The Globe Inn Restaurant in North Norfolk

Had a nice lunch here. Setting being a fine old inn on a pretty green in a very cute little harbour village on the lovely north Norfolk coast all added to the enjoyment. I had a very nice burger and chips, served with efficiency and a smile at a reasonable price.

A lovely breakfast served by very efficient and friendly staff. Quick service too, nothing was too much trouble. Will go back

A busy night expected so booked in advance which is recommended Lots of dogs including ours. Food was absolutely delicious with ample portions. Service was polite and attentive. Just a lovely meal and evening there. Definitely recommend this place!

Wonderful stay from start to finish. We went with our dog who was warmly welcomed. Amazing food. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay even more relaxing. We stayed in the Arch Rooms, easy check in and parking, the housekeeping staff were lovely. Honestly cannot wait to go back, the walks and surrounding beaches are outstanding, A special bolt hole for us to return again and again.

This hotel is a gem. My room was comfortable, my meals were the best I had especially the crispy chilli beef. Breakfast out of this world. Friendly attentive staff. I will be back very relaxing

We made an online booking for a table for dinner three weeks before the date. When we arrived, we were shown to a tiny table in the packed bar (not a dinner table) half shared with another couple. When we said, "no we booked a table for dinner, why can't we have a table in the restaurant", we were told "as we didn't specify a table in the restaurant, we therefore can't have one". Clearly, at The Globe a booking made for "dinner" doesn’t necessitate the need for a ‘dinner ‘ table. We didn’t stay and won’t be back.

We really enjoyed our meal, great quality fresh food and sensible portion sizes. Friendly and efficient staff. Appropriate venue for a birthday celebration. The location is also very pleasant, in a pretty square with traditional buildings, a grassed area and trees. As an aside we stayed over and that was a great experience too. There is no car park, but free street parking available round the square.

Lovely 4 night stay where we were able to do what we had planned even though the weather was not the best. Everyone at The Globe couldn't have been more helpful and dealt promptly with any problems we encountered.

We popped in on the off chance on a busy Friday evening hoping that we may be able to get a table for dinner. We weren’t terribly optimistic but the manager managed to find a corner for us (in the snug) and I am so pleased he did. All the staff, particularly the front of house, were welcoming, engaging and helpful and added to our overall experience. Menu was great and food lived up to our expectations - burger, fish cake in curry sauce and a couple of pizzas all very good. To round off a great all round experience we were even given an impromptu tour by one of the members of staff before leaving. Can’t wait to go back - very impressed on all fronts. I would add that we had not been in the Globe for a couple of years (i.e. since it had been refurbished) and it is now very smart but still welcoming to families, dogs etc.

Our accommodation was amazing, clean and modern. There was even a bed and treats for our dog. Fabulous breakfast included. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

This is a very mixed review so I’ll start with the positives. Decor Lovely Staff mainly great apart from very rude young man with tattoos (literally slammed the bottle of wine on the table) just because I asked for the empty glasses to be taken away… more in this later! We had a lovely friendly welcome from the French gentleman. Food was nice. Not wonderful… didn’t blow us away but nice! Negatives Greed has taken over here.. we booked this table well in advance, 4 adults squeezed around a table for 2… wrong!!! I asked what we could do and was told nothing. With 3 6ft males our knees were touching. For a bill exceeding £200 we deserved better! Starters very good although my set savoury custard wasn’t quite set but still tasted ok… Mains.. Great burger book looked quite small, mean even but tasted good. Roasts our lamb was well cooked but roast potatoes were anemic, needed longer but I suspect with packing so many people in they were rushed!, Carrots lovely, very little green veg, tiny spoon of leeks, no cauliflower cheese, no parsnips, no peas or cabbage or broccoli.. Again for £24 each I would expect better vegetables than this. Will say great Yorkshire Pudding though. I must say it wasn’t just us, there were other people complaining about not having enough room around the table.. Very sad really because it could be great but please look after your customers better instead of treating us like this. Would we return? Probably not because there are so many eateries here to choose from.

My husband and I came here for the first time for my birthday lunch. We cannot fault the food and service - both were excellent. We both had seabream with chorizo marmalade and bean cassoulet. The fish was cooked well and the dish was rich in flavour but not too overpowering. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and my husband had the apple and rhubarb crumble. Both were absolutely delicious. The servers were attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant had a nice friendly atmosphere; it was busy but felt relaxed. We'll definitely be back here again. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful experience!

My room Was all over the place with the décor. Also was very noisy at night when people are going to their rooms The Lighting was terrible And it didn't make no sense to have a kettle in the room and a coffee machine As the instructions said you need to boil the kettle for the coffee machine The food was OK.The starters were lovely.The mains was ok ish Shame it was mushy peas out of a tin And packet tartar source dessert was ok. Didn't really have anyone come over much about asking if we would like more drinks.. breakfast again was ok but I don't think I'd be Rushing back to stay

We stayed for two nights in the Arch Rooms and it was nice to be away from the pub (about 5 min walk) so it was lovely and quiet at night. Great rooms and the pub itself, honestly couldn’t fault it. Completely recommend!

The food was excellent that we ordered. Staff were very attentive and professional especially Max who seemed to be overseeing the restaurant.

Delicious breakfast, excellent choice, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, pastries, toast and a range of cooked options, cooked to order and to perfection served with tea or coffee. We had the East Anglian breakfast one morning and scrambled egg and smoked salmon the next, both very tasty and enjoyable. The staff were friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble.

We had a excellent dinner, b&b stay At the Globe Inn at a great price (black friday deal we had purchased). The room was very clean and comfortable and the 2 course dinner my husband and I had was delicious. The breakfast was also delicious with a number of hot options as well as a breakfast table. The portions were very generous! All of the staff we spoke to over our stay were all very friendly and always happy to help. Wrapping up our stay with a wonderful walk on the beach from Wells to Holkham was the icing on the cake. We have visited this beach many times and it is spectacular. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We came here for NYE as part of a short break package. The accommodation and service relating to our stay was excellent but the dinners were a big disappointment. We had booked a table for the early evening sitting of the New Year celebratory dinner. It was a set menu and wasn’t cheap but we were hoping for a special meal and a sense of occasion. However, our waitress oozed stress from the moment we arrived. There was no warm welcome nor recognition that it was NYE. She brought out one course after the next in a hurried fashion, not pausing to ask how the meal was nor engage in friendly conversation. She brought three glassses of Prosecco and, when I pointed out that our daughter was only 14 and asked for an alternative, the waitress just said that the Prosecco was all that was included. Her manner was so abrupt that we started feeling tense and I asked what time the table was needed for the booking after us. The waitress told us, that it was needed as soon as possible and that, as soon as see were finished she needed to reset it for the next people. Eventually, I got up and asked at the front desk how long we had our table for. They said another 50 minutes - and we were already on desert so there was really no rush. This must have caused offence because the waitress then left us alone and didn’t return to take further drinks orders. We sat with the wine menu open in front of us but nobody came to take our order. The food was very good but, if you are paying a decent amount and spending NYE in a restaurant (especially one which was only offering a special NYE menu), I think it’s reasonable to expect a celebratory atmosphere and some warmth from the waiting staff. I felt sorry for the waitress because she obviously felt under pressure and she may well have been over-worked but she appeared to be experienced and she really ought to have tried harder. We came back for dinner the next evening (it was part of the package) and we were seated at the same table with the same waitress. She was a little more relaxed but she still wasn’t friendly nor warm. She also waited for us all to order fish and chips before telling us that they’d run out. It was completely different at breakfast with friendly, chatty staff who did their best to make us feel welcome. It’s a shame because the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the standard of cooking is very good but we wouldn’t return because of the service.

Our room was supposed to be the "Best" Room option - I'm afraid it was only adequate and certainly not up to BEST standards at other Chestnut Inns. We’ve had a "Best" room at the Westleton Crown which was far superior all round. For a very sunny weekend I feel like we were locked indoors in dark and dingy rooms for the entirety of our stay. Our bedroom had no windows, we kept being seated in the area of the pub with no windows and so consequently I felt rather light deprived after the two days. Overall we had a “nice enough” stay, but the general feeling we had was of a place being run with no visible management onsite. It left one with a general feeling of a lack of control over very many areas of the operation. We certainly were not made to feel especially welcome in any way. This is quite sad. On check out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay, and I provided all of our feedback directly to the hotel in their survey the day after we left, but have had no response. It seems they do not care about their guests' experience. My overall impression of the Chestnut Group has now declined somewhat. No longer will it be my first port of call in this area.

This is a lovely hotel in a great position in Wells. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, my only negative comment is that our room, being an ex stable block. There is very little light in the rooms and therefore they felt a bit dark and it wasn’t particularly easy to read in the room. Perhaps better lighting in the room would help, especially in the seating area. As for the main building of the pub, it is nicely decorated, the food was very good and the staff were excellent. In particular,Izzie, our waitress was very professional, helpful and made our stay even more special.

What a great place to stay. Wonderful food and excellent helpful staff and very dog friendly. The bar area is very inviting and a nice place to spend a few hours enjoying excellent beer and cocktails.

Mediocre hotel - bedroom was very hot and bathroom very cold. Breakfast was good but dinner very disappointing, confirmed by 7 adults. Service was assertive and stiff from all points of contact, creating a strange atmosphere.

I think this was out fifth stay at The Globe which must show that we love the place. Its in the perfect location in Wells, has excellent food and drink and the rooms are lovely. This time we bought our dog and not only was a dog basket bowl, basket, treats and shampoo supplied in the room but every time we eat in the restaurant, the staff made sure we were sat at a table where he had plenty of room to lie down. The staff at The Globe made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you yet again and see you again soon

We had a lovely time at the Globe Inn, Wells Next The Sea. Brilliant atmosphere and very tasty food.

Lovely experience with the setting and atmosphere the only thing holding it back was the lack vegetarian options for food.

We stayed in Room 22 which was a family room. The room had a large double bed and a fold up double bed, plus a large en-suite, and a fully equipped kitchenette. The room was very clean and well maintained. We took our dog (Vinnie Bones) with us and were surprised at how dog friendly this hotel was. It was amazing!! The food at the hotel is not cheap, but the quality is excellent and so we didn’t mind paying a little extra. Staff service, from the bar staff, waiting staff, reception staff to the chamber maids was nothing short of excellent. We were made to feel at home from the minute we arrived and throughout our short stay. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be going back.

Room disappointing and nothing like photos. Floors could at least do with rugs beside the beds. Lighting also needs to be improved in the rooms Breakfast wonderful and staff so pleasant. Wouldn’t stay again but would definitely eat there again!

Amazing stay at this beautiful place! My daughter called the hotel to see if she could pay to upgrade our booked room for a special treat for us and was very kindly offered a complimentary upgrade for our room by a very lovely lady member of staff! We stayed here from 12-15th Jan with our dog. All the staff made us feel welcome and when we returned with family ensured we had a corner to have drinks, play games and make memories. We were impressed by our room, which was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our breakfasts were delicious, freshly cooked to order with attentive service. We would definitely return to The globe as we’re made to feel so welcome.

The food was pretty good , apart from the bowl full of burnt fries that came with my burger which at pretty much £19 was in my eyes overpriced. My wife did enjoy the venison Ragu however . The part that really let down the night was the service. We weren't made to feel welcome at all the whole evening and felt they just wanted us to leave. Dessert menu was offered but then we had to remind them over half hour later after being ignored. We come to wells regularly but have agreed never to come back to eat at the globe . Also , when we booked in person they made a note that it was a special occasion for my wife's birthday which was overlooked completely.

A fantastic time had, the rooms were clean & spacious. The staff so friendly & the food so tasty. We will be back.

We stayed at the Globe over New Years Eve, staying in the Arch House rooms and having dinner and breakfast in the pub/restaurant. The loft room that we had was lovely and cosy, having everything we needed and the complimentary Bloody Mary gift box was a lovely touch and very tasty! The pub/restaurant is one of my favourites in the area and it didn't disappoint. From a few drinks in the afternoon, to the fantastic 5 course meal in the evening and delicious breakfast the following day, the standard of food and service was second to non. The waiting on and bar staff went above and beyond to make our stay the best they could, and we had a very memorable New Years Eve. We'll definitely be staying here again. Its a fantastic establishment, set in the most beautiful part of the country (well in my opinion :-)

It is nice place to sit but the food was awful and therefore absolutely not worth the money that they charge for it! We ordered seabass and a pulled pork burger. Both dishes arrived 5 minutes from placing the order and they were both cold. Which makes me think they have been done long before we have placed the order and they were just siting on the side, waiting for someone to order it. Fish was dry as a cardboard and the 'burger' was swimming in a pool of liquid that leaked from the meat and salad, and it looked revolting. Bear in mind, 'pulled pork burger' is just a normal burger with a spoonful of additional pulled pork squashed in between the layers of the burger. We have asked for the half eaten plates of food to be taken away and we have expressed our disappointment but we only got response: 'oh well, sorry you didn't like it'. We will never go back there. Don't waste your money! Even Wetherspoon would have been better for dinner!

Cosy picturesque hotel in good location. So dog friendly, buzzing atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food.

Restaurant was great but Arch House a definite NO. Not fit for purpose. Old & tired and beds from when it was a care home. Both my husband and I never slept for all 3 nights and have come home with bad necks. One night even the doorbell (which even the Manager didn’t no existed) rang at 3am. Avoid at all costs.

An excellent three night package. All the food was prepared to a very high standard and the service from ALL of the staff was superb who took a pride in what they did. Highly recommended. The glass of mulled wine and bottle of Prosecco on Christmas Eve together with the Hamper on Christmas Day were totally unexpected and very much appreciated!

The foodfor dinner and also breakfast the next morning was very good. We did have to wait a little while for our hot tea choices (although they were busy at that time) and the service was friendly and helpful

Stayed in Arch House as main building sold out of basic rooms. Room was up some narrow stairs, but warm and had everything for a one night stay. Building is old and creaky, had a nice lounge decorated for Christmas. Milk kept in the fridge...

My fish and chips were a generous serving. But both the chips and peas were salty. The barman tried to charge me for a different table, even though she had seen me sitting and eating on my own. Breakfast the following morning was also salty....

Considering the lockdown restrictions the Globe is going above and beyond to accommodate dinners and drinkers, decent prices (for a southerner) and very hospitable, will be visiting again next time I'm in wells next the sea.

Beautiful room, exceptionally clean & homely. The bed was so comfortable, one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time! Beautifully decorated, inspiration for my home when I get back! Unfortunately the actual restaurant was closed due to covid which would have been lovely if open but understandable why they were closed. Plenty of bars and cafes to eat from nearby so not a problem at all. The lady who welcomed us in was so lovely and knowledgeable about the place too. Shower was amazing, a true waterfall style! Overall a lovely stay. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place in Norfolk! We will be back!

We had a lovely evening at the Globe over half term. Both food and service was excellent. The pub was warm and welcoming. The outside area looks fantastic and will hopefully be well used after 2nd Dec.

Very last minute booking but the food and service was amazing. Had roast beef for Sunday lunch the best I have had anywhere and great wine to pair it with. Very safe lots of hand sanitizer and helpful staff, cannot wait to return.

This pub is at the top end of the town away ftom the beach but very popular. Inside fully booked but around the back they have a large covered coat yard with heaters for "walk ins" This was fine but do follow the procedure of QR code to order your food and drinks otherwise nothing comes! On this note the phone app menu only had description title " cheese tart " etc so not clear if vegetarian suitable or not. Their printed menu clearly tells you. The Sunday lunch option had a very nice looking Yorkshire pudding!Good service once placed electronically. Very nice I foorz and smart WCs . Tbru have spent money on this place.

Recommendation for food but maybe next time but just a tea and a beer on this trip but looks great offering.

I've seen the future of pubs and to be frank it's a bit of a shock. Went to the Globe twice with my friends, gentlemen of a certain age, but we don't dribble or wet ourselves. We wanted to sit outside, there were plenty of empty tables, so why not? I'll tell you why, to sit outside you need to order on a smart phone, which we don't have. The staff don't take table orders outside, although they will bring drinks to you there. The first time this happened we were allowed to go inside the pub instead, and found the beer to be very good, and the young staff charming, efficient and on the ball. The second time there was no room inside, and despite empty tables outside, we were turned away. Isn't this discriminatory against those without smart phones - i.e. the elderly. Is it lawful? Obviously this is a management decision, so are they trying to cull a certain type of customer? If so, it worked in this case.

The perfect Sunday roast after a day exploring the north Norfolk coast. Service was excellent and food was gorgeous. Strongly recommend!

Meal was Ok, liked the fish but not the better, liked the chips but the greens were a shambles - it was pain to navigate to the peas through the rest of the nonsense chucked on top of it. Service was fine.

My wife and I ate lunch here on a weekday. Because of covid we booked in advance and all went smoothly. The waitress was nice and friendly. Food was good with a decent crab salad ( please see photo)

Just returned from a lovely lunch with friends at the Globe, most of us enjoyed local Brancaster mussels with a delicious creamy broth, serviced with skinny fries and bread. Great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Recommend for a relaxed lunch.

Really enjoyed stopping here. Did a couple of drinks after walking and booked to eat in the bar. They allow dogs so that is a real bonus - not in the restaurant tho and quite rightly too!! Food lovely- mussels and fish n chips - pecan pie to die for!! Service generally great, lovely staff, however, dessert spoon needed serving with a fork and wrapped in a serviette not just dumped on the table in wet patches where glasses have been. Maybe petty but valid. Overall really nice.

Light lunch, after walking miles on the beach and wandering through the town to the Globe. A good menu and we enjoyed the Thai chicken curry, tempura prawns which were excellent plus a couple of burgers. Good well cooked food, at a busy lunch service.

The restaurant of this dog friendly hotel has a good menu with excellent food and wine. Very friendly and speedy service with good Covid protocols. Dogs permitted in the dining area.

After being shouted at for not wearing a mask!! Honest mistake!! We sat down to a menu which did not match or resemble the online sample at all. Make sure you check before going. It left us with very little choice!.That said the Halibut with Crushed Potatoes and fine beans were a delight. All elements cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyable. Just a shame on the selection and attitude of the righteous tattooed staff.

Booked a table to celebrate my husbands birthday. We arrived 15 minutes early and fully appreciated given the current situation that we had to return. Arrived back to be told our table was not ready and appeared to still be occupied with people eating. We were told to go to the bar and get a drink until our table was ready, only to be turned way as no tables were available, however we could see an empty table. We left unable to get food anywhere else!

Ate here Monday evening, fish and chips very tasty,husband s burger enjoyable, Really good atmosphere in restaurant, although obviously all Covid rules in place,felt very relaxed.

What a lovely find. Really enjoyed ourselves here, we sat outside the back area which is where they have their hotel rooms. Inside the decor was nice and warmly. The restaurant area was also inviting. Would recommend this place after a nice walk around wells. Dog friendly which is always great news.

after a long walk with the dogs we found the globe in a back street on a square .was a dog friendly pub so it suited us .had lunch in a lovely courtyard at the side of the pub .very chilled and relaxing place .had drinks and lunch there .service was good and food was good aswell .nice little find .

Well, we didn’t get to eat here and our welcome meant that it’s off the list to even try! Attempt to book an hour before you want a table to be told that bookings aren’t being taken - arrive an hour later to be told that they’re fully booked by a surly and unpleasant character!Good luck to anyone with attempts to eat here!,

A warm welcome on arrival and good service throughout. The fish and chips, burger and steak were generous and very good quality. But if you fancy something a bit different, try the samosa and Mumbai potatoes. Absolutely fabulous!!

This is a nice place in a great location. The restaurant felt overfilled - not really any social distancing. Most staff are youngsters and appeared inexperienced in the way they served food, drinks and dealt with queries. Food was good overall but doesn’t have a cooked fresh to order feel. Would revisit but not for a special occasion.

Food excellent.Covid safe would definitely return . Booking advisable at busy times. Local people eating here always a good sign.

Definitely wise to book ahead due to COVID as less space available inside for dining. We really enjoyed our meal. The freshness and presentation of the dishes pleased us and the service was also good.
