The best restaurants serving British food in London

We were excited by the concept and booked a dinner for 6. The steak dish was “sold out” at 6pm as was the endive salad!! With a restricted size menu and cheese based theme we were forced to order multiples of the same dishes. A pity, as the food was good just restricted in options and some meat based choices other than a charcuterie option is needed, or at least 5 other main course options. The food saved this from being a single star experience, the wait staff experience was very poor. Almost unacceptable to charge the service fee….

I am the sort of person who loves a Harvester so this experience was faintly terrifying for me as I was scared I'd feel uncomfortable and out of my depth. I needn't have worried. The staff were warm and friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, there was no pretention on display, and they explained the courses without jargon or fancy terms. Phew! As for the food - well it was wonderful. Beautifully presented with amazing flavours. It's extremely expensive as you would expect for a high-end restaurant, but for a special occasion in an intimate setting, you may be hard pushed to find better.

We were looking for afternoon tea and dropped in to enquire, and what a day to drop in! I went to ask a lady by a champagne stand and she gave my husband and I a free glass of Veuve (my favourite drink) and asked someone to help with our query! Omar (I think) came back and said afternoon tea was available and sat us in ‘The Den’! It’s an interesting room with fun art and board games. Monica then came to take the order and we got three adult and one child aft teas, during this time the lovely lady from the champagne stand brought our girls a ‘St Martins’ monopoly game present each to keep and another champagne! The afternoon tea was really tasty, the scones warm and crumbly, the savoury food was deliciously different and the detail and storytelling was fun too! My husband and I have decided we will stay at the hotel next time we’re visiting London as it was just so wonderful. We had music from the birthday party next door, which was great, our girls had things to do, lovely food, great surroundings, perfect location and wonderful atmosphere! The staff here were exceptional - the champagne lady (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name), Omar, the young lady who told the afternoon tea story and Monica, you were all so lovely, thanks for a above and beyond London afternoon tea experience! Couldn’t find it. Was right where the address should be. Very disappointing start to the day. Hopefully the rest of the day is an improvement.

Me and my brother were looking for a typical pub in London, to find a wholesome place, with a very welcoming waiter who made our dinner so special, the food was delicious of course and the beer even more good. It was a pleasure to eat there.

Visited a conference at this hotel and decided to have lunch in the Artisan grill, having walked in and waited by the entrance I was simply ignored for at least 3-4 minutes, in fact it was only a memeber of staff that was replenishing some sandwiches who even bothered to acknowledge me. To give this guy credit as soon as I said I would like a table he went and asked another team member to help. I was seated at 13:15, and for coming up to 20 minutes I was simply ignored, no waiting staff appaorched to take my order, in fact hardly any waiting staff were around, and the one that was seemed to be constantly walking over to the other part of the premises known as Artisan table, and from what I could see was chatting with other staff in that area. It got to about 13:35 and I finally caught the eye of a waitress, who wnet to another table and only came to mine after a further few miuntes, it was close to 13:40 when they finally took my order comprising a drink a starter and a main. Whilst at that point I was not happy I had an expectation that I would now be served in a timely manner that would allow me to have lunch and get to my next meeting. However that was not the case and after a further 25 miuntes I had still not been served anything, not even my drink. Finally a waitier approached, who I now know to be the manager, and had bought the starter and main at the same time, As already mentioned I still had not been served my drink at this time, and too be frank I had simply had enough of this dire service and made my thoughts known. To give the guy his due he was very apologetic and suggested that he would waive the bill, however I was now past the point where I would have been able to enjoy the meal as I had pre booked events to attend. So I decided to leave. Not an experieince that I ever wish to repeat, and I understand that they may have been short staffed, but this is a major hotel in London, so you would think they would have processes in place, for example if you don't have the staff then don't open the Grill part of the restuarant but instead put your focus on the Artisan Table section which is a self service buffet, where in fact I had paid for breakfast that morning, so the rating I give for food is based on the breakfast and not lunch as I never got to eat it.

We visited the Newman arms after work this week. The staff were absolutely brilliant and so friendly. Martin looked after us when we arrived and showed us to our table that we booked upstairs. Tom was super informative and told us about the beer that was locally brewed in Walthamstow and Mike was very friendly. Would defo recommend this pub and will be coming back again after work! X

Excellent and very complete for breakfast. Last time I had the Vegetarian brunch and it was delicious! Price is good as well.

We visited this place lots of times ,there food is always well presented, hot and tasty. Staff always willing to help. 😋

Stumbled on this place for lunch. A hidden gem. Quiet. Superb menu. Healthy stuff, not just hot chips. Actual vegetables. Salad. Chicken. Friendly staff. Convenient location at Hammersmith station. Well priced too. Highly recommended for locals and tourists.

Algunos de los mejores croissants de Londres y definitivamente el café más delicioso. Este es uno de los favoritos para ocasiones especiales para el desayuno familiar, así como un soborno para persuadir a mi hijo a salir a caminar! Dice que el chocolate caliente también es fantástico. Habíamos reservado la cena en conexión con una velada en el teatro. Entradas prepagadas a una producción musical y cerrar un prepago comida en un restaurante especializado en una cena de carne asada con todos sus detalles que había estado allí antes y yo estaba deseando mostrando mi hija la comida increíble y experiencia. El agente de reservas era Evan Evans - una agencia de buena reputación que habíamos reservado y llevado 4 tours con esa semana. Imagine nuestra sorpresa cuando llegamos a encontrar el restaurante reservado sólo 2 meses antes ya no existía. Reformas de haber ocurrido 5 meses antes. Nos aseguraron que la reserva sería respetada en el mostrador de recepción y luego de nuevo a la zona de restaurante. Nos llevaban para el teatro y no se han acostumbrado a comer bien y así estábamos bastante encantados con lo que parecía ser un encantador y renovado menú rediseño del nuevo restaurante. Elegimos el vino (no incluido en la reserva) y nos dirigimos a las opciones del menú Seleccionar dentro de los parámetros de lo explicado como domésticos de nuestra reserva - hasta ahora tan bueno. Elegimos un aperitivo para compartir y entre cada una de las Dover y el acompañamiento. El servicio era impecable, aunque sospecho que el pescado no era fresco como sabía más bien como una pecera huele rancio. . Pero luego seleccionados un intrépidos del desierto que compartimos como único era bastante abundante y me por el sabor.

Need i say this is the best vegan in London!! Such tasty food. The tofu coconut cheesecake is better than "real" cheesecake. I coukd eat it all day! The fennel fritters with garlic aioli are amazing. Everything is fantastically good. Bravo!

We came here for early afternoon drinks and had a decent time, however it was a shame that the two women serving us were in such an obvious rage at all the customers there. Having worked in the hospitality industry I can understand the stressors, however the pub was not that busy as we had mutterings of ‘Jesus Chris’ and ‘can you please wait!’ When we tried to order drinks.In the end we just left and went somewhere else as their was such a hostile vibe. Good food however !
