Fox Connaught in Newham

Waiting for an hour to get dinner, we asked what happened, oops, we are last to serve again, another 30 minutes! Ask for refund and go elsewhere

Worst experience ever. We booked this hotel and they have not sent us check-in information for late check-in. We have been left on the steeet in the middle of the night in a new country with nowhere to go!!! We have sent them messages, emails, called many times, also asked booking com to contact the hotel - no reply was received. Totally do not recommend!!!

We stayed for 2 nights in the Fox Connaught and were very happy. Room was a bit tired but no complaints as we were only looking for a place to dress, wash and sleep. Staff are very friendly all the time. Great location for going around London as we did. Short walk to DLR or Elizabeth Line. Will go back.

My burger was cold and undercooked. Raw in the middle.

Food and service where good room was OK for the price .was clean and adequate as we wasn't going to be hanging around it was just a place to sleep

The main reason for choosing this hotel was the free parking. If I am honest I didn’t expect too much but we were pleasantly surprised, rooms are basic but clean. All the staff were very friendly and so helpful. Price was great value but can image it would be a bit more expensive when with an Excel or O2 event was on. So easy to get to central London too. Definitely would recommend.

We were staying local to the pub, decided to go for some food, walked in asked for food menus, went to bar and ordered drinks to then be told, children have to leave by 9pm, the staff saw us walk in with children why couldn't this 9pm rule be pointed out to us before hand, maybe when we asked for menus? Instead of waiting for us to order a rounf of drinks! So downed our drinks and went back to hotel for food.

Poli was a superstar. Service like never before. Friendly l, attentive and smiling. Lovely lady with fantastic customer service. Every food/drink establishment needs a Poli. Thanks for my sweet potato fries.

I visited the bar and was pleasantly surprised to see they sell Timothy Taylor's cask ales. I went two days in a row and the beer was in excellent condition on both visits. It's a nice looking building from the outside yet there's nothing particularly striking about the interior of the pub . Great place to stop off after a walk

I went on vacation to this “hotel” in London from February 13 to 17, I could say that our experience was unpleasant to say the least. Sympathy does not characterize anyone who works there, much less shame, even though on some occasions some of the waiters hid due to our situation, they are not ashamed. The rooms are not bad, but they did not clean our room on any occasion, even after going down for the second time on our third day of arriving at the hotel in the afternoon, tired from the whole day, the room service had not happened and we They moved rooms because of my anger. The last day we got up there, in the new room, we didn't have towels and I asked for a couple so we could shower and they brought them to us dirty. When checking out, I very kindly asked to speak to the manager and asked for a solution, in a somewhat lazy manner he offered to give me a refund but he refused to do so at the time and told me that he would send me an email with a form to allow me make the payment. A week has passed and he lied to us. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT UNDER ANY CONCEPT. THEY ARE RUDE, FOOLISH AND NOT AT ALL PROFESSIONAL AND ALSO LIARS.

Ample parking and easy checking in system for parking permit. Nice and varied selection of food and drink. Pleasant and popular local place to eat and drink. Very friendly staff

Visited the pub with my mates...rare find in the middle of hotels and the convention center. It was busy but through all of that the staff was extremely good, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and they have a nice selection of tasty beers!

Great place to say, the shower doesn't always run hot and the heating didn't work, but they fixed the issues when addressed. Very clean and the building has Character.

The room was comfortable but the shower cubicle was not as clean as would be expected.

Definitely worth the 55£ a night we paid! Pub and food was good and rooms are better then expected for the price. Breakfast wasn’t the best and a toaster wold make the experience a bit better. Had to ask when things ran out on breakfast so they don’t look after it. Don’t expect more then a toast (untosted) yoghurt, coffee and croissant for breakfast and you won’t be disappointed. Overall good and free parking with public transportation near.

Terrible. I stayed one night and was assured the parking was free. I have since been chased relentlessly by their car park firm for payment, who have ignored my appeal. Fox bars dont respond to email and barely answer the phone, when i have got through Managers at fox bars have told me they would deal with it but have done nothing and never call back i am still being chased by this harrassing car park company 7 months later - now with baliffs. Its been very stressful. Fox bars customer service is horrendous. Avoid at all costs.

We went to this pub to watch a game with some drinks in 2010. It was VERY Russian back then

Once you negotiate the intricacies of the road system in Custom House, you see the old Custom House, now the Fox. It's big, so a great place for end of term gatherings. I was there for a wake & there's a separate room where a buffet etc can be set out, tables etc. Bar staff are great. What's more, as a Bourbon girl, choice wasn't just a JD - I enjoyed my Woodford Reserve. It's adjacent to a few hotels, it's red brick distinct from these grey modern buildings. A proper pub, that also serves food - basic but good. CHEERS! SLÀINTE MHATH!

Stayed at this lovely hotel and pub for London Megacon. Absolutely loved it. Very rustic feel to it. Convenient that also a pub 😁 Absolutely lovely friend staff. Highly recommend staying at overnight or just visiting if in the area.

Almost 50 minutes waiting for the food, it was cold and poorly cooked, I definitely do not recommend it at all.

Utter dump that is as bad as other reviews. First thing is the staff have no moral it’s run on a shoestring and conditions are awful and for goodness sake don’t think about eating here! The beers were virtually all out of stock, the fridges were near empty and they stopped serving at 10pm…. The lack of stock suggests a cash flow problem. Hopefully the shower that run thins do the decent thing and pack up . Leave to professionals that know how to run pubs.

We were staying in the Premier Inn next door. Had a bit to eat, prices were not bad. Shame that it's not busier as we went in for a drink in the evening and the place was empty

We came as a group of 8 without a reservation on a weekday afternoon for some drinks and snacks. Interesting food presentation, tastes okay. They pour Guinness in one go… Nice interior, very spacious.

Really good location (at Prince Regent DLR) and rooms. Pub downstairs has a great pint of Guinness and the staff are attentive/kind. Will stay again

The Fox Connaught is an old-style English pub at walking distance from Prince Regent DLR station. However, it cannot be definitely called a hotel, just a pub with rooms. Rooms are basic, definitely in need of an urgent complete renovation and last but not least insanely overpriced!!!. Breakfast was not served and the staff seems always busy at the pub and too busy to care about hotel clients.. No daily tidying up was provived (just one day) and there is no lift - I was on the top floor!! The only positive note is its proximity to the Exhibition Centre, otherwise to be forgotten!

Checked on the website before we went, ordered starters and mains which turned up together, we asked for mayonnaise which you would think we had asked for the earth, the food was ok at best. The waiter came to clear our plates then came back & told us under 18s had to leave by 9pm so I asked if this meant we couldn’t have desserts as our teenage grand daughter and our friends 19 year old daughter (who they said looked under 18) wanted dessert, the waiter looked at his watch & said we would not have time, when I challenged this he said we could but would have to be quick, I said so your kicking out half way through our meal he replied” you can stay its just the under 18s that need to leave! We were in the separate room not in the bar area, we were not loud or disruptive, we were not told of the rule nor were there any signs around nor could we see anything on the website of this rule. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told the supervisor could speak to me, he then said they have had new staff who shouldn’t have put the message across in that way & that as long as we were eating we could stay, another employee said it’s not their fault it’s hierarchy. I would never recommend this place, I discourage anybody from going due to the customer service and the way they make you feel, we spent in excess of £150 last night which we would not be spending again here.

Awful Food was mediocre considering we spent £150 to be then told the children had to leave by 9 my daughters 19 and my friends grand daughter is 13 both well behaved was sitting in a corner with us was told to order an ice cream asap at 8.40 The management and staff are awful AVOID

Obviously under new management and it shows. Background music was a nice change I was happily singing to myself/tapping my feet, happy helpful staff and the atmosphere was felt really good. Got busy with people coming in from all walks of life which made my evening even more enjoyable. Been coming here for 15 years and it is now the best it has ever been. You will feel truly welcomed, I would highly recommend.

Worst place and service ever. Food was surprisingly ok. Apart from meatless nugget in calimari. Sold out of half the menu and almost all the wine. No wine glasses, offered cocktail glasses. Meal took over an hour to come (we were a table of 12 so ok) but then came wrong and we did accept wrong dishes as we had waited awhile, just asked for a different sauce on the said to make up, but were bluntly and rudely told kitchen was closed. No offer for desserts. We would have had better service from a Wetherspoons. I wouldn't bother with a visit here.

We stayed here for a one night during the week as we were attending an event at the ExCel Centre, we also had dinner. We arrived early and it was no trouble to store our bags until we returned later in the day. On our return, we were greeting by another member of staff that quickly checked us in and went to get our bags for us. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, with plenty of hot water. For dinner we were advised that we had a discount as we were staying, that was a real bonus, I had the Mediterranean Salad and my colleague had the Chicken Caesar Salad, we both really enjoyed it and for central London it was very reasonably priced. I would stay here again without hesitation. The staff were all very happy and helpful.

We were charged for breakfast but were told it is not available when at the hotel. We would not have booked this hotel if we knew there was no breakfast and are very disappointed. Our weekend was ruined somewhat. We also had no room service on either of the mornings (Sat & Sun). Sat there were towels and coffee/milk dumped outside the door when we got back late and Sunday there was nothing. No Milk for a drink Monday morning and no clean towels. I had to go to the shop to purchase milk and wash the cups up myself. Disgraceful. Won't be returning here

The bed was comfy and location was excellent. Sadly, positives end there. We booked for 2 nights early September. Our flight to London was delayed which I informed the hotel of at 7pm once we knew it was delayed. We arrived at the hotel around 1am to closed doors and no way in. Several calls later it looked like the staff had abandoned the place. Thankfully, there was a Premier Inn across the road which was open, so we had to fork out 140 pounds for the night, otherwise it would have been sleeping on the street. We arrived at the Fox Connaught the following morning to be told reception doesn't open until 10am. So much for getting a headstart on seeing London. After waiting around for a while, we finally spoke to a manager who told us they only saw our message that morning and they'd be putting through a full refund for the 2 nights for our inconvenience. It's been 2 weeks and there has been no refund and the hotel will not answer the phone or answer emails. Terrible customer service. If it wasn't for the being locked out, I highly doubt we'd have had a good experience. The rooms were spacious and comfy but the bathrooms were terribly dated with no shampoo/conditioner and the shower gel dispenser was empty. The bar below looked lovely, we didnt eat there so we can't comment but 6 pounds for a beer seems extremely high for a standard English pub. We slept well but woke up sweating in the middle of the night so we turned on the air con which was broken and made a noise turning on and off that would wake the dead. We paid for breakfast but that was clearly not gonna happen as we left through an empty pub with one staff member who we told, we didn't get our refund and she took my email and promised to be in touch. If you're around this side of London, I can give you 100 positives for the Premier Inn we stayed directly across the road. Please pay that tiny bit more and stay there instead of this god forsaken "hotel".

Stayed B&B got free parking and 20%off food and drink. Very helpful, friendly staff. Will definitely stay again. So handy to get transport into London. We found it easy to get to O2 and back again after the show

Terrible!!!mouse running around table.we tell to server he just mentioned ok...service Terrible, no hello ,nothing,just put dishes on the end of table and you need to do service to yourself. No cutlery, need to walk around and find them...never go to eat in this place

DON'T STAY THERE! There was no toilet paper upon arrival in our room, the carpet is shockingly filthy with stains and does not look like it has been hoovered in weeks. The aircon didn't work. The shower didn't work. There was no hot water. The bath drain took ages to drain. Both my husband and myself woke up with bites on our legs and hip. The pictures online look nothing like the real place. When my husband went to go speak with the guys checking us in he said we must take it up with bookings.com who it was booked through. Really!!!!!

Shocking! I was looking for somewhere to eat as we were stopping close by. When I approached the bar I asked for a bud and a glass of wine. No bud, so asked for a coke instead. Wine served, paid and waited for the coke. Hmmmm no coke. Had to ask again and pay again. Informed the guy that we’d booked a table in the restaurant and he didn’t know what to do. Had to wait for him to grab another chap who proceeded to take us outside. Hmmmm when we didn’t follow he asked if we wanted to eat in the restaurant. Imagine my frustration. So we were told sit anywhere. The table was one for four but with cutlery for two and no water glasses unlike the other tables so clearly hadn’t been set up since the last two poor victims. No menu. Hmmmmm waited and no one came so after a while I had to go and ask where I could find a menu. Ordered food, and one dish came but not the other and so I waited as mine went cold until 10 minutes later the other dish came. I ordered rare steak and it was medium. The green leaves what ever they were looked like they had been stored too long and were turning so I gave those a miss. Just like I will give the establishment a miss if I’m ever that way again.

Received car parking fine after eating at restaurant staff assured us that they would sort it on several occasions and now has doubled and gone to bailiffs never going to use again and food was over priced and no good

Really good food, order at the bar ,give the bartender your table number and the food is brought to you. Went there twice for dinner and would have gone a third time but had to change our plans

Came here to watch the football. Had it on mute the whole time & wouldn't put the commentary on, so had to watch the game accompanied by J-Lo & Little Mix. Thought they were joking when they wanted £5.50 for a packet of crisps and some nuts, but then followed it up with the punch line "We don't take cash". If you're after an expensive trendy bar this place is just fine. If you'd sooner drink in a pub, the Henley Arms is just down the road.

Wonderful location close to ExCel. The staff is very kind. However, they were not prepared for a crowded eastern weekend.

Stayed top floor, both rooms we had the shower was dangerously hot & had a mind of its own. Turned on, on its own...

Wow I don't know what to say.... I can say the man behind the bar and the one who came with our food was lovely. Friendly and helpful... However, the food was vile. I only ate a mouthful of the burger but couldn't eat any more. No taste and the bacon?? Well if you can call it bacon... 😳 the food was delivered out of sync. The starter, for one of us, came after the main was delivered. The roast dinner, that 3 of us had, was so bad I don't know where to start on that one. I don't think we will be going back for more 😔

No tuvimos agua caliente en 3 días… el calefactor del baño no funciona desde hace ya tiempo al igual que el secador, en el baño hace unos 5, 6 grados… dejábamos la comida y zumos en el baño para que se conservaran, se escuchan a los demás clientes subir y bajar las escaleras como si las tuvieses en la cabeza, los aviones pasar por encima son un buen despertador, no puedes guardar las maletas antes de las 14h pero para irte tienes que estar fuera a las 10…. Estuvimos sin agua caliente3 días y el responsable no nos dio ninguna solución, reclame a booking y como no tenia pruebas pues pague para dormir en un iglú en vez de un hotel! La suerte del propietario fue que no estábamos en españa sino le hubiese denunciado, es inaceptable que booking tenga ese lugar como un hotel sin comprobar bien las instalaciones.. las ventanas son de madera!! Las cortinas se movían del aire que entraba!! Una experiencia que jamás al precio que sea volveré a repetir

Was put on the top floor and furthest room away, not great a day after dislocating my knee. Obviously not the hotels fault. However, the stairs aren't great. Room is very small. Plenty of plug sockets. Wasn't the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. Bar downstairs was decent and let you take glasses up to the room, which was a bonus as there was only 2 cups in the room. Good access to Underground via DLR. Less than £95 to stop in London, which isn't a bad price really.

Good place. Cosy and nice. Little bit slow when crowds show up. I ordered an espresso martini that was delicious!

Great place very nice and polite bar staff. One of the manager is very rude to his staff and customers . His attitude is disgusting how does he have a job ? Any other day I would have said something to him but I walked away.

Didn’t know what to do when we got in so we asked the person at the bar they told us to sit down. So we did 5 minutes later they asked us to move to a different table because we had a kid at our table who was under 14. Then we found a different seat. No waitress had to go up to the bar to order. The lady at the bar took her 4 tries to print the receipt so we could sign. Only good thing was the food was fast but the food was bad don’t come here!

Considerando che i camerieri non prendono le ordinazioni, ma bisogna recarsi personalmente al bancone e portare le bevande al tavolo, ritengo che i prezzi siano troppo elevati.

The Experience was awful, staff very unprofessional, when beef lasagna arrived I could not taste any beef nor see it . When the question was asked staff would not even try to have a look or try to resolve anything and deliberately just argue. Would not recommend so many other places around , do not waste your time . Cheff accidentally happened to be by the bar , and would not even look at the lasagna, just straight arguing that it is fine . My girlfriend has tried it , and all you can taste is vegetables. Half of the beers not available , according to the rude staff taps were broken for quite a bit of time . DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

Horrible experience. Have been waiting for our food for 40-50 min. Came cold with old salad. Two people received their food and the third person had to wait 20-40 min more. Staff is unfriendly at all. Toilets a stinky as hell. Never again.

The staff and place are good. Big garden. The food doesn't come to your table unless you ask the kitchen, though.

Absolutely terrible place and incredibly unprofessional staff. Rude and unhelpful from the outset, accused of being a liar regarding a payment taken via BACS despite finding confirmation emails from one of their own staff, no apology offered and even a voicemail left for when we got home continuing to accuse us of not paying. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Air conditioning unit being held together with celotape, curtain stained and hanging off the rail. Shocking! One star is too good for this hotel.

Food was lovely but customer service was shocking! My Autistic child struggles to eat and after my partner explicitly asked for normal chips not skin on fries as he is very particular with chips, we got served skin on fries for 4 quid with no resolution. Then as the chips was a fail, my partner asked for vanilla ice cream for the boy and was told the kitchen was closed due to an event in the bar… totally shocking.

Longer walk from ExCeL than the better known Custom House Fox, hence quieter, more comfortable, and you can hear your own conversation!

Dirty smelly carpet in bathroom, especially around the toilet, as you would imagine having a fitted carpet around a toilet??? Door handle hanging off at emergency exit, 65 steps up to my room, damp feet every time I had to use the toilet, absolutely filthy room, over priced food in the restaurant, no breakfast!!, I will upload pictures and videos to prove all my points, I put towels on the floor in the bathroom and when I left I lifted them to find then yellow stained... this is not a hotel, it is a hostel

Called in for a few drinks while staying nearby. Good selection of beers plenty of outdoor seating and the indoor space is well laid out and clean. The staff are friendly the only downside is they only accept card payments at the moment otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable experience

Enjoyed staying here, the room was so quiet, the gentleman that ran the front desk at night was wonderful, he did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. The food was okay, the beer choice okay, and there wasn't any breakfast. I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent pub very clean friendly and helpful staff food very good, great service can highly recommend was going to give 4 stars but gave 5 as it had my favourite beer (John Smiths Smooth) which is rare these days. On my second visit in July 2021 had a problem with the app for ordering food and drink not the apps fault my inability with technology, how ever in the end the staff sorted my order had fish and chips not keen on the fish over battered and not that tasty. However the next night I had sausage and mash which was very tasty, another plus was the fact they still served John Smiths my favourite beer.
