The pies were full of flavour and probably the tastiest pies we've had in East London. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and such a cosy place to have dinner and spend the evening in.

I went to Pie Republic just yesterday with my family for breakfast. The breakfast was delicious, I've also had their pies before however, I find them slightly on the bland side. The only issue was the resturant itself, it was cold! It was like we were seated outside and that was frustrating, that is why I've only given this resturant 3 stars.

Reading the reviews on here I ordered from here 1.5 hours before expecting a late delivery surprisingly they came with in 40 mins! We ordered the chicken and mushroom pie which was decent. It was very rosemary-ey The mash was also nice. The gravy however, was not nice at all - it had a bitter taste. I also ordered the cheesecake which said they have different flavours and to call to ask what is available. I took a chance and ordered a slice without finding out the flavour. They sent me a red velvet cheesecake it tasted ok but wouldn’t recommend.

Hi, I went today with my 2yrs old daughter. I went around midday and was told I had to wait 20mins for my food ...felt like 40mins. Simple deco and similar to most places now. Food is nice not great. I had the chicken mushroom pie. Expected a larger pie size but I didn't leave hungry. They only take cash :s also quite difficult to find parking so if you're coming from afar please plan ahead for parking. May come again but the parking has put me off a little.

Checked opening times beforehand and saw that it opened at 12 noon yet when we got there found the shutters down at 1:15pm tried calling and waited over half an hour but still no joy. Very disappointed with the misleading information and for the time wasted. Below is the picture of the shop front. We were there between 1:15pm and waited until 2pm for someone to come and open up. Ended up leaving cold, hungry and frustrated.

Me and my friends visited this Restaurant over the weekend and we were truly amazed on how delicious the pies and fish and chips were, the pastry was so fluffy and the Hakka pie filling was spot on. My friend had the fish and chips with mushy peas and said its the best shes had and definitely not like the usual she gets from a fish and chip shop. Also their cheesecake was AMAZING! Everyone has to try it, definitely a nice finish to the meal.

Had Pie Republic a few times, and it's okay but I think that there is a lot of room for improvement. The burgers aren't great at all, so I think the establishment should just concentrate on perfecting the pies. Having said all of that, the chips are to die for... proper chip shop chips and I just LOVE the red velvet cheesecake - I have never had anything like it.

Service was good and quick, food was delicious, and came out hot and fresh. Having had this experience I decided to return with my husband but I was not impressed. Myself and my husband were the only 2 customers in the restaurant yet the food took ages to come, the service was very slow, waiters were very inattentive and the food when it finally arrive was like warm. A friend told me about this place many months ago, so upon an impromptu trip down to london this weekend i decided during my 5hr drive down that id be having my lunch here before my return later the same evening. Upton lane is a horrifically congested road, thus it is neigh on impossible to find parking- i sent my brother in to ask the owners if they know of anywhere we may be able to park that doesnt require a permit badge, the owner very kindly moved his own car to make room for ours on the main road right outside his establishment. I'm very dubious when it comes to halal chicken and meat, so seeing that this was HMC certified made me feel instantly comfortable. I ordered the hakka pie, mash, house slaw along with the gravy and a mocktail, it was served by a friendly talkative waiter who was keen to ensure we were happy with the quality of the food and service. Another worker (could be the co owner) also very kindly provided us with a private place and a prayer mat to pray before we embarked on our (disgustingly long) journey home. My meal was impeccable, it's the kind of food that warms the cockles, wholesome, hearty and comforting. I honestly can't wait for my next trip to London because i know i'm going to be coming here again!

Let's start with the service. I walked in to place my order, as I did not like many of the items on the breakfast menu and was not going to eat it. I asked if they could make a change and not cook any mushroom, tomatoes, hash brown and turkey rashers and all I wanted instead was just one sausage in return. I got told an abrupt NO!, I had been here previously but was served by the owner himself hence the service was good however this time it was not the case. I was not spoken to at all in a friendly manner and while trying to find a meal which would match what I would like I was given no help whats so ever. After several minutes of questioning what I should order, they had finally allowed the alteration and I thought I was just going to enjoy my breakfast. However, it only got worse! When my breakfast had come, it was cold. I had never eaten beans so cold in my life, the toast was so cold the butter did not even sink into the bread but merely spread over. this was not even bad til I had tasted the sausage, which tasted of lemon juice. I had never had sausage with lemon juice. This was literally the end of my meal and had put me off food the whole day. It was ridiculously disgusting. I would never go there again as their service was rude and unfriendly and their sausages tasted lemon like it had gone off. Had they been polite and friendly I would have discussed the issue of the sausage with them however I had felt uncomfortable and was not given a friendly atmosphere to speak with the workers.

Visited this place on a whim after a recommendation from a friend and I'm so glad I did!! The shop had a cool vibe and decor, the shop is clearly kept clean and pleasant. The staff were very inviting and attentive, the service could not be faulted. I started with the Macaroni cheese bites which were little piping hot croquettes of cheese heaven, so moreish I could have kept on going. I was torn between the range of delicious sounding pies on offer but eventually went for the Cox's chicken pie which did not disappoint! The golden brown pastry pastry was cooked to perfection and filled with succulent chicken mixed with a blend of spices and just the right amount of chili kick in the gravy for me. All washed down with an amazing peanut butter/coconut milkshake. Overall it was a great informal dining experience and great value for money, I will definitely be visiting again. I visited with a friend for a pre booked, three course dinner to celebrate my birthday and see Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. ( Fabulous!). This was my first visit. The hall is beautiful and huge. We were seated at a table by a pillar with uplighting. Not good for my friend’s migraine. We asked to move and were. There was some confusion about all our details coming with us but all fine. My starter was crab cakes. Three tiny patties, fine for a starter, but I could taste everything but crab. The Waldorf Salad was mainly apple with a few bits of celery and leaves and the patties tasted predominantly of lemon. My main was Crispy Gressingham Duck. It wasn’t. The skin was soggy and the duck over cooked. With salad and a side of potatoes swimming in garlic butter. In the first interval dessert was a deconstructed apple crumble of sorts. Nice, but weirdly dry and a bit bland. The hall is beautiful but, on the ground floor area, you are seated alongside the busy bar area. Very noisy and bustling. The service was great, but overall I didn’t think our meal, at that standard of cooking, plus a bottle of wine was worth over £100 a head.

I came over from Spain to visit family and we decided to go for dinner. The fish and chips is spectacular, the lasagna was delicious. We will certainly go back next time I'm over! It was clean, well maintained and even has an outdoor area for kids. A special mention to Winnie The Pooh and the funky skull beer glasses. All around a lovely experience.
