Great lunch today. Avo toast for me was delicious - lime and chilli with seeds made it very tasty. Companions wanted aranchini but they were sold out, so had soup and quiche instead. But then they brought 3 aranchini which were left…as a little extra. Apparently they were delicious but I didn’t get one!

The terrace is a lovely setting and there is a good choice of food and drink. We enjoyed the dishes that we had. However, they should list ingredients accurately on the menu. I ordered a Raspberry Cobbler cocktail. The ingredients were listed as Chambord, vodka, peach puree and lemon. I thought that the cocktail had a surprisingly bitter taste, but assumed that it had a lot of lemon juice in. I was also surprised that it seemed fizzy but again thought that perhaps lemonade had been added. After I had finished the drink, I felt my skin start to itch a little and I realised that the strong bitter taste must have been quinine and that tonic water had been added to the cocktail. I have a mild allergy to quinine - it causes skin irritation - and I would never have ordered this cocktail if I had known it contained it. I double checked the menu - tonic water definitely not listed as an ingredient. I spoke to a member of staff who casually acknowledged that tonic water was an ingredient in the cocktail but not listed on the menu. You know, this is really not acceptable. My allergy is not severe, but some people could have reacted really badly to this. I was offered "a scone" but not a refund of the cocktail and I really just wanted to leave and get some fresh air. Now that I have reflected on this experience, I thought it was really important to bring it to the attention of the restaurant and to potential customers in the hope that the management will act on this and list ingredients in their products precisely and accurately on their menus.

My wife is coeliac and the chef prepared alternatives which was above and beyond what we expected. This made my wife's afternoon as we could sit and enjoy similar food together which is usually not the case, other coeliacs will understand how this is important. Lovely, reasonably priced food. We both had sandwiches and they were really delicious and generously sized. The side salad was a wonderful surprise - rocket, pea shoots and pickled red onion - a bit of a step up from the usual limp lettuce and I really enjoyed it! Coffees also really good. We sat on the outside covered balcony which was warm with views of the city. Service was quick and efficient, staff pleasant and friendly.

Everything was freshly, and we left feeling satisfied with very happy tummies 🥰 This is the vegetarian sandwich special (roast squash, feta, tomato pesto and rocket) with my chosen daily salad. It’s a Cafe upstairs within an art gallery which is a really nice space that was fun to look around, with some unique pieces of work. aesthetic looking food which was freshly made with good ingredients, very flavourful with Gluten Free and Vegan options available, plus they offer an afternoon tea as well. However the actual cafe lacked aesthetic and decor, the space was stark and it was giving old people corner cafe, the look of food didn’t match its venue and all the views were of old run down buildings. This was highly disappointing as I wanted to go somewhere that was nice for a special occasion and heard a lot of good things bout this place, but the actual cafe space was underwhelming and crummy. Needs major interior decoration! To conclude; nice food, nice gallery, poor cafe venue.

Pleasant surroundings and sometimes good food - bit of a mixed bag. The three salads on offer were all made from cooked vegetables, none the salads were raw. My salad plate was unusually spicy for a Mediterranean style dish (runny nose hot), which didn't really work for me. The pear frangipane was far too dense but my partner's quiche and carrot cake were very good. Presentation was quite good. Disappointed with the half-hearted tea offer (low quality default tea bags and what is described on the menu as speciality loose tea is actually in pyramid tea bags and a very limited selection of flavoured teas). Overall not a bad place to hang out and eat, but it didn't live up to my expectations based on other reviews.

We'd booked a table but still had to wait in queue to be seated which was a bit bizarre .... however, once seated, the menu was good and we chose a cocktail and large salad plate. Both were very very good. However, I just can't get my head round what this is supposed to be. It's like a European cafeteria. You have to queue to order food and drinks, which is then delivered to table. And no option to open a tab for future drinks / cake / coffee. The whole process is a bit slapdash and the space is lacking atmosphere but I couldn't fault the quality of food and drinks.

Having recently eaten here, I want to give an honest review. We visited about 10:30 Saturday morning, more free tables than those taken. Having ordered, we waited quite some time for the wrong order to be brought out. We pointed out that one of the dishes was wrong and it was taken away. About 5 minutes later the same dish was returned to the table and again we explained it was wrong. The waitress took it away leaving the two remaining dishes going cold and no explanation. My partner went to the till to ask what was going on whilst at the same time the manager (we think) came over and told us the the waitress was deaf and he would sort it out. About five minutes later he returns with the card machine (and no food) to correct the bill and it then takes at least fifteen minutes for a simple couple of poached eggs to be brought out by which time the other two meals had been slowly eaten in the hope we could eat together but whilst (Luke warm in the firs place) food was now cold. What was more frustrating than the lack of service and abrupt manner of the manager was that whilst we were waiting for a simple dish to come out, others were being brought to other tables and clearly our replacement dish was just put into the system and came out when they got around to it. A very expensive, Luke warm / cold meal where we ate separately, received slow and inattentive service. We will not be returning. No attempt to make any meaningful apology or take all the dishes away and bring back what we had originally ordered at the same time and warm.

This is a gorgeous cafe in a wonderful commercial art gallery. I had the daftest bacon and eggs I’ve ever had though. Two beautifully poached eggs and three slices of hard bacon arrived in a large bowl on top of two unbuttered slices of bread. So I set to work. The first job was to get the lovely poached eggs off the toast without breaking them - so I could butter the toast. I slid the pieces of bacon to one side and managed to get the eggs off. Then I separated the two slices of toast for buttering. One of the slices of bacon jumped off the plate onto the table. With no where to put the bacon so I could butter the toast I got a clean napkin and put the bacon on there. I buttered the toast and placed the poached eggs on top then retrieved the bacon. Then came the hard work of cutting through the overly thick sour dough. This proved impossible although with a steak knife and lots of spare time I could have managed it. Tackling the food without anything flying off the bowl was tricky. It was a massive case of form over function and one of the daftest meals I’ve eaten. This is a gorgeous place though. Do go. Just don’t get the bacon and eggs on sourdough. Thanks.

Visited many many times over the years, amazing building, venue, art and cafe, however, today was a bit of a shambles and unpleasant experience from start to finish, shame as it was a birthday breakfast treat for a friend. I think today may link to the management/leadership, or lack of it. No booking system as such, apart from the day before which I learnt today, assistant manager, front of house, unfriendly, unhelpful, waited ages to get menus, get served drinks, and eventually had to ask, so got drinks and food order in, then came all at once, couldn’t get another drink or cake order in, so decided to leave, paying the bill was a further challenge, no one seemed to know what on earth was going on, to be honest just felt like walking out. Clearly understaffed, need some system in place and better management, front of house. I think I’ll leave it for a while. Shame as food is great.

If you actually want to be seated, don’t bother. Came as it feels like I’ve tried every other brunch spot in Newcastle. Was looking for a quick in-and-out kind of a situation, which the spot looked perfect for. The cafe looked more like a John Lewis style eatery, nothing fancy so expected speedy service. Got nothing in the likes of it. Waited by the humongous “wait to be seated sign” with no luck. The staff looked at us plenty of times but decided putting orders in the till was of higher priority than sitting down waiting customers. Please note that the place was half empty at the time of our arrival and I’ve seen about 5 members of staff, none of which seem to know what customer service is. Gave up, went to Garage instead. Cheaper, quicker and nicer setting!

When we arrived we wait for 15 minutes at the ‘wait to be seated’ sign just outside the cafe. Unfortunately we never managed to get seated. I went inside to talk to the third member of staff who had already looked at us several times and asked if we could have a table, I could see tables free at this point. He immediately cut me off and responded with ‘wait by the sign and we’ll collect you when we are ready.’ Waited for another 10 minutes and no one came so we left. We ended up at another site literally two minutes from here and received excellent service and food. Don’t waste your time here.

The same person completely ignored us all and decided to continue re-filling the ice cream counter instead. Saturday afternoon in the bright, stylish top floor cafe : my companions had the grilled cheese toastie; mine was a big bun filled with Cumberland sausage ring, bacon and egg. The BF is a contemporary art lovers'/buyers' paradise, with enough paintings, prints, craft, sculpture and jewellery to entertain you for at least an hour on top of your eating window, in a beautifully repurposed Victorian warehouse. Nourishment for the body and soul indeed. And free onsite parking!

Such a let down. I am honestly incredibly disappointed with the quality of the food here. The way it is advertised and talked about presents the idea of food being art and sophistication which the food and ambience lacks. Once arriving at the ‘kitchen’ I made my way to the table and sat down in what felt like a cheap cafe. Upon reading the menu, my hopes were raised as everything on the menu sounded nice. This was not the case. I ordered 4 dishes here. And 3 of them I was bitterly disappointed by. The focaccia was greasy and just overall a bit boring and sub-par and had nothing spectacular about it and just felt like a bad sandwich. The avocado toast which I also ordered was served on bread that was incredibly tough and difficult to cut through, however the avocado itself contained a nice blend of herbs in it. The penultimate thing ordered was the all-day brunch sandwich. Which looked ugly and ill presented and didn’t taste much better, leaving an overall feeling of “eh” and couldn’t be finished. The final dish of Moroccan baked eggs was in complete contrast to the previous dishes as this was somewhat nice. It had interesting flavours and a good presentation and was the only successful dish. The coffee we drank was also a bit of a let down although the selection of teas were nice. At the end of this experience I decided to take my family elsewhere. I won’t be returning unless to view the attached art museum which was interesting and fun to view. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this.

We have ate here a few times. The location is great; parking is limited but there is some overflow and on-street parking near by. Breakfast is amazing but the salads are best of all - a fresh selection of unusual veggie salads every day.

Had lunch here the other week whilst visiting the biscuit factory. Had a quiche with two side salads which were gorgeous. They seem to change the salad optiobs quite often so it is always nice to try something new. Lovely bright and light interior too and great roof terrace!

The food in this Italian is excellent - I had their famous “handkerchief” pasta and we had a Parma ham starter that was also devine! Unfortunately we were too full to have dessert. The service was friendly and attentive! Would definitely eat in again and would recommend to friends if in Los Angeles. It is in a slightly secluded location so taxis to and from the restaurant are needed!

The food at Factory Kitchen is always excellent. My favourite choice is the salad bowl with an ever-changing selection of fresh and exciting salads, and on Saturdays they sell delicious Proven donuts. The outside terrace area is lovely to sit on a warm day, and they offer a 10% discount for students!

We have eaten occasionally at the Biscuit Factory over the years and I am delighted to say that this relatively new expansion in the form of a roof top terrace results in its best cafe/bar facility so far.Known as the Factory Kitchen the cafe is light and airy, taking advantage of the great views, tastefully decorated as you would expect within the Biscuit Factory and the food was delicious.I had a very tasty cheese sandwich with bacon, washed down with a Sputnik beer and my wife had a quiche with salad and a glass of the house white wine.Friendly and efficient service and they deserve to be a lot busier - it's a gem.

We headed here for a bite to eat, we were looking for a place that served brunch near to where we were staying (Staybridge suites) and we were not disappointed. The menu has a host of delicious dishes to choose from, including eggs Benedict, avocado on toast, salads to name a few. We were torn between the lamb shoulder with harissa and the pork and fennel ciabatta so we opted for both and shared them.

Great lunch or snack spot on the first floor of the Biscuit Factory, a craft and art centre a mile or so outside the city centre. Bright contemporary decor, and a great selection of light lunch dishes, cakes, etc. I had a tasty deep-filled quiche with a selection of wonderful and unusual salads. My wife had a spicy shakshuka, which she enjoyed very much. A number of different bottled and canned beers are available.

Stopped by for lunch during our visit to the gallery. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory area with open views and open area with fresh air, although sheltered from the worst of the weather. Beef ciabatta was delicious and very filling.

I never take pictures of my food, but the avocado on toast looked so good that I did. It tasted absolutely delicious and the other brunch/light lunch options sounded amazing too. Extremely good value and in such an interesting building: would highly recommend.

Been here before and it was good. Today was absolutely stunning and off the scale. Janis had the Houmous Plate with the beetroot and blood orange salad. Delicious. I had the slow cooked Harissa lamb ciabatta with tzatzki and the beetroot salad as well. Wow!

The Factory Kitchen used to be quite crowded - it retains its popularity but they have expanded the floor area many times over. It serves interesting and delicious savoury and sweet foods, very well prepared; the tables are mostly near upper floor windows, which gives great views over the city.

The Biscuit Factory is a great location whether you like the art or not . It's always nice to find a cafe attached as a good excuse for a coffee and snack I liked the clean simple decor and layout of the space . I had a delicious cake but my flat white was just average . In a world where latte art is almost the norm and the sign of a trained barista - the indistinct froth on my flat white was disappointing.

The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.

Had a great afternoon here with my wife. Great prices and the bar staff are tremendous. A big shout out for Claire the barmaid who couldn't have made us more welcome and went above and beyond to make our afternoon even better. This lovely lady saved us a great deal and welcomed us to a saving app. It's great. (Money off booze. Say no more). Thank you Claire. We definitely recommend this pub. It's stood the test of time and will definitely be here for a lot more years to come. Proper pub. Proper people and Proper bar staff. Thank you. See you soon 🍻🍻🍻
