Stayed here for Wolseley classic car annual rally with other club members. We were put in an attic room with virtually no ventilation and and a 6 inch desk fan that was of no use whatsoever. No proper shower only a bath with a shower hose on the taps. The internal sloe of the roof meant you had to bend over to get in and out of the bath. Food was ok and general staff pleasant. Restaurant shut early on sunday evening and the bar shut at seven. Many club members were disgruntled thinking there would be a bar open having had the rooms booked for the wwek end. The manager promised me a discount after complaining about the room but it has still not been credited to my account as promised.

I booked 16 rooms here for a local company event. The pub/restaurant were pleasant but the hotel was way below par. On arriving to room 12, we were greeted with a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The floor was filthy, the previous guests had clearly been eating sunflower seeds as they were all over the carpet, paired with clumps of dust and hair - the room had clearly not been hoovered. The bathroom was grimy and the toilet had been used and not flushed, there was also pubic hair under the toilet seat. The room was so unclean that I called down to reception to complain. Someone came up and didn't really look around but gave us the room below (4) this was marginally cleaner but still very unsatisfactory. The breakfast was very nice but I'm afraid that's the only positive.

Greeted by the most scruffy, miserable, unpolite person when I arrived that evening. No smiles or welcome instructions... nothing! He just handed me a key and said, "Your room is round the corner on the left." The room had no ventilation, opening windows, or air conditioning. On the hottest day of the year, this was not fun! There was a small fan covered in dust. The WiFi was not working. There was no mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cold. The bed was very lumpy and soft it also made a noise every time you moved in it. The bath was dirty and stained. The sink taps were difficult to turn off and covered in limescale. The handle on the bathroom door was not fixed correctly. The windows were sealed closed. The cups provided for tea/coffee were dirty, and there were no glasses for cold drinks. The kettle was full size, I had to fill it from the bath tap. It was also covered in limescale. There is no information or phone in the room to call anyone. I had to go to the bar area to ask for cold water and the WiFi code (which did not work anyway). I had the worst sleep, lots of doors banging. I didn't stay for the breakfast that I had paid for. The whole experience was awful. 😖 It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Disgusting place, head boards were brown with dirt, hair on the bathroom sink hahaha. You funky bastahds. Where's ramsey when you need him. Dirty towel, I'm scared I'm gonna catch something, thanks boss.

Hotel is beautiful from the outside but that's all it has going for it. Went to check in and met by an unfriendly member of staff who couldn't find one of our bookings. Once sorted, went to my room which was basically a box room - you couldn't even access the wardrobe properly as the bed was shoved in front of it. Immediately saw that the curtain was hanging off the rail but assumed that could be easily fixed, only to look around the tiny room to find dirt all over the floor where it hasn't been hoovered and broken bed slats on the floor! Went down to speak to a Manager about moving rooms, was told they are full (fair enough) but no apology or any offer to clean the room or fix the curtain! Was also told no money back as we booked through hotels.com. Incredibly rude and unhelpful and wouldn't recommend to anyone, completely ruined the trip.

I stayed here with my Son and used it as a base as we were attending a wedding in Shingay. The afternoon before thew wedding we went to The Rose Pub to watch some sport and really enjoyed it, followed by a couple more in the hotel bar which has a really warm feel to it. The room we had was perfectly ok for the budget we had and what we needed it for. Yes the room was a little tired but reading some peoples reviews, you just know youre never going to please them. The breakfast was excellent, and I got a really good deal on the breakfast when booking the room. Staff were really helpful and friendly.

Top class place, very helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. Very clean and pleasant room once again. Do not hesitate if staying in the area.

We stayed at the hotel for one night while being in Biggleswade for our brother inlaw funeral, the staff were very welcoming from us entering the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast on the morning we left, both were cooked and served to perfection. All staff were very polite and helpful. We will definitely be staying there again when next in Biggleswade.

Totally disappointed in the room , the blinds were broken the bathroom had mould in the shower and the bedroom had no headboard or bedside tables . The noise from the extractor in the kitchen woke us up very early which was not pleasant after a late night out

Pub looked nice . Hotel very poor. We changed room as hubby had arthritis . The room was more like a cupboard. Bed rock hard . Lady waitress Saturday very good. Make water Sunday had attitude like we were a bother. Not friendly at all. Would never come back

I wasn’t going to do a review but as you asked ! The dining facilities and bar along with the food and drink were very good. The accommodation ! Not sure where to start, extremely dated, tatty and all round very very poor. I had heard from other colleagues that it could do with a makeover but my experience was that my Suite !! which I paid £103 for was the worst Hotel room I have ever not had the pleasure of staying in. The carpet was stained the furniture must have been reclaimed from a skip and the bathroom and separate toilet were from the 1960s. Won’t be staying here ever again. The towels and linen were clean but that was the only good point on the room. The 2 stars I’ve rated were for the food and bar only.

Was absolutely disgusted with the accommodation. 1 cracked walls, 2 loads of cobwebs, 3 stained carpets with holes 4 hard, uncomfortable bed, 5 paint peeling on pipes and radiators, 6 filthy windows, which we were unable to open, 7 ground in dirt around and behind the sink pedestal, 8 stains around the toilet lid, 9 cracked window. 10 wardrobe with a missing handle 11 cracked walls I could go on even more.😡 Zoom into the photos attached. No way should we have paid £76 for a disgusting, dirty room.

We stayed for 3 nights the staff were so pleasant and helpful nothing was a problem ,you really felt welcome and the breakfast was delicious and really great value for money Would reccomend this to my friends and family.

This is a great place to go to for fabulously tasty food. Service was excellent as well. The menu was excellent. We had the pork chop & I’ve never had one so huge (& juicy) before. Very well cooked. Compliments to the chef. We stayed overnight & the bed was comfortable, however, this hotel is on a main road & the traffic was a bit noisy. Guessed it would be as the hotel even provided ear plugs in our room. The room was in need of a refurbish, but was a nice size & comfortable, with decent toiletries provided. All in all though, I’d still recommend it.

We stayed one night , arriving about 8.30pm The reception door was locked …we rang bell Some guy in shorts turned up as did another guy with a coat and a rucksack on his back Between them they checked us in Just appalling they barely spoke to us ….we were just an inconvenience We were given no information on breakfast or where the restaurant was ! …we did ask where the bar was …..to be told it was shut as they had done Sunday lunches ! The room was basic at best , there was no mattress protector so felt rather uncomfortable about that , the pillows were like boards We decided not to eat breakfast as we couldn’t wait to get out of the establishment The lack of hospitality….as in none at all was just unacceptable We appreciate we were not paying top dollar but felt as if we had been well and truly ripped off

Having lived in Biggleswade most of my younger life I had great expectations of Stratton House Hotel. Sorry to say My wife and I where disappointed. the room (10) was tired and dated Tatty in the bathroom paint flaking from the wall around the bath tiles, The shower was not very good. The toilet was far to close to the sink for anyone to have a decent face wash and there where old lipstick or makeup marks next to the mirror, the area around the toilet smelt of stale pee. the bed was terrible, virtually no mattress and it felt like we where sleeping on a plank of wood, along with this the pillows where very flat. The TV was the smallest I have seen in a hotel room for years. The carpet looked dated and this was the same in the public corridors to the rooms. Our overall opinion was we wont be back. The Weatherspoon's crown Hotel which we stayed in before was far far better. Up your game Stratton House.

We stayed overnight as I was visiting my daughter who lives in the area as she was in hospital - we found the staff very friendly and helpful but were extremely disappointed with our room and facilities. The room was very unloved and scruffy - a broken toilet base, chipped wooden toilet seat, split corner of the bath, rusty shower screen, screw holes in the bathroom wall, grubby walls, ink stains on the carpet by the bed, old fashioned furniture and grubby chairs and a filthy toilet brush. The white duvet cover had a split in it and the bed was shoddily made up. Our breakfast however the next morning was a better experience and the lady who served us couldn’t be more helpful. We personally did not feel the £79 the room cost us just to stay in - excluding breakfast which was extra - was worth the money, very overpriced for the state of the room and bathroom.

I think this is currently the best place to eat out in Biggleswade. We have had two meals there over the last two weeks and both were outstanding. The first time I had the chicken Kiev with a curry base, which was very tasty and beautifully presented. The chef is not afraid to experiment with flavours, and he matches them well.Today we tried the two course Sunday roast for £23 pp. Oh my! My husband and I had the lamb shoulder for 2, and my daughter had the roast beef. Both were cooked to perfection and well presented. Loved the roast potatoes and the portions are big. This is certainly a chef who knows his stuff.The staff were friendly and efficient and there are good covid practices in place. (Get your Food hygiene rating from 4 to 5 and I would happily give you 5 stars! To be fair, you may have made improvements already, as the last inspection was in Oct 2019).

As lockdown came to an end we were able to sit inside and enjoy a meal - plenty of people drinking at tables outside in the sun too! The staff were very attentive and friendly, we order starters, mains and ice cream for dessert - the food is exceptional and there are some dishes on the menu that you would not expect to see in Biggleswade. The menu itself consists of literally something for everyone, a smaller menu but still with a lot of variety ranging from Japanese starters to Indian twists on European mains, to a typical British desert! The food was all fresh and well worth every penny. Will be back very soon!

This is not a nasty or calculated review but more of an honest one due to this hotel taking our last minute booking we have come to the conclusion that if you want a good night's sleep don't come here for it because once the neighbouring rooms have finished screaming at each other you may be lucky enough to get some sleep thats providing you can sleep on the hard bed provided this is by far not a £65 a night hotel.Thanks Stratton house hotel for a rough night and the payment we made should of been revised due to lack of sleep thanks to the wonderful people you put in rooms adjacent to us. We was in Room 12 .

It was my daughters birthday in lockdown and she’d set her heart on pancakes for breakfast . We looked on so many menu’s to see who was doing breakfast takeaways that also did pancakes and Stratton House Hotel came to the rescue. They didn’t disappoint. Lovely fluffy blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. Well done Stratton House. Thanks to the very friendly staff at this difficult time too. We will be back.

Went for a meal here last week and enjoyed it so much we returned this week with two friends. We weren't disappointed, lovely food and excellent service from the friendly staff. Will definitely be back!

Inspite of the Covid virus causing problems for the hotel we were treated very well. The breakfasts and evening meals were beautiful. Very comfortable room and quiet nights. We had a family Sunday lunch at the hotel for our son who lives nearby and it was excellent.

We visited Stratton house for our anniversary and they could not be more attentive, they went above and beyond the front of house team were lovely, and social distancing was great so we felt very safe.so come on lets talk food, well i had the orange & chilli glazed pork belly ribs which were so tender and full of flavour and my partner had BBQ pulled pork burger with a mac ‘n’ cheese patty which was obviously to good to share, we really do recommend them for dessert we had a special surprise and well it was just wonderful, we will be back.

The new chef cooks a good spread! Tasty roast with all the trimmings - it felt like Christmas! Nice beef, excellent roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, roasted roots, fresh greens, red cabbage and shallot and horseradish chutney. Only stayed at the Hotel for one night as a base for a visit to the Shuttleworth Collection. The room was ready on time, was clean and well prepared, the staff were all very polite and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Along with some friends we came for lunch on a Friday in January and because it was so good we returned for Sunday lunch in February - and it was even better.Two of us had roast sirloin, one had roast pork and I had rack of lamb. We all agreed that the food was of excellent quality, perfectly cooked and an absolute pleasure to eat. From my own perspective the rack of lamb could not have been better - we rounded lunch off with apple crumble and custard. The service was good and the staff friendly.

New chef as of Feb 2020. Excellent! Wonderful to see a specials board. Excellent table service. Complementary bread and olives.

50 WI Biggleswade ladies had lunch this week. In my opinion the meal was really nice. The staff were charming and coped with serving so many of us extremely well. Will definitely be back. So pleased Stratton House is open again.

I booked this room for my parents to stay here on Christmas Day , accommodation was ok but very tatty. The bedroom door lock was rather temperamental as well which didn’t feel very secure . The check in process was incredibly slow and the receptionist answered the phone whilst check in guests . Not the best experience and highly unlikely to return.

I booked a family meal for 10 on Christmas Eve, the meal was appalling, steak was over cooked and the chicken was so dry it was inedible. We ordered champagne and when we went to get a second bottle they said they had run out! The staff were mostly young and inexperienced and clearly did not want to be there and the one female waitress was unreal, she sighed as loud a she could and spent the time rolling her eyes at us. As there was only one other table of four in the restaurant I would have expected more as they certainly were not stretched or busy! For nearly £500 with just two bottles of wine it was very poor quality. It ruined our first Christmas Eve meal out, we chose Stratton house as it was convenient as we live close by and as we as a family were not spending Christmas Day together we wanted it to be special. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and certainly won’t be even going for a drink there in the future.

We wanted to try out the Sunday menu because we heard it was just as good under the new management. We arrived after 2pm and there were two barmen. We said hello and they totally ignored us (the bar was empty), my husband noticed the same and commented. I again tried to get there attention because I wanted to ask about about registering for parking as that was common practice before. The one barman just starred at us and the other (bearded/maybe italian) just giggled with a smirked like we're stupid for asking the question and wasting his time. I wanted to leave but my husband said no, let's see how the restaurant staff are. We were seated by a lovely, smiley young girl. The service by all restaurant staff we met was professional, comfortable, polite and attentive. We ordered the topside beef and lamb Sunday roasts and they were amazing! Just the right portion and the meat was cooked so tender it cut without a knife. We thanked the staff and the chefs because they truly changed our minds after our first encounter. It will be one of our regular spots for dinning but management need to train the bar staff to be politer because first impressions matter and change the whole atmosphere.
