We was looking for a venue to hold a party ..The Pembroke arms was suggested .. I went in had a chat with Lesley and everything was put into place ..Party night I arrived early to put decorations up , DJ Franklin arrived then the guests started to arrive ..I would say it can cater for about 100 people in total ..Good dancing space at the back of the venue ..Quiet space with plenty of seating at the front ..Good selection of drinks choice . Staff friendly and helpful ..Great evening I would throughly recommend this venue for a gathering as it’s well laid out . Either to sit quietly or to hold a party 😊

*Under New Ownership* I used to pop my head into this pub and leave every time a new owner took the pub on as it was generally a poorly run pub. The new owners who have took the pub on circa Nov 23 have changed all of this. The pub now has decent beers, decent decor, and the owners are more meticulous over who can drink there, making it a much more relaxing venue for an ale, a lager, or whatever you fancy, with a few decent whiskies available. From a discussion with the landlady it appears that the new owners have a lot of experience running well known pubs nearby, which shows. I am glad the pub is on the up and Biggleswade has an alternative ‘real pub’ to visit 👍🏻🙂

So I came into this pub a when they first took over and the atmosphere was amazing, having been in with the previous owners who yet again brought an amazing atmosphere. However the lights now are as they were and very bright for what it needs I've since been in with the new owners and had a couple of ok nights but generally it's a very bad experience. I've been in twice more including tonight and had a very poor experience. Let's talk about the last couple of visits, last time it was empty and cold because the doors were all propped open and it took 10 minutes to get a pint because the staff were outside and then the manager came in and poured himself a beer that wasn't for sale from a can. Today I visited to have a few beers and found the owner again to be rude, I spoke to him and made conversation and had very abrupt and rude answers and then my friends got the same. Let's get a beer and head outside, only to find most beers and cider off and then only 5 minutes later I had to return because the fosters was cloudy. To be fair I I thought we'd had a good addition to the town and I know they'd tried to bring it alive again but it feels like the owner has now given up and it's actually embarrassing to turn up when you receive the bad attention, quiet atmosphere and no friendly talkative staff and the increasing lack of stock. Unless the owner backs up his attitude and actually tried to get the place alive, I will not be back it seriously is lacking in attitude, stock and customers.

My husband and I decided to come and visit for a Sunday roast this afternoon, after we heard that there was talk of a vegan roast option available. We called to check that our dietary requirements were doable and headed on over. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and got drinks at the bar. We were then seated for our meal, being able to choose our preferred table. We tucked ourselves away at the back and ordered our food. We had a breaded mushroom starter which was really quite delicious. It came with a tasty garnish and freshly warmed bread. Our main followed and we were completely floored by how amazing it looked! We had loads, and I mean loads, of veggies between us, our own personal gravy pots, (this is important, as sharing gravy has started wars in our household.), a flavourful nut roast and the roasties were on point. The staff were so attentive and friendly, there was live music for us to enjoy and cold beer and cider (also vegan) to enjoy. I really can't fault our experience, everything was brilliant. We haven't had a roast dinner that wasn't homemade since we chose vegan lifestyle over a year ago. THANK YOU Pembroke Arms!! Two happy vegan bellies. You nailed it!

Went for mothers day not the best.....the chief was heard being rude to waitressing staff in the way he spoke to them. Food was ok not the best. No thought for children on the menu ....I am all for mine having the same as us in smaller portion but no suitable starters for them or pudding ...majority had alcohol in them ....not even a choice of simple bowl of ice cream. For some reason I cannot reply to the owners response ....I do believe your staff worked really hard especially the waitressing staff they didn't deserve to be spoken to rudely by the chef. However with the puddings we did ask for a bowl of ice cream but were told they didn't have that on the menu?

If quantity of food is your thing, this will be right up your street. If you prefer quality, avoid this place. My friends had supposed Mexican meals, which transpired to be what looked like 10 tortilla wraps each, plus a pile of onion and peppers. Needless to say, they weren't impressed. My fish and chips meal appeared to be out of a packet. The fish "batter" was flat and sickly. Had to chase down the waitress a number of times for various things that should've been intuitive. Won't be eating here again.

Our family had our Christmas dinner at the Smoke Hut (Formerly The Pembrooke Arms) and could not have been more disappointed with the quality of the food offered for the £54.95 a head we paid.StartersThe pate had the appearance and taste of the pate supermarkets sell. The soup was ok and but I wouldn't be surprised if it came straight from a canPotted shrimps were served in individual ramekins which I'm sure I've seen in Asda!MainsThe turkey looked as though it had just been pulled off the carcass, there was not a slice of breast in sight. just lumps of dry overcooked meat. The beef was ok although a little dry and sliced too thickThe gravy and roast potatoes were the stars of the show. The yorkshire puds served with the beef were obviously Aunt Bessie's or similar. We were served new potatoes which had been so far over boiled (or kept warm in the hot cooking water) that they were just an unedible mush inside the skins. The stuffing balls were uncooked in the middle although nice and crispy on the outside. All the veg was served in a separate dish and consisted of sprouts which were a horrid dark green colour due to being over boiled as was the broccoli which was served with overcooked cauliflower and some sort of bread/cheese sauce. The mashed swede and carrot were the only decent veg.Things looked up a shade when desert was served, mainly because they were cold and obviously purchased from iceland or somewhere similar. The cheese and biscuits were excellent! We had to wait nearly an hour from arriving to have our starters served and then nearly as long between courses. This was due to there only being one waitress who was undoubtedly doing her best and can't be faulted. All in all this was the worst value for money meal I can remember enduring. I wouldn't be surprised if the regular chef was enjoying his Christmas elsewhere and somebody else had stepped in to try and do the cooking. It all had the feel of the owner buying cheap and ready made from iceland or a cheap catering wholesaler and charging £54.95 a head for it and then maximising his profit by only having one (overworked) waitress on duty.I know this is not a good review and please only see it as a review of the Christmas dinner and not the regular Smoke Hut menu. I did eat there the week before Christmas (we had a burger and hot dog) which although noting to bother writing a review about was acceptable although a bit overpriced.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We came here in 2015 for Christmas dinner and had a fantastic meal, but halfway through 2016 we were informed the owners had changed hands, leaving us slightly sceptical about what it would be like this year. Wanting to give the new owners a fair chance, we decided to keep our booking for 2016. Unfortunately, we couldn't have had a more disappointing experience on what was supposed to be a lovely day. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with soggy canapés that fell apart in your hands, meaning they were clearly frozen. When seated to our table - there was eleven of us, so we expected to be seated away from the bar. However, we were shoved into a small space in the bar area that provided nobody with enough room. We constantly had people squeezing past us wanting to go to the toilet. After quite a wait, our variety starters arrived, which received a mixed reception. The pâté on toast and melon with parma ham starters were definitely the nicest, but this is probably because they weren't homemade. The potted prawns in melted butter starter had clearly been frozen and consequently reduced to slush, which actually left a few of our party feeling incredibly ill. Following our starter came over an hour's wait for the anticipated Christmas dinner, which varied from turkey or roast beef. As we were left waiting for so long, we expected the delay to be worth it, which sadly wasn't the case. There were very few complaints about the turkey, but the minuscule portions of roast beef were dry, overcooked and cold. The roast potatoes had surprisingly managed to arrive burnt and cold. They had even gone through the effort to try and disguise this by placing them face down, hoping we wouldn't notice. Our vegetables - carrots, swede, red cabbage, broccoli cheese and brussels arrived separately and were also cold. This below standard Christmas dinner left a lot of plates full of food at the end. The desserts also received mixed feelings. The chocolate orange bomb was easily the most appetising, but we expected this wasn't homemade. The Christmas pudding was underwhelming and smothered in far too much brandy, making it virtually impossible to finish. The cheese board was fine, but this only involved opening a few packets. To conclude, even the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the bar and serving staff wasn't enough to counteract our overly disappointing meal. At £55 per person, we would only have valued the meal at £30 each, if we were being generous. We will not be returning to The Smoke Hut again.

The chips were over cooked, greasy and had no potato in them. The meat was so over cooked it was like leather. It was absolutely awful. No Manager was around, he was probably hiding. Leaving the poor waiter & waitress to deal with lots & lots of complaints. I felt so sorry for them.I will never visit the Smoke Hut again.

The fillet steak was perfect & the Baileys cheesecake was spot on, in fact the whole night was stunning ! Couldn't fault the staff, Gemma and James were so attentive, but without being over the top, highly recommended

Visited here on a Sunday. Efficient friendly service. Good sized portions. Food is standard pub fare but very good value for the price. Have paid more for similar food in other places so would recommend this.

The drinks were lovely once we finally got them (cappuccino & hot chocolate) but the queues were really long. The cafe is very light and airy and they were lots of seating available.

First time visiting in a while. It was nice. Everyone got what they expected. No complaints. I had the spicy beef burger which was good. Big portion so worth the money.
