After a fantastic meal here on the Saturday night (fish n chips and the open steak sandwich) we returned again, the following Friday. This time we both had the Manor Inn burger. Fantastic food yet again and possibly the best burger I have had in a long time. Staff were fantastic and service was outstanding.

Not impressed with our meal. Fish was greasy, meat had too much pepper on it. Chips were soggy and greasy and peas were undercooked. However portions were generous which compensated for the lack of quality in the cooking.

I went to my friend's wedding and we had it as an exclusive venue. I can't express what a wonderful experience we had from the beautiful situation of the place to the incredible food cooked by Dave. Being part of the wedding planning was a big challenge but as soon as I met the hosts I knew that the search was over. As soon as Dave started talking about the food it was immediately obvious it was his passion and we all talk about his gravy now! Nothing was too much trouble and anything we requested Tasha beavered away to sort. To add to this the other staff were amazing and rallied around. It was fabulous that there were different rooms for people to gather and the views are breathtaking. If you want a personalised experience then take a look as you will not be disappointed. A day that I will always remember surrounded by lovely people. Wedding are so too often just another date in their diary at a cost that is inflated but not here. Affordable, personal, bespoke and authentic. A special place for a special day. Take a look!

I challenge people to find a Sunday lunch to go to in the Consett area. We went to the manor inn as our old neighbors went there every Sunday for lunch for many years. I fully understand why. £20 for two courses is fantastic value. Started with prawn cocktail then lamb roast, which the lamb was cooked to perfection and the veg was oh so tasty. Top top it all the gravy was just fab. I most certainly will give a rating of 10/10 for the food. This will be a more regular visit for us. Please, please do yourself a favor and try the manor inn.

This was a lunch stop on the way to Edinburgh. Great hospitality with a warm greeting from the young lady behind the bar. The food was the biggest surprise with proper home-cooked pub grub. I had the homemade chicken and mushroom pie, beautiful flaky pastry pie crammed full of chicken, served with proper chips and peas. My wife had the mushroom risotto which had clearly been lovingly cooked as this is a dish that needs to be carefully watched during preparation. Highly recommended especially if you need a break while travelling on the A68. We’ll definitely stop here again.

We stopped here as part of our C2C ride. A short distance off the official C2C route, it was well worth the detour. A family run establishment, we received a very warm welcome. Quickly shown our room and the secure storeroom for our bikes. The room has a great shower, perfect after some of the local climbs. The food was great. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch, standard service is until 1700hrs on a Sunday. Breakfast in the morning was served from 0900hrs. This would have been a bit late for our planned start for the next leg of the C2C. No problem the owner served us an early continental breakfast, all we ever have.

Visited for a meal with my partner. I had Cumberland sausage on mashed potato topped with caramelised onions in gravy, washed down with a pint of John Smiths, which was all very good. And my partner had well cooked lamb with mashed potato and gravy accompanied with a glass of Malbec, which she also thoroughly enjoyed. We had intended on going for a cheese board after but the mains were such generous portions that we couldn’t manage. Service was top notch. Would visit again if we were here longer.

So disappointed with what I had heard was lovely pub grub. Frozen chips and a huge battered cod - missing the cod. Pointed it out the lovely serving staff - but it was still on bill. The chips were meant to be triple cooked chips but tasted exactly like frozen chips. Won’t be back and couldn’t recommend. Such a shame

We throughly enjoyed our one night stay here and wished we could of stayed longer! The owners (family run) were fabulous, great sense of humour and happy to oblige on any requests. Food was well cooked and presented, we had evening meal and breakfast, bed was comfy and nice little touches choc on towels and mini shampoo /lotion. Ample parking and fabulous views would without hesitation recommend this fabulous place....and if my hubby ever did the C2C route again we'd make sure we stayed here again! Thanks so much for your genuine hospitality xx

I have had several very good meals at the Manor House but recently I was very disappointed as were my two companions. I wondered if there had a change of chef but was told not. Maybe just a bad day - but I will not recommend it to friends again at the moment. I will try again (on my own) to check if the previous standard has been regained.

Probably the worst fish and chips I have ever had. It was hard to find any fish under the mass of batter and when I did it was tasteless. My mushy peas were a cold congealed lump, which if I had thrown them at the wall would have stuck and have still been there today. Service was erratic and lacking. Avoid.

Went to meet one of our oldest friends for lunch. Good fire, and excellent menu. The venison casserole was particularly good. No one rushed us, and we spent a couple of hours going over old times!

This still gets top marks and would get 6 out of 5 if that was possible. Location, atmosphere, service, food all fantastic. Not a huge menu, which is great as it allows quality but it's still hard to choose. The specials board changes regularly and everything on it is so tempting but I find it hard to stray from the belly pork (or is it pork belly). Perfectly cooked on a bed of swede/carrot mash with broccoli complimented with an added portion of (to die for) home made chips. I've made myself hungry just writing this!. One tip - book. It gets busy in the evening, particularly at the weekend, and you may not get a table if you don't book but don't let that put you off as you may get a slot between bookings but then you won't be able to sit and relax in the comfortable surroundings.

After a weekend Kite Flying we called here for Lunch with friends, as we were towing caravans it was a little difficult to negotiate the car park, so pleased we did as the food was exceptional, the slow cooked belly pork was excellent, as was the service and staff. We will definitely eat hear again

It took two feet and two hands to open my car door in the car park of this windswept Northumberland road house. But once inside all was an oasis of welcoming calm. Good beer, decent food and cheery staff. Definitely worth a stop if you're on the way to the Derwent Reservoir or simply exploring the old Roman A68.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.

We visited Hexham yesterday and found this café in the Market Place, after a lovely River Tyne walk. It was quite busy at 1pm but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The girls made us feel very welcome and worked so hard while we were there clearing tables and getting everyone seated as soon as possible. My husband had a bacon sarnie and I had a ham and mushroom omelette which was so light and fluffy, delicious. Coffees were great too. Plenty of choice on the menu and great prices. Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.
