my birthday, so thank you so much! One staff member in particular, sorry I never caught her name, she was in her mid-late 20s and had long black hair, she really made me feel like I was a VIP. The whole experience of ebony was 10/10. Thank you very much for making my birthday so perfect xxx

Fabulous night attending Jo Malone night. Staff as fabulous as ever. Cocktails and food gorgeous. Very interesting presentation from Jo Malone staff as well as gift box. Whole event was perfect.

Myself and a friend came for bottomless brunch on a Wednesday afternoon. It was pleasantly busy as we arrived and we were greeted by one of the owners and shown to our seats. We sat in the conservatory area which is just beautiful, especially when it’s a nice day and the roof is open! During the 1.5 hours, we could not have received better service - very friendly and so attentive, constantly checking everything was ok with us and reordering drinks! The food was amazing and the drinks plentiful. Honestly the best bottomless brunch place around, we will definitely be back!

The bar was impressive in its decor and comfortable seating. A great range of cocktails and other drinks. The staff were helpful, pleasant and smartly dressed, but were a bit thin on the ground. Really enjoyed our time here.

We attended a bottomless brunch at the Champagne bar and it was amazing! It was by far the best bottomless brunch that I have ever experienced. It was incredibly well organised which meant that it was excellent value for money. We all enjoyed excellent food, fabulous cocktails that kept on coming and fantastic service. We will definitely be returning!

Fabulous afternoon with friends at ebony champagne bar in Durham. Food great, tapas and unlimited cocktails at a very reasonable price. The staff were amazing so friendly and attentive. Already booked again for another occasion. Would highly recommend.

Booking the afternoon tea was easy and customer service was great on the phone. On arrival, we were seated straight away and a lovely lady gave us a cocktail menu and told us of the offers that were on. Our order was taken along with the menu. Our cocktails arrived and so did our afternoon tea. The cocktail I had although ice heavy was really nice. The savoury items on the afternoon tea were really well presented and of good quality ingredients ( too much mayonnaise though - everything had it on) The scone was nice, but the top layer was below average. A cupcake, a macaron and 2 chocolate truffles. Cupcakes although nice, I don’t really feel like they fit in an afternoon tea - more for parties. We never got asked if we wanted a hot drink which came with the afternoon tea. We had to chase staff down even though there was no one in. Service was appalling after the initial interaction. So it put a dampener on it. Been to a lot nicer places for afternoon tea and so I wouldn’t return unless I was part of a large group that specifically wanted to go there. Or might be good for a hen afternoon.

Beautiful little place, we had a little snack and because I mentioned im vegan they changed up the dips so i could share them all ... lovely touch and much appreciated.

What an amazing afternoon tea with prosecco, food was delicious, choice of sandwiches and warm quiche, that's before we started on the cream scones, red velvet cake, macaroons and chocolates, yes we did have to ask for a box to take some home. My friend arranged a baby shower here and this is the perfect venue. The atmosphere was great and the staff were brilliant. The deposit was a decent price and if you order the platters not only is the food lovely but there's also plenty of it.

Had afternoon tea today here . Absolutely amazing . The food was beautiful and all home made . The owner was so welcoming and the staff were so polite and very helpful. The cocktails are gorgeous and so moorish 😂🥂🥂🥂 I would definitely recommend to anyone there was a wide range of customers in from people obviously celebrating something special to people who had been shopping 🛍️ and called in for refreshments . Can’t wait till my next visit .

Have just had my daughters 18th birthday at the Champagne bar .. I can not thank Jhan Marcia and team for a truly wonderful day. They did everything for us from start to finish arranging the balloons to the cakes... the tables were set ready for Ellen to arrive .. The venue is truly outstanding along with the service from the moment you walk through the door.. I can not recommend the Champagne Bar enough. One of the few places in Durham that are able to treat people with disabilities with respect, fantastic atmosphere, the manager on shift was an angel I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough

We visited here between Christmas and New Year with a group of friends. We booked a table for 8 and enjoyed several bottles of Champagne, beers and cocktails. We ordered some platters of food to share. The whole experience was excellent. Two lovely ladies looked after us and were so friendly and attentive, constantly coming over to the table to make sure everything was ok. Food was excellent, couldn’t fault it. We had a great afternoon and can highly recommend.

What an amazing afternoon we had sharing board was amazing and lots of bubbles! We had an amazing time the staff so attentive especially the lady who owns it! The place has a fantastic atmosphere and loved it all. The only negative the toilets need a bit of tlc! Thanks for a fantastic afternoon! We will be back soon x

Hosted my sisters baby shower here recently and it was fabulous! We hired the conservatory area on a Saturday afternoon and it was gorgeous! Beautiful room and amazing service! Jhan and her fabulous team certainly have the bar spot on. It was an early celebration for my niece's birthday. We had a lovely afternoon tea, and lot's of cocktails and fizz. This is the place to be in Durham. We travelled from York, Retford and Howden and well worth it. We will be back 👍

Ambience & environment very nice. However, unfortunately the Moët Brut & Rose both warm - NOT chilled at all. Told the the staff, but only received a curtly sorry, which rather spoiled the evening . Coupled with the excruciatingly over loud music, where you had to raise your voice in conversation. Disappointed is an understatement.

Not one to leave negative reviews however attended here for a friends baby shower. In a sectioned off outdoor sort of area out the way of the main bar too. Appreciate it’s a champagne bar but if you’re gonna play the music to the level of nightclub noise on a Saturday afternoon then why accept a baby shower? It was so loud I cannot actually describe the stress. I’m a relatively young lass that doesn’t mind loud music etc but I genuinely felt like I was about to have a nervous breakdown, I had to go outside and stand in the rain for a break. They could have easily still had the music to a great volume for everyone to enjoy but it was far too loud to the point where people sat an inch away from each other couldn’t hear one another without screaming (and we’re all young). This was 3pm on a Saturday.

If you want to feel special and very spoilt then afternoon tea at the champagne bar is definitely the place to go - a beautiful selection of sandwiches, pastries, scones and cakes so wonderfully presented by the friendliest most attentive staff I've ever known. We have been before for drinks - champagne only but having seen a party of people eating afternoon tea we couldn't resist booking. We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary there and would definitely do it again. You need to starve yourself before going as it's enormous but they also provide boxes if you want to take it home. We stayed for almost 3 hours, eating through the tiers of food and no one hurried you along. The decor is classy and comfortable and views from the windows are lovely. An absolute jewel in the gorgeous city.

Always pop in here for a cocktail which are quite expensive but do like the Pina Colada. Unfortunately yesterday I left after standing at the bar for 10 mins, constantly getting ignored by all the bar staff who served other people who arrived after me. Very rude. Doubt I'll be back.

Whenever I visit Durham, I visit here. It is near my hotel, so an excellent location, and equally good if you want to stop here, but also explore other restaurants, bars and sites. The owners, management and staff are always friendly and welcoming, and make for a relaxing atmosphere, whether it is indoors, outdoors, or the conservatory. They also have their pod, which looks good fun for groups. It may not be the cheapest (but it is not ridiculous), but the service and atmosphere makes it. I personally have not had great few months, but my Durham visit has relaxed me a lot, between my hotel (Premier Inn, where I have written a separate review), and here, I have had good few days.

Great service, food & champagne. I booked the Pod for 6 of us at Ebony as part of my daughter's celebrations following her graduation ceremony. We had pre booked cheese & meat platters and they were beautifully served and delicious. Service from Adam was excellent and the pod was a fun setting. Would definitely recommend.

Really like it, the prices are on the high side but we don't mind. It is dog friendly also which is great for us.

There were 8 of us who visited today to celebrate a double birthday. Initially our table was inside but as it was such a fabulous sunny day we asked if there was a table outside. The owner jiggled a few tables and within 5 mins we were seated outside in the glorious sunshine. All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Will definitely return.

Fantastic service, staff were very kind and attentive even when the rest of the bar was busy. Sadly there was not a single vegan option on the menu so I missed out on afternoon tea and couldn't eat anything (even after contacting in advance) but it looked great!

Dropped in for a glass of champagne. The Moet Rose was served at prefect temperature. The deep fried slim prawns were excellent, all standing up in the little wire basket. A dipping sauce accompanied. Excellent all round and not too busy in late afternoon.

Ebony never disappoints can’t say how many times we have gone but every time it’s lovely again never disappoints food tasty never sure what to choose not over priced just love it ❤️❤️
