In short excellent. Friendly welcome, excellent dinner and breakfast. Fantastic staff. Newly refurbished, warm room. Wine very reasonable. Will definitely recommend.

We reserved a table for 10 on a busy Sunday lunch and had a great family time. The interior is rustic but that is part of the appeal to us. The highlight was the service and the flavours of the food. To say how busy they were the food came at an appropriate pace. The flavours were delicious and the range of veg fantastic. Some of the meat had gristle in it though. (We all had beef). Different selection of puds. Lovely time worth 5* review

A historic country pub with friendly and helpful staff. Situated just off the A69 and a walk away from some fantastic ancient sites. Food was reasonably priced, good quality and big enough to satisfy any ramblers appetite. My only criticism was the noise from the pub below. But if you didn't need an early night, it wouldn't bother you. Definitely worth more than the 3 star rating it holds.

Both had lamb which was lovely and came with really delicious veg including cauliflower cheese and perfect roasties. Excellent sticky toffee pudding too. Service was good and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant, despite being very busy. Husband asked for ice cream with dessert as well as the cream and mentioned it was his birthday. They produced a plate with 'Happy Birthday' on it with a bowl of ice cream on the side! What a lovely gesture. Highly recommend this lovely place. Upstairs dining room is gorgeous.

I have been visiting this iconic Tea Room for years and am pleased to say that even yesterday, which was freezing, the Tea Room was full to overflowing! We were so warmly welcomed and even for guests from Seaton Sluice, from Hertfordshire and New York, Ian was the perfect Host. The Staff are attentive, too. The Menu is varied and both savoury and sweet choices are very much appreciated.

After a fantastic meal here on the Saturday night (fish n chips and the open steak sandwich) we returned again, the following Friday. This time we both had the Manor Inn burger. Fantastic food yet again and possibly the best burger I have had in a long time. Staff were fantastic and service was outstanding.

Only had food here, never stayed in the rooms. But I think I would if I needed. The food is good quality, really nice. Staff good, nice clean place, a tad more pricey, but it's worth it, never had an issue here, and have eaten here a lot. Nice location as well.

Stopped at King's head for one night with friends whilst doing coast to coast , I found the landlord Phil and his staff very friendly who went above and beyond in accommodating us , we were arriving late and Phil kept the kitchen open for us to serve a very nice Sunday dinner and fish and chips , the bar was very friendly with a good choice of drinks at very reasonable prices , the rooms very clean , they may be a bit dated but I think that adds to the charm , and a very nice full monty breakfast next morning to send us on our way on our last cycling leg

We went for afternoon tea after our time at the spa. What a wonderful experience it was. The customer service we received from Cristian was second to none. He was polite and courteous, and nothing was too much trouble. It is, sadly, unusual to receive this level of customer service nowadays and I cannot praise him enough. The sandwich selection was traditionally but tasty, scone’s where fresh and the cake selection was delicious. Thank you, would definitely recommend.

We where staying in slaley hall loges for my husbands 70 th birthday so decided to eat in the restaurant in the hall.Had nice round table but it all went down hill from then first thing you notice is cheap cutlery and glasses.there where 7 of us ding six had starters all of them where okay.Main courses Crispy roast belly pork nice belly pork served with a hard lump of fat not crispy. Two had rib eye which they said where tasty. One had sea bass nice but on the small side.My husband I opt for baked cod with tomato sauce. The cod was a small bit of dried out fish with a sauce that tasted like tinned tomatoes. The fishmongers was obviously closed. They tend to serve everything in small soup bowls for portion control.Desert only 2 had them one was okay I had the apple crumble with custard in the tiniest jug I have seen. The waiter in all Fairness was really nice. When he asked if everything was okay and we told him.He said he would report to the manager. He came back and said he would knock a bottle of wine off the bill.No manager appeared just left the waiter with no explanation.we where not looking for a free bottle of wine. For the standard of the hotel the restaurant lets the place down.We told them when we booked 3 weeks ago it was for a special birthday there was no recognition of this
