Wells Crab House is hands down the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is consistently outstanding, fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented every single time. The service is just as impressive, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that never disappoints, but this one absolutely delivers, time and time again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Wells-next-the-Sea, you won’t be disappointed!

Walked in just as they were closing and clearing up, yet received a really warm welcome as I'd we were the first customers of the day. Lovely old school tea shop with great cakes, friendly service and a welcome break from the rain. Would recommend when visiting Wells

No disabled access currently - 01/05/2025. Be aware that the Holkham Estate is currently resurfacing the parking at Lady Ann Drive and this is not mentioned on the Holkham website. We were directed to park on a rough field, a long way away from the cafe and beach walkway and the field is not suitable for wheelchairs/walkers/mobility aids. We checked with the Attendants and there was no option to drop off less mobile family closer to the walkway on more stable ground so we left and went to Wells-next-the-sea Harbour instead, which was accessible.

Out for the day with my husband and always have food at The Nelson. My husband had the roast, dinner which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the vegetable lasagne, chips and salad which was beautiful. I always have their homemade coleslaw which is soo good!! It is a lovely establishment with excellent food always and always good service.

Visited on a Sunday evening, friendly welcome with a nice atmosphere in the pub. Starters were okay, makerel pate and whitebait, nothing fancy just standard pub food. We had the roasts for mains, my husband enjoyed the lamb, and I had beef. Good size portions, but my beef was very thick and tough and chewy. They kindly offered thinner slices, but I'd had enough to eat by then. Fresh tasty veg, potatoes okay but tasted reheated, overall I thought it was expensive for the quality.

We had pre booked for a group of 4 for Sunday Roast - the beef being one of the best roasts I have ever had. Our table was busy when we arrived, we waited patiently with a drink. As soon as we sat down and ordered as soon as we were able to get some attention - the time pressure began and we were reminded of our time to leave and handed a card with our departure time. We were reminded again before our first course had even arrived, then again before we ordered a second course - all with odd attitude. We couldn’t have been quicker - it was all on their schedule A wonderful meal and venue, marred by odd service!

Terrible fish and chips. Have visited many times and enjoyed good fish and chips in the past. Safely this wasn't the case today. The fish was mainly batter and the fish was over cpoked. Certainly not worth nearly £12 a piece. It's a shame as we live in the area but we will not be returning again in a hurry. Other fish and chip shops are far better in the local area and more completely priced. I know they were busy today but you have to maintain standards and quality otherwise it is not fair to your regular customers.

We walked from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham, intending to have a quick pint at The Victoria before catching the bus back. Unfortunately you can't do this any more as they have closed the bar. We did have two small but delicious tapas in the restaurant along with a glass of wine and a beer, but it seemed expensive at £34. So the place is great for a posh lunch, but in future we will walk from Holkham to Burnham Overy and have a pint at the Hero.
