Nothing to go mad about but if you want good, home made food at reasonable prices then give it a try. Someone else put Its not the Ritz - well it isn't but the service is quick, the staff are friendly and its very reasonable (cheap).

Always a great welcome, and a good laughter. Very accommodating with a huge menu that can be adapted to suit everyone's taste. The food is freshly made and is just the right price. Lovely home made puddings. A real gem.

I've had breakfast here quite a few times. The portion sizes are large & the food is lovely. Most cheaper places use cheap sausages & beans in their breakfasts but they serve good quality food at the Oven Door. It's reasonably priced & has a nice atmosphere. My only critic..The staff are very distant & could be friendlier.

Great coffee and cake stop and tasted the same as it did in 1997 Used to gather here with colleagues for meetings and had cake and coffee then Norman wisdom picture still on the wall who I loved ,, Good to see established owner and staff but a shame that the tables are still the same the decor is awful and still cold but you know what it didn't matter one jot !! Good to go back and I will return when passing soon

The Oven Door IS only steps away from where we live and has some impressive past (and present) clients. An early new year breakfast treat with neighbours proved to be the most perfect start to our day. We'd have struggled to feed and water the 4 of us so reasonably ourselves. Beyond a wonderfully freshly cooked breakfast; there is a comprehensive menu of home-cooked fare. Find time to pop up to the "Wingrove" part of Fenham and try it out yourself!

One of the best places in the Fenham area to sort yourself out with your scran.I spent years living across the road and frequenting this establishment after heavy nights out. The full English breakfasts will fix you for the day ahead no problem. They offer a wide range of home cooked meals all at a more than reasonable price and the majority of the menu is available to take away.

I have been going to the Oven door for many years and there is one reason why .. the food is like your mum would make. Everything is tasty and well cooked. The vegetables actually taste like vegetables and the mince and dumplings are yummy. Staff are friendly and service always spot on. Go if you can.

A great cafe with freshly made, home cooked meals. The food here is always lovely. The meals are generous and the puddings are irresistible... All washed down with a big pot of tea. I've never had a bad meal here and the staff are friendly and helpful.

i have been enjoying this lovely homely corner of Fenham for very many years and yesterday returned after gap of a few weeks. The home made pea and ham soup was completely delicious followed by a lovely chilli con carne. It is particularly fitting that I should leave this recommendation for a splendid little cafe, as today would have been the hundredth birthday of a regular visitor of the Oven Door ,namely Norman Wisdom . I remember very well his enjoyment of the delicious homely cooking and friendly atmosphere which today is still as excellent as ever it was!

I've been visiting the Oven Door on and off for several years. It is one of the best traditional cafes in Newcastle, serving excellent home-cooked food: roasts, pies, quiches, toasted sandwiches, all-day breakfasts, and much else, all at very decent prices. In the unlikely event that you're not filled up after that, they serve a variety of puds: pies, crumbles, cakes and so on. It's not Fine Dining, but it is really first class Nosh, and none the worse for that. Nun's Moor Road is a minor road perhaps 1.5 miles west of the city centre, and Stagecoach bus 12 passes close by. A friendly place - much frequented by the late Norman Wisdom when he visited a friend who lived nearby - and well worth a visit, or even several vists - a long menu, worth working one's way through.

Had a great afternoon here with my wife. Great prices and the bar staff are tremendous. A big shout out for Claire the barmaid who couldn't have made us more welcome and went above and beyond to make our afternoon even better. This lovely lady saved us a great deal and welcomed us to a saving app. It's great. (Money off booze. Say no more). Thank you Claire. We definitely recommend this pub. It's stood the test of time and will definitely be here for a lot more years to come. Proper pub. Proper people and Proper bar staff. Thank you. See you soon 🍻🍻🍻

The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.
