Walked in just as they were closing and clearing up, yet received a really warm welcome as I'd we were the first customers of the day. Lovely old school tea shop with great cakes, friendly service and a welcome break from the rain. Would recommend when visiting Wells

Such a lovely spot, we came here for breakfast at 11, and although we hadn't booked a table we were able to get seated (next time I will certainly be booking, as I think does get busy). The man that showed us to our table was so warm and welcoming as was the lady who took our order. I got a strawberry milkshake with a vegetarian breakfast and my partner got the full English with a mocha. Both were incredible and extremely well priced given the prices of other establishments in North Norfolk. The atmosphere was also very nice, the building has been restored beautifully and the priory is just outside to walk around once you have finished your meal. I will certainly be coming again!

Traditional family friendly restaurant serving fish and chips....or so it states in the overview. If you're expecting the restaurant part to include metal cutlery and china plates, forget it. Thin wooden forks and knives, average tasting fish and chips served in a takeaway tray, tea served as hot water in a cup with a teabag to put in yourself, and wheelie bins in the seating area for the rubbish after eating. Not what we would class as a restaurant. After all the build up about these fish and chips, sadly a big disappointment. Not worth travelling 22 miles for.

A really interesting low circular building overlooking a wetland habitat, owned and run by the Holkam Estate. There's a large covered but open area with tables and chairs and a smaller enclosed café serving good filter coffee and a range of prepared on site light bites sandwiches, pasties and cakes. Not cheap but good quality. The rush and reed drinking water fountain in the middle is a functional masterpiece. The information boards are very helpful outlining what can be seen and why. The big carpark is a couple of minutes away and the beach is perhaps 10 minutes off.

A Sunday called in for a quick beer and, potentially, book for a family get together next year. Lady behind bar was doing paperwork, never looked up, acknowleged or spoke to me. Stood for a couple if minutes, walked out. I used this oub for 20+ years and never in that time witnessed such disgraceful attitude to paying customers, never again.

Fabulous Sunday roast, really delicious. Was a bit unusual with good flavors. The staff were very attentive, we where seated by the maitre (Nicola) to a lovely table- she went out of her way for us, even though she was very busy; she checked that we where happy later on. It was a great atmosphere and we felt very looked after.

Got seated immediately which was great, that’s kind of where it ends! Waited at bar to place order for too long and although drinks came straight away they were drank up way before any sign of food. Had to chase food due to long wait times just for three light bite plates! When arrived I was so disappointed with size of portions which is a shame as cod bites and chips were very nice just a very poor portion as plates used are just too small, so not good value at £8.60. We felt absolutely ripped off, 25.40 for two drinks, plate of chips, light bite cod bites n chips and light bite sausage n chips! Would not return or recommended and was still hungry!
