Sunflower Cafe in South Cambridgeshire

Extortionate prices on everything in the restaurant, we were even told where to sit, we were not asked if the location of the table was OK, we had dogs walking passed us even though we were not in the dog area, the noise was horrific, will not be going back.

Every visit to Scotsdale’s is welcomed even more with a visit to their Sunflower Cafe. Scotsdale’s is currently undergoing building work to the exterior & eventually to the interior, which is very exiting & positive. My go to dish to have at the Sunflower Cafe is Jacket Potato with Cheese & Beans.

My wife and I called in for a light lunch. We ordered two sandwiches, one piece of cake and two coffees. I wouldn’t mind it being £27 if the quality matched the price. My coronation chicken was completely tasteless, I tasted no spice whatsoever. Personally I don’t want salad and crisps with a sandwich. My wife asked for granary bread and got wholemeal which seemed as if it was a few days old. This place has always been expensive but they seem to think that they are better than they are. I really don’t think I will bother to give them any more money.

Awfull as we are elderly we don't eat much ,so ordered 2 kids meals sausage chips & coke 2 people £17.20. It was awfull a few burnt hard crispy chips ,undercooked small sausage spoonful beans, scotsdale if you think you can serve up crap like this without any complaint ,think again ,look into who is in kitchen serving this poor food ,THIS IS HONEST REVIEW of our experiance 3/1/24 , we should of taken photo but forgot to , never never will we eat at scotsdale sunflower cafe shelford again ,horningsea fordham OK, only shelford is disappointing.

Despite being a Sunday before Christmas, with a fairly long queue before getting to sit I would still recommend here. The staff were clearly under pressure when we visited at 12:45, despite that the queue wasn’t too long. The staff were exceedingly efficient, seating customers as quickly as they could. Once seated you went to order, the food was its usual excellent quality in spite of the rate customers were being served. All in all the cafe as running like a well oiled machine and the staff were friendly and very polite. A credit to the Rayner family and the business!

This is the worst place I have ever taken for lunch. I can only speak for my wife and myself but the food we ordered was nothing short of a disgrace. I ordered a simple Egg , Ham and Chips, when the food was served I had 2 fried eggs on 3 slices of very thin slices of ham , the eggs was dripping in grease on top of the thin ham so the ham soaked up the grease to make the ham un eatable it also come with a pot of cold garden peas . The chip were served separately but when I tipped them out off the container onto the plate 80% of them were overcooked hard and burnt so impossible to eat , you would never think that such a easy dish could be messed up so badly in presentation and taste which I could not eat . The wife ordered a Bacon & Cheese Panini which came with chips again the chips were 80% burnt , overcooked and inside the Panini it was very difficult to fined the cheese. One friend ordered a Ham & Mustard sandwich with chips which I did notice were again overcooked and the bread of the sandwich was very thick and although she never said anything I noticed most of the chips were left untouched and quite a large part of the sandwich was left . Another friend ordered chicken pie which I must admit looked the best and was all eaten.

We come here once a month for lunch and always find the staff very helpful. I usually bring my dog and couldn't recieve better customer service and help . The restaurant staff always direct us in a friendly manner to a dog friendly table and offer to help. They also bring him a bowl of water and make a fuss of him . We usualy have a realy positive experience with all the food . The one time we found a piece of cake a bit dry the staff quickly let us choose something else when we brought it to their attention .

Called in unexpected found table straight away. Excellent customer service varied menu competitive prices good quality food. Always sets high standards. Thoroughly recommend

Don't order sandwiches. Bread awful and served as doorsteps. Generous salmon filling but massive chunky slices of poor quality bread

We went today for an afternoon tea as a group of six, with babies. We pre-booked, and the staff made sure we had a table with plenty of space around it for the pushchairs. We were given a very warm welcome. The afternoon tea itself was delicious and brilliant value for money. Finger sandwiches, a huge scone, and three cakes! Service was perfectly paced. I've been in the last couple of weeks for lunch too and found the portions huge and, again, great value. I will absolutely be going back soon.

Pretty shocking breakfast this morning, been coming here for 20 years I will not be back, almost inedible full English breakfast, burnt sausages, burnt fried bread, and boiled mushrooms !!! my partners was no better with factory scrambled egg that looked like it had been sitting for hours, such a shame this place used to be amazing.

Scotsdales cafe Shelford & horningsea menu is so interesting ,very poor pasty ,sausage roll with chips, sausage mash , come on scotsdale customers don't want al ar cart just a more interesting choice.

Have been using the cafe for over 30 years, but we are stooping to a new low. The menu is restricted and extremely expensive. We visited for lunch today but no white bread available for sandwiches. Hardly any staff to clean tables, and even when the tables were cleared. no clensing took place. Food scraps were left on the table, and much more on the floor. Great Shelford is such a contrast to Horningsea, perhaps the staff should be taken there for training.

We heard how nice the Christmas decorations were, so come to see. We was not disappointed we spent a few hours looking around and bought some new things. It was lunchtime so we had a meal in the cafe. We all chose something different. I had a hot meal, sausage and mash potato. Unfortunately it was just warm. They did try to heat it up. Not as hot as I expected to be. The rest of the food was great. The store was very large. We will be back.

Absolutely awful, rude staff, no food, we asked for a scone she pointed to them then when we helped ourselves she asked which ones we had touched, only the ones we took with the tongs she then made a big thing about removing the plate...

Should have known better really as Father Christmas was at garden centre but thought we’d have a cuppa and something to eat.Entered and saw long long queue and a sign being put up saying Lunch Service Over.But we joined the queue. Then we looked around - tables pushed together, lots of food thrown on the floor, piles of used crockery on many tables - the place looked like St Trinians after a party. Then we noticed a total lack of staff clearing the tables or clearing the floors.We decided to leave.

Visited Friday to meet a friend. Very limited menu. Ended up having an over priced sandwich, dry bread and sliced rubbery cheese. The soup was luke warm. The waiter dumped it on the table and then disappeared, I then had to go and find someone...

Cannot fault this cafe. It's well laid out with plenty of seating. The staff are polite. Breakfasts available, light snacks, hot meals and a large range of cakes and drinks.

Was sent email yesterday 2. /11/20 saying Xmas menu available as from 2 need Nov ??? But they are closed Mr Rayner I wish you would get organised ,yes we are in covid times but your email newsletters are outdated before you send them ????

I have been going to Scotsdale garden centre at Great Shelford for nearly 23 years and have loved eating in the restaurant, continuing to go back even after moving away from the area. The food was always good and choice very good too. Just lately...

Visited today- limited menu on offer but that is totally understandable given the circumstances. Lots of signage, 2 metre signs on the floor, hand gel on the way in and out, laminated menus but thought the allocated table numbers were so much easier to navigate...

It’s 10.20am & have been waiting in the queue for a coffee for 25mins so far! The system in place is clearly unbelievably not working! What absolute terrible terrible disorganised chaos, the service is just disgusting. Whoever is managing this restaurant clearly not up to...

We regularly visit the cafe, normally for a lunch at weekends. Felt slightly different this week. My observations are the paper menus handed out adhoc perhaps need to be plastic, so that they can be cleaned. In light of the current health guidance not ideal!...

This cafe has deteriorated since our last visit .watered down soup poor directions and queues especially to complain to the manager.Will not be returning and advising friends and family to go elsewhere unless vast improvements are made

To some degree of course what you choose makes a difference. I had a toasted sandwich and the best that could be said was that it was "OK" but was - at most - warm when delivered. My companion thought the soup excellent so there it is! The staff were lovely and though busy there was no wait to get served. The problem was that the room stank - presumably of fish rather than anything worse.

This cafe is always so busy I thought that might be a good indicator of how good it must be. I must say I found it disappointing. The prices are quite high, difficult to get served which I think is why the ques are so long. Waited 5 minutes to get a slice of cake then another 5 to get a coffee. The you go somewhere else to pay so another que! Difficult to find a table. Not sure I would bother again.

My Husband and I had a very enjoyable lunch at the Sunflower Café today. We have not been for several months as do not live in the area, but we went along and chose the steak and ale pie with new potatoes, selection of fresh vegetables and gravy. It was hot, tasty and delicious ! Nice Americano too. We will return again when we can.M & M from Hertfordshire

Debido al continuo deterioro de la calidad y el servicio, no he estado en el café por un tiempo. Al estar fuera en Navidad, pensamos en darle otra oportunidad y fuimos a desayunar, y no podía creer lo que vi. Ahora han cambiado el proceso de un desayuno estándar de 5 artículos a un enfoque escalonado, lo que significa que debe pagar por las cosas que no le gustan antes de poder elegir entre las cosas que hace.Por ejemplo, un desayuno de 5 artículos incluye huevos, pero si quiero papas fritas, ¡tengo que comprar un desayuno de 6 artículos! En un momento en que el desperdicio de alimentos es una preocupación importante, el enfoque es absolutamente ridículo. No solo estoy pagando por alimentos que no me gustan, sino que los voy a tirar. I have visited twice this month with my children, 5 months old and 22 months old, on my first visit I asked for a sausage roll to be heated up and was told there is a microwave now for customers, I spoke to who I believed was a manager at the till who then advised they still heat them in the kitchen, obviously the girl behind the counter couldn’t be bothered. Today another disappointing visit, food being heated up was forgotten about with no apology, there’s never anyone around to serve cakes but extremely difficult for customers to serve themselves, when I asked a member of staff she said no she couldn’t and walked off, it use to be a nice trip with the children, feeding the fish, pop to the cafe for lunch, but it’s way too much hard work with two young children, with staff being so unhelpful, food not turning up and having to then find someone to ask. I’ll be visiting Scotsdales but not the cafe unless things dramatically change, awful experience, not surprised they offer alcohol now, it’s needed after the service in there!

We were a bit early so not all items were available. The selection was still very good and the quality is just as good. The prices are very reasonable. The coffee is a very nice blend.

We came here yesterday 4/12, after our first visit was faultless, this time my parents were with us, they had lasagna me and my partner had toasties, to whoever makes these 10/10 thankyou so much for making our visit enjoyable once again we knew it was going to be busy but really didnt have to wait long at all. Everything fresh, the ladies out the front do an amazing job from ordering to serving, will most definatly be back again,, thankyou scotdales and merry Christmas.

Not just a garden centre its truly amazing. Although it takes about 1 hour to get there it's worth it. Prices are good, great resturant. Good range of products and the staff are very helpful

We came here for lunch today. Waiting queuing to order our lunch was advise that it is delayed but not how long. Thankfully as we were with two people with mobility issues we found a table and got our drinks and waiting for food to be able to be ordered.

Estábamos esperando 2 horas por 2 tostadas y finalmente salió, ¡pero estaba muy frío en el medio! ! No es un buen lugar para ir! !

Visited yesterday and waited 40 minutes for some toasties for them to get our order wrong. The guy then dropped our food on the table used his hands to scoops them up and try to get us to accept the same toastie. I then went up to the tills to have the same dirty cold toastie that the guy had just had his hands all over minus the crisps that he had scooped up re served to me. I had to ask for a refund in the end. While waiting for a refund a young girl with long brunette hair who was wearing her hair in a low pony tail was saying how the next customer to moan will get a punch in their face. I think staff should be trained basic customer service and food hygenine.

Just want to say my family we're awestruck with how hard the Cafe staff worked today . With the crowds that came for Santa's arrival we knew the cafe was always going to be heaving. As we waited we watched the staff coping so well carrying those heavy trays but always polite with a smile. The food and service were both great, against all the odds with the hundreds that must've passed through your cafe today. Well done all you should be proud. Massive thanks Scotsdale's we had a lovely day . (Santa's arrival with the horse and coach was just wonderful by the way )

Loved the restaurant; first time my husband and I had visited but our friends had been before; good selection and well organised

Had a half chicken lunch... was tasty and really big portion could not even finish it. Thank you. :)

First time visiting the Scotsdale cafe in a while, place was absolutely rammed on a weekday , queues out the door , entrance to the cafe cluttered with trolleys of shopping , grannies falling over each other with walkers , the prices are so expensive now , 2 burgers 2 drinks nearly £30 , the food was disgusting , the burger was dry and flaking , with the most weird taste , tasted nothin like meat , maybe it was a vegan burger ? , tiny metal cup of deep fried oven chips , dinghy scraps of salad , slop of weird tasting cheese , bacon was sub par , hot drinks was cold by the time the food arrived . Won’t participate in this cafe again , McDonald’s up the road is cheaper and better burgers .

Went for lunch today for the first time... and will be the last.i ordered two burger meals at almost 11 quid each I was expecting something tasty..... the burger if you can call it that was absolutely awful. Didn’t taste of meat and felt like I was chewing on rubber. Was super busy so understand the queuing and was served quickly. The ladies doing the teas and coffees clearly don’t like their job as not even a glimmer of a smile from them.

Sadly, this visit to Scotsdales Cafe was an underwhelming one. Whilst there's plenty of selection in cakes, desserts and other foods, we found the chocolate cake to be stodgy and their scones heavy and unfulfilling. It looks pleasing on the eye, but regrettably it was a different story. The filter coffee was bitter and less hot than I'd want. The cafe itself had trays and plates scattered over tables which weren't collected. Frankly, it looked messy. Staff appeared to be shilly-shallying about tidying up and there was some confusion too and the tea point. Probably somewhere we won't revisit.

I ate lunch in Oct 2019 on a busy Saturday. Very long queue, very stressed staff. I had jacket potato, prawns and salad. Prawn Marie Rose sauce was awful, more like chilli Mayo. At the bottom of my salad I found a piece of cucumber skin that had all the centre flesh nibbled out, teeth marks very obvious, it seems my salad had been scraped off some one else's plate and re-served. Appalling, I will never eat or drink there again.

Huge queue behind me only one server. Person in front of me ordered salad bar. I timed the server 6 minutes to put everything on the ladies plate she wanted. In that time at least 4 other people’s orders could have been taken. Salad bar great idea but not in its current form it needs to be self service. Small bowl and large bowl

Been going to the cafe for over 25 years when it was originally very small but excellent. However over the last year gone really done hill and I think that's because it's now too large with an extra two extensions and renovation. The queue to order food was exceptionally long last Saturday and on top of that so was the quue for beverages and then to pay. When the sandwiches arrived the presentation was appaulling bread just cut in half normally quarter and with half the filling hanging out of the bread, the salad was just a bit of chopped up iceberg lettuce noething else and a few crisps. I had my elderly parents with me and had to cut the sandwiches into quarters and re-arrange the filling. Condiment bottle were empty and no salt and pepper on the table. Crockery was a miss match and cutlery dirty. Sorry to sound so negative but I just had to write this review as something needs to be addressed to reflect the increase in prices. Before you know there will be another extension as I saw there were already table outside and along the covered pathway and in front of the door which goes to the outside. We wont be going back for a while as now there are much better cafe' in the area. Scotsdale please take note.

Sunday afternoon shop at Scotsdales, we stopped in the cafe for a pot of tea and cake. The slices of cake are huge, one is enough for two! They also do boxes if you can’t manage to eat them all!

My wife and I have been visiting this excellent garden centre for many years now; we always eat in their excellent cafe, and always have the same dishes as we found their baked potatoes (with salad) were fab.

Lovely coffee and home baked scones, cheese, fruit, plain and usually a special on offer.

He visitado y comido aquí en varias ocasiones a lo largo de los años y poco a poco el restaurante parece ir cuesta abajo. Paré aquí para almorzar ayer y me sorprendió ver que no se ofrecían platos principales adecuados, así que seleccioné y pedí una chaqueta de papa del menú y pregunté por qué no había platos principales. Me dijeron que tenían platos principales, pero que "la oficina" no había enviado "la lista" al restaurante a tiempo y, por lo tanto, ¡esto no se había agregado al tablero del menú! Muy confuso para mí y para otros clientes haciendo cola para ordenar. ¡También tomó mucho tiempo para el tomador de pedidos que tenía que decirle a cada cliente individualmente qué había en el menú principal! Luego, una larga cola para café y otra larga para pagar. Más colas para servirnos con vasos de agua y, finalmente, otra cola para cubiertos, que no se veía particularmente limpia y que otros clientes la buscaban de manera antihigiénica. En una nota positiva, hubo una espera relativamente corta para que llegaran las papas y estaban bien.

I came here with my daughter to look for some Christmas bits. Nice selection although we did seem to be getting lost a bit. A bit pricey but I suppose a lot of garden centres are. Served by a lovely girl at the tills

We called in at the cafe whilst shopping at the garden centre, As always three was a good choice of food - hot and cold, The service was good and we found a table and the sandwiches arrived very quickly, They were fresh and well filled. It is a pleasant place to while away the time!

We visited the cafe yesterday, and the refurbishment is so good to provide a really pleasant atmosphere. The huge problem are the prices - one of my grand daughters had Pasta with Tomato Sauce. £10.00 is extremely high for a bowl of pasta with hardly any tomato sauce. I had soup £5.50, with a tiny roll is simply not good value. Comparing to other garden centre cafe's Scotsdales has become so expensive. There is still no air conditioning in the cafe, and yesterday was so hot and uncomfortable. Surely they could have provided some portable units. It is such a shame, because it used to be so good, and such good value.

We were able to sit outside, which was quite pleasant looking at the plants etc and the area was kept clean and tidy. We had drinks that were ok, but the vanilla latte was very weak and tasteless and so was the Chai Latte.

The roasts are good, but would have been better if given bit more gravy! Was very sparse, just a dribble, big Yorkshire pud which was dry as heck throughlack of gravy....could have asked for more but they were very busy and I feared while I waited dinner would get cold! Only mustard on offer, no mint sauce or horseradish.

Been to Scotsdales many times over the years and never come away disappointed. My garden is full of Scotsdales plants, and all my animal's needs are taken care of under one roof, but now they also have the best Gluten Free cake range in their restaurant too! You won't find a better, more moist and delicious cake, and please don't think you have to be gluten free to enjoy. Ask my children. Clementine cake and Jam and walnut were absolutely delightful having been recommended by a lovely young lady. Staff are always lovely and friendly. A great experience as ever, you won't be disappointed.

Fui aquí para pastel y una bebida esta tarde. Nos dieron una cantidad generosa de pastel y había una buena selección de bebidas. Sin embargo, el servicio para cualquier bebida caliente fue bastante lento y se pasó mucho tiempo esperando. Además, los cubiertos disponibles parecían tener manchas marrones, lo cual era bastante desagradable. Dicho esto, hay una zona de asientos al aire libre bastante grande que es encantadora durante el clima más cálido. En general, fue una buena experiencia, pero podría haber sido mucho mejor.

This cafe is in a very good, and therefore very popular, garden centre. It is located within easy access of the M11 and worth the detour though it can be very busy as it is a popular lunch/coffee spot.

Have been disappointed with both Shelford and Horningsea for quality and lack of vegetarian options. Just looked at Shelford menu (and reviews for both) and it seems nothing has changed. Still enjoy coffee and cake at both but go elsewhere for lunch. Not worth risking the disappointment. Both used to be good and we used both regularly as We love plants and gardening. Fordham is excellent and despite the longer journey from Cambridge we now go there for lunch but less often. So much choice at Fordham and 3-4 wonderful veggie tarts that I struggle to choose from. Excellent service. How come they as a smaller setup with presumably a smaller customer base can offer such a large, varied and enticing lunch menu when Shelford can’t? Fordham we’ve told you before but you are excellent - we’ve never been disappointed with the food and service. We’ve also fed back that the other cafes could learn a lot from you - why don’t they? Isn’t it obvious to share good practice within a company?

Went here twice in the last week as we were glamping nearby. The whole place is very good but the cafe is superb. They have lots of cake to choose from and what you decide on will fill the whole plate. The also have little boxes to take some home. Second trip was a Sunday and there was a queue out of the door. It is very popular.

It was 4.00pm-they close at 5.00. 75%of seating closed off. Not a sign of any cake. Customers were looking and walking out because it looked like they were about to close. I counted 12 members of staff standing around laughing and chatting amongst themselves. The person on the pay desk was not there.

Have been using the sunflower cafe for at least 30 years, always had been good until about 12-18 months ago and seems to now being going downhill. I have sent an email in to enquiries but to date no response I will give another week to allow for a response if no joy I will share my experience on here

Large garden centre with decent place to eat large indoor seating and good outdoor area. Reasonable choice of food - decent place to stop

Recently visit the garden centre for some lunch and it was excellent. Freshly cooked food what could you ask for more. Good service and always very busy Definitely coming back very soon :)

Enjoyed a lunch time meet up with old work colleagues. Food was ordered and then brought to our table. Our food was freshly made and delicious. Friendly staff and can't wait to revisit. Trouble is you can spend a fortune in this wonderful nursery with so many beautiful plants to purchase.

So I've been going to the sunflower cafe for a number of years, mainly for breakfasts and then for a mooch leading to many impulse buys. Recently they refurbished the restaurant and changed the way things work, and I've tried since then to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I just can't any more. I never write reviews so this should give you an idea of how strongly I feel about this.

Needed a salad both for health and hot weather reasons.

We have been here before on a visit to Cambridge and on the whole it is ok. This time we didn’t eat.....just had a pot of tea and latte. The latte was good, but small for over £3 and just be aware that when you order tea ....it’s not the first price on the board of £1.99....it’s £2.29 because it’s called a brewed tea when in a pot!!

Las últimas tres comidas que hemos tenido han sido particularmente pobres. Fuimos hoy con la esperanza de que la calidad pudiera haber mejorado, pero desafortunadamente no fue así. Sándwiches bastante desagradables - huevo especialmente sin sabor, se preguntó si había quedado del desayuno y menos patatas fritas. Los desayunos todavía están bien, pero no vamos a ir para nada más. Colas más cortas y no tan ocupadas, así que presumiblemente otros han tenido experiencias similares. Es una pena.

Following recent refurbishment - prices significantly increased - quality of food reduced. No longer the 'good value' eatery it used to be - shame.

They have improved their model for service here as it does get quite busy. They have a good menu for breakfast and lunch. There is plenty of seating both in the main cafe area and the conservatory. The food is always prepared fresh. The coffee and teas here are good. The service is ok most of the staff are quite friendly.

We absolutely enjoy our regular trips to our favourite Garden Centre & cannot recommend the Cafe enough!!

The Restaurant has undergone a refurbishment - now very light, airy and open. Unfortunately the changes to the service of the food are absolutely ridiculous. Changes are as follows:

We were charged £20+ for 2 sandwiches, 2 coffees and a tiny bowl of chips. The bread wasn’t very fresh, the fillings were minimal and the salad was brown at the edges. Not worth the money they charged. We won’t go there again !

This is the best garden centre around Cambridge but sadly the cafe is poor at best. The food, apart from breakfast is poor quality and overpriced. The queuing system to be served is inefficient and poorly managed. The staff however are great and the refurbishment tastefully done. However, we won't visit the cafe again as the prices since refurbishment are excessive given their quality and environment.

We visited this refurbished café/restaurant at Scotsdale's whilst shopping in the garden centre. We have used it before the refurbishment and found the service and atmosphere good. Today however the service was poor, I asked for two drinks, got one. Tried the other counter and the girl did not really know how do a simple coffee. If training is the problem, this should be done under supervision

We visited the cafe last weekend and felt the refurbishment was extremely well done. It was difficult to understand the new queuing system. and even when the counters were clear, customers were still being held outside. We used to come most weekends with our family but the cost has now become prohibitive. Sandwich, piece of cake & tea for 2 £19.00. Small bottle of Fanta £2.19 and a scone with jam £2.85. It has priced us out!!

We have been to this restaurant many, many times over the years and came over today to check out the refurbishment. All I can say is that having to queue for forty minutes for a sausage and bacon roll is simply not good enough...they have changed the system whereby one girl takes food orders then takes each order through to the kitchen....one by one. It is painful to watch and needs changing....may I suggest two girls, one taking orders and one delivering orders to kitchen? Or even better have a system that delivers orders to the kitchen electronically? Lots of people unhappy today and for good reason. Wake up or you will loose trade!

Visited yesterday for coffee and lunch. Poor service, no plates out for cakes etc. Staff aimlessly wandering around, took ages to get two coffees, no prices listed on the “drinks” board, we were told that prices hadn’t been allocated yet?? One assistant was fingering the inside of jugs and cups off from a tray on a rack, no gloves on. At lunch at 1.30 pm, not much choice, Hot Pot. Fish & Chips, Jacket potatoes all sold out, bearing in mind that hot food is served until 2.30pm! The new furniture was more comfortable but no ambience due to partitions being taken out and now had a canteen look, but, of course, this gave them more room to put in more tables. We will visit again, but we we’re very disappointed yesterday with our dining experience.

Whether it's for a quick cuppa during a shopping trip or meeting for lunch the Sunflower cafe will not disappoint. They have loads of reasonably priced lunch options and an amazing assortment of cakes and scones. Recently refurbished the atmosphere is fresh and light. It's child friendly and staff will always go the extra mile to help.

I love this garden centre that's got got a huge selection of plant's shrub's and tree's

The Scotsdale Great Shelford cafe is currently undergoing renovation, with probably more than than a third of their seating currently unavailable. They have made valiant efforts to ensure customers don't suffer, with staff members controlling queues etc, but their usually very high standards have sadly slipped.

Visited here for a quick lunch after a hospital appointment, what a disappointment.

Lovely setting, coffee and great cakes. Berry, cherry and/or date slice. Very yummy. Also friendly staff, parking and lovely shopping experience.

En ningún lugar cerca de la buena mesa, pero con una buena relación calidad-precio, comida caliente y fría, y dulces. Era una cafetería muy concurrida, muchos niños y personas mayores y una larga cola, pero el personal trabajaba con bastante eficiencia para atender a la mayor cantidad de personas posible. Tres zonas de descanso, cada vez más agradables a medida que avanzas.

In the past this used to be a great place. But our last visits have been very disappointing. Service was slow, food was lack-lustre (scones not fresh, no clotted cream available "sorry - its all still frozen"), limited selection of scones & cakes, The staff were struggling to keep the restaurant & tables clean & tidy.

It used to be one of the places to visit for a coffee. And in every visit we would end up buying £30-£40 worth of stuff for the house and garden. However, on this visit the restaurant was particularly sad... More than half an hour before the cafe closed (ie an hour before the shops closes) the restaurant was out of any food. Only cakes and sweets were available. The nicer "winter garden area" was closed and some "Christmas" plastic bears were still in the restaurant playing some ugly music.

We used to live in Shelford years ago & loved visiting Scotsdales .
