We only stumbled upon this little gem recently, but it has become one of our absolute favourites! Especially for a spot of lunch. The cafe does real home cooked foods, from beautiful sunday roasts to an amazing chilli con carne. And don't even get me started on the home-made chips! The nostaglia this place makes you feel every - single - time is amazing. Anyone remember Dave's Cafe that was in sunderland town? Just a little cafe, nothing fancy, you got your cheesy chips and pop while your nana played on the slots after her 13th cup of coffee. Although there is no arcade, this place gives you full Daves Cafe vibes! Cheap and cheerful, with delicous food everytime. And a welcoming, friendly team of staff to top it all off! A point to add, I am currently pregnant and the staff have been amazing constantly allocating for all of my little craving whims! For the price, roughly £5-6 for a full meal, you CANNOT beat Taste Buds!

I asked for a breakfast ,while waiting at the counter I observed the assistant placing with her bare hands !!! parts of my breakfast of sausage, beacon, black pudding, hash brown on to a plate then placing it in the microwave? This then followed by cooking my egg fresh and then finally putting on the tined tomato and beans from other re heated pans. Although the place is a clean café, I am surprised of the lack of gloves or tongs to handle customers food. Never mind the microwaving bit. To say, my breakfast was a "REHEATED" as my black pudding now a biscuit. and tbh I decided not to eat it as I'm not too sure on the assistants previous movements of her hands!!!

Just ordered 2 beautiful breakfasts from this little gem of a place! Full English breakfast to take away. Absolutely delicious and cooked and served by two lovely ladies who are adhering to all the social distance guidelines. You will not be disappointed, the food is lovely and fresh. Also had Sunday lunch from here - was yummy!

Yo uso este sitio regularmente para el desayuno aunque ofrecen un completo menú diario. Desayuno con una taza en sólo 4 libras es excelente y más que suficiente. Muchos trabajadores locales traslado en para llevar durante toda la mañana, que es testimonio de la buena relación calidad y fantásticas. El personal es muy amable. Volveremos pronto.

Dropped in for breakfast after my hospital visit to a full and filling freshly prepared breakfast. The staff were their usual friendly selves and the atmosphere is very homely. This is a very busy cafe and dealt with many take away orders during my visit but still satisfied seated guests very professionally. Great value for money🙂

Lovely staff, gorgeous food, excellent prices well worth it! We will defo be returning the Sunday lunchs are to die for!

Back again. Testament to the standard of the breakfast served here. Great value for under a fiver as you get a big breakfast toast and a cuppa! + free daily newspaper to read while your meal is freshly prepared. Taste Buds offer a large choice on their menu and all meals are well portioned and home cooked style. Staff are very pleasant and place is always clean.

Simply the best hot food in the area , thank you once again for making the trip up from Teesside worth it . The breakfast is fantastic , hot well prepared and much enjoyed by The Sheriff and his deputy , along with Jimmy ,my cup must be full ! Nice cafe with good selection of breakfast and lunch items. Breakfasts are pretty standard but a nice, quick alternative to doing it yourself. Take away service let's you get your breakfast and take it home without any of the washing up. Would recommend if in the area looking for a quick bite.

Was looking online for breakfasts in Sunderland came across this little beauty, its my first time visiting but wont be my last, I had the large breakfast which was more than plentiful. This place also does a take away service, Its open 7 days a week, I reccomend you to give it a try if your looking for ample servings by warm and friendly staff at value for money prices.

Well ladies , as i travel up from Teesside nearly every Saterday your food must be special. Having being introduced to your fantastic food by JIMMY [ his cup must be full ] Laws your breakfasts are truely the best , full english , the works, well presented freshly prepaired food i am happy to travel for. Immaculatly clean and comfortable seating area with a good range of morning papers nothing is to much trouble to ask as you are always very obliging. Lovely cafe with a great chef and friendly staff. Food is always top notch and have been here a few times now. Highly recommended :)

Food is freshly cooked, plentiful and great value. Staff give a warm homely welcome and free newspapers to read while you wait for your food. Clean and welcoming little cafe/take away and if you're hungry, look no further

Cracking little cafe full English is the best I've had in Sunderland also the mince pie and proper chips really nice staff very friendly also very good prices our regular little cafe now

Often drop in here if I have an appointment at the hospital (just up the road) especially if it's an early appt. I skip breakfast at home and eat here. The food is cooked fresh and you get a good helping served by friendly staff at great value for money. Lunchtime menu once again offers great value, great portions and great taste. Worth a visit.

Have been in this cafe a few times now each time the management and staff are very friendly and it is spotless with a very good and varied menu look forward to going again well worth a visit

Tryed this cafe on a spare of the moment and the customer service was excellent the food was spot on too I definitely go back here and recommend this place again

Best cafe in sunderland always go there never lets u down always nice food and always lovely staff so get your selfs down and try it out

The only Café in Sunder I know of where the full menu is available every day. Sunday lunches are meat and up to FIVE veg which I have not seen in any of the restaurants I've been to. The team treat everyone as though they are regular customers (many are) even though the food and value for money is the main attraction. I always enjoy meals and sandwiches at Tastebuds when I can. The only thing I don't like is that I don't own the business.

If you want value for money and decent sizes portions, then this is definitely the place for you!Benn. Working in the area for the last couple of days and happened on this place by accident, and was we happy to have done so. Happy friendly staff and huge breakfasts to boot ...

Absoutley lovely little cafe with all homemade food, the chips are lovely , breakfasts are to die for, everything is freshly cooked and has a semi open kitchen, staff are very professional helpful and friendly .

Called in for lunch in this busy little cafe. I opted for home-made Panacalty which was a joy to eat. The food was fresh and tasty and the staff were friendly.The photographs on the wall of old Sunderland were interesting too.
