We had a private dining experience. There was a large group of us and the entire experience was a little underwhelming. The food was ok but certainly did not live up to the hype. Portions were not great if you have a large appetite (for example: 2 roast potatoes each) The service was ok but not brilliant. The staff were very friendly but When they served tea and coffee after our meal we had to ask for sugar, milk and tea spoons. We got dessert spoons to stir our drinks which were cold by the time the sugar and milk finally arrived. It wasn’t a bad meal but I won’t be rushing back.

5 Stars from us nearly a 4 star because of the cod collar starter that was not all that a prawn cocktail would have suited better albeit it was a fine example of the dish…5 stars but 10 stars for young Roger who attended to us along with his compatriot who’s name we didn’t catch. They knew it was a bday celebration, they made it special and we would much recommend a visit…

I booked our table in April of this year so had a long 6 month wait, I thought this must be a good roast dinner if they are fully booked for 6 months, I was not disappointed!! I am roast obsessed and have scoured the country for a roast dinner out that I am happy to pay for as I believe my roasts are the best there are....I stand corrected! when our plates came out (we went for the meat combo, belly pork and lamb) I initially thought hmmmm i'd like more than that, again I stand corrected, it was plenty, the meat was tender and tasty, the yorkshire pudding big enough to bath in, the veg cooked perfectly, the gravy although normally I would prefer thicker tasted like nothing i'd ever experienced it was so tasty I would have been happy with a bowl of it and some thick bread, then to the roasties oh my!! it was almost a religious experience for me, good job there were only 3 (big) potatoes on my plate as any more I would have needed to be winched out of the pub, I would REALY like to know how they get them like that, even covered in gravy they were crispy outside and fluffy in the middle, perfection! hat off to the chef. the waiting staff were all amazing, smiling, happy to help with anything even though they are obviously really busy. the only down side to our visit was the table of 6 near us, one of the ladies (I say that loosely) was so rude to the waiting staff apparently about a fatty piece of meat, i'm all for opinions but there are ways that 1 human being should behave when talking to another human being, the staff were so professional even faced with her tirade, if it had been me I would have asked her to leave in no uncertain terms and never to darken the doors again!! well done to the staff, you need a medal.

The barman was very friendly and took our order for drinks and 2 duck scotch eggs. When the food arrived it looked great and the egg yolks were soft and a rich yellow in colour. Sadly they tasted of fish! We raised the matter with a member of staff, a very pleasant chap, offered him a taste and he agreed they tasted of fish, then laughed and moved on to another customer to ask how their food was!!’ We are always up for trying new food, but I think even Heston Blumenthal with have struggled with fishy duck scotch egg!!

Big thanks to management who squeezed us in last minute as I've been wanting to visit Lore of the Land for a while now and I am so thankful I got to share this experience with my partner in crime. The Sunday lunch was insanely good and I'm not this complimentary when it comes to Sunday lunch. I ordered the chicken and there was not one dry bite - succulent, tender, juicy. The veg were elevated and brought the dish together. Wear loose clothing because the Yorkshire pud and the roasties will push you to the edge! I heard the doughnut is to die for but I think I'll save that for the next visit - so full - but an espresso martini will do me just well 😜 The staff (FOH and kitchen) are a delight. Feel so lucky we were able to spend a Sunday afternoon here. Do visit if you're able to. It's London's own gem

We were lucky to be able to get a table for the famous Sunday lunch the staff were accommodating and friendly we opted for the Sunday roast sharing platter with a duck meat scotch egg to start and some beef fat paprika popcorn now all the food was good some of the best roast spuds anywhere but we could have done with more beef and the gravy needed to be thicker but that is a personal choice it was very good and worth the visit we also had a lore doughnut for desert which was average. The roast is worth it

After a long wait, we managed to secure our reservation for Sunday lunch. I can understand why it’s difficult to get a table because the dining room is not large. It’s upstairs from the main pub on the ground floor. On Sunday, in addition to the roast selection were fish and vegetarian options as well. Between our table, we have all of the various meets plus one fish dish. Everyone was universally positive about the quality and cooking. I had pork belly which was expertly cooked with lots of crackling but most of the fat cooked away from the meat. Excellent sides. It may be the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had in a pub. Service was very efficient and friendly. It is on the pricier side of Sunday lunches just a little bit, but certainly I think it’s worth it for the quality of the food. Problem is now I can’t get another table for like another year to go back!

Visited the pub - would never go back again - Very poor service - we were looked at like a lunatics for asking to see the drink and wine menus, was handed it rudely and when the drinks were served the bartender walked away without so much as a thanks - considering there was no one else there and the place was dead on a saturday with zero atmosphere it seemed very odd. To add to the weird atmosphere, the drinks were very poorly made and v expensive. Don't believe the hype

Popped in on a recent visit to London. Beer was truly amazing, the angel was refreshing and easy to drink. Had some food from the bar snack menu, Sausage Roll and some roast potatoes. Up there with the best sausage roll I’ve had. The roast spuds were crispy and full of flavour. If you’re in the area this is an absolute must try.

Had a special birthday trip to Lore of the Land (60+VAT) and enjoyed it immensely. Great attentive service and food was brilliant. I had the rib eye steak and must confess ordered it too big. My fault so I had to eat it all. They not only do a great steak( medium rare) but slice it for you as well. Not cheap but you pay for quality. Will go back in a heartbeat.

Unwelcoming service on arrival. Oysters were small, bland, and tasteless. Beware the soda bread - really salty and apparently "that's how the Irish make it." My Irish friend disagreed. We couldn't eat it. Fish arrived in a slurry of liquid that tasted watery. Steak was edible, fortunately, but not consistent with the price. Mixed leaf salad was as good as a packet opened from the supermarket. All in all, a real disappointment - we expected more given all the previous reviews. Not worth the price we paid, or the wasted dinner meal. Definitely won't be back.

When the Lore of the Land opened they served amazing food with good service, at a price, but justified because if quality. I have been going 2-3 times a year since they opened. Today i took my family of five there for Sunday lunch. Here are our observations: Service - dreadful. Staff standing around, inattentive and the restaurant manager was aggressive and not welcoming since we walked through the door. Very poor service Food - we had the mixed beef and lamb Sunday roast. The lamb was delicious but the beef was chewy and dry. The gravy was bland. This was nothing like the roast lunch we used to have there Ambiance - poor. Unwelcoming staff, random music. The clientele was great but ruined by staff and music. All in very poor. I will not be going back. Avoid

We were sat upstairs and could see the chefs cooking the meals, who were all so friendly and calm, you could see everyone enjoyed their job. Scotch eggs were spot on and the roast dinner was very tasty with great quality meat. We’ll recommend the ESB Ruby cask ale and selection of traditional desserts. Average meal. Beef tartare was too salty - couldn’t eat it. Lamb had hardly any lamb on it and the lentils were cold. Sides were a bit pointless. Only steak options on the board were 2 x sirloin steaks and 1 x 2kg beef rib (hoped there would be more). Service patchy. Place looks nice though, as did the dishes, but the quality was lacking. Summary as per the title is style over substance (and the style isn’t great tbh).

Visit with my partner recently and found this wonderful place. Love the decor, the in house brewed cider. Lovely atmosphere. Noticed a couple of recent negative reviews about staff and Scottish doorman. We found the staff to be lovely and the Scottish doorman was very welcoming. Kept a wee eye on him, felt very safe given the current climate we live in and found him to be very good at his job. I'm thinking people that have to complain about being spoken to by a doorman regarding their conduct most probably deserved it. Love Lore of the land.

A charming pub tucked away in the busy streets of Marylebone. Everything about it is perfect. Good selection of Guy Ritchie’s Ales and lagers, delicious food, charming waiters. HOWEVER, the Scottish doorman is one of the least welcoming individuals I’ve come across. The family next to us stood slightly outside the barrier and he charged over threatening to rip them out and bar them. I then watched him go to the next group who had a table of 10 booked and he threatened to cancel their table too. He is ruining an otherwise fantastic British pub.

Avoid. An evening ruined by surly and disinterested staff and a doorman who clearly feels his sole job is to pick arguments with the guests and threatened the cancellation of our table. Deeply unpleasant…demanded respect without earning it. Reputations are hard earned and easily lost, however this seems to be of no interest to the staff of this sub par venue.

We went for Sunday Lunch and when the bread and roast potatoes were the highlights there’s a problem! The lamb was average rather overcooked and a fair amount of fat and gristle. At £29 a portion we expected better. The beef was good but again pricey. Hispi cabbage was ok but not all our party liked it seared or burnt as my granddaughter said. The highlight was superb roast potatoes and bread with shallot butter. It was a pity there was only one portion of bread left. We waited an hour from ordering to being served which did seem excessive. The wine was expensive at £11 and £13 a glass but again perhaps I’m not used to London prices. The pub has great character and perhaps we picked the wrong day and wrong time.

Overall it was delicious. Delicious breakfast. Kind and fast service. I would like to offer one small constructive criticism - I asked to add a pastry to the breakfast, and it would have been better if they had heated it and not served it straight away without heating it. All in all it was a good experience.
