Busy student vibe lots of friends enjoying themselves, plenty of seating area and screens to watch sport, upstairs with pool tables seating and again screens, music in background just right for early evening, drinks were good and reasonably priced, staff were all attentive and friendly. Food was tasty and well presented didn’t have to wait too long either. Would highly recommend for a casual night out not too ott and most welcoming Cracking beer garden 👍🏼

Nipped in during an afternoon to try the new menu. Amber was very helpful and went through all the new options available. Great food and beer choices. Will definitely be popping in again!

Went in here for the first time with my brother the bar has lots of seating available inside and outside and it's a nice clean bar with friendly staff am definitely going back to try the food

Good to watch sports,good basic food and drink at reasonable prices with lots of special offers as well,happy hours etc. Mainly a student bar but as a just retired person i didnt feel out of place.

Booked the upstairs room for our work's Christmas party, had a really fun and relaxed time, they let us decorate to make it more festive, staff were really helpful and attentive and there was an excellent selection of festive food for the buffet.

Cracking pub. Can be expensive compared to your spoonses but its about right for the toon. Pool tables upstairs and plenty tellies for matches

I was very disappointed on my last visit to witness a confrontation where the manager deciding to escalate to violence against a black man. There was a confrontation happening, the member of the public was drunk but in no way being aggressive. The manager chose to smash the glass out of his hand, and start a fight. I have video footage of the manager smirking during the altercation. It became a spectacle that was cheered on by other drunk (all white) members of the public. It would be great if staff training could be reviewed to ensure that staff remain professional and de-escalating protocols are followed.

I usually come here often but the past 3 or 4 times I’ve had really bad experiences with the staff. They have been really rude and patronising without cause. I was honestly shocked by it, having worked in hospitality before I’d never speak to customers the way myself and my friends have been for no reason. It’s disappointing as I like the atmosphere in here but suffers from a case of bad customer service.

I’ve always received lovely service from the staff who are very friendly and happy to help. The food is good value for money and a good selection for different dietary requirements. Would recommend to anyone wanting cheap drinks and a great atmosphere!

Decent student pub which has been there for many many years under different names (Bierrex etc). Mostly mainstream beers, but they have a couple of IPA types as well. Good classic rock and pop music playing.

Nice bar, fast friendly staff, great service, outside seating if you prefer.

I was at this pub 19/07/24 and it was only£4.50 for a pint of Guinness which they poured it perfectly. Great pub with great food and a great atmosphere.

Been here loads of times it's a nice place today I was with my wife with the flowers dress on table 33 !!! Would like to say thank you to the friendly staff who looked after us the best service 👍

Had my sons 21st birthday there . The staff were great , decorated the pub , food was excellent and covered all the dietary needs we needed . Couldn't of asked for a better service x

My favourite place in town. Service is always great and the food is lovely! Jackson is a credit to the bar and always greets us with a smile.

Didn't try the food but found this place on maps before we went to a gig at the city hall. Very nice inside and very warm and welcoming staff, cocktails were very good value for money, quite hidden away but a very nice place to visit.

5 friends and myself met here for lunch, very good for the money for the lunch and a drink offer, all had flat breads and a glass of wine, coffees afterwards. would deffinately be back again and we will try the weekend.

Called in today with my friends for pizza and drinks.Been here before on numerous occasions and as always food and service is spot in..very polite staff and attentive to to whats going on in bar..They came over to us and asked if we needed more drinks etc and if we were pleased with food ..we will be returing yet again when we are in newcastle next,a hidden gem ..

Food was lovely as usual has the fish and chips which was delicious would highly recommend

I love this pub and the food is unreal. The staff for the most part are lovely however, a small few of them have a absolute stinking attitude when they serve you and it’s so off putting.

Great venue and cheap drink Mondays! Only 4 stars because I was told that they can't promise any food, even salad, can be gluten free because their kitchen extractor fans pick up and spray flour over everything 😂
