Stopped for a light lunch whilst spending a day in Wells. A really good choice. Friendly service and really good food. Nothing fancy just a good choice (including daily specials) really well prepared.

Deighted to find this coffee shop open at 4.10pm when most, similar businesses in Wells-next-the-Sea were closed. We enjoyed a delicious slice of cake and tea at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a place we'll go back to in the future.

A perfect example of service, quality and value with Old fashioned attention to detail, and a smile with much appreciated politeness . ( a rare treat) My Wife and I settled in for coffee and a slice of cake, not for the first time.. I think we have tried most of the delicious cakes that are home baked. This time round we gave the bakewell cake a spin. OMG if you haven't tried it yet, then waste no more time. Full of flavour, moist, well priced, we bought some to go too. Safely packed in a box it made the journey home for tea. We thoroughly recommend a visit. Breakfast for us next visit.

The most disgusting burger I’ve ever eaten. Distinct taste of sausage slathered with cheddar (!) cheese and crispy onion. Burger bun not toasted and soggy. Gastropub prices for what tasted like reheated frozen food from a cheap supermarket. The waitress has just swept the floor and left all the sweepings in a pile for customers to look at

Have now had the worst and most expensive meal since we left Australia in May 2023. This was at Nelson’s in Wells-Next-the-Sea in the Norfolk Coastal National Park. Supposedly a steak and kidney pie. It was drowned in gravy, soggy chips, pastry was like compressed bread crumbs, steak and kidney was missing, and salad was possible days old. Avoid this place, walk another 100 metres towards the sea for a fabulous little bakery.

New Years Day. Busy, had to wait for a table in a queue of 1. My 3 year old son, 5 year old daughter, wife and I were told to wait outside (assuming that having a waiting family inside makes other customers feel uncomfortable while they're eating?)... Waiting is fine, no problem. Just be nice given we're about to spend money here. Food was just better than average, kids portions (fish finger and chips) were bigger than our adult portions. Scone (a couple of days old I presume) was dry after it had finished sweating from coming out of the microwave. 2 kids meals, 2 sausage sarnies, tea and scone, cake, Coke and 1 juice - £45. I think that's a lot - for the lacklustre quality and rude staff (apart from the young lady on the till). Try harder to be better and more friendly to justify your pricing. If you want to own on New Years Day, don't.

Popped in for a sausage and egg sandwich and Cappuccinos. The sausages were really cheap quality rubbish. Nowadays they should be locally sourced and meaty and in uncut bread as described, not cheap sliced. The de caff coffee was completely flavourless and needed another shot. Again good fresh quality coffee should be expected and experienced at a specialist coffee shop. Overall bland and instantly forgettable I’m afraid. The shop and facilities were very clean I must say.

Service without a smile! It took 35 minutes from ordering to receiving our food. Whilst the sausage sandwiches were ok (door stop bread wasn't very thick), the side salad was awful. It was gritty. Unfortunately wouldn't recommend.

I’ll keep it brief. Decaf cappuccino was more like a cup of hot milk. When I asked the young lady to add a shot because it was so weak, she just stared at me blankly, then said she didn’t know if she’d have to charge me for another shot. I receive another shot in a separate cup and it still wasn’t great. Egg and sausage sandwich £6.95 ish, advertised as being made with bloomer bread. It was actually made with bread from a tin loaf and the sausages tasted pretty cheap. Overall, walked out feeling as though I may as well have just thrown the £15 in the sea.

Well we found that very odd considering the cafe is very spacious and there seemed to be plenty of room for us to sit with the pram. We were told that the pram would have to be taken by a member of staff and stored out the back. Well I had a 2 month old baby asleep in the pram so.. no!! Also I really don't see how that is very hygienic as the staff member would be touching my pram and walking it through the cafe! Very poor customer service and we will not be returning. A friend and I ventured into town to find a place for a light lunchafter a nice walk along the beach and were torn between Flo& Jo's and Nelsons - We were drawn in by their better menu and ample seating inside, as it was a blustery day (a lot of the other cafe's we passed on the way were very small and cramped). It's a relaxed atmosphere and counter service, so you have time to sit and peruse the menu (light bites and also hot meals) - I opted for a tuna panini (my usual, so I had high expectations!) and my friend really fancied a fish finger sandwich, both reasonably priced at £6. It's quite a basic set up at eh counter/kitchen and I was dubious as to the quality of the food initially. However, this was proved unfounded as our meals arrived quickly and were fab! Good filling in my panini - lots of cheese tuna & extra onion I had requested, it was hot and the cheese oozing out, suffice it to say I was thoroughly satisfied and nearly couldn't finish it! My Friend's fish fingers were fresh, crispy coating and flaky inside with lashings of tartar sauce. Overall it was a great place for lunch and a catch up - not too busy or noisy which suited us fine. (other diners had opted for the pies and fish & chips which looked lovely too).

Our favourite place of choice for years, and when we came up it still looked closed, no lights visible and a load of old furniture stacked in the window....but no, it's open, what looked like old furniture was hideous dark wood high stools & a bar in both windows, the place filled with dark wood furniture, dark brown menus, not a bright tablecloth or flowers on tables. Hideous, unwelcoming, dark, cheerless and dank. Ghastly art on walls. Sat there in the depressing atmosphere watching holidaymakers peer in and walk on....or go across the road. We watched Nelson's losing custom and money. Whoever designed this needs to repay the fee they charged - who on earth would put stools and a bar in what is your 'shop window' which encourages people to enter?? Note: No one, likes sitting on tall stools and you have too many to allow more than one person to squeeze in. Where's the replacement Nelson things, the bright tablecloths, the attractive wall mountings round each table? So very sorry for your lovely team.

The "minus" occurred when some people decided to bring 2 dogs into the restaurant which rather spoilt our enjoyment. For health and safety reasons these horrible creatures should not be allowed into a place that serves food. What next in a restaurant, goats, sheep, llamas!!!

Arrived a few minutes after 11am and asked if it'd be okay to order breakfast and was told no. Ordered a cheese panini (squashed bread roll) roll with onion jam (I think that's what they called it) and it was just like hot branston pickle. I scraped it all out but the bread was tarnished. Staff were grumpy and all the tables were trashed on arrival. Looks very quaint from the outside.

4 of us called in here for a lunchtime snack and a hot drink (we visited Wells-Next-The-Sea on a very windy chilly day in May). Thankfully someone was vacating their table as otherwise we would have had to have gone elsewhere as it was very busy. Pleased we didn't have to.

As a moderately priced place to eat this is very good value. The food is very pleasant, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and the prices do not hurt the pocket. You receive very good portions. It is quite a popular place and is quite difficult to get a table during the lunch period.

Popped in at 09:20 for breakfast today. Place already moderately busy. Nelson’s has been on Staithe Street for years, only good places survive in Wells as there is so much choice.

Good portion of well cooked meat accompanied with all the trimmings. Vegetables perfectly cooked unlike many places where they are virtually raw or cooked to a mush.

We came in for Lunch today and want to start off by saying that the location is idyllic, the food is delicious and most of the staff are wonderful. However, our meal was completely bulldozed by one member of staff (don’t know her name, elderly, black hair, heavy makeup). Not only would she not leave us alone for the duration of our meal which was very off putting, she proceeded to try to force feed me mushy peas using a dirty spoon off of the floor. At the end of our meal we were sitting and enjoying our drinks when she then took them from our table, we were considering getting coffees but felt very pressured to leave after such disastrous service. We are honestly embarrassed for you at No 1, that kind of behaviour was not very becoming at all…. What would have been the perfect meal out ended up being a complete nightmare.

Stayed for one night, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean , light and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of freshly cooked food, cereals, pastries and fruit. Will definitely return and would certainly recommend staying here

Over priced! £11.95 for toasted sandwich that came with small side salad, small pot shop bought coleslaw and handful chips. Had bacon and brie filling with so much cranberry it tasted more like jam sandwich. With a coffee each bill came to £33. Most costly lunch I've had for ages. Won't be rushing back.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
