Great pub, great selection of lager. Only thing it could do to improve is a wider selection of ale

I haven't eaten here but the beers and ales are good. Lovely staff very friendly. Nice atmosphere.

Great little pub at the end of the high street. Just stopped in for a quick drink but would come back next time I am passing. Good selection of drinks and a car park behind it. There are tables outside and a play area for the kids too.

Been coming here for the Thursday quiz, good selection of drinks and beers on tap, quiz is good, with free rounds as the prize & a big jackpot !

I don't know if this place has had a change of management recently but there have been quite a few notable changes, not all for the best... They don't seem to like turning the heating on these days even if their customers are shivering. They've got some new beers on which are decent (Beavertown/Brewdogs) but always seem to be sold out. Also got a new Pinot Grigio which is just cheap and nasty. New decor behind the bar which is fine. Some of the same staff though, who are great to be honest.

Love this place, kids and dog friendly. Always a good atmosphere and the staff are fab. Would highly recommend.

We go every week on Wednesday, karaoke is amazing!!

Staff are kind and talkative, food is nice and atmosphere is buzzing on event/sports.

Planned stop on a night out to watch the rugby, as we found the pub were showing the match. They have a large room with a big screen, showing most major sports. For significant matches it’s worth booking seats. There is also a screen at the other end o& the pub with good seating and standing areas. So, based on our criteria for having a beer or two whilst watching the match, it met our expectations.

We had the margarita pizza and the sharing combo. This place specialises in Greek food. It was brilliant food!

A good local pub, / eateries geared up For the young family, with soft play, good, kids menu, the burgers and pizza are also very nice, would recommend to friends.

I just go for the Karaoke on Wednesdays. So fun! The bar staff are lovely, we always grab drinks while we are at karaoke.

Wow what a find this was. The Black Rabbit ale was lovely and the fish and chips were the best we've had in a long long time. Nice games room at the back and plenty of TV's to watch the sport. Staff all very friendly too, we loved it.

We took part in our 1st pub quiz at The Black Rabbit on Thursday night. The bar staff, Ben & Beth were friendly and regularly visited our table collecting glasses and clearing empty plates - the food was really nice. Jade was a great quiz master and came round checking our progress. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely and the other customers were friendly too. A jewel in Maldon's high street.

I'm looking forward to paying this pub a visit this coming weekend. However I'd like to know why there was a change of name from The Ship and Anchor to the Black Rabbit? And what would be the chances of seeing any regulars from the 1990's - when Stan then Jo could be found behind the bar?

Nice pub (had hand pull pumps, but nothing on ). Ok they had some craft beer on so that was ok . Nice food at a fair price !.

This is an unfair 4* only because can't do halves or would be 4.5 only reason being never had the food myself but looks and smells amazing pizzas look wow 😳. But child's play area inside (soft play area with tons of toys) and out! ( Small park and a sand pit with extra grassy area) amazing staff great quality booze even Pours a Madri in a chilled glass. If that don't sell it to you I don't know what will!!!!

Very cool pub young friendly crowd, could have done with putting the heating on or lighting the fire. Would have stayed for another.

Met there for the first time for a drink with a few friends. First impressions was, good atmosphere and nice to have a large screen for sports. Like the layout of the pub.

Female member of staff was argumentative and rude, accusing different groups of stealing money from the pool table when it was on the floor. She also got up in my face as she accused me of stealing and had to be calmed down by her boyfriend. Two male Bar staff were friendly and served us quickly. Will never be coming back unfortunately

Lovely pub, great atmosphere with a good choice of local beers. We ordered lunch and whilst the food was good, it was incredible salty - please just hold back on the salt and let the dinners add more in needed!

First time I have been to the pub and I found it very nice

Went here last night for dinner with a friend. staff are nice, decor is cool but the food was awful which was so disappointing. Menu is predominantly Greek food so i ordered the Loaded Fries which was chicken yeeros, onions, bbq sauce and tsziki on a large portion of fries. the whole meal lacked flavour and was very bland the only thing that had any taste was the tzsiki. the chicken seemed to be prepare and bought in due to the perfect little cubes it was in. And it was all stone cold. my friend had the vegan burger which she said was nice but again her chips were stone cold. we seemed to be the only ones eating so its not like the kitchen was overwhelmed. wouldn't recommend for food, better off going to witherspoon, at least the food is hot

Had a very enjoyable experience. Dog friendly, nice staff and they show the football on TV. Didn't order food, but 99% confident it would be good. Would recommend to anyone visiting Maldon

The service was good and we were glad to find a dog friendly pub. Sadly I couldnt eat my meal, the chicken yeeros was rubbery, very strange texture. When I called the waitress over, I went to explain and she mentioned the texture before I got my words out. So it sounds like people have complained before. Children's meals were also small portions , definitely wouldn't recommend.

Love coming here on a Sunday evening. Chilled out music , good beer, what's not to like?

Weird experience, ordered a cider and paid, then was given an ale. Girls behind the bar refused to give me the drink I asked for without paying again, and insisted I ordered ale. I don’t like ale, why would I do that? They don’t even sound similar. Never experienced a place refuse to accept they may have made a mistake like that before ever

Aa a first time visitor there was no friendly welcome. The man behind the bar looked like we were intruding on his time. The menu is mostly fried food. So we left and went somewhere else where our custom was be welcomed.

I went to this place to meet my mummy friends for a play and a bite to eat. While soft play is ok it's not very clean and toys were scattered all over the floor. Menu - very bland pizza or burgers, not a child friendly menu. Overall it's ok for a one off visit but I'd rather make the effort and go further a field

The black rabbit is not safe for children considering it has a soft play area. Owners is rude, the menu is just basic burger or pizza. Nothing really I want to give my children. The owners leave their children's potty laying around for them to do their business and leave it for ages. Would not recommend. Also music is playing so loud the children cannot watch the films that are put on.

Great pint of London Pride and the landlord and barmaid very friendly. Mobile Thai for Friday's tasty but not good value.

No atmosphere staff don't talk or acknowledge you .Food expensive I had chicken burger with chips and salad it consisted of burnt bun smother in mayo and peri sauce which I didn't request ,salad was mainly leaves half slice cucumber and 2 slices of tomatoes. Coleslaw was OK chips not bad. Would not visit again. There are better friendlier places in Maldon.

Always good food here, polite and friendly staff, and a good vibe. It's our favourite place to come to lunch when we visit Maldon, and we bring the dog along too. Since moving out of London to a nearby town, we noticed how friendly people are around here.

Called in on Saturday after booking a table for lunch on line, however when we got there we were informed no food as kitchen had a problem. So we were somewhat disappointed as we had walked all the way there, decided to stay for a drink as we were there. Not a great selection of ales a few were off for some reason but a fair selection off gins but not all that were on the menu which again was disappointing. My daughter when there on Monday night but again still no food being served so they also had to go elsewhere. Friendly enough staff and a nice atmosphere inside they just need to sort out the kitchen and bar then this really will be a pub worth going to.

This pub is so beautiful and had a wonderful atmosphere, we did go during the rugby so was very busy but the staff was still smiling and making sure everyone needs were met. With the food I was really shocked they had a vegan menu which was huge along side an amazing normal menu! I went for the Mac and cheese veggie chicken burger with fake bacon and BBQ sauce, oh my word it was the best burger I have had in ages! Thank you so much!!! My partner said his was really good too, plus the halloumi we had on the side. I really recommend this pub if your near it!

We went because we wanted a place with a pool table and we were delighted to find an absolute gem of a pub, the staff are lovely, the prices are good (the cocktail pitchers are a bargain!), there’s a great selection of drinks and we were made to feel so welcome that we keep on coming back!

as a local living nearby have kept meaning to pay a visit. Very limited selection of real ales. Tried doom bar but off. Was served a replacement but little better. with the family in tow didn't want to make a scene. Limited choice of soft drinks for the kids. Service indifferent. Started pricing up before I'd ordered most of drinks and manager didnt bother to say goodbye as we all left. One visit is enough.

It's a shame about the new manager, all the other staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is nice but very expensive. Edit: glad to hear that the manager is gone, look forward to visiting again soon.

Had a great evening doing the pub quiz. Staff were very friendly.

No gluten free options, despite the fact that the pub make their own pizzas?! The only thing on the menu I could have was gammon, egg and chips and this unfortunately has left me feeling ill and bloated. Partner is also feeling ill after having one of the burgers. Staff were lovely and good service, but our table was also sticky, even after being cleaned again.

Good food and drink offer, showing sports. Only shame was the cleanliness of our table, but overall it was OK.

Been going to this pub for a good while now and I can never fault it. The selection of drinks is amazing and the staff are even better. Will always stop for a drink or 2 when I'm near. I can't forget the amazing pizzas they do also!!!

Kind servers who were pleasant and gave the WiFi password without much hesitation. Loved that not a second glance was given despite not being their usual clientele.

We booked our daughters Christening reception after, we had a buffet which was really nice specially the homemade sausage roll. They were very accommodating and let us decorate the room 30mins before they opened. We did go in there a few weeks before and there homemade burger was amazing. Would highly recommend.

I like this place, it has lots of character and it's unique in its layout and approach, having many games around to entertain yourselves with. Plenty to choose from on the booze front too 👍🏼

A real nice pub, with a small menu, but something for everyone. There is a very limited kids menu. The food was really delicious, and the prices were reasonable. A good selection of beers and other drinks. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

We were a group of 4, all 20 with IDs, we sat down to look at menu and the waitress wouldn’t serve us because she was under the impression the legal drinking age was 21... we left

Left in a very fuzzy state after a very good night out. Would go back again, if I can book a holiday for the next couple of days 😂

Lovely little pub with friendly and helpful staff. Their food is absolutely beautiful. We had the Rabbit Burger and Gammon. Both were divine and were never seen gammon so thick before. Will definitely visit again

Went here for the first time today as my daughter and her friends go all the time so decided to give it a try even took the dog as they are dog friendly. Found a table outside in the sunshine and downloaded the app. On the first attempt found the app very hard to use but after the first go it seemed a lot more simpler to use. Ordered and paid for our drinks and they arrived nice and quickly. After the first go we found it easy to order food and then more drinks. Food was to a very good standard and plentiful no complaints from any of us. Will we go again for sure good selection of food and drinks friendly pleasant staff.

Popped in for a bite to eat on Saturday afternoon at about 4.30 and we were met by the barman who by the time we left we decided was very friendly and efficient (loved the haircut) and we ordered two drinks nothing alcoholic 1 none sugar cola and a zero alcohol larger which was served at just the right temperature (cold). We sat at a table by the front window and studied the menu and decided to give the hot wings and the Brie bites a go as a starter and the blue cheese and onion burger and the chicken burger a go as mains, Wow absolutely delicious I even had one of my wife’s chicken fillets as she was struggling with the amount of food I think her chicken burger had 3 fillets and they were not small . While eating the background music was for my wife a little loud but I loved it,it was a mixture of as I’d called it commercial punk and two tone ska and being in my 50’s it took me back to my childhood, as we paid and left I said to myself I’m coming back here again and my wife said she wished that the music volume was slightly lower and the food portions were slightly smaller but you can’t please everyone.
