Very lovely pancakes! I had a pancake stack with blueberries, cream, and added bacon 🥓🥓 a real treat to beat the January blues. These were good value as I got a big portion for the price. If you are big tea drinkers I would recommend being sure to ask for builders tea to bring the cost down, and to save space on the small tables (and no tea pot faff). When we came the service a bit slow 🦥 but very friendly. We were on a high barstool table which wasn't the most comfortable, but also, we were a walk-in and grateful to have been seated. Toilets are in good order (has been the case across multiple visits). There's a courtyard.

Walked in just as they were closing and clearing up, yet received a really warm welcome as I'd we were the first customers of the day. Lovely old school tea shop with great cakes, friendly service and a welcome break from the rain. Would recommend when visiting Wells

I am updating this review to reflect the fact that their customer service team have been in touch to put things right. We will be visiting again this year and appreciate their offer. Original review text follows… Currently sitting outside for our 3rd visit in a week. It’s a convenient location between wells beach and the Holkham hall estate and it’s appreciated they have gluten free cake options for my wife and child who are coeliac. My feelings towards this place were drastically altered during our last visit. Just as soon as we got to our seat our 5yo reached and knocked her hot chocolate drink over. We cleaned up after ourselves completely and I took the tray inside to pour away the spill. I get it they aren’t there to give out free drinks. But I’d have thought given the volume of custom they get in a day and the prices for basic filter coffee and refreshments that they’d perhaps have offered to replace the HC free of charge. But sadly not I had to get another using our loyalty card (which shows we’ve been here many times). 7 cakes 2 bacon baps 3 coffees 2 hot chocolates and a can of pop in one week but couldn’t offer a replacement drink… Can’t help but feel disappointed.

Came for Sunday lunch and wasn't overly impressed. To begin, we all hadn't managed to even get sat down at the table before being asked what drinks we wanted. Food was enjoyable; however, I imaged the chicken would have been cut from whole rather than served as a breast. Personally, I would have preferred vegetables on the plate rather than self served (or at least with more than one spoon/in two bowls). Condiment ramekins would have also been useful with small spoons. The actual service was completely lacking. The many waitresses stood about leaning against walls, arms folded and looking very bored staring into the abyss. Not one person checked if anything was satisfactory throughout the meal. Eton mess, was not an Eton mess. We did mention this to the waitress, who raised it to kitchen staff (to note, we saw the lady with hair bunches in the kitchen shake their head and walk off - very professional). Went to pay and wasn't allowed to see the breakdown of bill until I'd paid which felt odd. Luckily everything was correct. To conclude, I wouldn't return for Sunday lunch but I'd potentially give a second chance for a weekday meal.

Incredibly disappointing. We are regular visitors to Wells having owned a caravan at Pinewoods for 10 years. The Globe was always our go to for food and drinks when in the town and we had always vowed to stay there on day. This was our first time with you and will sadly be our last. The room, the service and the overall experience makes it an easy decision to stay elsewhere next time. A real shame.

Don’t understand the ‘mixed reviews’ Tonight was typical of every takeaway we’ve ever had (and that’s hundreds over 15yrs) - batter on the cod was light and tasty - chips were perfect - chicken bites succulent . Always a big debate in Wells who does the best F&C - for us it’s Platten’s.

We were told we arrived too late for food and as we weren’t eating we couldn’t have a drink. We sat for a rest and when we asked if we could just get a coffee and cake we were told that if we didn’t like the policy then we knew were the door was!!!! I kid you not. This really happened
