Excellent atmosphere if you like thinks old. This place dates back to 1690. Quiet location with good car parking. Good food. We had a salad and a pasta that went well together for sharing!

Stayed over night with the intention to eat elsewhere but needed to dry out after a wet but wonderful walk, saw the menu and thought why not! Good decision! Service was prompt and efficient but still personable. Went for the fish and lamb. They listened carefully to my wife's dietary requirements, discussed these with the kitchen and then came back with a list of adjustments to fit her needs. Very pleasing. They are seeking to use local ingredients and we couldn't fault. Both fish and lambe were excellent. The vegetables retain red their freshness and vitality. All in all please we stopped!

First visit after lockdown and the Milbank Arms is open again and back to its fabulous best. With great food and impeccable service, it’s hard to fault this popular country inn. Totally dog friendly and set in some beautiful countryside with some lovely walks nearby. Highly recommended.

This newly redeveloped pub is very well appointed and sympathetically improved. Open fire at one end but can be a little cold at the other end (on the left as you walk in). Well kept real beers, perfectly dispensed. Meals probably a tad more expensive than usual pub fare but then the chef appears to try to offer something a little different. Criticisms would be that the vegetables are a bit underdone (a bit too much al dente - and that from a person that doesn't like overdone veg); those expecting their cottage pie to come with a nice crisp, brown potato topping will be disappointed - the one I ate was diced chunks of beef surrounded with what appeared to be Cadbury's Smash. Definition of a cottage or shepherd pie from Wikipedia: "Shepherd's pie or cottage pie is a meat pie with a crust or topping of mashed potato. The recipe has many variations, but the defining ingredients are minced red meat, cooked in a gravy or sauce". Have eaten there on a few occasions now - it's about time the menu was changed.

Spent the weekend at the Milbank Arms. Wonderful spot. Our food was delicious and many notches above typical pub food— grouse, lamb, salads, dessert— with seasonal local ingredients. The pub is cozy and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful with gorgeous wallpaper, comfiest beds, and modern luxe bathrooms. Highly recommend for a stop or stay whether living in or visiting the area.

We called at this pub last Wednesday afternoon to discover we were the only two in the bar - no wonder - the cost of a pint and a white wine was £9.40p The price list for the drinks was not prominently displayed and when I found it propped up I saw that wine was priced at £5.50. I queried this with the barman who stated that the price shown was for house wine. The wine we chose was onle a Pino Grigio. Felt ripped off.

Stayed on a Sunday evening with my wife and parents. The accommodation is of a very high standard, clean, comfortable and cosy.Front of house (Neil) was first class, good conversation , and couldn’t do enough to assist and ensure our stay was comfortable. Sunday lunch was good and breakfast at the coach house also absolute first class food, presentation and service. We really liked the Milbank Arms , and will return for sure with some friends hopefully sooner rather than later.

Following on from my poor review of Coghlans Restaurant across the road not for poor food but appalling customer service, The Millbank Arms is a hidden gem. After a rocky start to the evening across the road all the team at the pub, especially Jonathan made our evening one to remember. Everything from the welcome, attention to the diners experience and the food not a single fault could be found...... so well done Millbank. Jonathan made sure that our pre planned Birthday meal was put back on track in every way, a true asset to the business. On a side note the soup here was one of the best I've eaten. The steaks and lamb dish were also excellent.

Ate here as per of a work party. Poor service - took plates away before we’d all finished eating. Average fish and chips and the place was too hot! Open fire roaring away on a hot day really not necessary despite what Lady M may request. The place is tastefully decorated but the food and expectations didn’t match

We chose to go here for our anniversary dinner after calling in last week for a drink. Everything about this restaurant / pub is well thought out and beautifully executed; the interior design, the service, the food. The pub itself had been there for several hundred years but it has been completely refurbished to a very high standard and it is now somewhere very special but without prohibitive prices, so one can imagine going there quite often and not just once a year! We even got a peek at the bedrooms - they are gorgeous - I just wish I lived further away so we could have stayed overnight after our anniversary dinner! If you do want somewhere to stay in Teesdale this is the place, undoubtedly. Its quiet and friendly and beautiful.

Lovely bakers and coffee shop, Lattes were really good and the gluten free carrot cake was amazing. When you have coeliac you can’t always find somewhere that provides gluten free especially in small villages but I would definitely recommend Peggotty’s! We’ll be back.
