My boyfriend and I visited the bell hotel today for some lunch after our shopping trip. We ordered some halloumi fries for starters which was lovely, we then ordered our mains. I ordered a chicken burger and my boyfriend ordered a beef burger. When I took a bite out of my burger it had a strange smell to it and it didn’t taste right. The burger was very soggy so I gave it to my boyfriend so that he could give it a try, he looked at it and the middle of the burger was completely raw. I didn’t say anything at the time because everything else was fine and the waiter was really polite too but after coming home I’ve realised that it’s not okay and that other people should know before visiting the bell hotel.

Come here for lunch since it opened, 2 issues to review Only one cashier in the middle, trays with food are too heavy to be in a long queue have a side till open. Clearing up after customer's is too long, I have come in and table up on table has not been cleared. Please maintain a good standard.

I can not speak highly enough of this hotel, and every member of staff that I encountered during my short, (booked at the very last minute) stay there with Bailey, my 2 year old Retired Working Cocker Spaniel.

Lovely country pub warm and welcoming, we stopped off on our way home and had 2 ploughman’s and a portion of chips. The staff were polite and friendly and told us the entertainment came for free. It was a lovely spot to stop made we wish we had a pub like that at home

We visited the Strand Tea room as it was the most traditional place in Leigh on Sea, The bread pudding and custard was home made and tasted wonderful. We chatted to the owner and he told us about the history of the area and that this tea room was an original building. Great coffee and lovely and quirky in a good way.

I like old hotel buildings with character and this fitted perfectly overlooking the beautiful church. A little dated in the main areas (toilets could do with a redec) but that keeps with the 16th century atmosphere. The single room was modern, clean with the bed being a little too soft for my liking but I slept ok. Shower was modern although one drawback was it wasn’t a power shower and it had a somewhat weak waterflow with hot water taking some time to come through. The TV was somewhat dated but it worked ok. Room made up each day I was there (3 days) and tea/coffee/biscuits replenished. Breakfast selection was ok and I did not have any cooked offerings but could do with a little extra selection. One draw back here was the butter portions were rock hard so could not spread on toast. Short time window for dinner 7-8.30pm and a bit late for me and no dinners served Sunday either. Parking was a little tricky with space for 3 or 4 cars depending on size but on road parking 6pm-8am (free and time restricted) suited my circumstances.
