Great place for a drink. We also tried the 2 for £10 cocktails. Plenty of choice

1st time in and wasn't disappointed, fast service the team didn't seem to stop. They seen people standing and asked if they would like a table and found them one. Quite cheep too. Didn't have food but it looked good. Will be back

We went on a Saturdays night before the Theatre as it was right next door, that night there was a band on (which was fab). The atmosphere was uplifting and staff although busy were super friendly. We got the ginger beer battered fish and chips which I highly recommend. We cannot wait to come back as we were so reluctant to leave for the theatre as we were having such a great time!

Popped in without booking for Sunday dinner . Despite being fully reserved they found us a slot . Roast dinner was fantastic. Two empty plates left .Great friendly professional staff .

Fantastic pub in the centre of Sunderland, the food is absolutely fantastic and great value for money, great vegetarian and vegan options too, great selection of drinks and very reasonably priced for a city centre pub that has free live music every Saturday , last but not least the staff are brilliant and always make you feel welcome, I can’t recommend this place enough.

Called for food & drink before going to a show at The Fire Station next door. Great menu, not expensive & quality food. Drinks not over-priced. Friendly & helpful bar staff. Got a little noisy when away fans began chanting prior to going to match at Stadium of Light. No trouble though & would definitely recommend a visit.

Great pub, great atmosphere, love the Peacock. Visited before the match on Friday night. If only the match was as good as our Panack Pot Pies. Great food friendly service and good range of beers.

Proper old fashioned architecture type of pub but modern, friendly and a superb atmosphere. Staff are great! Live music on a Friday and other bigger events during the year. A 5 star bar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Popped in for a drink with the wife, decided to stay for Sunday Dinner, what can I say; one of the best Sunday dinners we have ever had, well worth the money, excellent service, very good selection of beers on tap; we will be back!

This fabulous place is a must if you’re just wanting drinks, a bit of food or a visit before the theatre which is 1 min walk away, we went for food which was amazing, the staff were great and really friendly. It’s also a fabulous building and the atmosphere was great. Will Definitely be visiting again. There’s also a venue upstairs you can hire for events and they have bands on to, will deffo be looking out for those.

A group of us booked a table for a friends birthday, we ordered food separately but were at the bar area together (informing staff that we wanted to eat together). Two meals came out and they had both eaten before anyone else’s arrived. The waiting staff didn’t ask them if they wanted any condiments and we had to flag one down for cutlery, they didn’t bring enough and on asking again they still didn’t bring enough for everyone. One of the girls gave up and picked at her food. The food was okay, the average pub style grub. We were left feeling disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend.

Visited for a drink before the theatre and what a shambles. The bar staff had no clue who was next to be served, people standing for nearly 15 mins to get served whilst others walking in and immediately seen to. When a couple of us waiting queried the order (not aggressively , in a polite manner) was given an aggressive sarcastic response from two of the staff. Some serious customers service training required! Needless to say would not go back

I have been to the Peacock a few times now. We have tried afternoon tea, burgers and other dishes but yet to try the Sunday dinners. Staff are friendly and food is amazing! The attention to detail is brilliant and it’s always well presented. Think I’ll have to book a Sunday lunch soon! Keep up the good work everyone!

The peacock is an absolutely outstanding pub. It's steeped in history being the former londonderry pub, with many memories made there with my parents. Now it's a fantastic place for wonderful food and drinks. It's great on a Saturday with live entertainment in the downstairs bar, but also wonderful during the week and also before and after the match. As well as the historic building, the staff make the place. They are amazing and look after us so well when we go in. I can't say enough about how good it is!!

Been a while between drinks for me in the Londonderry, or Peacock, but it did not disappoint! I did not eat here, but the beers were good. Saturday night music by Wicked Dogz (I think?) was SUPERB!

I like this place, I always have. But on this visit the staff were clearly feeling the pressure of being busy. There is no queuing system - as regulars will know - but non-regulars won't. There was one older guy who was trying to catch the barmaids attention, after she'd passed him over several times, which resulted in her snapping that if he shouted again she wouldn't serve him. The guy pointed out that people were waiting patiently but were being ignored by the barstaff. He pointed out one younger lad who was waiting patiently at the end of the bar and had been there for ages. This prompted who I assumed was was the boss to come out and reiterate that anyone abusing the barstaff would not be served (perfectly right!) but then began to belittle the lad for standing at the end of the bar, albeit patiently, and saying if he had any sense he'd realise that the tills were at the other end of the bar so staff wouldn't serve him there. I felt there was no need to have a go at the lad like that. He wasn't aggressive or shouting, he was just waiting patiently for his turn. Yes, it was extremely busy with football fans but good staff should spot customers who've been waiting patiently for a long time and see that they're eventually served respectfully. Anyway, other than that one incident, it's a great pub and a good pint!

This place is a magic venue as our grandson was in a band playing there. What was great was the mixed crowd that came in some young, some in their later years, but all enjoyed the mix of music. I cannot comment on food as I did not eat. This is a well patronised pub & I would go again. 👍👌😊

Friendly place. Matt and Hatley most helpful when I first visited helping with directions and putting my dead phone on charge, good quality guinness although quite pricey at 4 90 a pint

Didnt get admittedly but from what i saw it looked good and we were offered free pie too! Nice place, busy, friendly staff. If I'm in the area again will probably visit again. Its nice to find a place that makes you feel local when you're not.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea in the Peacock. Good value for money and we were so full when we left. Would definitely revisit.

Lovely little pub. Food was great, had soup and sandwich which was tomato basil. Choice of a few sandwiches, I got cheddar, mushroom and caramelised onion on sough dough which went so well with the soup. Most food available as vegan, also gluten free options for a lot of the menu. Lots of choice for alcohol at the bar, also serve a variety of coffees. Staff are great, friendly and we're grateful for feedback and gave a lot of info about the food when asked. Nice big windows letting in lots of light, well decorated and in the centre of town.

Attended the real ale festival really excellent hopefully they will have another one soon

A wide choice of drinks, a limited food menu but apparently a very tasty vegan burger (according to a healthy friend) my pie and chips were okay.

Called in on Saturday (Match Day) to be greeted and shown to a free table by a very pleasant man, food ordered for our Grandchildren an myself which I may add was delicious and well worth the price, on leaving, the pub was quite busy, again the same man helped me to the door with pushchair and thanked us for calling in, first time we have been in The Peacock and it certainly won't be the last. A personal touch makes all the difference. THANK YOU.
