The best restaurants serving British food in North East

I visited last week. The shop had good reviews and was fairly close to where I was staying. I bought haddock and chips. The main problem was a soggy, greasy batter. This had soaked through to the meat of the fish so it no longer retained its beautiful whiteness. The chips were mostly small and hard. One of the worst fish suppers I've ever had. I'm from the North East of Scotland and am used to excellently cooked fish and chips.

What a great 2 night stay we had. Set in a wooded area with great views. The rooms are clean and certainly adequate. Paul the host is remarkable. He is so friendly and couldn't do enough for my partner and I top service throughout our stay. Fantastic

What a great pub, was on holiday in Newbiggin for a couple of weeks , fantastic atmosphere , friendly locals ,competitive prices , catering for all ,football , open mic , very efficient bar staff, 10/10 To whoever runs it you have definitely cracked it

Lovely pub but really disappointed by the female member of staff serving who blatantly ignored us waiting patiently at the bar and deliberately served others who clearly arrived after us. Poor attitude and the pub deserves better quality of staff than this. Walked out and went to Tin of Sardines down the road - proper and fair service....

Excellent service, disappointing Sunday lunch, slight redemption with an excellent sticky toffee pudding and good service. The three roast lunch had a very small piece of chicken and two small single slices of pork and beef, side of veg. Meat was disappointing, chicken dry, the beef fatty and the pork was fine. Veg cooked well and the service was very good, great with kids as well. Lovely setting, very disappointing lunch, think it was about £26 for the main so not cheap and offered very poor value for money. Kids meals were very good and the sticky toffee pudding for pudding was superb.

We stayed in The Bilberry for three night. What an amazing experience. Staff were lovely. breakfast and dinner was amazing. Room was stunning.

Lunch today, nice and quiet as 11 45 , so not many in and meals good portions staff very friendly and obliging as requested extra serviettes. Prices good only one problem salt was wet but would still go back as I use too much salt anyway and I could have asked for another salt seller. Have 6friends who lunch for each other’s birthdays so will suggest going here.

Used to come here years ago and were driving past and thought let's pop in. Decor is definitely a bit dated but the place was clean. Staff were nice. Ordered food and it came very timely .... and what a delight! Absolutely wonderful home cooked style food. My steak pie was like a Sunday lunch and my wife's fish goujons were plentiful and really lovely. Went out of our way to tell the staff how nice it was and they were delighted .... always give praise when praise is due!! These local places need to be supported because they are an absolute delight.

Very clean and welcoming coffee shop. Staff ver friendly and welcome. Service first class. Food hot and reasonably priced.

It was our 20th wedding anniversary and we came across Bulan the food was delicious and hot the lad who’s was serving us was so welcoming it’s a small & comfy environment we will definitely be going back :)

Visitamos la semana pasada, ya que el plato de compartir sonaba bien. ¡Lo era! Teníamos entradas para estar en algún lugar, así que no podía estar mucho tiempo, pero sin duda volveremos a visitar para una comida. Teníamos el plato de carne y queso, servido con pan, uvas, chutney. Nos dijeron que el queso era de Northumberland, así que apoyan a los productores regionales. El entorno era precioso, pequeño y acogedor, gran vista y personal cálido y amable. Bien vale la pena una visita, hemos estado una vez y sin duda volveremos.

This retro looking cafe is something else. Came across by chance and so glad we did. Only went in for a cuppa and a snack, but when we saw the menu wished we had had a meal. Clean, not expensive and friendly staff plus they are dog friendly too. As seen on the police Drama Vera. Well worth a visit.

Very friendly and lovely food quick service and reasonably priced had the all day breakfast one of the best around hexham

The best fish and chips we've had in the area. Our go to when we visit. Generous portion sizes and no grease left on plates.
