Wolsingham in County Durham

Called for a Saturday tea and we were not disappointed. Fabulous quality and great portions. Not cheap but well worth the money. Will be a regular call for us now. Loads of amazing places to park up and eat so winner all round.

Disappointed from the off. Oil was clearly dirty and the girl serving wasn't much better with a terrible customer service attitude think her name was Caitlyn or Cortin? . Save your money and go to the Chinese instead.

Called in last night and waited 5-10 minutes to get served as it was really busy. But we'll worth the wait. Ordered fish and chips ,and wasn't disappointed. Nice size fish,loads of chips and batter.

Best fish and chips in years. I had the jumbo fish and large chips for myself and my 4 frenchies . We look forward to our treat every Friday .

Best fish and chip shop around good old fashioned fish and chips wrapped in news paper drive past my local fish to go to it shame it’s not open more

This is the worst fish and chips I have ever had! The amount of grease is just disgusting! The lady in the shop was so so rude and very unpleasant! They heat up stuff in microwaves!!!!! The shop itself is very dirty and not looked after and it smells disgusting inside and they don’t even take cards! The fish was awful! We threw it all in the bin and cooked something at home instead! What a shame! No masks/ hair nets/ gloves or any protective clothing and hygiene is absolutely terrible! They wash up the metal fryers in the sink and they don’t go through a proper washing processed! Or even a dish washer! Food hygiene rating is a 3!! Yuk! We checked when we got home! Never ever go here and a avoid at all costs!

We couldn’t resist sampling some fish and chips as our family walk came to an end. Cravens is situated perfectly at the end of the circular walk route. There was a short wait as the fish is cooked fresh. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious!!! Certainly one of the nicest I’ve experienced. They were cooked perfectly. My wife and kids also enjoyed them as much as myself. Each portion was wrapped in newspaper. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this fish and chip shop.

Best chips around and the best value! Lovely friendly staff! You won’t find a nicer chippy in Weardale!

Just had fish (haddock) and chips from Craven’s whilst in the area on a short break. Wow! The fish was lovely with an excellent flavour, good chips and generous portions and we had the regular size. Old fashioned prices too. Amazing value and service with a smile. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Craven’s.

my husband and i go every saturday it is open. the fish is beautiful and chips lovely and plentiful. i can honestly say these are the best fish and chips ever, cant wait for a saturday. tried quite a few fish and chip shops but this one beats the lot. cant wait for saturday

we have been to wolsington many times over the years. however very sad to see the bank has gone and a few shops we used to visit have closed down. we did the walk along the river going through the park onto the public footpath.we parked the car in the square in the centre of Wolsingham.

Lovely town with all you need as a base for exploring the Pennines AONB. Lovely cafe, restaurant and pub.

The people in wolsingham are so friendly and welcoming where ever you go people say hello the coffee shop no 10 is fantasic and ute lovely to sit outside on the corner and watch the world go by.

What a beautiful little village. We loved our family stay and found it very friendly. We even got to see a beautiful wedding go past our air bnb. Will definitely be back soon ❤️🍾🥂

Good park for the kids with a nice hidden sun spot of the River Wear hidden behind the football field but you have to venture through the woods. Good walks for hiking if you know where to look!

We really enjoyed wandering around Wolsingham; it isn't huge - and the road is a bit tricky with parked vehicles in bad places, but well worth visiting. We enjoyed our coffee at the nuber ten cafe too!

There are a few leaflets with walks and we enjoyed ‘The mile of stiles’ circular walk. Although it was very warm the range of stiles we had to cross was really interesting. The leaflet was very good although after the farm we had problem finding the first style.

We have been visitors to Wolsingham many times over the years. A lovely place. Take a stroll through the streets to willow lane where the ducks are swimming in the water, Or lying on the grass near the water. We always take bread to feed them. Stunning views along the water. Plenty of pubs and restaurants or even coffee shops to take a break. It's always well worth stopping to have a look around.

Llamamos aquí en febrero, antes de ir de camping para el fin de semana. El personal siempre fue muy amable y sé que estamos (incluso si sólo ve una vez al año), las raciones son enormes, más como tiburones de bacalao! ! ! ! ! ! Una visita obligada si buscas algo de comida tradicional.

A must if visiting Wolsingham, staff are really friendly and the food is cooked to perfection, with very large portions.

Wow what a great chip shop...chips are only 75p and are cooked to perfection. Fish bites are 80p and are the size of a fish portion. Staff are really freindly..

Stayed at Melbourne Place B&B; (amazing) and found the village and locals to be beautiful and friendly. Will be re-visiting for sure. Oh and the Black Lion is a great little pub too.

El hotel bahía de caballos en wolsingham tiene que ser el mejor lugar que he tenido el placer de alojarme la comida y personal donde fantástico junto con la música en vivo de lunes nos resulto noche tuve un muy bonito, cálida y acogedora. Se lo recomiendo a todos mis amigos y familia.
