During a recent visit we ordered 2× "Herefordshire" fillet steaks.... At £42 per steak the eating experience was disappointing to say the least... At those sort of prices a business simply has to get it right eh ? So my suggestion is..find a local restaurant and do not pay silly money on board.

I attended this pub on my own for 4 years whilst living in Manor Park (where I had never lived before) and I must admit the pub in the last 18 months pre post covid has been fantastic. The staff are welcoming, the atmosphere is great on weekends and it’s a great setting next to Wanstead Flats in the summer. It’s a pub and that’s what you should expect, nothing is perfect, however with the quizzes, live music from time to time, showing the football/sport in general and friendly regulars this pub has been a great place to be.I would recommend on a number of levels

I visited with a friend for a pre booked, three course dinner to celebrate my birthday and see Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. ( Fabulous!). This was my first visit. The hall is beautiful and huge. We were seated at a table by a pillar with uplighting. Not good for my friend’s migraine. We asked to move and were. There was some confusion about all our details coming with us but all fine. My starter was crab cakes. Three tiny patties, fine for a starter, but I could taste everything but crab. The Waldorf Salad was mainly apple with a few bits of celery and leaves and the patties tasted predominantly of lemon. My main was Crispy Gressingham Duck. It wasn’t. The skin was soggy and the duck over cooked. With salad and a side of potatoes swimming in garlic butter. In the first interval dessert was a deconstructed apple crumble of sorts. Nice, but weirdly dry and a bit bland. The hall is beautiful but, on the ground floor area, you are seated alongside the busy bar area. Very noisy and bustling. The service was great, but overall I didn’t think our meal, at that standard of cooking, plus a bottle of wine was worth over £100 a head.

Came here because of good ratings here. Well… when waiters don’t know neither their job nor the food they serve, it gets kinda difficult. Food was better than the professionalism and service. Dissappointed Could have been good with proper management and staff with the slightest experience

We had the pleasure of being served by Maggie on both of our visits, and she made us feel incredibly welcome each time. Her excellent customer service, warm approach, and attention to detail turned this restaurant into our new favorite spot! Maggie demonstrated great knowledge and understanding of my food allergy, which put me at ease. We also loved their frozen drinks—a perfect treat! Highly recommended!

Pret A Manger at London City Airport: A Disappointing Pit Stop 🚫🍽️ If you’re passing through London City Airport, save yourself the trouble and avoid Pret A Manger. What should be a quick and convenient bite turns out to be anything but. 😩 The tables are left dirty and cluttered with trays, making the place feel chaotic and uninviting—hardly what you expect from an airport café. 🧹 The seating area is cramped, with spaces so tight it’s difficult to move around comfortably, especially with luggage in tow. 🧳🚶♂️ It wasn’t until after we had started eating that an employee finally came to clear the tables, but by then, the experience was already soured. 😒 As for the sandwiches, once known for their freshness and flavor, they’re now a sad reflection of profit-driven cost-cutting. 🥪 What used to be generous, tasty portions with quality ingredients has turned into bland, uninspired creations that lack any trace of the care they once had. It’s clear that Pret A Manger has lost its way, prioritizing margin over customer satisfaction. 💸 Thankfully, there’s more choice at the gate, where you’re likely to find better quality and service. 👍 If you’re looking for a satisfying meal at London City Airport, skip Pret A Manger and explore other options that won’t leave you disappointed. Your time—and taste buds—deserve better. ✈️👎

The mains were good with the exception of the “rare” tuna which was anything but. A more apt description would be cooked through and then a bit more. The desserts were a catastrophe. You’d be better off nipping to Tesco next door … for that is where the chef shops for pudding. The doughnut £6.50 (6 for £1 from Tesco) drizzled in toffee and chocolate sauce (also from Tesco). Peach matcha lassi is half a meringue (Tesco), peach sorbet (probably Tesco) and watery coconut yoghurt (also Tesco).
