Top pub in the old Jesmond Railway Station. Hidden away and you wouldn’t know you’re right next to the city centre. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff with a good selection of beer.

Lovely, quaint little place. Plenty of different lagers and ales. The pub itself is so quirky, indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking outside.

I can't say anything about the food, because I only ever go for drinks, but I have to say, they were superb - two, maybe three excellent drinkable and well-kept beers, which, for Newcastle, is rather good, bearing in mind the current trend for sour-tasting stuff. Also have to compliment the staff for carrying over the drinks of an elderly guy who was a little unsteady on his feet.

This is a first-rate place. The portion sizes are great value for money and the atmosphere is first-class due to the friendly staff! The chef is a personable individual with great skill in creating a top-rate vegan restaurant menu. The barman Dave took his time to chat with us, he is a cracking bloke… one of the many reasons we come back time and time again.

Vegan pub, where you can enjoy super tasty food. Highly recommended.

The staff were lovely here! Even my dad who’s one of those anti vegan heavy meat eaters enjoyed the vegan burger and hasn’t stopped going on about it! Probably the best chips ever too, perfectly fried.

Like THE SHIP INN, this sister company seem not to give many flying frickles for their customers. Fish n chips £14 for a couple of chips and two small pieces of tofish. Looked like sth from a child menu. I returned to the bar asking for a few more chips but they blank faced, no shots given, said “that’s the portion size….can give you more but will charge” willy wonktards! Here have a review to fit your measlies! I’ll go back for sure and if this continues I’ll make my reviews longer with extra wit! Watch this space.

Friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.

Lovely place, not too crowded with plenty screens to watch the match. Staff are so friendly and the service it top class. Feels like a traditional local pub.

An old pub with lots of original features. Very friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Had a very tasty Sunday lunch. We could have stayed all afternoon. Can't wait to go back.

Good local bar with great service

Always love popping into the Carriage if out for an afternoon walk close by. The choice of beers is great, especially dark ales. Service is great and staff are always friendly. Love the fact character of the pub has been kept especially the fire 😁 Would deffo recommend a visit xxx

Lovely old school bar serving great food, great eclectic mix of people, the food was lovely although we only had the chips as a snack these weren't your usual chips (deep brown cooked thrice)had a lovely pint of Guinness as it was paddy's day after all 'ta be shore'. Barman lovely and helpful great place hidden away just off the road or go under tunnel by the 'metro' Lovely Indian nxt door half in a railway carriage as well see photo 📸 ...thanks all.

Only 4 stars as pub was very cold .only 1 of the 3 fires lite and the pub was fairly busy.everyone wearing coats. Food gorgeous Staff super friendly

One of my favourite pubs I’ve been to - I’d visit a lot if I lived in Newcastle! Very cosy spot, super cool decorations, delicious vegan roast and snacks, nice board games, cool music.

Great pub, lovely atmosphere and an amazing menu. Little tip: if you use the designated parking make sure you record validating it, as the parking company tried to fine us even though we'd validated it as stated.

Used to really enjoy going in here. Great location, dog friendly and very cosy inside. There’s been a change in management over the last few weeks. Lee and his team were really friendly. Came in for a beer last weekend and received the worst service. Conversing with the server was painful and I felt like I wasn’t actually welcome in the bar. I went and sat outside, finished my drink and went to one of the other nearby pubs that actually treat you like a valued customer. I’ve also noticed the staff being fairly rude to other customers as well. Went with two stars as some of the food is okay. Not fair on the kitchen staff who aren’t customer facing. Won’t be back. This place is well and truly on the decline.

Great classic pub vibe. All vegan menu is fantastic and although i've not tried the food I've heard great things. They have a selection of board games there too. Gets lively at the weekends but not too crazy. Strongly recommend!

Had a really good meal here last night! The "Jack Shawarma" was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. Nice and friendly barman too, I didn't catch his name but he was from Cumbria. Definitely knew his stuff and recommended me a lovely pint. Would definitely recommend

Loved the carriage, proper nice old pub with some great features and decor. Really pleased that all the menu was vegan as well, the food was great, I had the jackfruit shawarma, really good! Staff were really friendly as well. It was dog friendly as well so got to meet some nice dogs.

I was in relatively early on Tuesday so it was quiet but it started to fill up. I had some great beer and they had dandelion and burdock on tap which my wife was exceptionally excited about! It is a beautiful pub with lovely staff (and dog). I feel it would have a fantastic atmosphere when it is busy going by those that came in and how well kept it is. My mum remembers it as Jesmond Railway station.

What an absolute gem of a place. The food was amazing, the building was quirky with a brilliant atmosphere, and the staff (& dogs!) were wonderfully welcoming. I wish it was my local.

Absolutely gorgeous place! We went for Sunday lunch and it was incredibly tasty! Fully vegan menu with lots of choice. The service was outstanding, the chap who served us was so friendly, very helpful and funny. The building and interior is stunning. Full of quirky little features. Would highly recommend and will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Amazingly dog friendly and welcoming pub. We just nipped in for a drink but the atmosphere is great, drinks are reasonably priced and a great selection, and the staff were open, friendly, and just lovely to chat to.

Absolutely lovely pub! Beers are more on the expensive side but worth it for the atmosphere and food! Plus there's plenty of free games, free arcade machine and free jukebox! Had a few vegan Sunday dinners here and they've slapped each time really excellent food, especially as it doesn't even feel like it's vegan too! Quite tricky to initially find but definitely worth the look, highly recommend!

Tucked away this is a bit of a hidden gem, bit seemed popular on a Friday night. Great beer with cask from Cullercoats Brewery and a roaring fire. Seemed like a very pleasant pub. I only had time for swift pint of stout as I was meeting someone at Jesmond metro (only a minute away through the underpass). I must make time to go back.

Absolutely amazing spot. All-vegan menu, great selection of beer and the staff were lovely. We were given a really warm welcome and an absolutely amazing Sunday roast. Very highly recommended.

Great traditional bar with open fire's

I have changed my rating of this pub from 4 stars to 1 after our most recent visit. Previously we have enjoyed our visits to this venue as the staff have been very helpful. Unfortunately the owner/ manager/ dictator has dispelled the high rating due to her lack of customer skills!!😳😳. Ps bring your own chairs/ bar stools if you want to enjoy your night!!👎

Great range of drinks, lovely staff, relaxed friendly and dog-friendly atmosphere. Live DJs some nights providing themed nights (e.g. 80s, Motown), always a good vibe and friendly crowd. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is all vegan and they have guest chefs sometimes (Veganatomy, for example - lush).

This is a great pub serving only vegan food. Beautiful building... a little difficult to find, but when you do I recommend you should visit for drinks & good especially if you are vegan.

Great pub, loads of character. Only thing stopping it being 5 stars is that they don’t always have their food menu on. Dog friendly, well conditioned beers. The quiz is also great.

As meatlovers with a vegetarian daughter it was exciting to see if we would like the food. It was so good! We had the burger, the falafel and the "fisn" n chips. We loved it! Didn't miss anything. As Dutch tourists we love the english pubculture and were not disappointed with The Carriage!

Absolutely lovely pub! They held my cousins wedding reception and it was perfect. Bar staff were so lovely and made the day that extra bit special.

Really good real ale, friendly staff, good bar!

Homely, spacious, traditional with a good range of ales and beers. Railway themed (it is an old station) with a range of authentic and replica memorabilia. Friendly staff. Clean and well furnished.

I can't thank the staff at The Carrige enough for helping to make my daughters wedding special. Food was delicious and everyone had a lovely time.

Discovered this hidden gem on a recent trip with friends. Really friendly atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Great choice of drinks available to suit all tastes. Overall cant fault it and look forward to visiting again next time I visit Newcastle.

Half of Old Rosie was fine but no other choice of real cider. 3 or 4 real ales to choose from. Menu vegetarian/vegan so not for us.
