The best fish and chips in Upminster. A long-standing family-run business that has been on the highstreet for as long as I can remember. The food is always made fresh, and the taste is not bettered in Upminster. There is also a restaurant should you wish to dine in, I'd recommend booking as seating is a little limited.

We were looking for traditional fish and chips as good as in our old area (I Fratelli, Stratford E15). Tried a few but nothing came close. Almost gave up.Then I tried Hi-Tide. Wow. Excellent cod. My daughter's tried a bit and said 'wow that's really good'. The batter was crispy. The chips lovely. The batter around the sausage was crispy. Nothing was greasy or oily. Don't do kebabs like the others I tried. That's a good thing. The others cannot match Hi-Tide. A bit of a wait as they cook to order. It's clean. There's a little restaurant which I'll be trying soon.

First time here, ate in the small restaurant at the back. Food and service was very good, especially the cod which was cooked to order. Batter was perfect. Will definitely go again.

Have been coming here for years, very consistent with the quality, always crispy fish, large portions of chips, not greasy, nicely seasoned. Not many fish n chip shops beat this one.

We have had our fish chips from High Tide for many years Always fresh and tasty. We used to eat in the restaurant Always enjoyed it.

Took my mum for lunch today. Both had the cod n chips lunchtime special. Still the best fish n chips in Havering, by far. Fresh fish, crispy batter, loads of chips. Fantastic value. Would recommend it 👌

Very good fish and chip shop on Upminster main road. Can be quite chaotic in the early evening, especially Fridays. They cook things to order so usually a bit of a wait. They do have tables for those that want to eat in.

Friendly staff welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food and a reasonable price. Varied menus not only fish, they have also started doing pizzas. Always a must when I visit Fakenham. You can take away but we always sit in their small restaurant. Best chips in Norfolk.

First class service as the Fish and chips come out very Hot on the Plate and cooked to perfection as to how you like it such as not a lot of Batter and they Cook all types of Fish Freshly

Very upset with the size of the cod I ordered a large but it was very small. The chips were hard and I would not recommend to anyone looking for a good fish and chip takeaway this is definitely not it

Wanted to get some fish and chips to sit in the park with, so pleased we tried here, first time. Cod and chips really tasty, fresh, great tasting potatoes and not too fatty / oily! Well packaged. Just great, look forward to visiting again soon!

Really meaty cod. Good size portion of chips. Tasty mushy peas. One large cod and one large chips just right for 2 of us to share.

Had a takeaway of which, rarely found in chip chops, lovely crispy chips and I had the extra large cod which was lovely and chunky white fish and the batter was nice and crispy too. Lovely mushy peas and the pickled onions were spot on too.

Came here early sat eve with hubby both had cod and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a tad expensive for fish and chips but it was so lovely we would def recommend and look forward to coming here again. Great friendly service too.

Order one Medium Cod and it is barely enough to feed one adult. Order Large Chips and it isn't enough to feed one adult and a child. Please charge customers another £1 or £2 if you need to, but don't leave customers hungry and disappointed. After a 12 minute wait the small portions were eventually served only warm, not hot.

As a live in carer I can't leave my client alone at all but she loves fish and chips so I order from hi tide because not only is their food extremely good they make sure its always hot and ready for when I go and collect it.

There is no debate. This is the best fish and chip shop in the country. Eat in or takeaway there is no difference. Great food, service and consistent quality.

We held a charity event for 200 people and Hi-Tide provided the chicken and chip supper. Cannot praise this establishment enough. The food was delicious, large portions, great price and delivered piping hot. Vegetarian food was great too. Throughout our preparations for the event I was able to adjust my order with no problem. I have always thought this was the best fish shop around and now it seems they can cater for a huge event with ease. Always courteous and helpful. Thank you Hi-Tide.

Used for too many years to remember. Great fresh fish and chips directly opposite Upminster park. You can either eat in the small restaurant to the rear or take away and sit in the park. Good value and thoroughly recommend

Completely cold and Stale chips with Ridiculous prices

Food was good quality and the service was good. Really good for a mid week meal and local which is a benefit.

Best fish and chips , rolls are so soft and lovely and gherkins are proper why didn’t I find about this one sooner? Yum

Cod not fault this Plaice again

The battered cod in particular is very nice and tasty

The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was crisp and the fish flaky. It also didn't stick to the paper like it does in some places. The chips had just come out of the fryer too so were perfect.

Had a fish n chip night and got it from HI-TIDE ....it was wonderful...all fish was freshly cooked and chips were just right. Everyone ate the lot.... that says it all !!! I can highly recommend this "place" !!!!!

We came here this evening after reading all of the good reviews!! We live in Upminster so it’s only a 2 minute drive.... when we got home the chips and savaloy were cold and the fish was lukewarm and utterly disgusting.... it tasted like cheap frozen fish from Iceland!! It was went straight in the bin!!

Just come back from Hi Tide having eaten fish and chips in the Restaurant. Lovely hot fresh out the pan crisp batter and traditional chips. Very pleasant service - the one thing that would make it better for me would be a decent size mug of tea, those old fashioned cups and saucers need to go! My husband likes a glass of cold milk but again it’s a small glass so doesn’t bother with it now choosing water instead

It was ok, nice fish and chip supper. Cooked well, but quite expensive for what it was. Tea was in such a small cup. A lot would have been better. Staff friendly, clean seated area. Quiet and traditional. No parking close by.

The single most disgusting pie I’ve ever had.. It must have been reheated a dozen times. Recently moved to the area and I’m very disappointed.

A little gem of a sit in Chippy, the Cod, Chips, and sliced gherkin side dish. Were lovely, go on get in there. You won't be disappointed.

Went to eat in the restaurant park of the shop. We were pleasantly served and the service was efficient. They even turned on the air con for us, when requested! We chose the medium sized cod with chips and it was a really good sized portion. The fish in batter was so crips and fresh - lovely! This restaurant with takeaway at the front has been here for years and the quality of a food must be the reason for this.

Lovely chippy with take away and restaurant service. Really good chips and lovely fish. Take out service is good but the restaurant is a cosy little place with nice surroundings and table service. A great set menu is available at Lunch and Evenings.

Took my OAP age dad to this fish & chip shop, to be honest he is a little hard to please with meals of this type. However Hi-Tide passed with flying colours, the simple combination of high quality ingredients and clearly a good idea of what your customers want. The fish was perfectly cooked, the batter was not too heavy or overpowering and the chips were just right, not soggy but satisfyingly crisp. Overall well done, it's not cheap (but what fish shop is these days).

I have eaten Hightide for over 30 years. Everything is fresh and prepared from high quality ingredients! The chips are crisp and the frying oil used is clean and the more expensive kind. The fish tastes as good as it would down in Hastings, fresh from a beach launch trawler! Everything is prepared in a traditional English way and the owners/staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Dined in the restaurant earlier and it was a superb experience 5/5. Great food,great hospitality!

Have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed, batter is so good and the chips are not greasy I had the middle of skate and it was first class, if your in Upminster give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Went to this place as it is always busy. The food is absolutely delicious however the portions are quite small for what you pay. Saying that, I have returned three of four times as it is so nice. Definitely get the curry Sauce!!!

Recently moved to Upminster and noticed how busy this chip shop always seemed to be. The hygiene rating is a 5 so I was happy to go for it.

Pescado y patatas fritas, frescos y no todos los embutidos, pasteles, etc. pero con una media para la cena 4 (2 salchichas, 1 grandes peces y una grande y una pequeña porción de patatas fritas) no te dan mucho más de 20 libras es solo una vez al mes para nosotros. Las fichas de las porciones son pequeñas en comparación con otros locales. chippies A pesar del costo el pescado es increíblemente fresca y deliciosa y el personal es encantador.

Stopped to grab some quick lunch for my partner and son, very mediocre the pies had been under the heat lamp for so long there were extremely hard to cut and so dry, this is not the first time the meal from this particular take away has been disappointing, there are other fish and chip shops in the area will give them a try next time

We looked on Trip Adviser for a nice fish and chip restaurant, we found hi tide. Asked (and paid) for a large Cod but after arriving home found it wasn't very large at all, too late to go back and say anything. Chips were ok. Reasonably priced.

This little spot in Upminster has amazing fish and chips. It is very reasonably priced and has massive portions. I ordered the medium fish and it hung over both sides of the plate! Great place to eat in or get carryout from.

I’m not sure about everyone else but in recent years I have noticed the quality of fish and chips has been spiralling down around my area. Luckily I have found this little gem, the cod was actually decent sized for the portion I bought and it wasn’t dry in the slightest even though it was already cooked when I went in (which meant I didn’t have to wait around which is a plus), I also got a battered sausage which was average and it is a tad pricy but you pay for the quality.

We had a bag of chips to share and even a small portion I said rather big I would highly recommend this for a decent bag of chips

They do a very good value set lunch but we went for dinner when they opened at 5pm. The a la carte menu available then is more expensive.There is a large selection of fish (as well as a few other items) freshly cooked to order and of excellent quality.Small wine list reasonably priced.Staff pleasant and cheerful and who seem to know their regulars well.Best for miles around.

Of the local fish and chip shops, this is undoubtedly the best and comes with a small restaurant of good repute. We have not used the restaurant for some considerable time but I understand that it remains a virtual replica of the shop with wines and drinks, tea and coffee to supplement.We buy take-outs every couple of weeks or so and have never been disappointed. Fish consists mainly of cod and haddock (small, medium and large) fried or grilled - other fish is available (skate, plaice) too. Standard chip portions are colossal and a basic bag is sufficient for two. A larger bag is also available. Other tasty offerings include pies (chicken, mince,steak and kidney), sausages (battered and "plain") and savaloys. Bread rolls are available as well. My mouth is watering as I type!If you live in the Upminster, try Hi Tide either sitting down in the restaurant or at home with your take-out. Staff are very friendly, chatty and helpful too. This is a scrumptious traditional venue well worth sampling and supporting.

A group of 16 of us enjoyed the 3 course meal for £8.75. Very clean and fresh, lovely service , excellent value.

The ultimate in consistent local places. Fish and chips are plentiful and delicious, staff are charming and the whole place has a wholesome, simple feel. Very happy to eat here regularly either before or after (or both) a pint in the nearby Taproom.

I have known this restaurant for over 20 years we were taken to it as children and now I take our own son there! You cant fault the food or service,due to food being cooked fresh it may take a little longer than normal but that doesnt matter as you take in the quaintness of the restaurant itself. Old fashioned in style and the waitresses almost look dated in their uniforms but thats what adds to the whole experience. The staff cant do enough for you and its a pleasure visiting this restaurant. Tip..go early evening as due to its size it can get extremely busy!

Light crust huge fish plenty of chips. Would eat here again. A heartbeat!! We ordered it takeout and when we got home it was stillhot and very good!
