The best restaurants serving British food in Upminster Havering London

I've been coming here since they opened and have been getting their takeaway afternoon tea since lockdown which has always been lovely. I have always received 4 slices for each of the sandwiches however I'm really disappointed that they have now cut the sandwiches to just 2 slices of each, so basically just 1 sandwich per person instead of 2. For £34.00 to collect, it's not really worth it now unfortunately. Also asked for no currents in the scones but received ones with them so they couldnt be eaten. Still tastes lovely though.

Convenient location on the main road, close to both the bus and underground stations. The staff are professional and friendly, creating a pleasant shopping environment.

Took my mum for lunch today. I had the Rock and mum had cod n chips . Undoubtedly the best fish n chips in Havering, by far. Fresh fish, crispy batter, loads of chips. Fantastic value. Would recommend it 👌

Had a great lunch. Was a chance to catch up with a friend and we didn't feel hurried.the food was very tasty and the staff friendly

No not at night daytime only. Went for fish & chips, it was haddock in batter,it was rubbery & chewy (Overcooked) not up to their usual standard. Disappointed really.

Went back last week and the door was closed and the carpark blocked I do hope its a refurbishment of the pub and not a closure because this is a great place to be.

Food was lovely. We attended a funeral.

Pub seemed alright and don’t want to downvote but don’t really understand why I couldn’t be served yesterday. It was just before 5pm, I wanted a meal and a Pepsi and was asked for ID, when I couldn’t provide I had to leave. Couldn't see anything that said it was an over 21 only pub, looked online today to check and can’t see anything on the website either? Plus there were already 2 young children in there.

Visited the huntsman and hounds on Tuesday lunch time with my wife and was greeted by a lovely woman who i later found out was called georgia she was so bubbly,friendly and polite and really made us feel welcome food was also superb so will definitely be returning!

Great cocktails , coffee and food .The staff are really friendly , it’s a lovely atmosphere with great music at the right level.One of my favourite places for lunch or dinner , it is unique and always great service . Gets very busy on a Sunday

Arrived at 3.30pm and restaurant still had people in but could see staff looked liked they were packing up. Ordered tuna melt and 2 teas price outrageous just under £20! Food arrived had to send back as was semi cold staff didnt seem to care. Food came back warm. During our time in restaurant could here an argument in the kitchen and heard "what they expect to come in here at 4 and then complain" obvious was talking about us as they pointed and looked in our direction. When we left I said have you a problem ? They looked sheepish and said if you want to slag your customers off maybe do it quietly and dont point at us when someone asks who you were talking about and get your facts right we did not complain - would you eat semi hot food. No. They did say sorry just had busy day said no excuse. Wont be visiting again.

Came to these lakes having been here for lunch a few times. Lakes are stunning and very well kept. I decided to try a day here recently as I had heard it is a nice easy casual lake. I went on a Friday and found a lovely swim. Unfortunately for me a group of kids circa aged 14 all in blue shirts with logos rocked up having been dumped by mummy and daddy and proceeded to plonk themselves between myself and another fella. All I can say is this place clearly does not care about the welfare of the fish. the bailiff came round (a lady) and took the money and drove off. Never checked the size of the net nothing. I had to endure their foul language, watching them yank the fish out no net, no mat no nothing to protect the fish, then they just lobbed them back in the lake. My wife was really upset and went to find the bailiff but she/he was not around. Its clear to me that this place is only interested in money and doesn't care about the welfare of the fish. I am a Carp angler and care deeply about all fish, I make sure I carry all the proper equipment and even bring along the treatments for fish that may have cuts or damage. This is the only lake I have been to where kids are allowed to fish without an adult. Everywhere else I go they have to be at least 16 and if not be with an adult. I would suggest that they bring a rule in for these kids and also put up a sign up about foul language! We wont be going back purely because of these incidents.

We had the rump steak and the hake grenobloise both dishes cooked to perfection and were very tasty. It was a busy lunchtime and the staff were fantastic making sure everyone was looked after. Highly recommend.

Would highly recommend this lovely pub, food served hot and cooked from fresh, word of warning, book early to avoid disappointment.
