Staying at the Premier Inn for 3 nights so the Crown was a natural choice to eat as it was next door to the hotel. We had a meal on our first night, which was ok, breakfast this morning, which again was ok and Sunday roast this evening. The roast dinner was lukewarm and our additional order of cauliflower cheese had been forgotten until we questioned where it was, but the server removed this from our bill as it eventually arrived half way through eating our meal. We did tell the server about the lukewarm food when our plates were cleared and he apologised and said he would advise the chef. There seemed to be a lack of staff as there were just two servers to book people in, take orders, serve meals, clear tables etc. Through no fault of the staff there were children who thought the restaurant was a playground and were running around doing handstands and acrobatics.

TL;DR: Staff made a clear mistake with our order, then expected us to pay extra to correct their error. When we raised the issue politely, we were later told we made staff “uncomfortable” and were no longer welcome. Extremely poor way to handle a simple problem — wouldn’t recommend Norwich Riverside Wetherspoons. I visited Norwich Riverside Wetherspoons with my family for dinner. I ordered a Triple Cheese & Bacon Burger, but was told it was sold out. The staff offered an alternative — a Double Cheeseburger with an extra patty to make it as close as possible to what I originally wanted. We agreed and paid for it. When the food arrived, it was just a standard Double Burger — no cheese, no extra patty. We flagged this to the staff, and after checking the receipt, we were told the order matched what was printed — despite us explaining that the staff member who took the order had offered a specific replacement and clearly hadn’t put it through properly. Another staff member later admitted the mistake was on their side, but surprisingly, the only solution offered was for us to pay extra if we wanted the correct meal. There was no offer to fix the issue or any goodwill gesture, which left us confused as to why the responsibility was being shifted onto us when the error was entirely theirs. We expressed that the experience had been disappointing and asked for a refund. A few days later, on returning to the same location, I was informed that we had apparently made the staff feel “uncomfortable” and were no longer welcome. This was especially frustrating, as we had communicated politely and simply asked for the issue to be resolved fairly. The whole situation has left us both dissatisfied and genuinely confused as to how such a straightforward issue could be handled so poorly. For a well-known nationwide chain, I would have expected much better customer service and basic accountability. I would recommend thinking twice before visiting this location, especially if you expect fair treatment and a professional approach when problems arise.

We arrived on time and got our table which was close to a door saying toilets! The food is very average to terrible like eating rubber! No customer service they are all away with the fairies! Would not return under no circumstances, would not recommend and not value for money!

We stopped for a light lunch and ordered a ham salad sandwich on granary a hot sausage roll and two cappuccinos. The sandwich and sausage roll came out immediately! The sandwich was obviously not freshly made as the bread was dry and crispy at the edges. The sausage roll was like warm. The meal came to just under £20. Very expensive and very disappointing.

My wife and I stayed here for one night , the room was clean if basic ! The decor is drab and in need of a major refresh , as is the bar and seating area. The beds were absolutely awful, they had clean sheets but the mattresses were well over the hill . Springs were noisy and they sunk almost to the bed base , don’t think I have ever had such a bad nights sleep. I would not recommend this place .

Been here a couple of times before but this was the worst. Came here as happened to be in Biggleswade on business Overpriced completely for breakfasts and not allowed any breakfast swaps and wants to charge £1.50 for anything extra… waiter, in between being on his laptop with headphones, was trying to upsell and even at one point congratulated himself on being a great salesman!! You are not :-( Food quality not good and for £7 elsewhere I also get toast and a hot drink and good quality food. So wasted £21 and your milk was on the turn too!

1st time I have tried sainsys and was not disappointed, the pies are huge and filled to bursting point, mash was lovely and so was the liquor. Ordered and collected couldn't find a parking space so it was brought out to my car thank you for that. Will defiantly be going back for more. Didn't have time to take photos, it was demolished as soon as it was on the plate lol

We have visited this cafe several times over the years and it has been going steadily downhill,so much so that we don't want to visit any more. The only good thing g was the member of staff named Olly ,he collects the food orders, delivers the food, clears and cleans tables and any food spilt on floor, keeps coffee machines filled and condiments and cooler units filled. This is not easy when cafe is full but he is always cheerful and helpful even when dealing with co plaints. Give the man a pat on the back (or maybe a pay rise) More staff needed at busy times or cafe will keep losing custom ,menus need updating and food needs to be hot
