Came here because of good ratings here. Well… when waiters don’t know neither their job nor the food they serve, it gets kinda difficult. Food was better than the professionalism and service. Dissappointed Could have been good with proper management and staff with the slightest experience

If you are staying at the associated Premier Inn, you will probably eat here. It is best to book as they do get very busy, otherwise you may need to wait quite a while. I popped in here with a work colleague and ordered the steak n chips, the steak was cooked as per my request which was great. Chip were average and there was no salad although it is advertised in the room menu. A staff member bought some rocket leaf that although a nice gesture was a little too far gone. Services was good considering they were very busy, staff were efficient enough.

We booked a table for 4 as we were staying overnight in the hotel. We were seated on time, and introduced to the host (Shahria) and our waitress (Jurate). The children had already decided that they wanted to order off the main menu as opposed to the kids one, but were still give the activity sheet menu and crayons to keep them occupied, which was a nice touch. We ordered the 8oz Full House Burger, 3 sides, Fully Loaded Pizza (I chose smoked salmon and red onion, delicious!), BBQ ribs, and Salmon Nicoise Salad. Portion sizes are large, and the only gripe we had is that the coleslaw wasn't great. Food was delicious and our waitress checked, more than once, without being intrusive, whether we were enjoying our meals and to see if we need more drinks. All in all, we ordered 4 mains,3 sides, 3 lagers, 5 soft drinks and 3 deserts and the bill came to just under £80, we also left 10% gratuity as Jurate was ridiculously busy, but still remained happy, helpful, smiley and made time to talk to our children, so a big personal thank you to her! :0) We also had breakfast in the restaurant the following morning, where the kids ate free as we had ordered a full breakfast for ourselves. They loved the buffet style, and pretty much tried and enjoyed everything, including Premier Inns 'purple sauce'. Once again staff were polite and helpful. I wasn't expecting much as this is a 'budget hotel', but was really impressed with the quality and quantity of food. Would definitely recommend Thyme restaurant to others, and will be eating there again.

We ate here on our first night and were not impressed with the food, especially taking into consideration the cost! We made sure we'd eaten before we returned to the hotel on the following two evenings!

If you want to eat here book at least ten weeks ahead and place the order for your food while your at it, food turned up after 1 hour 15 mins and was sent back as it was sat under the hot lamps for 15 mins until we reminded staff it was there, we could have booked a package holiday and returned before the food arrived, the best thing about this place is nothing

This is not the last time we eat in. We were to tired to walk out, so we decided to try in restaurant, and bought the meal-deal, so we would get free break-fast the next morning. I would definitely recommend the mixed grill, ( I like meat, more that veggies :)

A lot of the time you eat at places that aren't ever going to be setting the world alight in terms of culinary excellence. I mean, there is never any danger of a restaurant in a premier inn gaining a Michelin star is there? When you go to a place like this, the menu will be generic "Beefeater plus" ready meals which are developed/specified by the corporate owners in a carefully cost controlled environment in a way that means that the end product can be replicated endlessly with very little variation. You know this (or at least you should), they know it, and still you go there. Why? well, convenience mostly. The one area that they can make a difference is with the staff - they will all be trained to provide a certain level of service but how they choose to deliver it can vary enormously. I found the staff here (including the Italian gentleman, who's name I think was Roberto, that was in charge of breakfast) all remarkably good. They communicated well, were polite, friendly, efficient and prepared to engage in a human and cheerful manner. Top marks to them. The food was OK, exactly what was expected at a reasonable price.

We were really looking forward to eating here but unfortunately will not be coming here again. Whilst the staff were brilliant and attentive we had to wait over an hour for our food which was at best very mediocre when it arrived. Whilst I'll except the venue was busy that doesn't excuse the fact that were simple weren't enough staff on shift. The problem was then we ordered for some reason it was sent to a room as a takeaway and not to the table hence the delay. Having identified the problem when the food came it appeared to have been under the lamps for a while and was all dried out. When we complained the front of house offered a full refund on the meal for which we were appreciative of and she handled the matter in a friendly and courteous way which we could really not fault. The main reason for the poor service is simply down to the fact that the staff there were totally overwhelmed by the number of visitors for which the Whitbread management want crucifying for for not having more staff on. I mean a hotel restaurant by the Excel on boat show weekend isn't going to be busy is it! I'm sure on another occasion we would have been giving it 4 or 5 stars.

We really enjoyed the food that we had here. The starters were lovely. Not fine dining but good, pub-type, comfort food in a nice warm atmosphere. Just wish we had come here for our meals at the beginning of out stay at the Ramada across the way. Breakfast was also very good. We had a "meal deal" for about £23. i.e. starter + main course + drink + breakfast next day. This was excellent value. I have written to the manager at the Premier Inn to express my thanks for the warmth of his staff who really deserve a rise for being so friendly and welcoming.

had evening meals and breakfast at Thyme and could not fault either the food or the service from the staff. The menu for the evening meal offered plenty of choices and the selection of food at breakfast was also wide.

Inhospitable and slow. The restaurant area is small for the size of the hotel. Bar area is large. Hard to tell if they permit dining at the bar tables. Our family was told yes, then went to order and was told no, food is not served in the bar. The hostess was not friendly or informative. Arbitrarily told us that there might be a table in 30 to 45 minutes time. So we walked around Albert Dock and returned in 30 minutes only to be told it was not yet 8 pm. Hard to accept when you see loads of vacant tables. There are many dining options at Albert Dock. Do not choose this one.

We ate in here twice during our recent stay becuase it was such good value for money, the staff are very efficient but very pleasant and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. There is a good range of food to choose from and it is all freshly cooked. We didn't do the meal deal but even so it was very good value for money, I would highly recommend to anyone especially staying at the hotel.

I came over from Spain to visit family and we decided to go for dinner. The fish and chips is spectacular, the lasagna was delicious. We will certainly go back next time I'm over! It was clean, well maintained and even has an outdoor area for kids. A special mention to Winnie The Pooh and the funky skull beer glasses. All around a lovely experience.

I visited with a friend for a pre booked, three course dinner to celebrate my birthday and see Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. ( Fabulous!). This was my first visit. The hall is beautiful and huge. We were seated at a table by a pillar with uplighting. Not good for my friend’s migraine. We asked to move and were. There was some confusion about all our details coming with us but all fine. My starter was crab cakes. Three tiny patties, fine for a starter, but I could taste everything but crab. The Waldorf Salad was mainly apple with a few bits of celery and leaves and the patties tasted predominantly of lemon. My main was Crispy Gressingham Duck. It wasn’t. The skin was soggy and the duck over cooked. With salad and a side of potatoes swimming in garlic butter. In the first interval dessert was a deconstructed apple crumble of sorts. Nice, but weirdly dry and a bit bland. The hall is beautiful but, on the ground floor area, you are seated alongside the busy bar area. Very noisy and bustling. The service was great, but overall I didn’t think our meal, at that standard of cooking, plus a bottle of wine was worth over £100 a head.

The pies were full of flavour and probably the tastiest pies we've had in East London. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and such a cosy place to have dinner and spend the evening in. Definitely worth visiting again ad again.
