Food was excellent staff were brilliant helpful and attentive place was very clean, definitely worth a visit for a lovely meal

Went there today and asked for the over 55 menu and was told they didn't do on . I said it's on their Web site whitch they informed me was out of date. Shame as it seemed very nice in there. Please update menu

Very good choice on the lunch and dinner menus and the food was lovely. Helpful and friendly service too. A beautiful drive back to Witham along narrow country road afterwards.

I wanted to praise The Green Man. We've been going to the pub since we were children, over the past 50 years and although we do not live in Lt Braxted any longer we still go back; it never fails to deliver. The new owners are keeping the standard high! The liver & bacon was delicious, very tender & plentiful. The prawn & veg Thai stir-fry was amazing, really spicy but not overly so. Go to the Green Man, you will not be disappointed!

Visited The Green Man recently and wanted to share the amazing experience we had there. The place had an excellent atmosphere with people enjoying the late summer sunshine. My wife and I had the prawns to start which were very fresh, plump and flavoursome absolutely delicious. For mains I had the special pizza and my wife had the steak and onion pie which she loved as it was full to the brim with steak and a puff pastry top……it was a very generous portion. My pizza was plentiful and had lots of meat toppings and was indeed “special” accompanied with the best fat chips I’ve had in a long time. The only thing that bettered the amazing food were the staff! They couldn’t do enough for us and were very attentive even though the pub/restaurant was busy. We didn’t have to wait at all for our food or our drinks. If you’ve not visited The Green man then you must come as it is a lovely place for drinks and dinner. It has a very talented chef and brilliant staff and you will not be disappointed.

Arrived to find 50th birthday bashi n pub garden, toilets were disgusting, a member of our party had prawn dish starter and within 30 mins severe diarrhoea and feeling sick. Staff took ages to serve drinks and bar was full people from party in the garden, restaurant was a thorough fare for the bar, Have been several times before with no problems, it took ages to get bill when one of the party was feeling very unwell. Did not feel like a restaurant General experience will not be returning .

Turned up just after opening and was lucky to get a table. Booking definitely recommended. Had beef Sunday lunch and it was one of the best I have ever had. Staff were lovely. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come again.

After a four mile walk with 12 friends we had a brilliant Sunday Lunch at the Green Man. Food was excellent, staff were very attentive and accommodating, couldn't have asked for better!

If you want the BEST Roasts around…This is the place .. I’ve had some lovely roasts especially around the Dedham area but The Green Man at Little Braxted.. 💯 get involved people!!!!!

We have been coming to the Green Man since we were children in the 60s through it's many owners. It has recently had new management & did not disappoint. The new outside seating area is shaded & tastefully done. The menu is not massive but caters for all tastes & the specials sounded delicious. The staff were attentive but not "in your face" & helpful. We would thoroughly recommend.

This was my first visit after the new owners have taken over the business. I ordered fillet steak rare, it came with Diane sauce, beautifully cooked tender stems, grilled cherry tomatoes and potatoes. The steak was perfect and washed down with a large glass of Merlot. For dessert I tried their vanilla and orange crème brûlée. The meal for two including drinks came to £96. Worth every penny. Will I go back? You bet. Well done to the staff and chef x

We arrived at this pub quite by accident due to Ride London and many road closures in the area. We ordered two salads as a starter and one portion of chunky chips. The portion sizes were generous and the quality of the food was excellent. The staff were charming and we would not hesitate to visit this pub again in the future. Finally we felt we had excellent value for money.

Charming pub, friendly helpful staff & lovely food. Can't go wrong. And they were hosting a beer festival on the day we went, in their garden. Also beautiful weather helped.

After reading the reviews we were excited to visit Called to book for the next day for lunch. someone said they would call us back they did the next day at 12.30! Waitress efficient but not friendly. 2 roasts ordered, 1 fish and chips. Tradional roast but Roast potatoes have garlic!! When asking waitress why doesn't it state on menu that theyare garlic as I don't like garlic her response was to blame me for not asking if the roasties were garlic ones!! I replied I didn't think to ask as its a roast potato she then ranted saying they can't possibly write all the ingredients of each item on the menu, and again I should have asked that I didn't want garlic with my roast!! Spoilt my meal completely. Cauliflower cheese is vile tastes powdery, watery and bland, Fish was very small and thin for a big price. Drinks way over priced. Waitress that bought the bill was again unfriendly. This is the first time I haven't left a tip in over 30 years!! WE WONT BE VISITING AGAIN. BASIC PUB. IMPRESSION. THEY THINK THEY ARE FAR SUPERIOR THAT WHAT THEY ARE. NOT EVEN BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PROVIDED. 1 star given for the cajin chicken burger whi h was absolutely massive and delicious! Thick bacon. Delicious fries. Minus 3 stars for 3 lower than average meals Minus 1 star for unfriendly and blaming the customer for not being a Monday reader. £100 wasted!!!!

Came for another of their great beer festivals. We had the Sunday roast which is fabulous. One of the best roasts you can get in a pub. The burgers also went down a treat with my hubby and son. Friendly service, proper home cooked great quality food in a lovely environment. The garden is really good and there's a play area for kids. Definitely recommend coming here. Not had a bad experience ever.

Quite disappointed ordered chicken curry £17.50 dish of the day, when I asked if there was Naan bread, chapati or poppadoms I was advised 'No'. I asked if there was Mango chutney and the waitress was unsure and had to go and check?? Fortunately there a small tablespoon available. We visited and it was for a table of 3, maybe because it was early week it was very quiet, so no real atmosphere, but I'm sure this is different at the weekend. The waitress serving attending our table didn't seem to be particularly attentive and when we had to call her over to place our order she stated oh you must be hungry, not what we really wanted to hear. Nicely decorated and furnished and we would probably go back but maybe at the weekend when it's busier.

Our second visit tonight and whilst busy, there was still a good vibe and the food...well, it never disappoints. I remember really enjoying the food on my first visit and the second time this evening, blown away by the mussels in chilli and white wine. 😀 Will be back again!!! Keep up the good work.

Our second visit to the Green man, the first being some 6 months ago, thankfully the food is every bit as good as the first visit. My wife and I booked for an early 12:30 table, we both ordered the mixed meat Sunday lunch, the food arrived quickly, was nicely plated, hot and freshly cooked. The pork, pork crackling, lamb and beef were perfectly cooked all three melting in the mouth, the chicken, if being critical was slightly dry but was still perfectly edible just not up to the standard of the other meats. The potatoes, parsnips, mixed vegetables and yorkshire puds were also cooked perfectly and complimented the meal well. Our waitress was attentive, polite and efficient while being warm and welcoming. Overall a very good Sunday lunch.

First time visiting today for my birthday meal and it was fantastic! Highly recommend this great pub! Perfect menu and reasonably priced for the excellent quality and service! They were so patient with us too as some of our party were delayed but nothing was too much trouble! Can't wait to return! Thank you Green Man! Lastly, a wonderful family beer garden, our son loved the sandpit! Very family friendly and relaxed atmosphere!

What a great "local" to have on your doorstep. Great food, friendly service and good value.

So I tried to book a table online and it didn't confirm, it said somebody would be in touch. Time marched on so I called and was told that time wasn't available but they hadn't checked emails. Managed to get a later time but the online booking could be updated as other places have so you can see availability. First impressions lovely place, more parking than I expected for an old pub. However it was a lot smaller inside than you'd think from the photos. The bar area was absolutely rammed with people standing (Sunday afternoon). There can't have been more than 20 tables. Anyway the reasonably priced food arrived very quickly and was absolutely delicious. Lamb was cooked perfectly and I don't usually eat roast potatoes but these were great. Dessert was a good size portion, very tasty, and priced about average. Asked for a cocktail but they had run out, apparently these all come premade so I'm glad I didn't spend the money to be honest. Would definitely go again but book well in advance.

Absolutely delicious food! The Lasagne was the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant and the Eton Mess was 'wow' too! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Calves Liver, cooked to perfection, and finished off with the Creme Brulee. Service was faultless. friendly and efficient, making allowances for the older guests whose deafness made things a challenge! We'd love to return, and may well do so, when meeting up with family again.

We visited the Green Man for Sunday lunch with friends, this is the first time we have been there since the new management. What a lovely meal, the food was excellent and the service was top notch.

Went with group pre ordered food. No complaints from anyone plates were cleared . Food was very good , service excellent . Very busy need to book. Well worth a visit.

Went with friends from London and were so impressed with the quality and service given ,a truly enjoyable outing. The manageress and staff made us so welcome as we sat at a table in front of a glorious log fire it was with reluctance that we finished and left. Well done an excellent 10 out of 10

5 of us had a simply wonderful lunch in The Green Man yesterday - 16/12/23. Excellent prompt service, really nice local beer, food was amazing, very reasonable price, nice décor and surroundings. All in all a great time for us on a rare family get together.

Absolutely fantastic meal at the Green Man, what a transformation this lovely village pub has undergone in the past year, the new owners have embraced the village and it’s community delivering the food,service and a fully restored interior and garden area, this pub has not delivered this quality of food for many years , and finally we have a chef who knows what he is doing, along with a very good landlady in Alda and her competent staff you couldn’t ask for more. 6 of us had dinner last Friday evening and it was all exceptional, well done and keep up the good work ! I can also highly recommend the roast dinners that we have had on many occasions. Simon & Ruth x

This was our first visit to the Green Man since it’s change of ownership. We had the Sunday roast and we both agreed that it was the best roast we had had for a very long time. Added to this there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant which was full with lots of happy customers and fantastic staff . I am sure that this is the first of many for us

My first time back at this pub under the new management. We had a really good evening and the food was lovely - I had fish and chips. It tasted freshly cooked with a nice crisp batter. I don't usually finish a whole plate of fish and chips but did tonight! It was great to see the pub busy and bustling again! Would love it if you did the fireworks night with the outdoor hog roast again. I used to love that and it was always sold out!

I can't stop writing reviews about this place. It's such a lovely place,and great for family's. The specials board is different, and the main menu is good. I opted for lasagne, one of the best I had out. My husband had grilled octopus with new potatoes, his words absolutely beautiful and nice and tender. Top marks for the chef and the lovely staff. Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Couldn't fault anything. Highly recommend. Fish and chips were perfection, light and crispy batter, succulent cod inside. Very crispy chips with fluffy potato inside. Best we have had! Desserts were good too.

15th September 2023 Three friends & I had a lovely evening last night. The food was very delicious, we had mushroom risotto, pie & vegetables & specials board venison & vegetables, then sticky toffee pudding, trio ice cream & apple crumble/custard. Pudding was so nice nearly forgot a photograph!! The staff were very friendly & helpful. Lovely atmosphere, we went very early evening. It did get a bit noisy, when other people arrived somewhat later, in the room as there are no carpets. 4yrs ago A fabulous evening with ladies from the Witham WI dining club

Real old pub where you can just have a drink or a light or full meal, food excellent top restaurant standard. Staff friendly and helpful. Almost loath to recommend in case it becomes too busy so I can't return!

Had lunch here today, such a lovely place. The food was great. We had Lasagne and The Green Man Burger meals with onion rings, and all the food was amazing. Staff were excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend and will return if in the area again.

Stumbled across this by accident when going cross country to Burnham. What a fabulous little country pub! The food was awesome (we all had roasts) and the staff were great. Look forward to visiting again.

The food was very good and plentiful. Well cooked and presented with a good choice. Service was friendly and efficient. Everything seemed fresh and local. An excellent meal out on a sunny Wednesday night. Recommend. Mixed meat starter; seared tuna special; sticky toffee pudding. Coffee was top rate. 3 courses for 2 people with drinks and service around £75.

We attended The Green Man the day after my daughters wedding, there were approximately 40ish people and we all had a wonderful time. They went to the trouble of setting up an area at the far end of the garden for us. The food was excellent particularly the homemade pizzas and a big shout out to the staff who were brilliant, so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A first class country pub, would not hesitate in recommending.

Superb Sunday lunch enjoyed by 4 adults and 2 children. We had roasts, sea food linguine, Margarita pizzas and a Green Man Burger, all were well cooked, very tasty and plentiful. Managed to make room for chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and vanilla and orange brûlées which ended our meal on a sweet note. Service was very good and waitress serving us was brilliant. Well done the Green Man, we will be back!

We had the Sunday roast lunch and we couldn't fault it. We went there for my Husband's birthday lunch and was not disappointed. Crispy and fluffy roast potatoes, fabulous home cooked yorkshire pudding, excellent cuts of meat cooked to perfection, along with the veg, at extremely reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and welcoming and gave a great service. We only gave a 4 Star rating for the atmosphere as we had a fairly early lunch, so it was a little quiet, but the background music was nice. Give it a try, you definitely won't be disappointed. Its definitely our No.1 place to go for Sunday roast 😊👍.

This is a pub with a new heart and atmosphere and the perfect place for lunch with friends. Good service and great food are now the order of the day. Haddock filet wrapped in prosciutto was my dish of the day! Its a bit off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out. :)

Tried this pub out today as a halfway point on our journey to Southwold. Dog friendly - great for us and our cockerpoo. Food was delicious - we had seafood paella and wild mushroom risotto for our mains. Everything tasted freshly cooked and we sent our compliments to the chef. Good range of choices on the menu and specials. Staff were excellent and very helpful and the service was good. Will hopefully go back again.

Another fantastic meal! Such friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble. I chose from the Specials board and had Supreme of chicken with Dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal veg , cooked to perfection! Fantastic venue - upgraded and updated really nicely. It is now our go to restaurant from Tiptree. The food is beyond excellent but enhanced by the fabulous staff and professional service. Well done guys!

GO AND BOOK YOUR TABLE NOW. I can not recommend the green man enough, I don't say this lightly about pub food usually but this is OUTSTANDING. I had one of their specials which was a creamy mackerel pasta which was divine, I hope it comes back. It was something I could eat at every visit. We came for a roast and both chose a mixed roast. One of the big things we loved is we got asked if we like our beef rare in the middle. Usually when pubs ask you this it doesn't really matter because they serve it well done anyway but here at the green man it actually came pink in the middle. It was delicious. My partner is a self proclaimed gravy connoisseur and approved of the gravy! The only slight annoyance was that we were in the bar area, which is still a perfectly nice area to sit in, but we haven't made it into the main dining room yet. I have booked again for our whole family to spend easter sunday there and got relegated into the bar area again. ONE DAY I will make it into the main dining room :D The two girls that served us were absolutely amazing and quick. The only weird thing that my hospitality brain has to mention is the weird bill you get at the end. It is just the slip the waitress writes with your order on it and a manually calculated. I haven't seen those since the late 90s. It's weird and seems like unnecessary work for them these days when POS systems cost nothing. That doesn't take away from the great experience we had though. Please please PLEASE go and eat at the green man.

We had plenty of roast dinners takeaway from here during lockdowns but with the pub having changed owners and undergone a recent refurb we were keen to visit in person. The Sunday roast was delicious and the service excellent and really attentive. Would definitely recommend....

OMG, this is one of the best roast beef dinners I’ve ever had outside of my home. Often the roast potatoes are not great but these were and the beef was tasty and very tender. Perfectly cooked. The only problem I had with this lunch...

Went for dinner with friends and had a great meal. Service was good and the staff were friendly. The prices were good for the quality of food we had and would happily recommend a visit to anyone. The menu may seem a little restricted to some, but what was on there is worth having. The specials looked great as well. Would advise making sure you get there on time as parking can become a little restricted, especially on the Friday and Saturday night when we have been previously.

Has been the 1st time I've been here since before the refurbishment and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are lovely, friendly, professional and helpful. Went today for the first time since they reopened and must say how amazing it was, lovely staff and great food! Like really great food! First time a place has told me the beef is served pink and is then actually served pink! We’ll be back ASAP to try more of the menu!
