Decent student pub which has been there for many many years under different names (Bierrex etc). Mostly mainstream beers, but they have a couple of IPA types as well. Good classic rock and pop music playing.

Nice bar, fast friendly staff, great service, outside seating if you prefer.

Been here loads of times it's a nice place today I was with my wife with the flowers dress on table 33 !!! Would like to say thank you to the friendly staff who looked after us the best service 👍

I was at this pub 19/07/24 and it was only£4.50 for a pint of Guinness which they poured it perfectly. Great pub with great food and a great atmosphere.

Met up with friends and as always,great food,good atmosphere,and friendly Staff.Shout out to jaxon who looked after us all..Would highly recommend a visit .

I’ve been lucky enough to visit The Hancock a few times over the last few years and it never disappoints. Service is always of high quality and the food is amazing- I would definitely recommend.

Had my sons 21st birthday there . The staff were great , decorated the pub , food was excellent and covered all the dietary needs we needed . Couldn't of asked for a better service x

Didn't try the food but found this place on maps before we went to a gig at the city hall. Very nice inside and very warm and welcoming staff, cocktails were very good value for money, quite hidden away but a very nice place to visit.

5 friends and myself met here for lunch, very good for the money for the lunch and a drink offer, all had flat breads and a glass of wine, coffees afterwards. would deffinately be back again and we will try the weekend.

Called in today with my friends for pizza and drinks.Been here before on numerous occasions and as always food and service is spot in..very polite staff and attentive to to whats going on in bar..They came over to us and asked if we needed more drinks etc and if we were pleased with food ..we will be returing yet again when we are in newcastle next,a hidden gem ..

Food was lovely as usual has the fish and chips which was delicious would highly recommend

I love this pub and the food is unreal. The staff for the most part are lovely however, a small few of them have a absolute stinking attitude when they serve you and it’s so off putting.

Great venue and cheap drink Mondays! Only 4 stars because I was told that they can't promise any food, even salad, can be gluten free because their kitchen extractor fans pick up and spray flour over everything 😂

8 of us attended for a Xmas lunch and the service and value of the food could not be faulted at all. The 2 guys looking after us were very attentive and dealt with an allergen brilliantly and was very detailed. We will be sure to book up again for next year. We all got the 3 course lunch and the burgers were one of the best I've had around town, would very highly recommend this place for sure.

16 of us for Christmas lunch and we all loved it. Fantastic staff took care of us all in a timely fashion and the food was amazing, especially the turkey dinner pie. I would thoroughly recommend this place!

Dirty chips were a rip off for a fiver. Got a handful in bowl. Place was cold, had to sit with my coat on. Don't think I'll be going back

Absolutely brilliant place to host a party. We booked out the upstairs "coop" bar for a birthday and from the point of booking to leaving nothing was too much trouble and we were really looked after on the night of the event. We would highly recommend this place for any large bookings, its also just out the way of the main high street giving it a very private feeling.

It’s us back again, still can’t complain about anything here, it is simply great, pizzas outstanding as they always are, service top notch as usual. 10 out of 10.

The overall service is great, and I come here weekly with friends to have drinks. However, there's been an issue persisting for over half a year with the door locks in the women's toilet. Out of the 5 cubicles, 2 have had broken locks. This significantly affects female customers, and I hope this can be resolved promptly.

The Hancock is an amazing pub with a great vibe. We booked the upstairs room for a 21st birthday party. The managers and staff went above and beyond to create an atmospheric space for us to enjoy. The bar staff created a range of non alcoholic cocktails for guests who didn’t drink. The catering team met everyone’s dietary needs and we had the most delicious pizzas! Nothing was too big for them- they were so helpful and resourceful. I would definitely recommend for a drink and food or even for an organised event! An ideal and safe place to be in the city.

If you ask kindly, they’ll play Formula 1 upstairs! Been to the Hancock both socially and to attend private events upstairs - it’s always a treat! The food is excellent, but I’ve often found food to be sold out, so always have a back-up option when ordering food!!

Lively pub, great service from staff. Haven't had food, but looks like decent pub fare. Offers discounts for students, blue light and civic centre staff, which is nice. Not too expensive either way.

The absolute best burgers in Newcastle. I've ate burgers at so many pubs in Newcastle and Gosforth but here serves the best. The amount of sauces and contents inside the burgers is absolutely incredible to say the least, also the amount of flavour with the burgers is simply unbeatable. Here serves the best burgers I have ever eaten. 10/10. Excellent.

Decent place for a pint and live sport, only cheap with student card which isnt ideal. Plastic cups instead of pint glasses often used so wont be back

On a trip to the Newcastle from Greece, our first time to the UK and visiting many cities, very good bar and atmosphere was very good for the football when Newcastle were playing, would recommend very highly.

This place had stood the test of time. I was there last weekend...before that it was around 10 years ago. I used to go all the time back in the day. It still looks pretty much exactly the same. It looks well maintained and the staff are friendly. Good selection of drinks and food. There is a beer terrace and an inside section. If your passing it's worth stopping for drinks a bite to eat.

We were attending a conference at the civic centre and spotted this place on our lunch break. We popped in and sat in the courtyard outside, we both ordered a flatbread and coffee. The lovely gentleman behind the bar brought everything to the table and the food was fantastic. We spent just under £20 for the 2 of us for lunch, very good value and a lovely afternoon.

Slightly hidden away from the bustle of the city centre but not too far a walk from haymarket. We came in for some tea after work and it was faultless, from the service to the food, the chaps behind the bar we also a right laugh with us.

Jackson, Alex and Ellen gave the most impeccable service, poured the best guinnesses I’ve seen in my life, I think it’d break the Guinness world record. So lovely and kind. Would recommend to a friend. Love yous all Xxx

Really happy we chose this venue to celebrate a low key friends Birthday weekend away.Greeted & catered for by the Staff in a very courteous manner. Went above & beyond & even provided us with a VIP area.Great selection of Drinks & Food was delicious..Would have no hesitation on returning & recommending.Top Job All.

We saw the sign outside for happy hour and ad never been ere before, cocktails on the cheap menu were brilliant and only £3, we will be back tomorrow!

Bottomless brunch here is the best I’ve been to, everything just seems a lot more efficient and quicker than others, the cocktails were particularly good and the pizzas were amazing 10 on 10. We visited last Thursday (table 3)

We try Mac & cheese on our Insta page, we got recommended here from a friend, it was a good recci, the Mac n cheese is soooo good, we added chicken on and it came with garlic bread and a pint on the lunch deal, for around 7 pound with a drink you can’t complain.

We were made feel so welcome by Team Hancock. Pizza and gin were perfect as was the service. Under the restrictions the pub looks great and the team done their best to ensure we had an enjoyable visit!

What an amazing first outing to a pub! We didn’t book but they but they were very accommodating and found us a table very quickly. We found it very comfortable and felt very safe as it was obvious that there was a well rehearsed system in place and was very covid secure. We ordered a few beers which was our initial plan, we ended up enjoying ourselves that much that we ended up staying a little longer (which wasn’t a problem) and ended up have a bite to eat here aswell. WOW!! What can I say, the pizzas were to die for. We will be back tomorrow if you can squeeze us in! Great bar and even better service, keep up the great work you are putting in. Excelente narrativa a medida que llega y tuvimos la sensación de que nos iban a cuidar aquí. Mis amigos y yo visitamos el Hancock ayer por la tarde instantáneamente a nuestra llegada, el personal fue extremadamente grosero y moralista. El camarero Scott era extremadamente agresivo y claramente enojado con el mundo y estaba diciendo mentiras difamatorias. No estaban siguiendo las pautas de COVID tocando a mi amigo en el hombro. ¡Absolutamente no servicio divino! ! ¡Necesitan aprender a tratar a los clientes de manera adecuada o dejar la industria hotelera de inmediato! ! !

Fab night at the pub watching the game. We all had burgers and sat in front of the projector screen upstairs, what a hidden gem. We will return for future matches and a bite to eat.

We booked a table to watch the Liverpool game last night, it was amazing! We were right in front of a huge TV in our own private little area. Pizzas were great and the atmosphere was on point. Shame about the Liverpool score.

We went for karaoke last week and it was amazing, we all had such a great time. The pints were £2 with a student card and the atmosphere was brilliant. The place to be if you are a student in Newcastle. The food is pretty awesome too!

Had some lush burgers this lunchtime for our first ever visit at The Hancock, we definitely recommend the Big O burger, juicy and delicious. We both had the sharing platter between us also, it was huge!! Far to much for us but we tried, we will be back next week.
