Had a great lunch in the Magpie club today. It was lunch with Santa. We had really good food and I loved the pink roast beef. The Santa experience was nice too. The service was also lovely it felt like lots of the servers were new to it. So I mention these things as a little more polish would help. Four examples; table was set for bread but no bread was served and we had to ask for ours after the starters were delivered. Other tables were then sorted as a consequence. Second, we ordered tap water for the table with our drinks order and had to ask again at main course (the server was most apologetic). Third the menu said garlic bread with cheese as a kids starter and we got garlic bread. I pointed it out and all garlic breads after that were then cheesy. We ordered a cheese course and it came without biscuits a knife or butter. These things didn’t spoil our experience in the slightest but if they were sorted then it would have been a much smoother experience. We will definitely be back as the food, ambience, service and experience were all good.

My wife and I had Sunday dinner here for the first time. Goes without saying a fantastic view of the pitch. Room and tables were set out very nicely. The staff from Joe at the reception in the room to the waitresses were excellent and extremely pleasant. The food was excellent. Would highly recommend a visit.

Six of us went for Sunday lunch, the food and service was very good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The rib eye beef and brisket were perfectly cooked and the portion were large. The starters were all very nice as were the sweets, again the portions were good. To top it all off we had a short tour conducted by Joe (I think) who was very knowledgable. We will all be making a return visit in the future.

Just had Sunday lunch with friends. Food was superb and excellent service. Good choice you could even have beef pink or well done which is a bonus. Deserts were to die for we had toffee and pecan pud with strawberry and vanilla custard. It’s a bit dearer than some places but worth the extra as a treat.

Another trip to the gourmet evening in the Magpie restaurant in St James Park. We have Been here many many times over the years. Service as usual was excellent, food fantastic, and wines to suit the various dishes were perfect. All this for £57.50 including the wine was great value for money. A must for all good food & wines lovers. The only thing I can fault was lack of atmosphere....not a bad thing, but smaller numbers this time had the venue lacking abit in atmosphere. May be just me, but my only very minor point to make. All told a great night out with friends who all enjoyed the evening. Will be booking again for the next Gourmet night.

Staff great as were the drinks but disappointed that, although they advertise free WiFi, this was actually no WiFi (although there used to be). Will not be coming back until this is rectified. Sorry :

Lovely little place we didn’t have any food but the pizzas did look amazing. There is also a range of games to play chess back gammon and books to read. We enjoyed and will be back.
