Excellent atmosphere if you like thinks old. This place dates back to 1690. Quiet location with good car parking. Good food. We had a salad and a pasta that went well together for sharing!

Been quite a few times now and tried different items for lunch from the menu, the jacket potatoes are gorgeous, service is always great,lovely lunch every time I'm visiting Gateshead. Great place to go !

Friendly staff and lovely home -cooked Sunday lunch. Chicken dinner is spot on...lovely meat and veg plus Yorkshire puds. Get plenty!! Laura and Julie are really nice laases. Keep up the good work!!

A lovely place to stop for a light snack or tea and cake. Good value, charming staff and exceptionally clean. Plus some lovely characters for people watching 🙂.

Esta granja es un cómodo paseo cruzando el Derwent a pie de nuestra casa. Hay un amplio aparcamiento si vas en coche, que evita el paseo cuesta arriba en coche! Hay un montón de interesantes esculturas de vidrio alrededor de la granja. Los salones de té son acogedoras y limpias, con actividades para niños. La comida es sencilla pero sabrosa. Normalmente tenemos el café y la tarta, pero he tenido sopa el pasado otoño.

Nice airy place, ideal for bands and being able to see from most angles, good staff. If i lived closer I would be in here every week.. Don't talk (or even whisper) during the bingo if you value your life.

Pleasant & interesting local roman site with a super viewing tower overlooking the site of the roman fort, at the moment the baths are closed for refurbishment so £1 discount is given on the entrance fee. The original baths are a little further across from the site where the previous ship inn public house was .. these were discovered underneath when demolished, nice museum & displays & the café food is very tasty offering hot meals & snacks also the staff are lovely .. very friendly.

Yo iba andando el Cleveland Way y había oído hablar de este lugar. Todo lo que he oído que era verdad. La cafetería funciona de 10:00 a 3:00 pm y es atendido por voluntarios del pueblo y la zona de los alrededores. Yo me comí un sándwich, un bollo y una taza de té en un precio más que razonable. Comidas ligeras disponibles. Los aseos estaban limpias así como todo el lugar. Si querías un libro de segunda mano o un souvenir del centro todo ello contribuye a los fondos de caridad. Had a great lunch in the Magpie club today. It was lunch with Santa. We had really good food and I loved the pink roast beef. The Santa experience was nice too. The service was also lovely it felt like lots of the servers were new to it. So I mention these things as a little more polish would help. Four examples; table was set for bread but no bread was served and we had to ask for ours after the starters were delivered. Other tables were then sorted as a consequence. Second, we ordered tap water for the table with our drinks order and had to ask again at main course (the server was most apologetic). Third the menu said garlic bread with cheese as a kids starter and we got garlic bread. I pointed it out and all garlic breads after that were then cheesy. We ordered a cheese course and it came without biscuits a knife or butter. These things didn’t spoil our experience in the slightest but if they were sorted then it would have been a much smoother experience. We will definitely be back as the food, ambience, service and experience were all good.
