My father in law and I arrived to find it was limited menus as the pub was closing in a few days to be refurbished, but you’d never know there were still loads off choose. Our waitress Sonia was so friendly and attentive and she was serving the whole restaurant on her own but she still had time to answer questions about the pub and when it would be reopen. The food was very nice we will defiantly be back, 5 ⭐️ to good staff.

Really disappointed with this roast today. We awaited an hour and a half for our mains to com. We came for my mums birthday on a Sunday and they had run out of carrots and broccoli and other veg. One of the waitresses said she was too busy to take a drinks order even though there were hardly anyone in the restaurant. Quite embarrassing really. Potatoes looked not cooked and to be honest the food was completely tasteless. The manager also looked embarrassed and ended up refunding us the two meals that were cold and had no veg. As they were being refurbished for 4 weeks after today, apparently they weren't allowed to order any new food orders in and that's the reason for the lack of food.. not sure why that's my problem really when they are taking out orders and charging us £20 each of a roast... £50 wasted on a meal. Won't be coming again.

Sadly NOT a good experience first group in Thatched House Upminster for evening sitting waited ages to be served, food arrived BEETROOT & PUMPKIN SEED ARANCINI was so crispy broke up on the plate CRISPY BUTTERED CHICKEN BURGER was so dry and the fries which came with it had to be sent back because were so over cooked they were dried out and brown, the bun was left due to being to chewy In all there were just 4 tables being served yet the service was so slow. We did not bother with deserts due to the wait time We were told they were closing soon for a refurbishment, I felt the quality of the food was very poor and also unavailable items on the menu were possibly due to the pub getting ready to shut down for the refurb. All in all a dear night for food left on the plate and a bad experience.

What a lovely little place. This is our 3rd visit. The staff are always friendly the food is good value for money. They are closing next week for refurbishing which I think the place definitely needs. We can’t wait to return once they re open!!

Another visit to thatched house and again did not disappoint service was excellent so friendly and professional !! Food was amazing this is my favourite place to eat and cant wait to see it after its refurb

Stopped here on our way to Stansted and we were so pleased we did. Food was amazing and Louise was very good explaining all the Gluten free options for my husband. such a lovely atmosphere I hope it isn't ruined in the refit. We will definitely return. Thanks so much

Absolutely excellent in every way our waiter was called Sonia you could tell the food was fresh, not frozen. I have to say I eat out quite a lot and this has to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time I just can’t believe I’ve been living nearby in south Ockendon for the last 12 years, and Not popped in here before, I think this photo below says it all amazing would be an understatement

The menu options was good, the service was good, the food was lovely. Couldn’t fault anything about the visit. They even wrote happy birthday on a board/slate for my mums dessert without us even asking for them to do something

I thought the service was amazing. We had a lovely waitress her name was Sonia. She was so friendly and had a really good sense of hospitality. She genuinely cared for her customers which is not often the case. The food was good too … we will be back .. the toilets need a good update, but we were told there is going to be a refurb so can’t wait for that

Came here with my family for Mother's Day. The wait staff were clearly rushed off their feet but couldn't have been more helpful, great service throughout. A couple of us had the prawn cocktail starter, massive bowl but just full of iceberg lettuce and only a couple of prawns so a bit disappointing. Roast Turkey was average, the potatoes were tiny and not roasted enough, veg was ok. To charge what you do for cauli cheese is a joke to be honest, a bit of cauli with a tiny bit of melted cheese on it isn't worth that money, won't make that mistake again. Desserts were ok.

We picked the Thatched House for a meal/family get together . The food was very good selected from a very big menu that covered all our tastes . All ten of us had a very memorable evening the highlight being our waitress Becky . Nothing was too much trouble and all delivered with a smile and genuine advice on her recommendations from the menu. Well done Becky , see you soon.

Met my friend for lunch here which we have done for many years now. Sonia was our waitress today, nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely and loads of it!! My friend struggled to finish hers. Look forward to meeting up there again soon as we wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you.

Today was my third visit this year, and both the food and service were exceptional. We have previously had SAUL looking after us, and today SONIA was our server. It makes such a change, and a treat, for us, both OAPs, not only to eat out but to have such delicious food, and smiling and courteous staff.

DON’T VISIT Horrible service. Seemed very understaffed. Took hour for food to get to table and waiter got order wrong and missing salad never given! Asked for water never given! When asking for bill took ages like everything else and it charged us for salad. When asking for it to be taken off took ages! And instead of taking off it added 50 quid! Then reduced to £29! Instead of the three pound the salad cost anyway. Never coming back and wish we didn’t go. Go to the joggers rest just down the road.

A real local gem, and a rare dog-friendly spot! The food here is so much better than your usual gastropub, with care clearly going into each dish in terms of both flavour and presentation. Prices are also very reasonable. Our family was treated amazingly for mothers day, even the pooch. Big thanks to Louise for making us feel so at home!

We made an impromptu trip to the Thatched House on a Saturday. Although they had bookings which meant they'd have no tables in 90 mins time they were happy to accommodate us on that basis. One of our party has health issues and we asked for a more secluded table so that they could take off their mask. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and we didn't feel like we were a nuisance. Great service.

Went for a Sunday lunch and the food was ok nothing to write home about.Had to wait over an hour for starters . waiting staff very good but service from kitchen very slow. At one stage one of the cooks came out to talk to her partner. Should of been in the kitchen Unlikely to go again

Poor waitress, she coped very well but appeared to be the only one working. Don't have the gammon, couldn 't eat it. Poor value for money.

Underwhelmed… Multigrain salad leaves - tired, chicken dry. Bill discrepancy - which got sorted. Gents basin taps need a repair - there was no running water! Would order different meals next time and hopefully be better.

Lovely relaxing restaurant. All staff is very welcoming. The food and deserts here is delicious Took my 2 young girls here as well they are very kid friendly and myself and my 2 girls love it here would definitely high recommend going here.

Came in last Sunday for a lovely roast with my family. The food was excellent, all the staff are so lovely. We weren't waiting for anything, the young girl who brought out the food for us was excellent; nothing was too much trouble including topping up our drinks! We love this place, we will definitely be back!

Today we visited for a Sunday roast, and although staff were friendly and helpful, the food was awful. We ordered starters and three roast dinners, 2 adults and 1 child. Our starters appeared to be frozen or microwaved foods, and all of our roast dinners had items missing, were lukewarm and veg was hard/undercooked. Very disappointing for the price, won’t be returning.

The food was very nice but we waited over an hour after our time to be seated, then waited 2 hours to get our mains. Having 2 hungry young children with us made it worse. We got our dinner 3 hours after our booking time of 2.45pm. It took 40 mins to even get served a drink at the bar while waiting for our table aswell

We had Christmas Day dinner here. The food was fabulous and the staff were even better made us feel part of a large family lovely atmosphere.The price we thought was very reasonable £82.50 we had 3 courses beef wellington been the main course and you wouldn’t have got a better one anywhere.The staff gave up their family time to spoil us and we will definitely be going back next year.

To be fair you was very busy with Christmas drinkers all in celebrating the start of Christmas so the pub and staff were under pressure

From start to finish the service was very attentive. Our waitress Ella was friendly, fast and made sure we was always happy, making recommendations and knowing the menu well. She is very good at what she does and is an absolute credit to your team. Most of us had the festive menu, which had a great selection of dishes which were all very tasty. We haven’t been to The Thatched house in a long time, but being locals will be sure to return soon.

Visited for dinner today, the new festive menu was delicious. We was also served by Rachel who went above and beyond and even took the time to chat with us she also introduced us to the vintage inns app where you can get some great discounts. Lovely pub with great staff, a really hard working team who should all be proud.

We were looked after today by Zoe and her team for my Dads wake today. Service friendly and helpful, food very good. I would most certainly reccomend to anybody. Just a friendly comfortable atmosphere with good food.

The. Meat in the steak and venison pie was tough and chewy. Roast potatoes were like rubber balls. Service was very good and staff friendly and helpful

It's been a few years since we last visited and I'm wondering why really. Staff were busy but really friendly, nothing was too much bother. And the Food was really good. Calamari was soft with a crunchy crumb and very tasty. Burger was nice and the fries were some of the best I have ever had. Banofee pie was delicious, could have eaten a whole plate full. Great place for a relaxed pub lunch with friends or family.

Louise gave us spectacular service & even Zoe the manager came out from kitchen cover & had a chat. Obviously Monday is not the busiest of times, but Louise & Zoe made us feel extremely welcome.

Had a very good meal at this pub last night , service was brilliant- had gone down a bit in last few years, but now a brilliant welcome & the 2 young men serving our tables were outstanding in there attentiveness & speed in which they looked after there tables very well, thank you very much, we will return ⭐️⭐️

We had a lunch for the extended family - 14people . We were greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome. Our group arrived over a 30 minute period but the staff were happy to delay the start. Excellent food including the special dietary requirements. At no point did we feel rushed despite being there for more than 3 hours. Heartily recommended.

Our party of 3 were greeted at the door and found a nice table. We asked for the music to be turned down as we were near the speaker which was carried out. We ordered drinks promptly and food shortly after; our server Annie commented on the fact that we’d made good choices - salmon and fish and chips. The food was delicious and served quickly with a smile. Annie was very friendly and attentive, helping with choices and chatting. We will certainly return as the menu was very comprehensive and what we chose was tasty and good value. We had dessert also with recommendations made about choice of ice cream - spot on!

My friend and I visit the Thatched House fairly often as the food and service is always good. Food, as usual, was lovely. Tonight, our server was Annie and she was absolutely incredible. It was a very busy night and she and another server were dashing about like mad things, yet she was very friendly, helpful and didn't stop smiling. Thanks Annie, for making tonight a really great evening for my friend and I.

I've previously had mixed dining experiences, but always had a general a fondness for the Thatched House with it's old fashioned charm. The atmosphere was lovely with great service all-round as usual, even if the place looked a little run down and in need of a paint job. However the food and drink offer could not have been more disappointing on this occasion. I would not recommend this place for vegetarians as the options are incredibly limited. The Super Green Salad arrived drenched in a too-powerful tangy dressing, missing key ingredients (such as the broadbeans), and sadly was virtually inedible. My bottle of cider had a strange taste - possibly from the ice in the glass. I left feeling quite unwell from the combination of flavours.

We visited Thatched House Sunday 29th August 2021. We had a large family dinner and Stephanie & team went above and beyond for us all. Everything was perfect, food was amazing and value for money! Can’t wait to return! Well done Stephanie & team x

I myself wouldn’t rush back here.. triple cooked chips was just oven chips my sons burger was so dry and felt like it had just been reheated.. I told the waitress when she took out food but just fell on flat ears so left and wouldn’t rush back which is a shame as nice and cosy inside

Excellent. Group of 5 of us visited yesterday and were very impressed firstly the pub is spotless which is so important these days, it’s well spaced out the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent one of the group had a nut allergy and they were very careful with all his food.. 2 had the battered cod which was crispy and well cooked one had the fishcakes with salmon and lobster she loved them, one had the hunters chicken which look great . I had the halloumi salad, the halloumi portions were generous. I liked the option of having a small desert with a coffee, the crème brûlée was delicious. I’ve seen some average reviews for this pub on TripAdvisor and I cannot understand why? enjoyed our visit there and will be booking again soon, think we’ll try the Sunday lunch next time.

Food was absolutely amazing- four different dishes cooked to perfection. Puddings were fantastic .Staff were friendly helpful and efficient ( as one of us has a severe nut allergy ) couldnt do enough for us .Will definitely recommend to someone for a lovely meal - cant wait to go back .

It was a fantastic meal. Food was delicious and served by the very friendly and helpful Annie and Emma. They were so kind and made some great substitutions for me with no problem! Me and my friends had a great night, nice music and atmosphere, and amazing service too. We will definitely be returning in the future! Maybe next time we’ll bring the doggies and sit outside for lunch!

Really lovely meal and a fabulous,welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I was a bit worried as I'd never been here before and had organised this meal with work colleagues on a recommendation from a friend;I didn't want to looks silly! Luckily there was no issue at all- we were served by Annie and Emma who ensured we were well looked after, checked allergies etc. Food was really lovely and the price was reasonable. I thought it was a truly lovely pub and my colleagues seemed well pleased so alls good! We talked about coming back again and bringing our dogs.

Stunning!!!! The service, the atmosphere, the food- literally couldn’t fault this place. Came for an evening meal with 4 adults and 2 under 2 and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. The food was beautifully presented, fresh as you like and there are plenty of healthy options for the kids. Really good prices too £90 for the 6 of us mains, drinks and desserts for the kids (we were all too full from the enormous mains)Go go go you won’t be dissatisfied

Steph and the team were fantastic in supporting our daughters christening celebration. They were very accommodating in the build up and delivered fantastic service on the day. Had dinner on Tuesday evening, we was served by Emma & Abbie..The food was amazing we had a mixture of meals house burgers, fish and chips and children’s meals all food was cooked to perfection the service was fabulous and friendly Well done to all the staff at the thatched house

My friend and I had a cheeky little "out of lockdown" lunch, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food (although my friend said she had been before and it was good then too).Sonia sat us at the table and was really attentive (but not too much so), and catered to our every needs. My friend had the salmon and I had the salad - which was out of this world. Usually salads in pubs are made up of limp lettuce and other uninspiring ingredients, but this one was super tasty - and the huge bits of grilled halloumi were amazing.We then had a mini pud / coffee and my friend's brownie was really moist, and my cherry creme brulee was the best I've had - that crunchy top was really hard to break, just as it should be!!Thanks very much chef and staff at the Thatched House, we'll definitely be back soon.
