Additional retreat from the hotel bar/lounge. Furnished in keeping with the hotel. Friendly staff serving wide selection of drinks with bar menu overlooking the 18th green. Vast car park and alfresco seating (when the weather is good). Access from the hotel for residents which is very handy.

A really comfortable place to relax & look out over the beautiful golf course. Only downside are the drinks prices - wine is extremely expensive and a bottle of Prosecco is £35 which I think is extortionate for Prosecco.

We stopped by for a couple of drinks as we had been to the spa (where it was far too hot to relax with a drink and the drinks we did have were not very good) The setting is lovely, the cocktails were well made and the staff very helpful, unfortunately due to the high cost of the drinks I probably wouldn’t make a habit of visiting.

Lovely setting but on a cold day, the double glazing wasn't as good as it could have been. We moved away from the windows because of the drafts. The Cream Tea was included in our "package". Two small scones per person, both very nice but warmed in a microwave so were a bit chewy, came with clotted cream, whipped butter and a spicy jam. Far too much cream and butter for the size of scone. We couldn't attract attention to get our tea/coffee refills so we just left to go and get warm. We were unlucky with the cold and think that taking this out of the experience, it would have been good.

I don't usually use trip advisor but my partner told me I have to (he has a man crush ha) Me and my partner Paul came to slaley hall just to check it out as we are attending a wedding there in a few months. The plan was to have dinner and a few drinks then go to hexham on the night before coming back to sleep in our room which was amazing BTW!! We had our dinner in Hadrian's, a little earlier then we wanted but it was very busy so it was our fault for not booking. The food was delicious, service a little dry but very efficient. We then went on to 19th bar for some drinks and were greeted by Lee who was fantastic! We were shown to a table and didn't have to move all night! Our glasses were never empty. Although it was busy we were always asked if we would like more drinks just on time. The cocktails were close to the best we have ever tasted and Lee was awesome, we've even added him on Facebook! We decided to cancel out taxi to hexham and stayed in the bar until around 1am. The drinks were expensive but the service made it worth it!We can't wait to come back later in the year and Lee you better be on shift!! Haha. Thanks for a super day.Paul and Faye :)

We had two nights of golfing here recently and part of our deal included meals in the claret jug bar.Our menu was even more limited than the normal menu but the food was average at best, I personally hadChicken wings - I think we all agreed the best starterThai curry - wasn't that bad just lacked a little seasoning and base taste for the sauceRibs - a lot of the lads I went away with moaned about how dry they were, which is true, but I don't mind dry meat on occasion, they were over cooked, dry and tough with very little sauce. If this was a normal pub food restaurant you would probably sent a couple of courses back, we didn't. Would I eat here again if I returned, maybe, but my expectations for a large hotel like slaley would be lower. It's ok.

We were staying the Lodges and had pre-booked into the 19th hole after being in the pool for a few hours and to give the self catering a miss for the nigh - it only serves food until 6pm. We did reserve a table but arrived to find part of a wedding party had ignored the "Reserved" notice and taken the seats and table. Staff found us another table rather cause any commotion.Staff very good, in particular, Mahmut, who engaged with the kids and ourselves. Very efficient with menus and orders despite a large wedding party also in the bar. We ordered nachos for the kids to start and a large pizza for them to share. I had a pizza which is a stone-baked type and really nice. My wife had a curry which she said was also really nice and the kids demolished their pizza. The bad point was the nachos - poor quality chips in a bowl lightly sprinkled with cheddar - 1/2 dozen tortilla chips with cheese and then underneath everything else completely dry.Overall a bit expensive for what we had, albeit very nice, but service from Mahmut made a difference,

Well appointed and stocked, nicely laid out, friendly staff and a great selections of malts at reasonable prices.I enjoyed six different malts and am especially indebted to the young Polish waitress who took the time and trouble to show me the whiskies, during a lull in service, and tell me about some of the nicer ones.It was a lovely personal touch, great consideration, and done so as not to inconvenience other patrons. For a hotel of this sort the prices are reasonable. We enjoyed several drinks here over our stay including on the terrace which has a commanding view of the golf course.Great.

Original table reservation was for 1pm, but moved to 12:30 without any problem. Our food for the two of us took OVER AN HOUR to arrive (unacceptable for any dish, let alone a salad) and when it did I was most disappointed. Tasteless and amateur looking - not what I expected of the high class surroundings. Staff were visibly embarrassed about the waiting time and did apologise a couple times. The family on the table next to us ordered before us and their food came five minutes after ours! Think the kitchen staff need to be spoken to. I understand weekends are busy, but that long a wait for below par food is ridiculous. I did email my complaint directly - I received a prompt reply saying that they could not get through to my mobile number (even though I clearly stated that I wished to be contacted via email). I replied that I would be available to call for the next 4 days, but then I would be away - did not get a call. It's been almost 4 weeks since we visited and they have still failed to email a reply to my original complaint - poor customer service.

After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

The cafe prices are ludicrous. £3.45 for a toasted tea cake with barely any fruit in it is ridiculous as is a fiver for two cups of tea and £9 for a cooked breakfast!! The staff are not the most pleasant either. Sadly the shop and garden centre prices are way off the scale too compared to most other garden centres. Definitely would not recommend or revisit.
